I prefer this one over District 9, and I’m glad I upgraded from the Blomkamp Blu-ray trilogy. This is a excellent transfer and the 4K looks fantastic. Great visuals.

I think the cover art is lazy, but Matt Damon sells things. Solid transfer.

A straightforward shoot 'em up tale driven by deliberately overt yet nonetheless important sociopolitical concerns, Neil Blomkamp's Elysium is an action-packed, visually thrilling ride. Almost ten years later, the sci-fi actioner remains a fun popcorn piece of entertainment thanks to a strong ensemble cast, amazing visuals and a plot that feels all the more relevant today. Blomkamp's socially-conscious saga crash lands on Ultra HD with an outstanding 4K HDR10 video presentation and a highly-satisfying Dolby Atmos soundtrack, delivering a notable upgrade over its Blu-ray counterpart. With a new set of bonuses for this UHD edition, the overall package is highly recommended.

    Another Winner From Sony

I really liked this movie when it hit theatres back in 2013, and bought the blu-ray as soon as it was available. This 4k version is a great step up from the blu-ray..especially in picture quality. The use of HDR really opens up the darker scenes, and the color palette is very clean and lifelike. The blu-ray sports a great 7.1 audio mix, and this 4k transfer has been issued with a new Dolby Atmos mix. The difference between audio mixes isn't as striking as the video differences..but the Atmos mix is a nice upgrade. In all,, if you like the movie, and wonder if you should upgrade..the answer is "definitely". Fans of the movie will be very pleased with what Sony has done here.

This film is a great showcase of the UHD format. The visuals and sound were both amazing. There's a real sense of directionality in the soundstage and the fact that they used miniatures for some of the shots of Elysium instead of CGI really contributes to it looking more life-like. The scene with the three ships trying to get to Elysium at the beginning in particular was amazing. The picture is very sharp and there's such a big contrast between the beauty of Elysium and the squalor on Earth. This is a must-own for UHD enthusiasts.

I really liked this movie to begin with. I think it is solid all the way through. What I love about the 4K UltraHD version is every part of the picture and the audio explodes as if I were in the theatre. If you like action movies that also have a great story woven thru the action from beginning to end, this is for you. If you have even a basic system capable of displaying 4kUltraHD and even a basic sound system, it is icing on the cake.

Set in LA in 2154 this is actually a science fiction movie that is plausible. The living conditions on earth have become nearly impossible to live in, so the rich and connected politically have built their own city orbiting the earth. Those “illegals” that attempt to get to Elysium are quickly disposed of. Law enforcement is handled by robots and Matt’s character is a worker in the robot factory. He is is injured and has 5 days to get to Elysium to save his life. In the process he frees the world. Special effects are excellent. The 4kUHD is good and you can choose either Dolby ATMOS or DTS for surround sound.

This movie ages very well both in terms of the special effects and overall plot + 2020 in terms of elitism vs have nots etc. the ending has always been to quaint and dreamy but I was more forgiving this time. Overall the 4K picture and sound are amazing. If you saw it once or twice years ago do yourself a favor and get this one for your 4K collection.

This is a good action film with a good story. I liked pretty much. Would have given it 5 stars but for the bad language. Why is it the producers think films have to contain bad language, sometimes it really grates on you. The first DVD I bought didn't work, either disc, but Best Buy took it back even after their 7 return policy. I think that is rather short, especially since I bought a half dozen discs but didn't watch them all right away. Haven't watched the new disc yet, hope it works.

I had this on normal Blu-Ray and wasn't sure if I wanted the 4K version at first, but eventually decided to upgrade. Despite it's mixed reviews and opinions, I really enjoy this movie, and the 4K looks fantastic. Definitely pick this one up if you like sci-fi action and are looking for a good 4K picture.

Not something I would watch over and over but I will watch again. If you like Sci-Fi, you'll like this. If you're not into Sci-Fi, you'll like it too but probably not as much as someone who is into Sci-Fi flicks. I've heard a lot of talk about this from people suggesting there's a political message here. I think you'll find a political message in any movie if you're looking for it. I didn't see anything suggesting that this had a primarily political agenda.

SUPERB. truly a sci fi gem , the allegory for the wealthy and the poor is done in such a unique way that it doesn't feel forced. The film looks beautiful and Neil makes it look expensive with the effects and worldbuilding, matt damon kicks butt and the action is superb.

This Blu-ray does not disappoint. Is it worth the upgrade for the Atmos track? Not really.. there are not many movie scenes that benefit from this technology but the image quality has certainly improved and it’s worth the upgrade to 4K.

A good grade B sci-fi endeavor with a committed cast, eye-popping SFX and interesting sets that puts it clearly in the escapism category. Sharlto Copely gives a performance that compliments his outing in the same director's District 9. The UHD image is outstanding and the soundscape is enveloping when called for.
