This drone with a 5-inch touchscreen and a 3-axis gimbal is without a doubt an incredibly advanced product. The 3-axis gimbal works perfectly — the footage is extremely stable, and the 4K resolution looks fantastic. Filming went very smoothly. The built-in touchscreen on the remote controller feels super high-end, and I love that I can control everything directly from the remote without needing to connect my phone anymore. The weight is a perfect 249g, so I can fly it without registering with the FAA.

I'm really satisfied with the Contixo F29 so far. The camera quality is clear for what I need, and the built-in touchscreen remote makes flying a lot easier since I don't have to use my phone. It's lightweight, folds up nicely, and the GPS return feature gives me peace of mind when it gets a little far out. Overall, it's a solid drone for the price and I'm happy with the purchase.

Budget mid-tier drone with strengths & weaknesses

Verdict: The Contixo F29 is a decent mid-tier budget drone (not necessarily for beginners) that aims to offer a lot of value. Flight performance is ok, with acceptable performance if you know how to fly a drone and if you give yourself ample space for imprecise controls. To be clear, in my personal experience, it does not fly flawlessly like a premium drone… It can certainly perform impressively in some areas, such as range, camera control, and resolution. If you have ample space to learn and operate this drone, you will be happy with it. However, if you require precise performance and perfectly stable flight, I don’t recommend buying this drone. Pro tip: (1) To get the best quality footage, use the SD Card in the drone, not in the remote; (2) Flight take off is not as stable as my other drones; you need to give yourself extra space on take off and landing; (3) The rear propellers sit very low; use a hard flat surface for take off and landing, or use the included landing pad. Experience. I have been flying drones for over eight years now. This is my fourth drone, including two from the premiere drone company on the market (one large and one compact). I have used them in high wind, in snow storms, on vacations, etc. I generally think they are a remarkable invention and really enjoy using them for family memories and to explore things that we can’t easily see. First impressions. I really appreciate that the drone comes with a compact carrying case and a remote with a touch screen. Included in the box are everything you need, to include spare propellers, two batteries (!!), two chargers (!!!), a few small tools, and a 32 GB SD card. The remote control is actually bigger than the drone when it’s folded up. The quick start guide is good, and the full manual is very good. While the drone and remote feel quite plasticky (more than others for some reason), this is standard for most drones for weight and durability. The propellers are quite small. I like the shape of the drone, but the rear propellers sit quite low, so you will need to consider where you take off and land. Performance. Many years ago, this drone would have been impressive. In today’s market, I think it performs at about its price point (mid-tier budget); impressive in some of its capability with some significant give and take in stability and precision. The Contixo F29 wobbles and drifts a bit (forward/backward for me) on takeoff, so I highly recommend you give yourself space. Once airborne, the drone will stabilize and can fly mostly smoothly forward, backwards, and sideways. While flying is smooth, my drone drifts down so I have to monitor altitude so it doesn’t crash. Of note, directional change is not aggressive, so you really need to plan extra time for your movements; this was something I needed to get use to because in my other drones, you can fully-reverse any direction within half a second. I did not test the range on this because there are too many obstacle where we live, and without sensors, the drone would most certainly crash against trees or building when trying to come back. With the lack of obstacle sensors, consider very carefully where you will push this drone to the edge of its range; for example, a place that would be fine for that is on an empty beach and going out to sea at lower altitude (no obstacles). With ample space and time for maneuvers, you CAN do a lot for this drone at this price. Battery performance was good for me: about 20 minutes on the drone and maybe an hour on the remote. Features. This drone advertises a 4K UHD camera with 3-axis gimbal. The footage is decent if you record directly from the drone and then use the SD card in a computer. It also comes with a 5” HD touchscreen, which works well. The three-different return home functions are great to reduce likelihood of losing the drone (press to go home, signal loss, or low battery). Activating handy features is easy from the touchscreen. Follow-me is as it sounds… the drone will follow you once you activate the feature; be careful about obstacles since this drone does not have sensors… it will hit branches or other objects. Orbit mode will make a circle around the point where you activate orbit mode; you can control speed and direction of the rotation. Fly far is essentially an epic selfie mode, sending the drone away from you while it films to reveal a spectacular scenery. Sky-rocket flies straight up while filming and Spiral flies the drone upwards in a corkscrew path. Finally, you can guide the drone’s flight path by touching the screen, which it is neat but not something I use. Safety features. The charger won’t charge the battery if you are using a plug adapter with too many amps, which I think is wise to avoid overcharging, overheating, or any other battery issues. The recommended power adapter is 5V / 2 Amps. The drone and carrying bag are small enough to put in a bag back or carry-on bag, which is required for items with batteries. Things I love: - 4K UHD camera with a 3-axis gimbal - 32GB SD card is included - High-quality durable carrying case - No need to register with the FAA - Built-in 5” HD screen on the remote - Lots of powerful flight features, made easy with the touch screen, and several one-touch activations - 3 km range - It comes with two batteries AND two chargers, thank you!! - Great size for packing in a carry-on bag when you are flying - Comes with a handy landing pad Things I don’t love. - It takes a few minutes to connect to satellites, but this could just be my current location. I end up flying in Altitude Mode to get started faster - I think that the on buttons should function the same on the remote and on the drone. Short press then long press on both devices! After several months, I will not remember that these turn on differently and will be confused - The rear propellers sit quite low, so if you have to take off or land in the grass, the propellers will hit and flip the drone. Best to land on a hard surface, or… use the included landing pad! - The battery fits quite tight, which I suppose is a good thing so it doesn’t fall off during flight, but it’s also a bit hard to remove - When the drone crashes (yes, I have crashed it in bushes a few times because I overestimated its ability to turn quickly), the propellers just keep spinning, even if just one of them is free. There should be an easy stop button on the screen that just says “STOP”, followed by a confirmation acknowledgement. Right now, it’s tricky to try to grab the drone in the bushes while propellers are spinning and the remote will not stop the propellers through the standard two joysticks down Overall, the Contixo F29 is a capable mid-tier budget drone that offers quite a bit of value for the price in terms of features, and flies at the level of a mid-tier budget drone (some wobble, drift, and imprecision). If you need precision, I recommend getting something else. If you have space to learn and fly it, it’s great and will provide hours of fun and satisfaction.

Good video smoothness, but iffy control response

I consider myself relatively new to flying drones, so take this review from that perspective. I have another drone by a different company that I really like, but it didn't have it's camera on a gimbal so it's not very good for video. That's why I couldn't wait to try the Contixo F29. It's still nice and small but it has a 4K camera on a gimbal. I really like the touchscreen remote control. The screen is a good size and has good clarity. The sticks have a good feel to them with a firm spring to return them to center. The buttons are laid out well and are backlit. The remote also includes a micro SD card slot so you can keep the card in here or use the one onboard the F29. If you opt to use the drone card slot, you can take the card out after a flight and install it into the remote to view any videos or photos that were taken. I'm not sure if there's a visible difference in quality between using either the drone's SD slot or the remotes SD slot, but I tend to think the quality has a better chance of being good if you record with the SD card in the drone itself. I had no trouble at all going through the setup process to ready the drone for flight. It powered on and synced with the remote quickly. The calibration is similar to my other drone, and it did just what it said it would do in the process. It had no problem with the horizontal and vertical calibration sequence and the GPS search was quite quick. Calibrating the gyroscope was equally quick and easy and in no time, I was ready for flight. I like that through each step of the calibration process, there's an audible beep when the step is successful. The first flight with this drone I wasn't very happy with but I don't think I had the antenna orientation quite right. The flight was pretty erratic and it didn't respond very well to the controls. At one point I actually had to crash it into the ground to retrieve it. That's all I'll say about this flight because my subsequent flights were really good. There was really no wind to speak of when I took it out, so it flew pretty well. I know with a drone this size, wind can really be an issue. I was able to test out both the manual take off and the auto take off and both worked really well. For the most part, the drone hovers in place well. It's not 100% solid as it does have a slight tenancy to drift around a little bit, but nothing extreme. Right joystick horizontal movement worked well in all direction and the left joystick accurately rotated it and allowed good elevation movement. This drone sits very low to the ground, the legs are really short. So much so that the camera is almost resting on the ground when waiting for take off. It's not a big issue, but it does mean that you need a very flat landing zone to take off from and land in. I took off from the asphalt parking lot (which was not in the best shape), and while it worked ok when I found a good section, I can see why they give you the landing pad with this drone. The arm lights are not very big and as a result, they're difficult to see when in flight. I like the headlights on the front end, they help you to orient the drone toward you for the return trip. The beep indications are a plus. It gives you audible confirmation of successful compass and GPS calibration and also alerts you when your drones battery is getting low, which really helps. Camera quality is quite good. Photos are clear and the colors seem good. The video quality is also pretty good and having the camera mounted on a gimbal makes a huge difference. My video turned out very smooth without any bouncing around. This will be nice to use when the weather is warmer by me. I can't wait to use it in some wooded areas with streams, should be very cool. For the price, Contixo does give you quite a bit. Aside from the F29 itself and the touchscreen remote controller, they give you two batteries and two battery charger bases (but you'll need to supply the wall mounted chargers yourself). They also give you a landing pad, spare propellers, a 32GB micro SD card and a case to store everything in. A word about the case. While I do appreciate that the case is big enough to easily carry everything you need, it's vertical orientation doesn't allow you to slide it into a backpack. This is more of a cube style case which makes you carry it as is, separately. My other drone has a nice flat case that lets me put it in my backpack, which is a great feature. Final thoughts. This is nice drone at a reasonable price for anyone who is interested in getting into flying drones. The small size means you can pretty much take it out and start flying without worrying about registering it. The whole kit contains literally everything you need (with the exception of a USB charger). I did experience several glitches while flying, at a few times, I felt that the drone was not responding to the remote and even though I did manage to get it back it made me a bit nervous that at some point it would just stop responding at all (I did crash it several times because of this). I would suggest flying it in wide open spaces and not around people. I had very good luck with the camera operation and the gimbal really smooths out the videos.

    What An Amazing Drone!

I am writing this review for the Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone. First I want to say how completely impressed I am with the F29. As I read about its features and abilities, I couldn’t help but think how many of it available functions are found only in drones that cost exponentially more than the F29, which I will get into shortly. This is the perfect drone for simple hobbyists to those who want to give their videos an unbelievable professional bend. When the package arrived, I was surprised at its weight. It weighs heavier than I thought it would. I say that because I have owned two previous drones, and they were much lighter than the F29. As I opened the box, I was greeted by a very nice rigid cloth storage case filled with all kinds of neat surprises, most notable TWO (rather than simply one) batteries, with two individual chargers. This means a lot to me. My two previous drones had only one battery included, so that meant anytime the battery went low, I would have to wait for it to charge back up before resuming flight. After unpacking everything I went through the literature to learn how to charge everything, which I did. And while the drone batteries and the flight controller were charging, I read through all of the included literature… a quick start guide, a user’s manual, and of course all the warnings information. The next morning I was ready to test the waters. I mentioned I had owned two previous drones. Admittedly they were “budget-friendly" drones, so they were absent of any truly advanced features, including auto-return. As a result, both drones were lost due to gusts of wind that forced them out of eye-shot. Lesson learned… “budget-friendly” drones are cheaper for a reason. Due to my past experiences with the budget drones, I have been especially cautious with this one, making myself familiar with ALL of its features, including the compass calibrations and the GPS calibrations. Had my two previous drones had these features they wouldn’t be lost in some farmer’s field or sitting at the bottom of a pond somewhere. Day one was spend solely in controls… up/down, left/right, rotate left/rotate right, forward and reverse. I went through the two included batteries doing nothing but learning movement, and of course the initial calibrations. Each additional day has been spent fine-tuning movement, understanding its nuances, and even some testing of its durability…the latter not necessarily on purpose. So speaking of features, I would like to outline just a few of its many features. • Battery Life: Most importantly to me is the 23-minute flight time of each battery. This is really a plus. After familiarizing yourself with what the F29 can do, you will be surprised at what you can do with it in 20+ minutes of flight time. • 4K UHD Camera: The camera takes amazingly clear and detailed true 4K photos and videos. The camera is also mounted on a three-axis gimbal! • 5” HD Touchscreen Remote: The resolution of the screen makes it appear much larger than it is. The display is absolutely clear allowing you to see even the small details. It is well laid-out, and the controls are all super easy to learn. • One Key Return: This is perhaps one of the best functions included with this drone. Just one key stroke and the drone comes back home. If the line of sight is obstructed there is no better feeling than knowing all you have to do is make a one-touch movement and in a few seconds hear the hum of the F29 heading home. Although it isn’t listed as an “available feature,” I have to point out its durability. So far the F29 has survived encounters with a Cedar tree, tall grass, and a collision with my house. It came through unscathed. Yes, the props bear the scars, but they are completely undamaged, even after landing upside down. This after hitting the house so hard it bent the prop arm back on its pivot. MORE PLUSES: In addition to its many features, as I pointed out at the beginning, there is a LOT of stuff included with this drone, including the calibration mat, replacements props, and even a 32GB memory card, which almost no one else includes!! My final take? The Contixo F29 is the perfect choice for beginners and more advanced drone users. It has all the features you could possible expect at this price point. It is well-built, durable, and simple to learn. For the average drone user wanting to explore the area, taking great photos and videos, and enjoying the thrill of drone flying, this is really the best choice. Barring any real catastrophic encounters with immovable objects, you can truly expect years and years of enjoyable use with the F29. I would gladly recommend the F29.

The Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone is so much fun! I am new to drone flying (droning?) and I think I picked a very good one to start. The setup was relatively easy just by following the instructions in the manual and quick guide step by step. Word of advice, don't forget to do the calibration part of the setup - it is definitely necessary to have the drone fly where you expect it to go! Once the setup was done, I started it up and got to hear the whizzing of the motor! There is absolutely a learning curve to flying this and I also had to familiarize myself with all of the controls - what each flight stick does, etc. I had a couple mild crashes with my first attempts - only thing that broke was the very tip of two of the propellers. After a few more tries, I was able to do a soft landing! I wanted to take video or photos while flying, but I was so nervous and afraid of crashing that I didn't take any until I landed. I also didn't know how to look at the 5" HD touchscreen remote while still maintaining visual line of sight. I haven't been able to fly much since getting this since it's been raining quite a lot here in the Pacific Northwest lately, but I am looking forward to taking it out to a wide open space to see how good I can get at flying and taking videos/photos while in the air! With its 4K UHD camera, the pictures should be incredible. This particular drone does not require registration with the FAA as some others do. The FAA requires registration for drones 250 grams and above. This one weighs 249 grams. But still, be sure to check local rules for drones. For instance, where I live, I am not allowed to fly it at City parks. There are quite a few rules that must be followed when flying a drone, even one that doesn't require FAA registration. The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) is a necessity and will help beginners (like me) learn what is required of them. At the end of the free course, you will receive a certificate to show law enforcement, if requested. This drone has great features like auto-return and automatic flying modes such as orbit, spiral and more. A really cool feature is that the drone will return to the point of take-off if the battery is drained or it loses connection with the remote. I like that it has safety features built in. Note that this drone does not have any built-in obstacle avoidance so care must be taken in any automatic movements. This comes with 2 drone batteries and 2 charging stands, each battery allowing up to 23 minutes of flying. It also includes 8 spare propellers, a helipad and a carrying case. Everything packs up conveniently into the case which also has a side pocket perfect for holding your TRUST certificate. The maximum control range is about 1.8 miles and the max speed is about 15.5 mph. There is so much to flying a drone and the Contixo F29 Altura Max 4K GPS Drone is no exception. There is a lot for a beginner to learn but it it so incredibly fun to do. With all the included features, this drone will be a blast to fly for years to come. I highly recommend this drone to anyone looking for a smaller or perhaps a beginner-mid level drone.

I remember as a kid seeing the first drones available to consumer at long gone store at the mall. Yes those drones didn’t do much of anything but I thought they were the coolest thing in the world. Fast forward 20 plus years and the tech has evolved so much but they are still so cool. I was so excited when this drone showed I quickly opened the package and got everything set up as quickly as I could. Let me start with this I love how it was packaged it comes with a carrying case and everything is in its slot. After charging everything ran outside and got it stated. Once it was up and flying I was amazed and how easy it was to control. Flying it all over my backyard was a blast and I loved the included landing pad. I was pleasantly surprised with the image quality. Is this the greatest and best drone ever. No but for a beginner this is a great drone packed with features and works great. Highly recommend it and know you will have a blast using it. My one downside that I would note is that controller to turn on is not the most intuitive I had to press the button to get it to light up then press again and hold it for a few seconds. Besides that everything else worked grea.

The stable footage and sharp image quality make me feel like I’m flying a DJI drone. The range of up to 2km easily covers most of the places I want to go. The only minor drawback is that the drone is quite lightweight, so its wind resistance isn’t very strong. However, thanks to the 3-axis gimbal, the video remains smooth and stable even when the drone shakes in the wind. The inclusion of two batteries is a big plus — it really helps reduce flight-time anxiety. Each battery lasts over 20 minutes, which is quite impressive.

Almost Great, But Not The Best Image Quality

This is a decent drone offering, largely due to its included touch screen controller, which is really the best way to fly one a beginner drone. Connecting to a phone app is fine, but nothing seems to beat a dedicated controller that is all set and ready to go when you need it - without potential connection issues, etc. An included case, two batteries and chargers and a nice little landing pad (not required) - along with approachable flying features, round out a nearly complete package for a beginner 4k drone. Pop in the included micro-SD for recordings and you really have everything you need. Despite all of that good stuff, the camera features are oddly very limited and image sensor is not the best, creating images and video that appears HD and often lack detail. __ Performance & Controller __ I find flying this to be very familiar, largely because it mimics many of the same functions and form of other major drone brand I own. One key distinction is its apparent need to for gyro-calibration before each flight. It’s not too complicated and just involves a sequence of rotating the drone in two axis before flying. I failed to do this on my second flight and it may have caused issues taking off in a steady manner, resulting in a small crashing on a nearby bush as the drone wandered both left and right, and up and down in ways I wasn’t expecting... at least, I feel that must have been the issue. Either way, I’d recommend taking off in a wide open area and not risking it. It doesn’t have any object avoidance and even a slight breeze can move small drones around due to how light they are. - The drone was fine after the mild crash, but I was slightly disturbed by how long it took to shut down its rotors, something my higher end drone does a bit more predictably. Probably most importantly though, this drone has all the key features you’d want when getting into flying. Like I mentioned above, a screen-based controller is the best way to live-view and fly in a fun and comfortable way. Flying without a screen doesn’t really provide enough information to know what you’re doing or even really enjoy the flight at the heights and distances you're able to fly. __ Image Quality __ This is the main place this drone falls short. While footage recorded to an microSD card installed in the drone itself records at 3840 x 2160 pixels (4k) (less if recorded to the controller), the quality of the image in both stills and video look no better than upscaled 1080p. It’s ok, but not the best for capturing content you’d want to share widely. Available light also seems to affect quality quite a bit. I flew on an overcast day and my videos looked very muddy, noising and washed out - but when flying on a sunny Winter day in the Pacific Northwest, it looked much more respectable. I imagine that bright overhead sun will allow the best capture and deliver something you’d be happier about. For casual flying, it’s still a lot of fun to get all kinds of vantage points or just enjoy a live view and the flight itself. Thanks to the gimbal, footage is fairly smooth - though you’ll still get some unavoidable movement in light breezes as the drone gets blown around a bit. Strangely, you also won’t find any camera quality settings on this drone. It records at 4k resolution with no settings to tweak the image. Special flight settings, like orbit and ‘follow’ are available, but you don’t have the choice to record in different codecs or in a lower resolution, for example. __ Overall Impression __ I love that this comes with a screen controller in the $399-$499 price range, but with what seems like a lower quality image sensor and limited camera controls, it’s brought down from what could have been an easy recommendation. If you want to record quality content, this may not be the best drone to spring for. Other reputable brands often go on sale for a similar price and I’d choose one of those over this due to this alone. My unsteady liftoff and mild crash also gives me some pause as I'm not certain my lack of calibration caused the unexpected wandering after liftoff during my second flight... But, if you don’t care about the recordings as much and are careful when getting started, this drone has just about everything you’d want in a single package - including an approachable set of features, a solid controller with nice touch screen, and a professional-quality organizing bag that very nicely contains it all for travel and storage. *** Good Stuff *** - Familiar, easy to use controls - Nice screen controller for live flight views and great flying experience. - Fairly steady filming and view thanks to gimbal camera. - Water resistant organizing case is well organized and well made. - 32gb SD card, 2 batteries and chargers, spare blades included *** Less Than Good Stuff *** - Image sensor captures at HD-equivalent quality, even if technically capturing at 4k resolution. - Calibration needed before flying, may have led to my small crash. - Camera handles overcast days especially poorly. - No camera settings made available, just default video and images with no choice on quality, size, etc. - Drone chassis is a bit creaky and blade arms are slightly hard to spread and retract.

I got this in hopes to find a suitable drone under the need to be registered weight of 250g so there are less flying restrictions and while it does fly, it’s just not a very good drone if you want picture quality and ease of operation. Of note I have been flying drones for about 10-12 years and have had 7 during that time. Open arrival, the outer box seemed of lesser quality. Inside it comes with everything you need to fly including 2 batteries, 2 chargers, mini sd card, extra propellers, and a nice carrying case. It comes folded nicely and fits easily in the palm of your hand. It is very light and under 250g, so no need to register with the faa. Opening the drones wings, it felt very fragile and like cheap plastic. I can’t imagine if you break a propeller that you don’t break the whole drone. I didn’t test that, but that’s what it feels like. The camera attachment and gimble, the part that makes the camera steady and move, comes with a cover to keep it safe. Keep it and use it when not in use. The glass on my camera was slightly crooked(see picture), but I don’t think it will affect picture quality, just probably shouldn’t have passed product inspection. Red flag. The remote and batteries came completely dead, so don’t expect to use it or it to turn on when you get it. Note, you must use the usb to usb c cable it came with. I tried a usb c to usb c and it didn’t even acknowledge that anything was plugged in. Maybe too much for it to handle, not sure. After 5 hours of charging the remote, and a battery, I gave it a shot. The instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow and joystick moves are similar to other drones oof you have flown others. The battery said full on the remote(see picture) and after waiting about two minute for satellites to connect for safe gps coordinates, up I went. I flew for about 2 mins, the screen feed seemed twitchy, not smooth at all and the screen on the remote has sub quality resolution and appeared a bit grainy which isn’t the best if you’re trying to use the screen as a barometer for getting a good picture. At about 2 mins in the air and looking around and snapping a couple photos, I lost connection to the drone in my video feed. I hadn’t gone too far up so I was able to slowly bring it down and land no problem. Not sure what happened, but the battery was then dead on the drone. So I charged the other. The next day I tried again. However the second battery had not charged. Apparently you need to disconnect and reconnect to get the charger to turn back on but I had left it connected to the usb port. I should’ve checked the lights on the charger but I assumed it was just broken because everything so far had felt of lesser quality. The next day, I tried again. 2 minutes to connect to gps, up I went, connection to screen remained stable however still twitchy, not smooth and still grainy. That’s what the quality is I guess. I took some more photos from a hovering position. There is a lot of drift which is strange while connected to multiple gps points. The instability of flight makes getting that perfect picture a bit harder but there was no motion blur in the photos, see attached. The straight out of camera jpegs, the ones attached thankfully look far better and less grainy than they did on the screen. They are however pretty dull and lifeless and the color didn’t match to the environment. Be prepared to edit. They also have quite a bit of fish eye which you can see in the photo with the tv antenna. The horizon was also crooked which I think was because it was getting blown in the 8-10mph wind which isn’t much. I tested the video quality on the auto mode where the drone does a swirling panoramic move by itself and the drone was unable to remain steady and the video and horizon were extremely slanted. While I had some hopes this would be a decent knock around alternative drone, I really cannot recommend it to anyone. It does fly and have fpv, but everything about it is cheap and subpar quality. Contixo should do better and you can too.

The Contixo F29 Altura Max is not complex; fairly intuitive once you get use to flying. Instructions are straight forward and complete. All you need to know before piloting. Nothing like experiencing working the controls. It is my first and a good first. Would be nice to have obstacle avoidance sensors…

Easy to use but would recommend starting somewhere where it’s open. Ive noticed the battery for each would last 15min and the range would half a mile until I start to lose connection

You have to be good at flying in order to keep this drone stable. But for the price it worth it.

These were purchased for our grandson who is 18. He is doing a lot of promotional videos, TikTok, etc., and specifically asked for this drone for Christmas. He is very happy with it and it is doing exactly what he wanted to do with it.

Pretty good drone. Picture is good, travel distance is really good. Battery life last about 20 minutes per battery. The remote stays charged long enough to run both batteries down. I would recommend this as a good starter drone.

This Contixo F29 Altura Max is a wonderful little drone. It’s been a lot of fun for the kids and me. We’ve enjoyed flights around the neighborhood, park, pool, etc. Excellent “beginner” drone for me. I’ve had one previously which cost about the same price, but this one blows that out of the water. The Contixo F29 Altura Max comes loaded with a 4K UHD camera mounted on a 3-axis gimbal for stunning images and smooth video stabilization. The camera takes great shots and stores them directly on the included micro-SD card. Camera can also be easily adjusted up/down with the remote so that I can get the exact angle I’m looking for. Really neat for taking aerial shots of the house/yard/pool from above. A massive step up from my previous drone is the built in 5-inch touch screen right in the remote. Has a great first-person view of what the drone is seeing in real time. Most have this feature but require connection to a phone to use its screen, which works, but it’s a bit of a pain pairing and matching and making it all work together – this has a beautiful touchscreen built in! The GPS function works well and is a very cool feature. The drone knows where it takes off from and then has automatic return to home if it gets lost or low battery. I’ve literally had the drone so far away that I could no longer see it or hear it and the on-board picture cut out. Within a few minutes I heard it buzzing along and it came right back to where it took off for a perfect landing. There’s also a simple “return to home” button on the remote if you want to avoid that drama. Control range and continued first person view is impressive as well. It’s advertised at 3 kilometers, or just under 2 miles, and I’ve stretched it all the way out to that. It’s a little nerve racking because that’s to the point that I can no longer see the thing, but again in a pinch, it simply returns to its original takeoff location. Battery life is excellent at about 20 minutes per charge which is perfect because it’s about the extent of my attention span. If 20 minutes isn’t long enough for you then just be happy that it comes with two batteries. Charge time is about 3 hours, which is fine when using a recommended 5v 2A charger block, but I wish I could use my stronger charging blocks for these batteries. For whatever reason the included battery chargers won’t accept current from a stronger charger, they just simply won’t work. I’m still playing with that to see if it’s possible to get a faster charge but haven’t figured it out yet. As for the interface and controls, this drone is very straight forward and easy to use. The quick start guide explains all the controls fairly quickly and easily and gets you off and flying in about 5 minutes. For more detailed controls and functions, I had to read the actual book, but it was all still fairly simple. The last thing I’ll touch on is the drone’s size. It’s a small collapsible quad and comes with a perfectly sized and laid out carrying case to maintain everything. Compartmentalized to store and transport everything. The full case is smaller than my children’s lunch boxes for school. Also on the size, this drone weighs in at 249 grams, meaning no need to register it with the FAA, which I think anyone could appreciate. Overall, this drone has been really great and a lot of fun for my kids and me. We love just flying around the neighborhood or setting the “follow me” mode while riding bikes or playing sports. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
