I bought this mic for use while streaming and recording my podcast/videos. I was looking for a budget-friendly, low profile, desktop USB mic with decent sound quality and compatibility and a built in mute button. For the price, this mic produces excellebt sound and the mute button is brightly lit, very easy to use. I do recommend using some audio software to help with noise reduction and any enhancements you might wish to add to your voice but it is a really great option for anyone just starting out with recording.

I bought this microphone for Teams calls so that my voice would sound reasonably good, and this definitely met my expectations. The tap-to-mute feature is just perfect. No complaints - worth the price for sure.

I've been accustom to using headset based microphones for some time as I have primarily gamed on console. I have now switched to primarily gaming on PC and play mostly cooperative with some competitive games in the mix. I always hear the clarity difference between those in the chat who are using a dedicated mic compared to those using a headset based one, so I wanted to give a mic a try. The Elgato Wave Neo is a clean, simple mic with a mute button and 3.5mm headphone jack in the back. In the box you get the Microphone, stand, height extension, USB-C to USB-A cable, hardware and paperwork. I started by putting the Mic together with the extension, but then it sat a little too high sitting in front of my screen and removed that piece. It's very simple to put together. I downloaded the Elgato Wave Link software, updated the mic and downloaded a couple free effects available, I mostly use the Noise Removal to avoid picking up my fan and a couple other things I have running in the room that could be picked up. After setting it all up, I toyed with the audio input level a little bit to make sure it wasn't going in to a chat being super loud. Jumped in to a chat with one of the friends I usually game with, moved the mic around to where I preferred and fine tuned the input level based on the feed back. I left the mic just past my keyboard, in front of my screens but at the lowered height so I can set it an forget it. The mute can be activated with a tap and turns red to let you know the microphone is muted. I like the simple design to the Wave Neo, the Elgato logo on the screw to adjust the mic angle is a nice touch! It's also great not seeing my name flash constantly because of my fan being picked up, not sure if that's because of the foam pop filter (there isn't one on my headset mic). This has become my go to microphone for PC gaming!

The Elgato Wave Neo Cardioid Condenser USB Microphone is a solid choice for podcasters and those that work from home and video conference looking for a high-quality USB microphone. It delivers clear, detailed audio with excellent voice pickup and background noise rejection. The plug and play USB connection makes it easy to use on both Mac and Windows. It features a headphone jack for zero-latency monitoring and a tactile mute button with LED indicator that turns red when the microphone is muted. This microphone features a minimalist design in white color that blends in particularly well with the Mac and iPhone aesthetic. I used the mic for both Zoom calls and recording podcasts. The sound was clear and crisp. The feature that helps with this is that the mic on its stand rises above the keyboard so the clicks of the keyboard won’t be heard when typing on a video call. Both Zoom and Facetime apps on my Mac automatically recognized the mic when plugged in. A feature that I really liked was the ability mute the mic by just tapping on it. When you mute the mic the indicator light turns red. This is a very convenient feature to have on conference calls when you want to quickly mute and unmute. Overall, I really liked using this Elgato microphone. It looks good on my desk and it works great. The superior sound quality, even better than the built in mic on my Apple Studio Display, is why I will continue to use this mic. I highly recommend it.

Small, Lightweight, And Easy To Set Up

The Elgato Wave Neo is a small condenser microphone. It takes up very little room on my desk. It's base is small enough that I can place it in between my keyboard and laptop or off to the side of my keyboard/laptop. Space is at a premium on my desk which causes a problem with a typical microphone stand. The microphone itself is about 4" by 3" or so which makes it a small microphone compared to the size of my other condenser microphones. The stand is a 3 piece stand. There is the flat circular base, microphone mount piece, and an extension piece. The length of the microphone mount piece is about 3" and the extension piece is about the same length. I have it setup with the extension piece attached to the base and the microphone mount attached to the extension. I like this height as it brings the microphone up more where my voice is picked up better that it was with just the base and the mount piece only. There is a screw on the microphone mount which is used to adjust the tension. I can lock it down so the mic doesn't tilt forward or backward even if it is bumped. I can also adjust it to where I can move it at will, but it won't fall forward or backward on it own. That allows me to make quick adjustments to the tilt angle of the microphone when I need to. It comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable that is a braided cable. The USB-C end of the cable is designed to fit in the recessed part of the back of the microphone. This helps that end of the cable fit snug and helps to prevent accidental removal of the cable even when I move the microphone around. It also comes with a cable guide that fits into a slot that is cut into the extension piece. There is a touch sensitive button on the bottom front of the mic with is used to mute and unmute the mic. The button is also an LED light. The light is white if the mic is unmuted and red when muted. It makes it easy to see when the mic is muted. I like the light weight of the microphone. The flat base has enough weight to it that the mic isn't going to fall over unless I accidentally hit it. Tilting the mic forward or backward doesn't cause the mic stand to move due to the sufficient weight of the base. Assembling the base and stand is simple and fast. The provided USB cable is strong and since it is a braided cable it will resist kinks. The design of the USB-C end of the cable, while it helps it to fit snug and stay in place, I don't know if I will be able to buy another from Elgato if something happens to the included cable. A standard USB-C cable can fit into the USB-C port, but a standard cable will not fit as snug as it would be missing the part that fits into the recessed part of the back of the microphone. Audio Quality The audio from the Wave Neo is clear. The cardioid polar pattern helps to reduce ambient background noise. With that said, the microphone doesn't produce a natural voice sound. My voice in recordings has no base to it. This produces a voice that sounds like only treble is present which doesn't produce a natural sound to my voice. This can be corrected in post or in software used for live streaming or pod casting, but I shouldn't have to be raising base as much as I have to with this mic. It similar to old radio talk shows where there isn't base to the voices in the radio show. That is the way it is without a plug-in enabled to correct it or base brought up with an EQ. Of course, I can do those things, it's just that I shouldn't have to be doing that. As mentioned above though, it does produce a clear voice. Final Thoughts The Elgato Wave Neo is a low cost microphone that helps to get into pod casting, live streaming, or doing voice over for videos. I do hope that in a future version of the Wave Nep that Elgato will adjust it to have a little more base which would make voices sound more natural. It's a good design with the stand and the size of the mic. I also like the design of the mute/unmute touch sensitive button and that it is lite white/red to indicate mute/unmute.

The Elgato Wave Neo is a greater mixed-use microphone that adds a professional touch to videos and chats. Out the box the microphone was quick and easy to use. It has a simplified setup with just a braided USB-C. It was plug and play. I used it both with MacOS and Windows operating systems. The mic itself has a little base, and the extension pole has a cable management system, that was most useful if not moving the mic much. Another option for a stand or holder is to attach the microphone to a boom arm. The top portion of the mic does quickly disconnect with a keyhole holder and it can swivel on its stand in one plane of motion, but overall, the microphone is small enough to move as needed. The mic also has a built-in 3.5 mm headphone jack. I love the modern look, and the clean white matches my home office setup perfectly. The on light indicator LED is also the mute button, it turns on with just a touch and give you a clear indication when you are muted (red when the mic is muted and white when it’s not). I recommend downloading the app, because you can also adjust the gain, and they have additional mixer settings for purchase. Also, for aesthetics, I realized with the app you can control the brightness of the indicator. During calls and my basic recordings, there was clear improvement while using the Elgato Wave Neo over the built-in microphones on both my MacBook Pro and PC. It had less static but did pick up outside noise. The user guide suggested being within a few inches, but I had no trouble picking up my voice in my entire home office space.

    Great mic from web-conferencing

From a sound perspective, I needed an external microphone to make web conferencing fun again. For too long, I relied on my MacBook Pro's built-in mic only to hear from my audiences that my voice sounded flat. This Elgato Wave Neo microphone did exactly what I needed it to do: Make the sound of my voice appear natural with just enough bass and treble. Based on the feedback I received this mic nailed it. The attached picture shows the mic to the left of my 16-inch MacBook Pro. I love the lighted Mute button (white light when the mic is on (hot), and red light when the mic is muted), however, it doesn't sync with the mute function of Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet. One work-around for this is: In web conferencing tools, keep your mic open, and use the mic's mute button. Use the provided USB-C to USB-A cable to connect the mic via USB-C and connect it to your MacBook Pro (or computer) through USB-A. Unfortunately, there is no USB-C to USB-C cable (or a USB-A to USB-C adapter) provided. In summary, this mic provides a rich sound experience and works right out of the box. It does a great job for video conferencing. If you decide to download and install the optional Wave Link software from the Elgato.com "Downloads" website, you'll be able to add audio effects, which are also downloadable from the Elgato.com website, such as: - Noise suppression/noise removal - Equalizer - Audio compressor I give this mic 5 well-deserved stars. It looks great and it works great right out of the box. I recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a great-sounding Cardioid Condenser microphone.

I have two daughters with their own YouTube channels as well as one who writes/mixes/edits her own music so I got this for her to have as an option to her Blue Yeti. Overall she says the sound quality is pretty close to her Yeti although doesn't have as many sound options built into the microphone like her Yeti does but overall sound quality is very close for a fraction of the price. Overall the microphone looks very sleek and doesn't take up much space at all with a small footprint on her desk. Plugged into her laptop it was immediately recognized by Windows 11 and she was able to start using it within a minute or so of plugging it in. On the microphone itself the only button it has is a mute button which is helpful but not as many options as her Yeti. Out of the box it comes with everything you need to begin using it. Pros - Good quality for the price - Small footprint on desk - Comparable sound quality to more expensive microphones Cons - Less audio controls on the microphone - No way to make volume adjustments without going into windows Overall for the price the audio quality is very good but the lack of adjustments that can be made from the actual microphone is really the biggest complaint we had with this microphone. For the price you get a good microphone just know the limitations as far as audio adjustments on the actual microphone.

This Elgato cardioid condenser mic is fantastic, and audio-wise it is much better than many USB microphones I’ve used in the past. It captures and processes sounds quite well, whether loud whispering voices or loud explosive noises. Both volume and sound quality remain surprisingly consistent regardless of mic distance, which I find pretty impressive. The built-in headphone port is nice too, although my studio headphones are admittedly already high quality. Mileage may vary with other headphones. The mic doesn’t have numerous flashy bells and whistles aside from a handy mute button, which is exactly the way I prefer it. Nice and simple. I could easily add some EQ and a compressor to normalize the audio even more, but to be honest, I’m mostly happy with it as-is and how it favorably compares to previous USB mics right out the box. It does sometimes get a bit distorted if I scream or sing a little too loudly into it, but the sound doesn’t clip or anything. I will likely add the compressor if it continues. Audio is clear and distinct and doesn’t sound muffled at all. I can hear a bit of the audio bouncing off the wall at times but that’s to be expected in a recording environment like mine. It also picks up intentionally quiet sounds well, which is a plus when creating atmosphere.

works great! i bought this to help make my voice sound clearer for video calls and it does exactly that. it also does a great job at tuning out back ground noise. it will slightly pick up noise from a tv that's at normal level, but doesn't pick up the small normal back ground noises like ac unit and fan which i appreciate. its also very simple to use and looks nice and sleek too. great product for the cost. would recommend!

Everyone could use a good quality mic! Looking to podcast? You need a mic! Working from home? You need a mic! Gaming with friends? You need a mic. Sure, your headset has a mic, your camera has a mic...but are those really good? Mileage varies. For those looking for a better mic, the Elgato - Wave Neo Wired Condenser mic is a pretty solid USB mic with a low barrier to entry. The design is solid. I would have preferred a darker color just because my desk setup and the majority of my accessories are black, but the design does look smooth and modern. Setup was super easy...ish. While connecting the mic was easy, I don't like that the extender comes off so easy. I'm pretty sure I connected the mic correctly, however, with the mic extender connected, when grabbing the mic from the top, sometimes the bottom half comes off. If the mic extender is not connected properly, then I'd say the instructions aren't clear enough. Other than that, setup was super easy and the mic is plug and play. Audio quality sounds pretty solid. I did some tests with the sound recorder app and the mic did a solid job of picking up my voice, even when not hovering directly over the mic. In gaming, my friends said I sounded a lot clearer then normal, which was definitely the goal. The push to mute is simple...it's super sensitive, be aware...but the bright red LED is a dead giveaway that you pushed the button, so there's that. Overall, for those looking to improve sound quality without breaking the bank, I'd strongly recommend the Elgato - Wave Neo Wired Condenser Mic as a great starter mic.

Over the years, I have used many different microphones for recording and creating videos to upload. Most have been decent but always fell short. The Elgato Wave Neo microphone is very high quality. First, the build. Excellent build quality. You know right away this is a well built microphone. The stand is nice and heavy and assembles easy. Once together, it looks great. It looks great on my desk and will fit almost any decor in terms of a computer setup. There are several options in terms of height. You can adjust the height to your liking. The cable is high quality and a perfect length or almost any computer setup via USB. The software is easy to install and you'll be up and running in under a minute. I was able to record many different voice clips and each sounded great. I found the sound to be clear and concise. There was a good mix of bass, mids, and treble. The sound was balanced and easy to understand. I was able to record some videos for uploading and all the videos were clear and easy to understand. Any adjustments needed were easy to make via the software. I look forward to using this microphone more and more. I highly recommend it.

very clear quality, great for livestreams and voiceovers. i use it between a desktop computer and a laptop, it's easy to transfer, just plug and go. Was kind of confused when putting it together out the box, but after looking at the instructions I was able to figure it out. the best thing about it besides the quality is the press to mute button. having that easy to access and it turning a different color is great for a stream.

Very good Mic quality... wish the stand was a little shorter for my setup, but the quality of the stand is great. My only other minor gripe is, at some angles, it is hard to see if the mic is muted or not... otherwise, very nice product for the price. I use MacOS and it works pretty seamless.

So far this microphone has been great for conference/video calls for work. The size is very compact and I like that it has the removable extension. I'm using this with a Mac through a USB-C hub and for some reason my prior mic (Blue Nano) would keep needing to get unplugged and re-plugged back in during calls and I have not had this issue yet with this one. Highly recommend for minimalistic chat, video calls, and gaming but I am not a power user so can't speak to how it is with podcasting/streaming.

Overall a great mic, but I do think that you need to commit to having a boom arm unless you’re fine with the mic being pressed pretty close to your mouth during video (might not be bad for a podcast style, but not the best for professional work in which you need to have your camera on.) that being said, the mic is beautiful, and the stand is sturdy with a base that remains be of a durable stone coaster.
