I have it for around one week and I liked it so far. It is gorgeous, light, thin, without noise of fan. I like its touch screen and its pen to use as tablet. Its battery life is good around 9h. Its 4k screen is nice. I like its keyboard and its fingerprint key for easy log in. The only problem that I have had after updating the windows for the first time is that, when I tried to turn it on I saw a blue screen and I am not sure how serious it can be. I tried to restart it but it didn't work but after 30 min I tried again and I could turn it on again. It didn't happen anymore. Anyway after first time I tried to deactive the option for auto updating the windows. But I still recommend this laptop to others.

Amazing laptop in this price range. Have been using it for about 2 years now for programming, school work and light gaming and it does everything perfectly. The graphics card is good enough for light to medium level graphic intensive tasks. Not recommended for Photo and Video editing and graphic design work.
The 4K screen is absolutely stunning and helps you work longer hours without any kind of eye strain/headache.
The intel i7 chip is blazing fast for single core tasks and is actually better than the overhyped “Ryzen” chip.
Also has a pen garage which prevents the pen from loosing. An amazing product for a college/ high school student.

A 2-in-1 laptop with a fast and smooth experience.

This Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 laptop is a great choice for those who are looking for a faster and smoother experience. Dell is a trusted American computer brand with great customer service. This laptop has specifications that can be seen on laptops with much higher price tags, including 16GBs of memory and a 512GB SSD. If you’re buying a new laptop in 2019, get one with a solid state drive like this one. It’s much faster, meaning a better experience. It’s ready to go in less than 30 seconds.
Visually speaking, this laptop looks great in black. It’s sleek, modern and streamlined, and it has a nice high quality feel to it.
Is this a gaming laptop? Yes and no. It comes installed with a 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card and a quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, which does make it possible to play video games, but don’t expect to be able to play the newest games with max settings.
I play video games mostly on my Xbox One X, so I was able to connect my Xbox One controller to the laptop through Bluetooth. I installed Forza Motorsport 7 which is a 100GB download through the Windows Store. The store throttled my download speed down to 20 Mbps, so it took about 9 - 10 hours for the download to finish. The game works fine on the laptop, and the Xbox One controller responds as expected. The game ran on Dynamic Low in 720p, which is obviously not as crisp as its Xbox One X counterpart, but quite nice for a more portable setup. I suggest sticking to games that are less demanding.
Whatever you do with this laptop, you will be amazed by the gorgeous 4K display. It looks wonderful with a sharp, bright and detailed image. I truly enjoy looking at it, and haven’t been this impressed with a laptop screen since I got my retina MacBook Pro back in 2012. The screen also has the benefit of being touchscreen so you can use it as a big tablet if you want.
A pleasant surprise for me personally was when I discovered that this laptop comes with a stylus, the Dell Active Pen. It makes drawing/painting so much fun, and I can’t recommend it enough for any creative person out there. I’m no artist, but I’m having so much fun with it anyway.
The keyboard is very comfortable. It’s backlit in case you do a lot of late night typing on airplanes or in dark spaces, and it has a pleasant feel and sound. The power button is also a fingerprint scanner, so that you can unlock it with your fingerprint. It works very fast, but I’m still deciding whether it’s in the right spot or not. If you have something right next to the laptop on the right side, it feels a little awkward to put your finger down on the scanner. Other than that, it works very quickly and recognizes my fingerprint, most of the time. I do recommend against using your thumb, as it encourages an awkward pose while unlocking your computer.
I’m never a huge fan of laptop touchpads, and if I had to point out one weakness, it’s the touchpad. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad, but I will point out a few weaknesses. It doesn’t respond well to holding, for example moving an icon. I might have to repeat the action a few times. As a right-handed person, I’m not a big fan of it being on the left side. Maybe the benefit is that you can rest your arm on your stomach depending on your position, but I still would prefer it in the center.
The built-in stereo speakers are just okay. The sound is kind of tinny, so don’t expect a lot of low end. I never expect much from laptop speakers so I always use headphones or speakers. I tried connecting this to a bluetooth speaker and syncing was easy. It improved the sound tremendously. You can also improve the sound through the included software.
Battery life felt normal for a laptop, I would say an average of 4 - 5 hours of actual usage, but it depends heavily on how you use it. It might last about 2 hours of gaming. It does allow fast charging so that you can charge it up again pretty fast. An hour charge can get you back up to about 80 - 90 %.
Before I wrap this up, just a heads up, this laptop does not include a built-in DVD/CD drive. I also want to make a correction. The Best Buy specifications say no webcam, but it does have a webcam. For photos it’s 0.9 Megapixels and for videos it’s 720p. That might sound a little low, but the image quality is actually very nice with a good white balance. There is an SD card reader but only microSD.
Overall, I really like this laptop and I’ll be using it for years forward. I am upgrading from a 2017 HP laptop, and even though they share some of the same specs, this one is the true winner. I’m very satisfied.

Fantastic laptop for gaming and productivity!

I have used this DELL 4k laptop for about a week and it has been fantastic for productivity and gaming! The Solid state drive and the bigger ram makes this lightning fast in everything you do, from starting up the computer, loading programs, multiitasking and everything you do on the laptop. The pen is a nice bonus and is really nice for artists to draw, there is even a slot for the pen to rest below the screen that fits in perfect. The screen is nice, clear, sharp and some of the best resolution out there. The speakers are booming at times and can be a little loud. I ran some Gears of War 4 on this PC and it runs smooth as a charm, no lag and looked great on the 4k screen, gaming was fun and convienient, i was able to stream my xbox and lay back in bed to play with an xbox one controller, love how the way this worked. Only thing i didnt care for was how huge and awkward the tablet mode is, the thing weighs like 8 lbs so using it as a tablet is not really light and portable as most devices. The mobile connect option is really cool as you can take your calls and texts through the PC similar to the way mac and iphone works. This computer is also very slim for all the high end parts they have packed into this computer. I highly recommend this computer for all gamers and workplace professionals.

Powerful Laptop with Great Features
|

I am very impressed with this Dell Inspiron and pleasantly surprised by how many features have been included.
First of all, the Core i7 processor speeds up many tasks and the 16GB RAM is necessary to run Windows 10 comfortably. Some machines skimp with lesser processors or settle for 8GB RAM but not this one. I find it quite snappy to open apps and generally do any of my usual tasks although newer games still take a while to load up – which is to be expected.
The 512GB SSD is fast but may run out of space quickly if you put a few modern games on it. I added a couple I owned on a different platform but they started to fill the drive up. You could always use an external drive for games, which over the included USB 3.0 connections should work well. If you just stick to cloud storage and personal documents, the 512B SSD is quite roomy for both the Windows operating system and personal documents.
The 15.6” screen is gorgeous – I was blown away by the way it renders some images. With 4K display and the ability to show colors in high dynamic range, it will impress you. I noticed that the pre-loaded Dell software had a program for Dolby Vision installed and as I have Dolby Vision on a couple of my TVs, I was interested to compare it to the laptop screen. I fired up Netflix and streamed “Drive to Survive” which was filmed in both 4K and Dolby Vision and the picture was stunning for a computer screen.
I tried a couple of games on the laptop as well. They looked excellent and made use of the HDR capabilities of the laptop. The games compared well to how they run on my console and I was impressed that a laptop video card was running so smoothly.
The NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card seems robust and the onboard 2GB GDDR5 memory seemed to do well when I ran benchmark software against it.
The screen is touch screen as well as able to support the included stylus. I have not tested the stylus/pen very much but my quick plays in Word showed it to be fairly responsive and accurately recording my sketches and handwriting. The stylus stores neatly in a magnetized slot in the display hinge. The buttons on the stylus worked well and allowed me to erase and perform other functions built into the Office suite. I’m not a student but if I was, this functionality would be incredible.
The screen and keyboard can be manipulated so that the laptop turns into something resembling a tablet. It’s a heavy tablet (the keyboard can’t be removed) but useful for extended note taking with the stylus or reading via an app. You can also arrange the screen like a tent, which could be useful if following a video tutorial in the kitchen for example, saving the keyboard from getting any ingredients on it!
The combination ‘On button” and fingerprint reader seems to work well although it sits anonymously at the top right of the keyboard and does not light up like the other keys do when backlit. I set up finger print logon for myself and my wife and it has been rock solid when switching between user profiles.
The sound was mostly good although the lack of any bass or low frequency was very noticeable. There are probably not many options to improve this but I liked the mid range and thought that vocals were very clear. Sound in games was good although I would probably just plug gaming headphones in to play longer term. The SoundMaxx app appeared to have settings to add surround sound for headphones so that was covered. TV shows were very clear when I streamed them and I would have no complaints taking the laptop on trips and relying on the built-in speakers.
The CinemaStream feature, which tames your wireless channels so they will stream videos or music without buffering, seems to work well. I ran Netflix for a while to try to get it to stutter but it ramped up the 4K stream very quickly and never dropped it or buffered the whole time I watched.
The battery seems to last well so far. I haven’t yet used it enough to say how good it is and obviously battery usage changes depending on how much load the system is under – games and heavy wireless Internet usage will push it very hard. Charging is very fast though – even when run down, I noticed that the ExpressCharge feature was charging it back up rapidly and I could use it again much quicker than I am used to with other laptops and batteries.
All in all, this is a fantastic laptop and so far, the best I have owned or used. It is a little heavy but in the acceptable range and worth the extra weight for the features that are packed in. As a casual, home use laptop, it won’t be pushed anywhere near its limits but I could see this being an exceptional laptop for a student, with the speed, storage and note taking capabilities they require, as well as some fun features for recreation time.

The touch screen is nice and I love the Tablet mode. The touch pen that comes with is also nice and has a holder for it just above the keyboard. PROS:
– Construction
– Screen
– Speed
– Battery life
– Fingerprint sensor
CONS:
– Weight
– Pen
– Cost
Construction: This is the most expensive computer I've ever purchased whole, so I feel like I have to justify owning it. After buying Acers all my life for their thrift and after loving each for a year or two, then being invariably disappointed when they showed flaws as a result of cheap construction, it's nice to have a computer that's so sturdily built. I don't expect my Dell to fall apart any time soon.
Screen: I haven't used a 4K screen except on TVs and desktops before, and I can't extol its virtues on this Inspiron enough. I typically use 200% display scale in Windows Settings so I can actually read anything, but at that scale everything looks insanely crisp. It's very hard to see individual pixels from more than an inch away. The screen gets very bright without guzzling battery, and shows colors as well as any other.
Speed: Unsurprisingly for a computer equipped with an SSD and an i7 processor, there's virtually no lag when logging in, opening apps like Spotify or PowerPoint, or playing media. Every animation is smooth and every action lightning-fast, like Windows 10 was designed to look. Windows Insider updates are fast too—the computer's only unusable for thirty seconds, a minute at most. The included Mobile Connect app by Screenovate is notable and works better than Microsoft's Your Phone app. The Inspiron does need two or three seconds to start Inkscape, but since it took twenty seconds on my last laptop (and that's fast), I don't mind.
Battery life: I'm used to laptops and two-in-ones lasting 2 to 4 hours before they need to be plugged in, which is inconvenient. The Inspiron is a welcome respite: it takes 6 to 8 hours at medium brightness before I feel like I need to plug it in—and I don't always need to plug it in after every use. This was important to me this time around, so I'm glad I went with this product.
Fingerprint sensor: Placing the fingerprint sensor in the power key was a great idea—especially since the key is aesthetically similar to the rest of the keyboard. You can turn on the computer and log in with a single touch. This even works when it's being used as a tablet, when the keyboard is deactivated, which surprised me. Speaking of keyboards, I don't really care about illumination, but if that's your thing, this one works well. The keyboard is also very easy to use and types like a charm.
Weight: This isn't a light computer by any means, but I wasn't expecting a netbook. It's pretty portable and works well as a tablet without losing any power. I will say that it's not really a bed computer—it can get a little warm when on a fabric surface in laptop mode. The large bottom bezel makes it look very strange in tent mode, but in the other modes it looks lovely.
Pen: I haven't owned a computer with a pen before, but I get the sense that this one could be better. It stores magnetically (the force honestly shocked me), which is nice, but the back end has an uncomfortable concave shape for some reason. That end isn't even functional—it would be nice if it worked as an eraser. Instead, you have to click one of the buttons on the side to erase, which doesn't feel natural. Actions aren't customizable through Settings. The touchpad and touch screen are both very accurate and responsive, which I feel obviates the need for the pen at all. It's nice, but I rarely use it.
Cost: This computer is EXPENSIVE, since you pay for what you get. I like that I bought it at a slight discount, but if you're not looking for all the perks I mentioned above, I see no reason not to get a cheaper computer.

Solid All-Around Performer

I've had this laptop for about a week now and I have to say I am absolutely IN LOVE! This bad boy is BEAUTIFUL to look at with its matte black casing (that is, unfortunately, prone to fingerprints), slim screen bezels and awesome 4k display. It's also a solid performer easily handling anything I've thrown its way. It opens web pages and applications instantly, multi tasks like a dream and even handles moderate gaming. It is no way a gaming rig but it does perform better than expected. I can play SWTOR on high settings in 1080p resolution, Fallout 76 on low (1080p) and even handled Gears of War 4 at medium settings all with minimal-to-no lag. I am planning, though, on adding an external GPU for high performance gaming while at home! The included stylus is an interesting addition, however, I have not really messed with it too much. The little bit of light doodling I have done on Bamboo worked surprisingly well though. It is worth noting that the device is rather heavy to use in tablet mode but what do you expect from an almost 16 inch screen?
Overall I would recommend to anyone who wants a solid performing, mobile rig.

This laptop is awesome! Kinda light weight but still sturdy.. great battery life, 15” display is crystal clear, touch sreen with the pen is a nice feature. I haven’t had the chance to really mess with the tablet features of this laptop but so far it has been handling a lot of processing load. Best Laptop For Getting Work Done!

I was in desperate need for a laptop upgrade. I set my eyes on the Microsoft Surface book 2 and had already planned to purchased that laptop the moment I went out to Bestbuy. I still wasn't sold on the price, but I was still trying to find reasons to stick to my plan. Talking to the sales rep kind of eased my decision and helped me make the best decision possible. Although, I loved the the design of the surface book 2, I couldn't deny the hardware specs for this comparable model. This was pretty much double the hardware specs and for much less. The keypad is also a bonus as I do a lot of number crunching and I definitely like the lit keyboard. I still get a 2-in-1 fold to use as a tablet and I love the dedicated graphics card. All in all, coming from an HP laptop loyalist, I've never owned a dell laptop before. I'd have to say I'm definitely at ease that I made this choice to purchase this laptop and look forward to getting lots of work done!

This computer is actually really great. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the pen came broken (and I haven't been able to get a replacement, the spring that holds the battery in place fell out), and the battery is not the best. Which isn't to say it is bad.
This is my fourth computer in less that a month from Best Buy. The first three were HPs, after the third one, I decided to try Dell. It has worked wonderfully for me. I love the pen garage. I love the keyboard. I love the operating system. Overall a great computer.
My only other complaint is a high whining type noise when the computer is running. It isn't loud, just very high pitched and can get annoying. I'm not sure if it is a fan issue or something I could fix, haven't looked in to it yet.
I would definitely recommend this machine. It's pros outweigh the cons by a mile.

I dont really use this laptop to game but it can... kinda. The 4k display is super great and clear. Screen is glossy but some like that. They give you a pen but it's the one of the cheapest available. Buying the premium pen definately is a benifit but the one they give you would work for doodles and taking down notes.
The battery is not so much 9 hours I've never seen on half brightness and the standard battery setting. You'll get around maybe 7 with doing nothing and actively maybe you'd get 5 hours usually. The keyboard is not they best ome available but it's great still and barely any flex to it. The fingerprint scanner for me was a fail I had to reset it every other time I used it so I ended up just using a pin.
Camera is great and comes with some cool features that I havent seen talked about like its ability to blur background and focus on you specifically in video chats.
Lapstop is super fast, it could be faster with upgrades but that's for someone else whose more savvy.
Overall the only negatives I could give is when it converts it easy to scratch the paint on the outside edge of your laptop so be careful when setting it in tablet mode or standing it up in tablet mode. I got scratched the first time it did it because I didnt pick it up to open it to stand on its own.

Great laptop, love the built in pen. Performance keeps up with all my software and programs without sacrificing speed or screen quality. Only complaint would be the weight...my prior laptop that was similar and had many of the same physical features (touch screen, tablet mode, same screen size, etc) was much lighter and easier to carry around (I attend a lot of conferences and use the laptop in tablet mode to take notes). Overall a great purchase and worth the money spent.

The laptop looks great, and is a good value for its price. Can be folded into one of four different forms based on what's convenient, and its design makes it look sleek regardless of the form. Build in pen holder and the fact it comes with a pen is also really convenient in certain situations (although the pen is on the lower-end when it comes to having different features/functionalities). The fact that the keyboard has a number pad is also really nice, since I'm someone that finds it hard to work without it.
What I don't like is how bad the built-in camera is for a laptop that has a 4K resolution screen. The camera is also not good enough to be used with Windows Hello to log in, which would have been a nice alternative for logging in without inputting a password, since the fingerprint reader is underwhelming and rarely works for me. But sadly, the camera isn't advanced enough for Windows Hello's facial recognition feature. That's probably my biggest complaint about the laptop, since the camera is lagging behind everything else the laptop has by far.
Also, perhaps this is up to taste, but the laptop could have been smaller (but keeping the screen and keyboard the same size), by getting rid of that huge chunk of space under the screen where the Dell logo is, and making the touchpad a bit smaller to match the dimensions of the two flaps. But that would also mean less room for the internal parts, which would have driven up the cost. This one's a more minor complaint compared to the camera.
It also would have been nice if they included two USB-C ports instead of just one.
But overall, I would still recommend this laptop if it is in your price range. Especially so if you don't mind the aforementioned downsides of the laptop.

Excellent screen resolution and clarity. This laptop is oddly heavy for a slim frame. The battery does seem to lose charge a bit quick as well.
This is a very well built computer and screaming fast! The biggest complaint I have is the location of the touchpad. It feels (at least for me) to be too far to the left. I keep hitting the right click instead of the left. If Dell modifies the ergonomics and battery life - this is easily a 10 star!

Specs compare to a MBP and this dell has all I need to do my work. It handles AutoCAD smoothly. It has some of the coil sound coming from the keyboard and it annoys me when I work in a too quiet environment. It comes loaded with crap software so be prepared to do a clean up. It is worthy. Battery lasts about 10 hours. And the 4k is just beautiful. I would give 5 stars if it didn't have the coil sound issue.

The Inspiron line has always been made and used by the average everyday consumer that wants a decent laptop for everyday use. The 7000 line is made for those of us that want a slightly more premium feel and better performance. With a 15.6 inch FHD display the color accuracy is just good enough to slip by for basic design work. The performance is slightly better than other laptops in this class. My primary use case is YouTube, Netflix, web browsing and Microsoft word.
