This is our second, for that I have to give it a star. But beware, you can't charge this thing when it's on your charging coaster with a beverage in it. I'm sure the company will have something foolish to say about that. But let's go with this, you can't charge your cell phone when it's on. Sound like a phone you'd buy?

I am hoping the 2nd time is a charm. The first Ember 2 mug I got stopped working in 2 days with the app showing the mug as empty and not heating even though it was 3/4 full. I am very hopeful that my new one will work because this is a great concept. Customer service at Ember was very difficult to get any answers from and blew me off for days.

I purchased for my daughter for her to use at her desk. It's handy and attractive enough.

This was a gift for my mom on Mother's day. It worked great, until the contacts on the charging base corroded. I ended up having to replace the whole thing. Not cool. You should be able to get a new base/ charging unit.

The product, itself, is cool. App-connected and customizable. I tend to drink my coffee faster than makes this mug practical.

When I first heard of a smart coffee mug, I thought it was a joke. But the more I read about it, the more interested I became. I've been using the YETI coffee mug, and it's been great. But it has a couple issues. It takes a while to get to the ideal temperature. It's too hot for too long. Once it cooled to the temperature I liked, I would put the lid on it and try to prolong that temp as long as possible. But thermodynamics don't allow a constant temp without an energy source! Enter Ember. I'm a coffee snob. I press my own coffee using a kettle with carefully designed brew temperatures, ground beans, the works. Little did I know that this mug was my missing ingredient! This mug will keep my coffee at my ideal temperature (135 by the way) for about an hour, or longer if I use the charging coaster. It's the perfect temperature from the first sip to the last. It's a novelty I never knew I needed. I didn't jump on Ember right away, because I was concerned about some of their mugs chipping. At $140, that's not something I want to deal with. I'm hoping that wont be an issue, but I've heard their customer service is responsive. We went with the 14oz size, because the other sizes seem too small. I got one for my wife and I and that has only created one issue. It's a little difficult to tell which cup belongs to whom! You can change the color of the LED light at the bottom and that has mostly worked. Only things that I believe can and will be improved in future versions, is more color options for the 14oz and a hopefully improved battery life. I have a lot of smart home devices. (A lot!) This has the potential to be the most useful. Time will tell.

Don't know you need this until you get one!! Curling up with a cup of tea and a good book no longer means drinking it puke-warm or running up and down the steps to reheat. I can get caught up in a chapter without worrying about my tea being cold. Get it on sale, get the biggest one, enjoy your hot beverage. Tip: buy an extra coaster if you can. I have one upstairs on my nightstand and one on my desk.

I have the 10oz and the travel mug, had to get this one, I love the Ember mugs. People misunderstand what they are, its not meant to keep your drink hot for hours on a charge, its for a consistent temp for one drink for a normal time to drink it. And it performs perfectly. My travel mug was a kickstarter version and it had a technical problem but the Ember company quickly replaced it when reported and paid for shipping both ways.

This is the best purchase I have made in a long time. Only negative thing I have to say is now I can't ever drink coffee from anything other than my Ember mug and enjoy it.

Purchased this over the 10oz version. The $50 price difference between 10oz vs 14oz is simply money grab! Used it for 3 days, and it was great having coffee and tea at a constant/desired temperature. I grabbed it from its charger on my desk today and went to an hour-long meeting. At around the 45 minute mark, I received a notification that it's time to recharge the mug. On top of that when I charged it fully (stayed on its charger at least 2-3 hours and the light turned green), the app showed 6% charge level and never went up from there. Thinking that the app reading was incorrect, I started using it, but after 10 minutes it asked me to charge it again and the unit stopped heating. Turning it on and off, uninstalling and re-installing the app, deleting and re-pairing it from the iPhone bluetooth list did not solve the issue. Too much trouble, especially for $130+tax

For the price, I would expect it to keep coffee warm more than an hour.
