This is a great vacuum. It's smaller than my previous hoover, lighter and provides better suction. Converting to use the wand takes some practice and the hose is a bit stiff, but totally worth it for the performance. I wish there was a place to store the upholstery tool on the vacuum, but all the other attachments fit nicely.

The suction power on this thing is incredible. It pulls up more dirt and dust than any other vacuum I have used. The construction feels very sturdy, and it is easily maneuvered into any space that needs clean. As far as vacuums go it's pretty light as well, which is nice for cleaning stairs or simply going up and down them.

To say I am frugal is an understatement. But, my husband did the work, read the reviews and so we went to check it out in the store. A smooth surface is not really the way to check out the suction of a vacuum, but this Dyson machine actually works really well. We have 2 cats (one long hair, one medium hair). The vacuum cleans up really well on floor, low carpet, rugs, and plush carpet. And, it is easy to maneuver. Plus clean-up is easy. And, you get attachment which is really a plus. And, while not the most expensive model it works great.

I bad the original Dyson Ball Animal which lasted me almost 10 years and thought this one would be the same with some improvements. Unfortunately, they made this worse in more ways than one.
First, the brush roller now manages to pull dog hair into the roller/motor mechanism, causing it to lock up and emit a burning smell. You have to take the brush roller completely apart I’m order to cut the hair off the hidden portions of the roller assembly. And if you have let hair like we do, you’ll be doing this several times a year. I’m nearly 10 years, i never once had to do this with my older model. They also added more suction to this unit but the problem is that it’s now TOO powerful. On our dense carpeting, the vacuum is literally stuck to the floor and the brush roller struggles to move, causing a burning smell like we’re damaging it because it can’t move freely. It’s so hard to push, you swear it’s like pushing a 50lb vacuum cleaner that’s made out of lead.
I hated this thing so much I went looking at other brands. Fortunately the Animal 3 fixes these issues but I’m ticked that I threw away several hundred dollars on this only to have to replace it a year later when the newer model came out.
The only reason I didn’t give it 1 star is because when used on things like hard floors or a thin area rug, it does a great job and the bin and filters are still easy to clean.

Compared to this vacuum, our previous vacuums did nothing. Firstly, it was very easy to assemble and to use. The suction on this is amazing and gives your arm a bit of a work out but its worth it. Our old carpet hasn't looked this good in years. It was shocking to see very visible and immediate results from this vacuum. I paid full price for this thing and I'd do again happily. There's no going back, baby! I'm hooked on this sucker.

We do have pets. The day we purchased this, we had already used our old vacuum. We came right behind with this one and couldn't believe how much it picked up. The carpets even appeared brighter. Most definitely worth the extra money. Very easy to use and good on hard surfaces as well.

Purchased to replace an older Dyson model. The increased suction and ease of use made this a great improvement over the older model.
Easy to use and maneuverable, fairly light weight. The transition from hard surfaces to rugs is a nice feature.
A few very minor comments:
1. Miss the retractable cord feature.
2. The hose is pretty stiff when using the wand and attachments. I would expect that to loosen up over time.

We have two giant, hairy dogs. Had a DC 14 dyson since 2002 and after it met a human induced faillure (oops) we replaced with this Ball Animal 2. This thing is great. It has really good suction and pulls so much dirt and dog hair/dander out of the carpets. The real win though is how easy it is to maintain. The long dog hairs clog up every vacuum. This one has a nice open window to the beater brush and you can easily clean it without dismantling anything, or even needing tools (I use scissors as my pry's hair is like wire and much easier to strip out if I cut along the beater first). The canister fills quickly, the down side of it being so effective at cleaning carpets - more stuff! - but is easy to empty.
Only grumble, on the DC 14 all the pipes and hoses are easily removed to clean if they clog. On this one, there is one short pipe that is fixed in place and if the clog is in the middle of the pipe, you can't reach far enough with fingers to dislodge it. It takes finding something pokey to clear it out. That's happened once after a round of christmas tree pine needles and dog hair ambushed the dyson. Quick prod with a small knife and it was back in action again. Overall very happy with it. We don't use half the tools we get with it - just one attachment for stairs usually. The rest seem to be fluff. Half the time I just use the hose/wand without an attachment anyway if I'm trying to get in corner.s The suctions good enough you really don't need a fine nozzle attachment to create the suction.

This vacuum has excellent power for cleaning up after pet and it is easy to maneuver and saves time when cleaning. The extra long extension cord and attachments included make it versatile and efficient while cleaning carpet, wood floors, stairs, and window sills.

I have used quite a few vacuums in my life so far and this has the best suction of all. Since i have multiple types of carpets, i have been able to use it on different surfaces/types. If the carpet is a stand alone carpet and kinda on the think side, this vacuum has too much suction for those carpets. Synthetic long fiber carpets (Costco) is a little taxing but cleans is so well. By previous Hoover didn't pull the fibers as this vacuum does and this Dyson has been able to clean deep down in this long fiber carpet. Very impressed. I have a woolen short fiber carpet and this suction is pulling the wool out. So as suggested by Dyson in that case stop the roller. As previous comparison with my Hoover, the Dyson was able to pull 2 hard to get contaminants which i thought were spots all this time. Used the Dyson and they're gone.
I highly recommend this vacuum. it's worth the price.

We had just vacuumed our carpets that day with our old Hoover but we used our new dyson ball animal 2 to see how it works and it picked up so much the old Hoover had left behind ,
easy to push and navigate around things with a long cord and very good suction . We are so happy with our
purchase.

The Dyson Ball Animal 2 is an outstanding vacuum. I bought this to replace my old Dyson Animal that I gave to my father. There was nothing wrong with the old one; I just wanted to give it to my father. I love Dyson's due to the suction power and the ease of getting around furniture. The Animal Ball vacuums with ease and is light-weight. The extended wand makes getting into corners a breeze and never fails to suck up all the dust. As is the norm, emptying is fast and easy. I love my Animal Ball 2!

This is a fabulous vacuum for a home with pets! It works beautifully on all flooring surfaces I have. I’m always amazed when I see the debris in the canister. My previous vacuum never achieved the level of cleaning that my Dyson does!

The assembly is easy and in no time you can start vacuuming using this powerful vacuum cleaner. This is the most powerful vacuum cleaner I have ever used. It picks up dirt on any surface and it has a bigger motor and chamber. This helps to vacuum for a longer time before emptying the chamber very often. Its very pricey though. Also the parts of this are not as sturdy as its predecessor. Overall, I recommend a strong buy of this product.

This is my second Dyson I got one 13 years ago because I was tired of spending $150 on a crappy upright every two years. So I took the leap and spent the extra money and it was worth it. The old one is still functioning properly but my wife wanted a new one. I thought they would be the same but this one is even better than the first. Great suction and very easy to use. Love the long electrical chord. Allows me to reach the entire floor while only plugging into one central location. I highly recommend a Dyson!!

Cleaning suction is fantastic. Easy to maneuver, goes under furniture to get dirt too. It was a little hard to put together, instructions not very clear. This upright appears less sturdy than my old Dyson, but time will tell whether that makes a difference.

We had the older style yellow Dyson vacuum before this but the latch broke where the handle goes in so we decided to get a new one. We were always happy with the performance of the old one but since we have cats now we decided to get the Animal version. All I can say is I had no idea how much wasn't getting picked up before. This thing is powerful and pulls up all the hair that the cats leave around. Even off of a wool rug that has a habit of holding onto the shed fur. So much so that we have a throw rug that we can't use it on because it just sucks it up into the vacuum. My only complaint is because of the ball style, it doesn't seem that sturdy when locking it into place for storage. I worry about the longevity of that piece. It's much easier to maneuver around furniture though so I guess it is worth the trade off. Overall a very good vacuum and worth the money.

Been using this for about a week. I have 3 dogs. Two are Australian Shepherds and One Golden Retriever. So you can imagine how much dog hair is on our carpet and tile floors after a few days. And this vacuum is AMAZING we had other vacuums before Shark and Bissell are the two we’ve recently had which were good vacuums. But they never were this powerful in sucking up stuff on the ground and collecting dog hair. One thing I will give as a form of advice when using the hose make sure you pull the extension part out until you hear a click or it will poke into the hose if you are bending it to get to certain areas. But if you pull until it clicks into place then you can use the hose extension without having to worry at all! Definitely thought I was going to be over paying for this vacuum but after using it I can see why it’s about double the price of our previous vacuum. Which to sum it up is because of how strong it is at sucking things up and getting everything on the ground. Plus it has two filters. One in the side of the ball. And where the cap is to dump out what you collect. It states it’s certified in helping with allergies and asthma. I can’t verify if that’s accurate but with their being two filters when I am used to only seeing one. I could see it being true.

Does a good job picking up pet hair and anything else. Great suction. Fairly light weight. A little hard to push on thicker carpet but not a big deal. Does a nice job with hard wood floors and transitioning from carpet to hard flooring.
