Great if you love chromebooks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a fan of chromebook as well as Dell products when it comes to laptops. The screen size 14” was too small for me. Did not have the many features I enjoy.

Great business/personal/premium chromebook
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook widens the spectrum for Dell from relatively basic education chromebooks to business/personal/premium chromebooks with the features typical in premium chromebooks and high performance. The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook is a departure from most of the earlier premium chromebooks like the Pixelbook that proceeded it. As far as I know it is only in the last year that 2-in-1 style chromebooks with 14 inch or larger and FHD and better displays were introduced to the market. The earlier premium chromebooks from Google and other manufacturers were in the 11 to 13 inch display size. The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook and new high end models from several other manufactures have 14 to 15.6 inch displays. The first impression of the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook I had is that it is an attractive laptop with a simple dark gray all aluminum exterior that feels really solid. After unpacking the laptop and connecting the power supply for the first time and powering it on to perform the initial setup I got a surprise I didn't expect, a couple seconds of fan noise that so far has not repeated since. It wasn't obvious to me from the specs. that the Inspiron has a cooling fan but it does. I haven't heard it again even after hours of streaming video from Netflix and the laptop has never become more then barely warm to the touch so far, I suspect the fan might kick on when the laptop is in tablet mode. The second impression I had is that the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook is it is heavy, it weighs 1 to 1.5 lbs more then the 11.6 to 12.5 inch display chromebooks I have been using. Because of the weight it might not be a good selection for a child other then for use on a desk or table. Personally I have found it to be the heaviest chromebook I care to use in the same fashion I use the Google Pixelbook for example. As far as speed it is fast, I compared the Inspiron with several different 2-in-1 chromebooks with the same 64bit chrome OS on the same version looking at the boot up time from power on to login prompt. The chromebooks all had 4GB or more of RAM and Intell processors. In the test were Pentium Core I5, Core I3, Core m3, and Intel Celeron processors. The Intel Core processor chromebooks had boot up times of eight to nine seconds and the Inspiron was actually the fastest I tried. t\The Celeron boot up time was fifteen seconds. The display on the Inspiron looks excellent, of the high end chrombooks I have much experience with I think only the Pixelbook and the Samsung Chromebook Pro 12.3 have an tiny edge in display performance. Battery life for the Inspiron is claimed to be up to 10 hours, the one check I have done so far was starting with a full battery I ran five hours of video streaming from Netflix followed by 2.5 hours of email and web browsing 7.5 hours of usage. At the end of the test the chrome OS power meter said the remaining power was 34% so 10 hours seems like a reasonable estimate since I like to recharge before the battery drops below 20% remaining. The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook has a full complement of features, 2-in-1 touch screen style, active stylus with dock built into the keyboard bottom, backlit keyboard, FHD 14 inch display, fast performance, large storage expandable with a micro SD card. Of the physical and functional features the only one I would consider a neutral point not a plus is the weight. I recommend the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebook to my friends and relatives as a best buy in a business/entertainment chromebook. Our household has two Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Chromebooks now

Great Chromebook, but heavy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Chromebook, fast and responsive. Having never used a Chromebook before, there was surprisingly very little learning curve. I only dropped my review to four stars because it’s a lot heavier than it looks.

Packs a punch!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a first or second generation Chromebook with this one. Honestly, there's almost no comparison. With the first Chromebook, it was a convenient tool for checking email, watching Netflix, or maybe downloading a small app for games. With this Dell Chromebook, well, I almost forgot it was a Chromebook. It definitely is premium and felt much more like using a regular laptop (in terms of functionality and capability). It's small but seems to be built incredibly well. I feel confident that it's sturdy and will hold up to long term use. Despite how sturdy and functional it is, it's also beautifully made/designed. It's super thin and looks professional. It's crazy to me that a Chromebook has a Solid State Drive, that's an amazing perk. Also, like so many laptops these days, this has the ability to be folded up and used like a tablet. The touchscreen is very responsive without being overly sensitive. You also get a stylus/pen that's built right in. I wish there had been something like this on the market when I was in school. This would make an amazing computer for a student (also great in a professional setting). I really have nothing negative to say about this. It's a powerful yet compact little machine that gives Chromebook quite a boost.

Forget what you think you know about Chromebooks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When someone mentioned Chromebook to me in the past, it elicited a mental image of a small, cheaply made, plastic-y laptop with a dull, washed out grainy screen. Well, I guess those days are over b/c this Dell is built like a premium laptop except that it is a Chromebook. So, in my mind, it combines the best of both worlds - the great build quality of a premium laptop with the great software of Chrome OS. The screen is retina class (like a Macbook Pro) and bright. As others have mentioned, the screen can flip over to go into a tablet-like mode or form a "tent" to go into an ergonomic, easy to use touchscreen, video watching mode. Chrome OS has matured tremendously and has become a viable operating system. The 4GB RAM doesn't seem to handicap this system in my experience so far. The 128GB storage is actually overkill in my opinion, as the whole purpose of Chrome OS is to store most things in the cloud. But, it's a nice feature and I assume that it is the bare minimum a consumer would expect to have in this premium class Chromebook. The only cons that I've come across is that the laptop is pretty heavy and I don't like the positioning of the stylus - I think it would've been nicer to have it insert into the side of the laptop.

Very nice chromebook!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My whole family loves this Dell Chromebook! It is definitely not what you think of when you hear Chromebook and that is a good thing. My daughter has a chromebook that does the basics, but this goes above and beyond. First of all, the setup was very easy to do. We also love how quickly it charges and how long it keeps the charge. We haven't timed how long the charge has been, but we haven't had to charge it for it for a while. We love how quickly the chromebook loads up, especially the kids as they seem to have less patience. The display on this Dell Chromebook is also very impressive. We love watching netflix at night on this and the picture is very nice. My kids have used it to do schoolwork on it and I have used it to do some work related jobs. This Dell Chromebook is a 2-in1, so having that option is great. At 14", once you flip it to a tablet, it isn't too cumbersome. When I have used it for work, I have also enjoyed having the option of using the stylus that comes with this Chromebook. Make sure you look under the chromebook to find the stylus. My wife uses the chromebook at night and she loves that the keyboard lights up really nice. The only complaint that we have about this chromebook, which isn't too bad, is that it only has one usb port. Overall, we are highly pleased with this Dell Chromebook. So if you are looking for an upgrade on your old Chromebook, consider this Dell as a great option.

Awesome Battery Life!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron Chromebook is an awesome laptop, mostly due to its large 14" screen, combined with a 10 hour battery life. That means you can spend plenty of time watching videos, writing, drawing, and doing other work, without worrying about the computer running out of juice. This can be especially valuable as a work computer, as it won't run out of power in a typical 8 hour day. Do keep in mind that the 10-hour battery is dependent on the amount of use and power drain. Using Bluetooth speakers, or having your brightness all the way up will reduce your battery time. This Chromebook starts up almost immediately, meaning you can get right to work, even at a moments notice. The backlit keyboard is also great, meaning that even if you are in a lecture or presentation with little or no lighting, you can still see the keys as you type. The pen that is included is awesome for taking notes or drawing, and it fits away in a compartment in the computer itself, so everything is self-contained. As with all Chromebooks, the Dell Inspiron Chromebook has access to the Google Play library, meaning that virtually any apps (or games) you use on your phone, will translate over to this device. This is includes Google Play books, which means you can use this as an eBook reader as well, but when using it as an eBook reader, I typically set it in front of me, as it is a bit heavy to hold for evening reading.

Simple and Useful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Dell Chromebook is everything you would need if you are a fan of Android and Google products. It's built like a tank and has beautiful design. The keyboard is great and it is back lit for those times when you're on your computer in the dark. The software was new to me since I've only used windows computers but it functions like an Android tablet. You can run everything you have on your Android phone on this laptop from messages to saved games and even boot up an online version of word docs that you don't need to purchase separately. There are some limitations in terms of power but the functionality is there. It does pretty much everything you would need in a laptop if you are a student or just casual user. I would recommend it if you have an Android phone and would like a seamless experience between being on your phone and moving onto your computer. I didn't think it would be useful or even cool for that matter but I really enjoyed it.

Amazing Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a long time windows and android user but this is my first experience with a Chromebook. I am amazed at how fast and easy this laptop is to use. The build feels like a quality laptop. The hinge feels very strong and reliable, no flimsy hinge here. The chromebook has every feature I wanted, stylus, uses the play store and apps, Intel i3 processor, large storage and touch screen, it ticked every box on my list. Overall I am very please and will update my review if my opinion changes. Kudos to the Best Buy ChromeBook specialist as he took all the time I needed showing me the features on this product before I ever accepted delivery. Great product and great service.

Great 2-in-1
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this unit. It starts up quick and converts to a tablet with just a flip. The integrated pen is a very nice surprise tucked on the bottom of the unit. Be prepared though. This unit is heavy to hold for even just a few minutes. If you want a 2-in-1 to take with you to write notes as you walk around, this unit will let you do it, but it's heavy to hold on your arm and hand. Other than that, this unit is fantastic. I look forward to completing many book writing sessions with it.

Honest Laptop View after 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would definitely recommend buying this Chromebook, please do consider the fact that I bought it when it was on sale for only $300. Getting a Chromebook changed my life in a good way. I'm used to the Windows laptops, but switching over to this Chromebook made life a little easier. Being a student this Chromebook is very ideal. The built-in stylus makes writing on PDFs very easy. Also, the split-screen capability has been very handy for cases where I don't want to keep switching tabs over and over again. I would especially recommend this laptop to google users, people who use google docs, slides, etc. This Chromebook provides many features to google apps. These are only a few amazing features of this laptop, don't doubt that there are many more that improved my daily life! But instead of blabbering on about the many pros here are some cons you might want to consider. I found that getting scratches on this was effortless. The small scratches or chips on the surface are not too huge for me, but when you notice, it could get a little annoying. I'm sure there is a way to fix or prevent these scratches though. Also with the Chrome OS, there are small limitations. The google play store is not as vast as I would like it to be, but it is still suitable. I mostly use the web browser. Also losing your stylus could be an issue. They do not sell individual replacements for this laptop's specific stylus that can fit into the slot. Losing it would be devastating, but it barely falls out of the laptop on its own. These are the few cons of this laptop for me. Even though I spent a lot of time writing about the cons, I still feel that this laptop is a must-buy, especially now when everything is more virtual. $500 is probably worth it for a laptop that will last you a very long time and give you ease in your daily life.
