Crash And Burn
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not like to write a negative review but this computer crashed with a blue screen of death after only 17 days. The cause was fatal video error. The computer handled all of the games I throw at it. For the most part, up to the point it crashed it was a good computer. So I returned the computer and the manager at the return deck said it was only a programming error without even look at it and said I should have bought an extended service plan. No, it should have never crashed after only 17 days.

All info on the laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello! My name is Mr.GamingLaptop. You can find me on YouTube. I have 27,847 subscribers. I was a gaming laptop reviewer for over 6 years and have reviewed more than 59 gaming laptops. Today I will be going over the specs, pros and cons and the aspects of this laptop. Starting things off, Dell is a computer and tech brand with more than 30 years in the tech industry. So the laptop itself has a 1920 x 1080 1080p screen that comes with a TN Panel. I know how some of you have heard about the TN Panel screen and how it sucks. Well now Dell has come up with a solution to make things right. They included an option for an IPS Panel or 4K. The specs of the laptop include a 7th Generation Intel Core i5 with an option of a Core i7. It has 8GB of Ram and 1 TB of Hard Drive Space. You can upgrade the laptop with better specs but will need you to cash in. For a budget gaming laptop starting at $799 this includes a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. That will give you solid performance for most titles while running at high settings. There is an option to add an SSD on the regular model and an addition of adding up to 32 GB of Ram. Overall the laptop is solid for the price. So for the ending of this review or you can check my YouTube Channel on this laptop review these are the pros and cons. Pros: Good Gaming Laptop for the Price Backlit Keyboard Includes a GTX 1050 Upgradeable Cons: Comes with a bad screen Not the brightest backlit keyboard

Too heavy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer was recommended to me for the power. It was too heavy and not fast enough to justify the weight of it. I needed something very portable. This would have killed my back and shoulder carrying it through the airport. Returned it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the computer for about 2 weeks when all of a sudden it had a BSOD.... The Blue Screen of Death, brought it back and got the New HP OMEN much better computer. BestBuy handled the switch very well. While I would not recommend the Dell... I would recommend BESTBUY. They are fair and neutral.

Piece of crap...
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is worthless. The first on I've bought broke down after one day (freezed few minutes after power up). I've had it replaced at the store (no problems with that)... and it broke just after the warranty expired (again started to freeze just after power up). It turned out to be some kind of a problem with GTX 1050 chip. The chip is irreplace'able. Fixing involves replacing entire main board which costs more than I've paid for it... I'm very disappointed with this laptop...

terrible everything
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have this laptop for a year now. We use it for 2 things. My 12 year old use it for minecraft and I use it mainly to download photos and upload to FB. That's it. I have had nothing but problems. The laptop freezes, takes forever to update and at times just won't work. The worst part is calling Dell support. Every time, it's let's run a few test, everything looks fine if you need further assistance please buy the extended warranty. This is within the first year. The product is crap, the service is crap.

Posted .yogidang,
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing freezing with your computer. Here are some steps to diagnose the freezing:
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

Terrible laptop DO NOT BUY
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This might be the worst laptop I have ever had. After a couple months it got to where it took forever to turn on and simply things like using google were painfully slow. We took it to the geek squad and they sent it back to Dell because the motherboard was bad. Dell fixed it under warranty but here we are about a year later and same problems. I feel like Dell literally stole my money.

Junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hard drive died within two months. Dell replaced since under warranty. Has died/had to be refreshed several times since. Died last week (a couple days after our year was up) & now Geek Squad can't tell us what the issue specifically is, just that it's a hardware issue so it has to be "sent off" for at least a couple of weeks. This is my son's computer that he needs for school & he has exams next week.

Operating System/Driver Bugs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you buy the laptop with Windows 10, watch out. We had to take ithe first one back to the Geek Squad twice due to crashing issues. They weren't able to resolve them, so they gave us another laptop. That one crashed as well, and was unable to be fixed. We ended up returning the laptop to Best Buy. They were very nice about the situation and took it back without hesitation After trying to fix the issue.

Great Laptop thus far, will update over time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start with, I will say that I am something of a technophile and I am one of those who builds their own PCs for gaming and what have you--basically, I'd consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to tech and I don't just buy anything and everything without research. I mainly eyed this laptop due to the wonderful sale price of $699 versus the included spec. Even at it's full price of 800 though, this is a pretty great bang for you buck sort of purchase. You're getting a quad-core processor, 8GBs of RAM, a discrete (read: separate) graphics card of the Nvidia 10-series, and 1TB (1000 GBs) of hard drive storage. For the less tech-inclined, trust me when I say that this kind of package is normally right at $1000 or even over that so it's a pretty good deal. I personally went for the terabyte storage option versus the SSD of the more expensive configurations because I actually need the storage and I did not want to spend over $1000 for the one with SSD and HDD (I ran out of space on my 1TB twice on my old laptop). Getting into the actual operation of the laptop actually brings me to the reason why I took off one star. I had two specific problems that aren't major dealbreakers at all, but it is something that is worth noting and I recommend emulating the solutions I offer. The actual laptop is nice and snappy. Even though it takes a little bit to get going due to the first time setup (and not having an SSD to speed up this process), after everything is done, applications open fast and multitasking is very smooth. I was downloading, installing, internet browsing, and typing up documents in multiple tabs and programs during the first time setup and the computer was just flying. Here's the first caveat, however. I HIGHLY recommend that after you turn the laptop on and let Windows set up and everything, you IMMEDIATELY factory reset the PC and let Windows 10 clean install itself. The reason for this is because I found that Google Chrome and any other internet browser is extremely slow in loading pages if you leave everything as is. My internet connection is stellar and my older laptop still opened pages in an instant so with this spec, I knew it couldn't be the computer itself. Once I reset and reinstalled Windows 10, I haven't had that issue ever again. The second thing may only be a problem I, myself, have had. I have Steam on my computer (It's a program to download PC games) and it seems that while installing games, the speed of my internet browsers slows. I haven't figured out why this is, but it's easy enough to just install games overnight. Beyond those two problems I mentioned, the computer is pretty glorious. The spec is nice, the price is right, and it will definitely last you at least 3-4 years if you don't do anything crazy to it--maybe even longer. I'd be remiss, however, if I didn't mention the display. This is a point of contention with lots of people because the display Dell chose to install is not of great quality. The resolution is full HD, but the display uses a lower quality TN panel that has bad viewing angles and somewhat washed out color reproduction. I personally didn't mind this because I have a PC with an expensive monitor that fulfills my display needs and I feel like the issue was a bit overblown. You can adjust color settings in the Intel Graphics Settings or check around the internet to see what display profiles people used and copy those to improve things. As it stands, I recognize that the display is low quality, but I don't think it's a huge detriment considering the price and spec you get. Finally, I'll address some other common Dell complaints. The keyboard is full size with a full numpad and I haven't found it cramped in the slightest. I am a man with large hands and it still suits me just fine. The trackpad being off-center also does not bother me at all. I really don't understand why people make a big deal out of minor things like that and I've seen other Dell computers where the trackpad really was atrocious and in an even worse placement, but the way this laptop is setup is not bad at all. The keys are backlight in a red color and my only complaint there is it's not super bright, but I love the red accents. Hopefully, this review helps some people out and maybe puts to bed some myths about Dell computers. Just for reference, I'm coming from a Toshiba Satellite computer that was an i5 dual core, 6GBs of RAM, no discrete graphics card, and smaller. I buy mid-range laptops purposely because I don't need the power due to having an excellent PC, but I really don't regret going a little higher this time and purchasing this one. I didn't touch on gaming at all because I don't use this laptop for gaming, but I did test it out and it seems to play most modern games at high to max settings at 1080p so rest assured it can game as well as it processes. Enjoy your product!
