I used to use the prior HD60S capture card until the next gen Xbox Series X and Series S with the PS5 consoles came out to stream and capture FPS analyzes footage for my YouTube channel, but with the ability to do 120 FPS on the new consoles I stopped and got discouraged to stream using the capture cards that El Gato provided until now.
Now with the new ElGato HD60X I get to game on my Xbox Series S at 120 FPS with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) so the input latency is delayed a bit and I don't have to sacrifice the higher fps in order to record and stream at the same time.
The downside to this card, hence the 4 stars, is that it is a 120 FPS VRR limit at 1080P and not 1440P. it does VRR at 1440p or 4k but not at 120 HZ/FPS. I have tried updating both console and capture card, main computer and the actual HDMI cables and no success at running at 1440p 120fps.
This is not an issue for me since I'm using an Xbox Series S which only does 120 FPS at maximum of 1080p anyway, but for anyone using an Xbox Series X that can be an issue.
Still It might get fixed and for now it is the best external capture card you can buy hands down. I even purchased it and returned it then bought it again cause there was nothing out there that could come close to the quality and ease of use of this external capture card.

The Elgato HD60 remains my choice for those looking for dependable 1080p game capture with minimal hassle. Its combination of ease of use, portability, and reliable performance make it a great addition for mid-level streamers and gamers. However, those seeking 4K recording or standalone capture solutions may want to explore more advanced models or alternatives. The Elgato HD60 X is a the perfect robust choice for content creators looking to enhance their streaming or recording setup with advanced features like 4K pass-through, VRR, and HDR10 capture. Its combination of high-quality visuals, ease of use, and compatibility with modern gaming platforms makes it a worthwhile investment for those aiming for top-tier content creation.

For all intents and purposes, the HD60 X works well and is effective for the primary use case of capturing or streaming game footage via OBS. One of my edge case purposes though is to use the passthrough feature when the capture card is hooked up a USB switch that toggles between my mac and pc.
For PC, there's actually very little issues to consider and Elgato's 4k Capture Application is perfect for when you want to play games via passthrough without latency while being able to retroactively capture gameplay.
For Mac, they actually sunset their native Mac OS equivalent for Game Capture and no longer update it except for security features; which means that the last supported external card device is the HD60+. If you use the HD60 X, you're forced to use OBS or QuickTime, which has a bit of latency if you try to game through passthrough.
Keep that in mind and you'll enjoy this device fully. I recommend the HD60+ if you still want to use a Mac with the legacy Elgato application.

The reason why I got this captured card was because I have a next Gen console(PS5) And I have a 120 Hz monitor and this capture card allowed me to play at 120 frames while capturing and streaming at 60 With no screen tearing. It comes with a very high-quality HDMI cord and USB cord, which I didn’t think it came with, but it was a very nice addition. Must be plugged in to show up on your monitor But that is the only inconvenience. Works perfectly with OBS and I’m going to start using streamlabs soon, but I have no doubt that it will work on it too.

Games come out super clean connecting it to OBS studio & I love Elgato's software that it was easy to set up but I do recommend having extra cords on hand if you need length because the ones that come with the capture card are quite short!

Great device! I use it to stream from my PC (2060 so starting to get dated if I want good frames and high quality visuals) in order to not use resources for streaming on my PC. I plug it into my linux laptop and record/stream there and it works great! If you have any issues, there's always YouTube to help you

Best Capture Card I’ve Used

This capture card performs really well for its price and it works flawlessly. Really helps when streaming Xbox at 120 fps without delay. I highly recommend this product if you wish to stream console games via computer.
In my experience testing the capture card, here are the best settings that work for me.
Passthrough: 1440p, 120 fps
Capture: 1080p, 60 fps
Some notes:
1. I had an option to use 1440p, 60 fps capture, but the capture card lagged and dropped frames (this wasn’t an OBS issue as OBS didn’t report any frame drops).
2. Please keep in mind that not every computer will be able to stream using these settings, so I highly recommend testing with different settings if you get this product.
Here are the devices I used with this capture card:
MacBook Pro 2021
Xbox Series X

Works perfect easy to use and can now capture my switch games on twitch. I do wish it was cheaper. I wouldnt even haste if its 120. But 180 or more makes me nervous.

I was originally trying to stream with a Razer capture card, but was dealing with a lot of issues. This was really the only other option I could get in person, but I ended up getting a great product with the Elgato HD60X. Elgato makes great quality products and this is no different. Definitely worth the money for the quality.

There's a reason Elgato products tend to cost a tad more than their competitors: they're worth it.
The HD60X is a great device for next gen console gamers on PS5 and/or Xbox Series X to capture and stream from a PC.
That said, their 4K Capture Utility isn't great, so having a secondary option for streaming/recording like OBS is a much better alternative.

Elgato finally got around to redesigning HD 60 Line with this X model Which now offers 4k/60FPS with HDR Passthrough and 1080p/60FPS HDR Capture. If you have Xbox Series S or X it will work out of the box with no issues. However if you have a PS4/5 you'll need to turn off Enable HDCP Mode in the System settings before hand for the HD60x to work. Kinda annoying because you want to use apps like spotify for custom music on the PS5 it won't work. However on Xbox Series X doesn't suffer this problem. I you want to use apps your streaming apps you'll need to re enable HDCP mode on the PS5, But make sure you plug your PS5 back in the TV or Monitor before you do.
Design wise it's thin and slim you can plug all your cables in the back expect the audio jack which is in the front for PS4/5 headset audio capture which makes sense.
Overall Elgato HD60X is an answer to the AverMedia Cards out in the market right now,
I normally use the Elgato cards to stream with my friends on Discord for group chats. If you stream with OBS you will have no issues.
