This is Dell’s entry level monitor, but for the price its offerings are quite amazing. You have a 27” 1080p IPS panel with a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz and AMD Freesync. The monitor looks premium, with a sturdy stand and a glossy bezel. There are some cons, which include limited ports (1 HDMI and 1 VGA) and no built in speakers. Unfortunately, there is no audio output jack on this monitor you can use to grab audio from the HDMI in. Included in the box is everything you need to get up and running. An HDMI and power cord is included for cables. If you’re trying to connect using VGA, you’ll have to find that cable on your own. Thankfully, VGA is being phased out and you can pick them up for cheap. I am glad the Best Buy associate recommended the 27” Dell over an 24” with similar specs I was looking at. It was such a great deal on Black Friday that I bought another one as a gift for my mom. You can go into the settings in Windows 10 and increase the scale to make icons and font bigger. The physical size of the monitor is big enough to increase scaling in Windows and still have a lot of space left over on the screen. Some concern may be with the 1920x1080 resolution combined with the 27” screen but in my opinion, it is not a problem. Small text still looks sharp enough and is readable. Your local Best Buy may have one on display, so I recommend you check it out. A feature that gamers and casual users will both appreciate is the 75 Hz refresh rate. This makes using the display feel more “fluid.” It is something that is not described but seen in person. People say that once you go to a higher refresh rate you can’t go back. It may not seem like a big difference between 60 Hz, which is still the standard, but you can definitely tell the difference. To make sure you are running at 75 Hz, go into Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties for Display 1 > Monitor “tab” > Under Monitor Settings, select the Screen Refresh Rate dialog box and click on 75 Hertz. The steps are the same if you have a different monitor. You can use this monitor for PC gaming but there are definitely better choices available. This monitor features a max refresh rate of 75 Hz with AMD Freesync and 1080p resolution. If your PC is powerful enough, I would definitely suggest getting a higher refresh rate monitor like 144 Hz, with 2k or even 4k resolution (again, if your PC is powerful enough). You can even use this for consoles, just make sure you have an solution for the audio problem. In conclusion, Dell is offering an excellent monitor at an affordable price. If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to post a comment and I'll try to respond ASAP.

wow, straight out of the box videos on this monitor look great the color accuracy and the brightness need no adjusting some of you might be wondering, since it is 27" monitor is 1080P good enough? on this monitor, absolutely. There is no blurryness, no jagged edges. small text is perfectly readable. I have owned many monitors including dell ultrasharps and LG ultrawides, and in the past I would only recommend 2560 x 1440 for such a large screen but IPS and LED technology has come a long way. I bought this monitor because I needed something for the holidays while visiting relatives and it looked like this might be a good deal since I was pleased with my past dell ultrasharps, but let me tell you, this is a great deal. keep in mind, the monitor is cheap because it makes sacrfices, there are no speakers, there is only 1 hdmi input. I have this monitor paired with Insignia NS-HBTSS116 Powered Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers and a polk subwoofer and it is great for a mini home cinema experience on your PC and gaming rig. best buy frequently lists products on their ebay store like floor models or displays and you can get the NS-HBTSS116 for under 60$ and paired with this monitor gives you awesome sound with an amazing picture all for just over 200$? this is crazy value.

I bought this monitor primarily as a backup display for my PS4 and as an occasional second screen for my laptop when working at home. For both of these purposes this is an excellent monitor for the price. (I bought it during Best Buy's holiday sale at a significant discount on the retail price.) The visuals are crisp and didn't require calibration out of the box. The IPS panel is bright enough in daylight unless in direct sunlight. I have it set up in front of a window and viewing is comfortable all day. The monitor doesn't support vertical/portrait orientation, but the stand allows for some tilt along the y-axis (no horizontal movement, unfortunately). Two gripes I have about it are: a) the single HDMI port (the other one is a DVI port), and b) no audio jack, in case anyone wants to plug in a headset or speakers. But these don't bother me all that much and I knew about the cons before buying the monitor. I would recommend this monitor to console gamers who don't require 4K or HDR. I haven't noticed any input lag but please bear in mind that I almost exclusively play third-person adventure and action-RPGs. For a general purpose monitor attached to a laptop, the 27-inch size provides a lot of screen real-estate, and should be perfect for most needs.

If you need a big computer monitor and you can find this one on sale, as I did, it's hard to go wrong buying it. Worked as expected, instantly setting itself up using Windows 10, as most plug and play devices do these days. No software needed. No drivers. It just works. Even seems a tad faster with the FreeSync thing, which my other monitor lacks. And IPS gives it a wide viewing angle. (albeit with blacks that are a bit more muddy than non IPS screens). My only gripe is the default out of the box "standard" setting was a bit too warm (yellow cast) for me. Fortunately there are lots of other presets to choose from and I found "Movie" or "Multimedia" was just about perfect. Or you can go custom if so inclined. The tiny adjustment buttons are a little easier to figure out and use than on most modern monitors. Picture quality is nice and sharp using and HDMI connection. Text is excellent. Video is a tiny bit soft but not bad. Contrast is a bit lacking but nothing serious. Dell stuff is usually pretty reliable so that's good. One big bonus for those who always whine about the power status lights being too big and bright. This one has a light that is so tiny, you can barely see it and is only one color. White. It's steady, off or blinks depending on state. But tiny enough to be of little concern, even if always on.

Great compromise for gaming and general use

Initially, I was looking for a 4K monitor for gaming however given the current prices for true IPS 4K monitors are all north of $1000 I needed to bring my expectations back down to Earth. I re-evaluated my needs and wants and decided a compromise was needed. This monitor was going to be used primarily for general use (web, document editing, some photo editing, and gaming of course). With the higher than 60Mhz refresh rate and decent response time (6ms) at the $160 price point (on sale at the time of purchase) it really was an easy decision. Now that I have had it for a few days I have to say I am not at all regretting the purchase. I loaded up Fallout 4 with everything maxed out on my HP Omen 17t (Nvidia 1070 equipped) and there is absolutely no issues with tearing/ghosting. Of course it's not 4K but at this screen size it's hard to imagine how much better it can get at this price. I highly recommend this monitor. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this Dell monitor because the screen of my Lenovo Flex 15 laptop was too dim, even on the highest setting. After consulting Lenovo extensively, I found myself out of luck; the Flex 15's monitor is dim across the board. This monitor saved me. At a great price, the plug-and-play functionality worked perfectly with the included HDMI cable, and I was up-and-running in minutes. My chief concern was brightness, and this monitor more than delivers in this regard. I cannot speak to color spectrum and more "advanced" qualities of the monitor, since I am uneducated in these areas and don't really care about them, but for everyday internet and word processing, Excel, etc., this monitor truly excels. The stand it comes with is quite nice and easy to place the monitor on, but my one gripe is that it is not flexible. I would like to push the monitor toward the bottom of my desk as it is easier on the eyes to look down at the monitor rather than straight at it. However, this is a minor gripe, and at this price point, I wouldn't expect this flexibility; further, this gripe in no way takes this monitor down even a notch from the five-star rating I am providing. Fabulous job, Dell!

I went into Best Buy looking for a decent monitor that didn't break the bank. at 28 inches, 1080p, and freesync, you really can't go wrong here. Unfortunately, there are downsides to owning a Dell SE series monitor. Because of the matte screen and minimal settings, the monitor does not get as bright as I want it to. another downside to this monitor is that it is not VESA mount compatible. I wanted a little more desk space while using this monitor because the stand that it comes with is huge, so I picked up a monitor arm and when I went to go attach it to the monitor, there were no holes to accept the mount. Albeit a lesson that I learned the hard way, the lack of VESA mount compatibility would have been a deal breaker. Aside from this, if I have to be nit-picky, I would have appreciated a second HDMI port as it does only come with one. Although I can't recommend this monitor to be used at a main workstation or media hub, for daily use as a second screen for emails, web browsing, and the occasional movie, this is an adequate option for those who are on a budget and wanna get the most bang for your buck.

I got this today while it's on sale for $120 and it's a lot better than I expected. I have a deep desk and my head is about 3-4 feet from the monitor and I have no issues with the text at all. It doesn't look blurry, which is usually an issue at this size and resolution. Pictures and video look ok, but you're not going to be blown away just because you bought a bigger monitor. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a general use and/or work monitor, but not for photo editing/movies/games. It leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the overall image quality. The monitor wobbles quite a bit and the last 3 inches of the screen on the right side is darker than the rest of the display. I'm trying not to pay attention to it but it's staring at me... I'm returning it because of the wobble and dark side, but if I decide to get another I'll put it in my office instead of my home.

Received my monitor and installed it. Several problems right off the bat. 1: there is graduated gray sections extending at least 2" from both the left and right edges of the screen obviously due to the dispersion screen used with the 'edge LEDs' tech. A major defect. 2: There was a 1/2" scratch on the upper 1/3 of the screen. 3: The drivers for the monitor "stole" all my audio drivers. All audio is now routed to the monitor ... which doesn't have speakers! Can't even find my native audio drivers anymore. I'm really irked about this. I went into Dell support which was a worthless experiment totally. Dell doesn't support their products! I will be returning this Best Buy as soon as I can figure out how. I will try one more time but until then I don't even have audio! On the plus side though: the colors are right on the dot! 2.2 across the boar, which is amazing! I wanted this to work with on photographs, since that is what I do, which it does well ... except as noted above.

Dell makes a very good product. I needed a monitor to replace one from another manufacturer that died after the electricity in my house flashed on and off rapidly a couple of times. This is probably not the brightest monitor I have ever owned but I needed something large to review documents and it does that quite well. I set it to scale at 125% which makes reviewing documents even easier. I don't do gaming or watch videos so I can't really comment on how well it would perform for those tasks. But the best thing about it is that it was the least expensive 27" monitor I found anywhere and to get one manufactured by Dell was too good to pass up. This was an on line only price but I had it sent to my local store for free and picked it up there less than a week after ordering it.

I was looking for a 27" monitor (at a GREAT PRICE) to use as a second monitor with my 27" All In One HP that I purchased from Best Buy on last week. I tried a couple of other monitors but neither was what I was looking for. I searched Best Buy online and found this Dell monitor at a much lower price than other retail store websites. I knew from the moment I took it out of the box, that it'd be a great match and it pairs up perfectly! The picture quality is good, and the design of the DELL monitor compliments my other monitor. My search is over, I couldn't be happier. I recommend this monitor.

I was looking to get a 27 inch monitor for some time and the only thing that mattered to me was that it was an IPS panel and also on a budget and I thought I try this Dell monitor and it's a good monitor. I've had Dell monitors in the past and they always been solid and this monitor is also solid. It supports up to 1080p, the picture quality is good, has AMD freesync if you have a AMD graphics card and assembling the monitor stand is easy to do only thing is the buttons which is under the monitor is not that easy to navigate when you want to access the monitor settings but nowadays every monitor manufacture does the same thing putting the buttons at the bottom but overall this is a good 27' Inch monitor especially if your on a tight budget so yes I can recommend this.

I was absolutely shocked after purchasing these that Dell has no provisions to mount these! None. These are desktop only monitors. Who even builds TV's or monitor without the ability to be mounted??? I had major plans to mount these using a clamp on desk type mounting system only to discover that these have absolutely no method of mounting!?! You use the desk top stand or you just do not use them. I am besides myself on even how to proceed... This isn't the 1980's Dell, what office doesn't use some type of mounting??? UGH!!!! Total and complete shock at having to deal with all this... I mean good god, I'm not even an engineer and I can tell that you could provide, or sell separately, a bracket that would fit into the back of the monitor in order to mount these. I really thought Dell was designing things to work for people that live in the 21st century...

I saw this used on the new Dell Desktop that I was purchasing at the time and had to have it. I hadn't even really planned to buy a monitor but when I asked about it, the salesman checked and showed the only one they had was an open box unit. It looked brand new and I got a few bucks off so I went ahead. When I got home and opened the box it looked like someone had just opened the top; everything in there was packaged like new. Plus it was Best Buy so I knew if there was an issue, it would be resolved. That's one of the main reasons I buy from BB - excellent customer service and hassle free replacements if there is an issue. So in short - Monitor is awesome, Best Buy is excellent.

It is a good monitor, but it’s a little old for today’s standards. Today I found a curved Samsung monitor 32” for the same price at a local Costco store, so there are better offers out there. However that doesn’t mean that this monitor is bad, it is thicker and it doesn’t tilt up and down, but the quality is decent and if you’re not looking to use it for anything very demanding like Gaming it should be fine, I currently have it as a dual monitor set up and I mainly use it to program and do school assignments and no complaints.

I am currently using 2 of these Dell - SE2717HR 27" IPS LED FHD FreeSync Monitors coupled with the Dell 3100 dock. The twin displays make completing work in my home office a breeze. I will never go back to working off of a single laptop screen. In regards to the monitors themselves, the color/brightness is adequate to do just about any home office work. I only use the basics like Microsoft Office and some company proprietary programs, so I'm not completing anything video editing or hardcore gaming that would possibly require a more expensive model. This does EXACTLY what I need it to do and more for a business only monitor.

first off, this panel is good and produce great color and brightness but one thing that make it a 2-stars rating is that its won't play nice with my Acer 20-inch monitor. when I play my games, this panel screen tent to go black for a second or more. first I though it was t he HDMI cable so I exchange it and still getting the black screen when gaming. now I decide to stick with just a single panel for now, I will see if t he problem contiune otherwise I will take to BestBuy Greek Squad for a check up since I also got a 4-years protection plan. this does not happen when I use Samsung Curve 27-inch 1080p monitor. for now I will leave it 2-star rating

I decided to upgrade from a 22" monitor. This 27" monitor is huge! The picture is amazing. I'm just using the standard VGA hookup. You don't have to use an HDMI cable to get a dazzling display. The driver software has a display manager where you can select different window panes for display (see uploaded print for the different configurations). You can throw a spreadsheet into a large pane and still have a browser window and file explorer box and see everything at once. This was definitely a steal when it was on sale at $149!

I spent a little more than a month looking for a quality monitor at a reasonable price to use for photo editing in Lightroom. This is a great looking monitor and the image quality is very nice. Its a great monitor all around, so much so that I ended up buying a second matching monitor. I highly recommend this monitor. keep in mind if you buy 2, there was one HDMI and one VGA connection in the back, so i bought a HDMI to VGI cable for higher visual quality. One more thing to keep in mind is this does not have holes in the back for a vesa mount. However, I found a VESA Mount Adapter that allowed me to mount to a VESA mount. This set me back about another $60 but totally worth it.

I made this purchase quickly as it was on sale, without much research based on its specifications and others reviews. Initially, once I got it set up I didn't see the defects (2 vertical and 2 horizontal) pixel lines as I was testing movies/gaming. When I went to desktop use, they were obvious with any solid white background. Replacing the HDMI cable didn't make a difference. For the price at the time I don't think you can do better, assuming there are no defects in the screen. I decided to return it however, because this model wasn't carried in the store (ordered online) and I decided I wanted to get something bigger that could be wall mounted.
