Dyson - the top name for clean air

Have always had air filters/cleaners in the home, even more so since the pandemic and, more recently, the spate of Canadian wildfires that have influenced air quality over a large region. Prior to this Dyson De-NOx, I've had a previous and very similar version, the Dyson Formaldehyde, which has served me well for nearly the past two years. Set on Auto, there's barely a whisper coming from it unless there's some cleaning product in use, some vacuuming, cooking, etc. During last year's round of Canadian & local wildfires, it would automatically shift into high gear. It was only yesterday there was another round of wildfires; I had recently set up the De-NOx, which was operating silently for 3 days, on the day's news there were reports of wildfire smoke/ unhealthy air in the region. I opened the door to let the dogs out and within 30 seconds the Dyson detected the unclean air and ramped itself up to high speed. Within the past couple of days, I came across another instance of the efficiency of the De-NOx. In my home I have the kitchen, living room, dining room in a circular format, with open space between them all. I have the De-Nox located in the dining room. In the living room I have a Samsung Bespoke Cube air cleaner, another high end product. Whenever we would turn on the stove, the Samsung would report "GAS" on its display - and I would wonder "what gas?" The stove has electronic ignition, it's not like we're leaving the gas on and lighting it with a match; I don't smell anything; why is it reporting a problem? It's only now after reading into the reason for the De-Nox that I understand that it detects the products of combustion and is able with its specialized filtering to clear these by-products from the air. A great feature of the company's products is their app. I've gone through too many products with apps that won't install, are hard to navigate, and have minimal features. The Dyson app quickly installed, is intuitive to navigate, and is feature loaded. I can see current conditions & status, operate the various features of the machine, and it maintains a history over time of foul air conditions and the time it takes to resolve them. I'm very happy with the performance of both my Dyson's and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve the air quality of their homes.

    Fantastic Air Filter and Fan

This is my first Dyson product. Up until recently, I thought their primary claim to fame were vacuum cleaners. Of which I have never been a fan. Dyson’s air purifier, the PC2 De-NOx, is an odd-looking contraption that seems to favor gimmick over function. Why else would Dyson go with a strange air spitting oval design over a traditional vertical or horizontal mounted spindle fan? And every single air purifier I have owned up until now was built around a vertically mounted spindle fan design. The PC2 De-NOx is not what I would call a traditional design. The air enters the base of the PC2 De-NOx, passes through the filters, and then is released through outlets in the oval tower. The PC2 De-NOx has a few unique tricks that I have never seen in an air purifier before. First, the base rotates up to 350-degree arc. So, instead of being limited to upwards and outwards air circulation of a traditional air purifier, I can circulate the air around the room along the horizontal plain. This also provides the cooling benefits of a traditional fan. Second, the PC2 De-NOx can push the air out the front of the giant oval tower or out the sides. Overall, do I like it? I didn’t think I would. But so far it has done an excellent job in every room I have put it in. Let’s get into it. Setup and operation: Setup and Operation can be as easy as unpacking, plug in to power, and click the on button. However, you will want to set up the app to take advantage of all the PC2 De-NOx features. Air Quality: I point to a few examples of air quality below in relation to specific functions. I wanted to point out some specifics here. First, the PC2 De-NOx worked just fine on my first floor rooms such as the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. The air quality in my upstairs this time of year is usually pretty good. My basement is a different story. I have a livable basement where my wife has a craft area and I have a home theater/stereo room. And, like most basements, mine has a particular smell.. The room is temperature and humidity-controlled year round but, still, the smells of the earth around the foundation still make their way into the basement. I typically have a “name not mentioned” air purifier running 24/7 on auto mode. The darn thing never stops, and the basement never really seems to smell any better. I put the PC2 De-NOx in the same spot and set it to auto. The smells in the space where gone within an hour. Just to be mean, I moved the PC2 De-NOx to a small workshop I carved out of my basement. The sump pit is in that room. As such, the room typically has a musty smell about it. I set up the PC2 De-NOx, set it to auto, and within an hour that room also smelled a lot better. Fan modes: The PC2 De-NOx has multiple fan modes. Auto works directly with the built in air filtration functions. The PC2 De-NOx’s fan ramps up as pollutants are detected and then ramps down as the level of air born pollutants decreases or are eliminated. To test, I lit a candle and blew out the flame. This created a bunch of smoke in the room. The PC2 De-NOx automatically detected the smoke, spun up to about 6 or 7 on the speed meter, and cleared the room of smoke in a few minutes. The unit then spun down to an almost undetectable fan speed when the smoke was cleared. The PC2 De-NOx also has 10 fan speeds. The speeds can be manually set either via the app or the remote control. The fan speed is displayed on the PC2 De-NOx base’s LED screen as well as in the app. The large oval shape of the air outlet is purposely shaped to accelerate air through the opening. Thus, reinforcing the airflow from the air outlets in the tower. Honestly, I stuck my arm through the oval and didn’t feel any significant air flow increase at any speed. It may be just a gimmick, or I may simply be misunderstanding the purpose of the towers design. I can say for certain that air does not exit along the entire surface of the oval. The opening is a single unbroken depression along the front face, but the air outlets are only along the long edges of the oval. However, the PC2 De-NOx does something no other fan or air purifier dies. Along the outside of the oval is another depression. It looks like an air intake. It is not. With the press of a button, the PC2 De-NOx will redirect the air output from the front of the oval to either side of the oval. This allows the PC2 De-NOx to up to a 360-degree air coverage. Pretty neat. Finally, I find the air flow more pleasing than a traditional fan. Odd, but true. First, there are ten speed settings; meaning I am not locked into the low, medium, high of other fans. Second, since I have greater control over the air pressure, I can control the intensity of the air flow. This is important to me when I’m sleeping. I like air but I have never been a big fan of being blasted by the fans. Third, it is much quieter at lower fan speeds than most fans I have owned. Finally, the PC2 De-NOx does not vibrate my floors. Meaning, I cannot hear it in my basement, in my home theater, like I can a traditional room fan. Trust me, that low frequency hum that is transmitted through the floor is very annoying. Air filter: My other air filters draw air in from the bottom and blow it out the top. In a dusty room, I can literally see the updraft launching more dust into higher into the room than drawing it into the filter. The PC2 De-NOx does a better job in my opinion. First, the intake is 360 degrees. It literally rests on the floor. Finally, it does not launch the air particles to the ceiling like my other air filters. The air filters still have that new air filter smell but not as awful as some other manufacturers’ air filters. All modern air filters seem to share the same smell. The difference is that the PC2 De-NOx’s air filter’s odor is lighter and dissipates quicker. Replacing the air filter is a bit more complicated than other machines from other manufacturers. The HEPA and K-Carbon air filters are in four parts and fit together like a clamshell: the HEPA filter on the outside and the K-Carbon filter on the inside. The filter covers are also of a clamshell design. To replace, you need to depress two buttons located on either side of the base and pull the clamshell apart at the same time. The seals on the HEPA filter are a tight fit which makes the hand gymnastics a bit more challenging than other designs. Metrics: The PC2 De-NOx captures, displays, and tracks metrics on Air Quality, PM2.5, PM10, HCHO, VOC, NO2, Temperature, and Humidity. The metrics are displayed by the hour and up to a week can be viewed by the app. There is also a feature that runs a report. However, I have run the PC2 De-NOx long enough yet to generate a full report. The current metrics are always available either via the LCD in the base of the PC2 De-NOx or from the app. I found the app infinitely more useful than the LCD screen for viewing metrics over time. It is also easier to skip through all the metrics via the app than via the LCD screen. If the PC2 De-NOx is in auto mode, then it will display exactly which kind of pollutant it is responding to as the fan ramps up and engages to clean the pollutant out of the air. It will not tell you exactly what the pollutant is such as dog fart or burnt popcorn. Final thoughts: I was skeptical that I would like a Dyson product. Not only do I like the PC2 De-NOx. It performs better and is more flexible than any other air purifier PC2 De-NOx I have ever owned. It’s actually a pretty awesome product. The application captures plenty of real-time information both indoors and outdoors. And I have full control of the PC2 De-NOx’s operations from the comfort of my couch. It does an excellent job of keeping my home theater smelling fresh. It is quite at slower speeds. And it does not create any unwanted room resonances. Overall, I am very pleased with the PC2 De-NOx. I hope you found this review useful.

I am absolutely blown away by the Dyson Purifier Cool. I bought this to help with seasonal allergies and improve the air quality in my apartment, and the difference has been immediate and incredible. The air genuinely feels cleaner and smells fresher. Cooking odors disappear in minutes, and I've been waking up without the usual congestion. What I love: Powerful Purification: The auto mode is brilliant. It detects changes in air quality and adjusts itself perfectly. It's so reassuring to check the MyDyson app and see a real-time graph of my air quality improving. Impressive Cooling: The fan is powerful and circulates air throughout the entire room. The 350° oscillation is fantastic, ensuring there are no stuffy corners. It's been a lifesaver on warmer days. Smart and Convenient: Setup with the app was seamless. I love being able to control the purifier from my phone, whether I'm on the couch or on my way home. The magnetic remote is a small but genius touch—no more searching for it! Stunning Design: It looks sleek and modern. The white and gold finish is beautiful, making it look more like a piece of decor than an appliance. Plus, it's whisper-quiet on the lower settings, which is perfect for sleeping. This was an investment, but it's worth every penny for the improvement in my home's comfort and air quality. If you're considering it, just do it. You won't regret it!

You can count on Dyson to offer something innovative and in this case they combined a dual sided oscillating fan with an air purifier. Sure, it’s a low level of genius here but I’ve often wondered why indoor air purifiers don’t double as fans, because they actively blow air to filter it anyway. Might as well give that clean projectile air a purpose. As a fan, it has 10 speed levels, oscillates between 45, 90, 180, and 350 degrees, and can blow air either from the front or back, but not both at the same time. At high speeds it sounds a bit like a laptop fan, but is mostly quiet at medium to low speeds. It’s good for a medium sized room, but it’s more of a gentle wind than gusts of air. The only thing I found wanting for was the lack of a breeze mode. I had an old tower fan that legitimately made it feel and sound like a breeze and I was surprised a Dyson fan wouldn’t have that option. Or is it an air purifier first and fan second? As an air purifier, it sucks in air through the walls of the round base and filters air from all sides. The filters are HEPA+ Carbon and you can track their cycle lifespan in the MyDyson app. And like the more advanced air purifiers of today, it actively monitors and cleans Formaldehyde (HCHO), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Nitrogen dioxide and combustion gases (NO2), and Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10). You can get a live and historical reading on the fan display and app, however the readout is kind of hidden in the app. There isn’t a button, but it’ll show up if you swipe up with a single finger. You can also control the fan through the app, but it comes with a nice little remote so you can fight over the settings with someone else in the room. The remote wins for tactile feedback, but the app wins in range (WiFi). If you’re in the market for a quality air purifier, this Dyson has you covered and it even doubles as a fan! It should look great in most homes and the filters are easy to change. I really wish there was a breeze mode (can a software update offer this?), but outside of that it’s been a really cool addition to my home. It’s not going to wow you with gusts of air, but it does a great job making the room a more comfortable place. PROS - Classy modern design - Good fit and finish - Easy to read display - Easy to use app - Detects and filters Formaldehyde (HCHO), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Nitrogen dioxide and combustion gases (NO2), and Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10) - Monitors temperature and humidity - Comes with a nice, matching remote - Can also use phone app as remote - Purifies air as it fans - Blows air from either side - Can adjust oscillation between 45/90/180/350 - Quiet at low speeds CONS - Sounds like a laptop fan at higher speeds - Seemingly no breeze mode - Auto mode for air purification, not temperature

This Dyson purifier came mostly in one piece from my carrier might recommend picking this up from the store if you can. This is my second Dyson purifier in the house. We live in Arizona and I always call this the dust bowl. I’ve had sinus issues my entire life done surgeries etc and living here makes me paranoid because all the crap in the air. No matter how good your HVAC system is our house filtration is living out here for me requires extra interior filtration. The Dyson has products seem to have the very best actual filters on the market. This Dyson purifier cool de-nox has a hepa H13 filter and k-carbon filtration. Using carbon for filtration of dust particles works great and the hepa filter captures things flying around and the app tells you what’s going on with the air inside my house which I really appreciate. This also has voice command although I havnt used that yet and it comes with a small remote that has a few buttons like on and off etc. A quick hint, store the remote on the top of the filter it has a magnet. For a fan, well it works ok and is quiet on speeds 1-8 but once you get to 9 and 10 it gets loud. I do enjoy the breeze from it but it’s 110 outside this is a normal flow fan ok for smaller areas or as an addition to an AC. Overall I love this thing it just looks cool

My first dabble with Dyson was a vacuum cleaner. Needless to say, I have not used another brand since then. The brand takes their research and development very seriously resulting in very robust products, in my opinion. Their Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx in a White/Gold color combination is no exception to the brand’s legendary craftmanship and robustness. As packaged: • Dyson - Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx - White/Gold • Remote control • Combined HEPA and K-Carbon filter (installed in device) • Compliance and benefits literature Having an idea of the air quality data is essential to everyone especially for sensitive groups of the population. Dyson’s Purifier Cool PC2 De-Nox is equipped with sensors to monitor the air quality (i.e. PM2.5, PM10, HCHO/Formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and Nitrogen dioxide). It goes a step further by monitoring temperature and humidity levels while purifying the air in its environment to healthier levels. Dyson states Purification is facilitated by means of two filters: a formaldehyde-destroying catalytic filter which never needs replacing and a fully sealed 3-stage HEPA H13 plus K-Carbon filter (infused with Potassium carbonate which makes the device capable of absorbing about 50 percent more nitrous dioxide.) The HEPA plus K-Carbon filter requires changing every 12 months with an average 12-hour daily use. It is worth noting that purification by the HEPA H13 filter itself, results in the removal of about 99.97 percent of air particles as tiny as 0.3 microns. In summary the device provides advanced air purification while removing formaldehyde and nitrous dioxide at a rate of about 76 gallons per second. While not an air conditioner, the device can provide a cooling effect when needed in especially hotter seasons. The overall height of the device is a little over 41 inches. A loop amplifier (where air flows out) and the main body (where air flows in) are the two main components. The main body is rigidly connected to the loop amplifier and swivels on a base. This allows an impressive 350 degrees of rotation. At just under 11lbs, the device can be easily moved around when needed. On the main body is a color LCD monitor where data real time air quality, temperature, humidity and remaining filter life can be reviewed. Set up is simple. The provided QR code will help navigate a user to the appropriate app store to install the MyDyson app. After creating an account and providing location and permission details, the device should appear on the app for pairing. Wi-Fi connection is next and the available SSIDs should be displayed. This connection enables remote access and also allows the device to receive updates when available. A location inside your home can be designated for your device on the app. Finally, your city or town location entered in the app will provide air quality data where available to help provide comparison on the air quality inside and outside your home. The provided remote control is light. It is a joy to use and can be magnetically stowed atop the loop amplifier so you can always find it when you need it. The bottom of the remote has a transparent cover which provides the user with a glimpse of the replaceable battery (CR2032). The remote control has six buttons and a toggle for the airflow speed control. Impressively, the MyDyson app can be used for all the features the remote is capable of. As an additional benefit, the user has the option of linking with Google, Siri or Amazon Alexa should they prefer. In my experience, while Google integrates the device into Google Home for voice/app control and home integration/automation, the air quality information as provided by the MyDyson app is not provided. Operation is simple and very intuitive. The information button located on the top right-hand side of the remote cycles through information on air quality (i.e. PM2.5, PM10, HCHO/Formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and Nitrogen dioxide), temperature, humidity and remaining filter life on the LCD. It is interesting to note that while the MyDyson app provides the remaining filter life as a percentage, the graphic on the unit display is a filter with an indication of the extent of usage. There is also a cool animation which precedes this data, detailing how to get to the filter when needed. MyDyson app has links to also help you order the specific filter for the model. • Auto mode: ramps up and reduces the airflow speed as needed depending on the air quality analyzed. • Direction: switches the airflow from the front to the rear of the loop amplifier. • Oscillation: sets rotation angle between zero and 350 degrees. • Night mode/Sleep timer: device operates with dimmed LCD screen and quietest fan settings. The button also provides sleep timer options on the physical remote In my experience the lowest airflow fan speed of 1 registered about 38.3dB while the highest speed of 10 registered about 51.6dB. Changing the filter when needed is simple. The process to reset the filter minder is even simpler; a five second press of the Night mode button completes a filter reset. I am very satisfied with the performance of Dyson’s Purifier Cool PC2 De-Nox. While it appears just as well-built as the company is known for, the user also receives two years of warranty for an added piece of mind. Home integration and ease make this device a joy to use while maintaining a healthy air environment for everyone. I definitely recommend.

A Beautifully Designed Top Notch Purifier

Absolutely loving my Dyson Cool De-NOx purifier! As an asthmatic, and someone who lives near foothills that have endured several brush fires, I'm a huge proponent of having air purifiers in my home. One of the key features I look for in a high performance air purifier these days is whether it contains an actual HEPA filter. A lot of purifiers on the market contain "HEPA-like" filters. The problem is that these "HEPA-like" filters don't meet the stringent HEPA standards that require a 99.97% filtration efficiency for particles as small as 0.3 microns. This Dyson Cool PC2 De-NOx contains a fully sealed 3-stage HEPA H13 filter. H13 and H14 HEPA filters are considered medical grade and thus you can rest assured that you're getting a high-quality filter. I've placed my Dyson PC2 in my living room so that it's near my kitchen. When cooking, I tend to frequently pan sear on a cast iron skillet using high heat. As a result, I tend to get a lot of smoke in my living room. This Dyson Cool PC2 purifier did a phenomenal job of not only quickly filtering out all the smoke in my living room, but also did a great job of eliminating all of the cooking odors. Thanks to it's K-Carbon filter, it even helps eliminate nitrogen dioxide (NO2) which can also be released during cooking. Even at the mere spray of cologne near the Dyson PC2, it immediately detects a change in air quality (see attached pics) and the level of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and begins it's filtration process. To top this all off, I love that Dyson has now outfitted this purifier with a catalytic filter which is designed to capture and eliminate formaldehyde indoors. In terms of the airflow, the stream of purified air that is expelled by this unit is decently strong. Even when sitting 10 feet away, I can easily feel the projection. I love that this purifier oscillates between 45, 90, 180, and even 350 degrees! If you have this centrally placed in a room, it will circulate purified air even quicker due to the 350 degree oscillation. I also like that if you ever start to get a bit chilly from the airflow, this unit has a "diffused mode" which diverts the purified airflow through the back the machine. While the integrated LED display does a good job of displaying the current air quality status, VOC levels, NO2, PM2.5, PM10, humidity, temperature, and HCHO (formaldehyde) levels, you can also monitor all of these statistics directly from the iOS or Android mobile app. All of the functions that are found on the physical remote control can be executed directly from the app. One of my favorite features of the app is that you get historical data analysis of the air quality, along with the various other indoor pollutants previously mentioned. To monitor all of this data at all times, even when your Dyson air purifier is turned off, I highly recommend turning on "Continuous monitoring" within the app. Otherwise, this data will only be recorded when the unit is operational. Once you have this feature turned on, the app will even produce a machine air quality report for you. I also like that the app keeps track of the remaining air filter life in your unit. Overall, I'm a huge fan of the Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx. My favorite way to use it has been to manually select the airflow rate, depending on either the room temperature or if I'm cooking, and then setting it to "Auto" mode whenever I'm at work or if I'm leaving the house. This way it can conserve energy while I'm not home, but still react to any pollutants that might make it indoors through cracks and crevices. Coming from a 3 year-old Dyson purifier, I love the generational improvements that Dyson has made on this machine, such as adding a catalytic filter that destroys formaldehyde, getting rid of the massive power brick on the power cord, and an upgraded K-Carbon filter which can supposedly absorb 50% more nitrogen dioxide (NO2). My only minor caveat with these Dyson purifiers is that their filters can get rather pricey. However, what I think makes up for this, is that Dyson not only uses high quality HEPA filters, but most importantly, they keep the same replaceable filters around for a while. I can't stress enough how important this is. It's utterly disappointing when I purchase a household appliance, only to realize a couple of years later that the manufacturer no longer makes a filter for my appliance because they've redesigned all their filters for new products. Dyson, if you're reading this, please keep the same replaceable filters around for as long as possible! It's part of what makes your products great! In any case, for people with respiratory illnesses such as allergies and asthma, pet owners that want to eliminate odors, people that love to cook, people that live in dry mountainous type areas where brushfires are a recurring theme, or just people that live in the city that want the cleanest air possible in their homes, I highly recommend checking out this Dyson Cool PC2 De-NoX purifier!

A must-have if you run gas appliances in your home

[ Summary upfront] The Dyson Purifier Cool De-NOx PC2 comes fully assembled and is ready for use immediately upon opening the box. It works stand-alone with the supplied remote control and/or through the Dyson app, which provides additional information, such as informing and monitoring your home’s air quality, enabling the customization of all features, and notifying you when the combo HEPA + K-Carbon filter needs to be replaced. As with everything from Dyson, the design is simply beautiful, white/gold, and it complements (living room) furniture beautifully (or, in my case, my Bowers & Wilkins speakers; see picture). Note the golden remote control magnetically attached to the top of the loop amplifier for storage purposes. In comparison to other Dyson fans, this one appears to be sturdier and, excitingly, not plastic-y, thanks to its larger base and metal housing (in gold color) for the filters. With its advanced air quality monitoring, relatively quiet airflow, and effective air filtration (including capturing nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), which can be a harmful indoor pollutant produced by cooking and burning fuels, generated from sources like gas appliances, open flames, wood-burning stoves), the Dyson Purifier Cool De-NOx PC2 is a wonderful option for not only the hot summer months but year around. Depending on your hearing sensitivity and whether you are in a city environment with constant noise, running the system in your bedroom at night might not be the best choice, especially when you appreciate pure quietness. The system features integrated air quality sensors and a color display on the base, providing real-time information on air quality. When in Auto mode, the system adjusts wind speeds automatically to remove pollutants. In my case, the Auto mode resulted in a constant level-2 wind speed, which is audible in quiet places. You can also monitor and control the system, set schedules, and receive personalized air quality reports through the Dyson app (see screen captures). I am giving this fan a well-deserved 5 stars, and can very highly recommend it. You can't go wrong with this one, in particular, when you cook with natural or propane gas or enjoy wood-burning fireplaces. If you live in the city, this system would also purify the air from car emissions. [Additional Details] (1) HEPA H13 means High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter with a specific level, H13, of filtration efficiency within the HEPA classification system. H13 = removal of a minimum of 99.95% of airborne particles that are 0.3 microns (µm) or larger in diameter. (2) This system is not an air conditioner and does not have a temperature sensor, and as such, it has no means to regulate the ambient temperature. Cooling is achieved through a powerful airflow. Alternatively, using "Diffused Mode" diverts airflow through the back of the purifier, and as such, it will purify without cooling. (3) According to the Dyson website, the 360-degree HEPA H13 + Carbon filters need replacing every 6 months (when operated 24 hours/day) and can be purchased through the Dyson app and website. 4) The base hosts the On/Off switch and an LCD screen (which is dimmable by selecting "Night Mode"), which informs of basic information about the system (e.g., wind speed) and air quality in real-time. This system is controlled entirely by a small remote control that can be magnetically attached to the top of the fan and the Dyson app. While this design makes this system appear modern and elegant, it also makes it nearly impossible to control the appliance if you misplace the remote control or lose your internet connection (for app control). (5) Excitingly, Dyson fixed the remote control for this system: You can control the system perfectly fine without pointing it directly towards the base or LCD screen. This was a serious shortcoming with other Dyson fans. But the remote control of the Dyson Purifier Cool De-NOx PC2 works flawlessly from the sides. Well done, Dyson! [More details on the 3-filter system: HEPA H13 + K-Carbon Filter + Catalytic filter] The Dyson Purifier Cool De-NOx PC2 utilizes a three-stage, fully sealed filtration system and includes the following capabilities: - HEPA H13 filter: Captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including microscopic allergens and pollutants - K-Carbon filter: This filter is impregnated with potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃) and is designed to capture 50% more nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), which can be a harmful indoor pollutant produced by things like cooking and burning fuels, generated from sources like gas appliances, open flames, wood-burning stoves, and vehicle emissions, especially important in city environments. It also removes other odors and gases, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can come from cleaning products. - Catalytic filter: This filter is specifically designed to continuously destroy formaldehyde by converting it into water and carbon dioxide, and unlike other filters, this one never needs replacing.

I needed to replace a SKYE Air+Health purifier in my great room that had some issues with bearings or something and was making wobbly whooooo kind of noises even on the lowest setting. I have an old Dyson AM02 that I use as a fan in this room for years so I hoped this could replace both of those items in a single unit. I've been using a Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP04 for a few years and really like the functionality. Works great as a little space heater or fan as well as the purification feature. Good noise levels and always unobtrusive. I had no reason to expect this one to be any different. But when I got it unboxed, I was just completely disappointed at the noise levels when the fan was on hight. I wanted something quieter than my ancient AM02 fan, and technically this WAS quieter, but BARELY. The noise level was just unacceptable compared to the other Dyson purifier I had. So there was no way I was going to replace two units with this. I ended up replacing the two units, but the purifier with another brand, and the fan with a newer version of the fan. The Dyson AM07 I ended up with is a fraction of the noise of the old AM02, or even this purifier.

Everything was normal for the first few days, then the purifier started emitting a burning/smokey smell. I turned it off for a few hours and let the room clear out with my other Dyson purifier. Tried this new one again, and same thing. A weird burning type smell. Not a fire burning smell or electrical smell. Hard to describe. Not pleasant either way. I had to return this one.

I have been using this purifier for a few weeks now and have really enjoyed having it in my game room. Set-up was very easy, it is fully assembled out of the box all you have to do is remove all the packing material. There is a good bit of plastic film used but otherwise its all recyclable cardboard. Getting it added to the mydyson app was smooth and painless, it was automatically in pairing mode when I turned it on for the first time and it immediately popped up as an available device. The app has a pretty nice design to it, showing you a variety of things like outdoor temp, indoor temp, AQI, and has a bunch of graphs showing what its been filtering recently. You can control the fan speed and oscillation setting from the app as well as the included remote. Performance seems good it will automatically speed up and slow down the fan speed based on the pollutants it detects, will also kick up when I cook bacon on my gas stove, so I keep it in auto mode most of the time. It is very quiet at its lower settings, at the high settings you can definitely tell it is pushing some air, combined with its oscillation options it provides good coverage for my space. It looks to be a true sealed HEPA filter design, it also has an additional carbon filter so it'll remove odors along with its dust filtration capabilities. Overall it does a good job and I feel like it has improved the space I use it in so I would definitely recommend considering it if your in the market for a new HEPA filter.

If I had only one thing to say about the Dyson Cool PC2 fan, it’d be that it looks nice. In my living room, the PC2 replaced a Dreo brushless motor oscillating fan I’ve had for about a year and a half. I bought the Dreo to replace a noisy tower fan that I’d had for 10-years. The Dreo was advertised as nearly silent and it in fact was nearly silent other than the sound of the wind it generated. The Dyson PC2 on the other hand is not such a silent machine. That’s no surprise given that it doubles as an air purifier as well as a fan. That said, I haven’t really grown used to the increased noise of this fan and I find it more of a nuisance since it’s in the same room I like to watch TV and movies. I’ve had to accommodate with a louder volume on the TV. What I would have loved is if there were a way to disable to air purification settings on the fan, I assume that would make it quieter instantly. Plus, since it’s always purifying the air, I’m worried that the filters are going to need to be replaced more frequently… and those filters are just shy of $80 MSRP on Dyson’s website… So, it’s a loud fan that costs a lot the more often you want to use it. Does it actually cool your room, like the name indicates “Dyson Purifier Cool PC2”? That’s up for debate, but I’d say no from my experience, and Dyson’s documentation seems to indicate that it’s more of a marketing thing that a “concentrated blade of air can actively cool you”, you know, like a fan should. So what does it have going for it? Well, you can track in-home air pollutants in real time on the built-in screen or via Dyson’s app for the fan. It looks really pretty in your house, and given its bladeless design it’s definitely a conversation starter. You can adjust the oscillation levels between 45-120* to focus cooling on a specific area. And if you need to pump air out of a room, you can reverse the way the air passes through the fan so it blows out the back. Overall, this is an extremely expensive fan that looks nice and that’s about it.

When you open the box of the Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx its a very simple set up. There is only the unit, the remote control, and the HEPA +K-Carbon air filters. The setup was simple with a QR code that help download the MyDyson app. I just needed to create an account, connect to Wi-Fi, and enter some data to be ready to go. My family and I suffer from terrible allergies and we are always looking for remedies to ease our suffering. The Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 is an advanced air purification system that removes odors and gases and continuosly destroys formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound common indoors. The Dyson is an air purifyer and a fan. The HEPA filter traps 99.97% of particles like dust, pollen, and pet dander) while the K-Carbon later removes odors and gases. It helps absorb up to 50% more nitrogen dioxide which is a harmful gas released during cooking, open flames, or wood stoves. The built in sensors measure air quality continuously, updating and you can see the readings on the LCD screen or on the MyDyson app. You can adjust the unit manually or set it to auto mode, where it increases filtration when it senses pollution. What I like about this unit is that is is both an air purifyer and a fan. It blows cool air while it is removing the toxins from the air. While it is on the pricy side, Dyson is a quality brand you can trust. I definitly recommend this product.
