Good while it lasts
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased multiples of these because I was going to digitize my world. I hate having paper around. I remember reading that this was supposed to have a life of about 200,000 scans. Well, I haven’t even hit 5,000 scans yet and it no longer senses that paper is loaded to be scanned. I’ve done all of the trouble shooting. Nothing works. It’s out of the 1 year warranty. It’s money down the drain. So, if you want to throw away $400 for it to last about a year and a half…this is your product! If you want something that lasts longer, look elsewhere.

Quality scanner!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice, really fast desktop document scanner. I have used many scanners but this one is a piece of art loaded with technology. I have been using this wireless scanner for about a week and really impressed so far. It is easy to set up, quiet, fast, and very easy to use. It is a powerful way to de-clutter and organizes your life from loads of papers. The instructions were user-friendly and easy to follow. The large 4.3-inch touch screen and wireless connectivity allow to easily scan to a smartphone, tablet, computer, or a cloud. It has 100 sheets ADF which quickly scan stacks of paper. The wireless feature is a bonus in getting our old and new paperwork scanned into files and eliminating boxes of old paperwork and enabling us to share family records. The documents scanned really fast (up to 35 ppm/70 ipm) and the best part was it is a duplex scanner which means you insert the page once and both sides are scanned. I scanned all the bills (crushed, crumpled receipts from grocery stores, gas stations, etc. that are really thin) at a lightning-fast speed without a paper jam!! And believe me, this is the first time I was able to scan without a paper jam. I also scanned my driver’s license and credit cards which were really easy because of this device. The software is easy to use and understand. The application has all the rich features which I love and has a different number of dropdowns that are simple to understand and work with. I used the custom mode to have it work according to my wish. It worked pretty well, and the output was awesome. Using Epson ScanSmart software I was easily able to preview, email, or upload my scans to my choice of device. The included TWAIN driver ensures compatibility with most document management software. Wirelessly scan to cloud storage accounts, create searchable PDFs, and get remarkable image quality with Epson Image Processing Technology. It creates searchable PDFs with optical character recognition (OCR); convert scanned documents to editable word and excel files If you're in the market for a stand-alone desktop scanner or scan many documents day to day, take a serious look at the ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Desktop Document as it is fast, accurate, and easy to set up while taking up little space. Highly recommended! This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Easy to Set Up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was amazed at how easy this Epson WorkForce ES-580W Document Scanner was to set up. The software had step by step instructions for downloading to my laptop and there were no glitches. After the scanner was turned on I set the language and time' the download was complete and ready to scan in less than 10 minutes. This is the easiest way to save documents whether you are looking to scan recipes, receipts, invoices or any other documents to your computer, email or online cloud storage. It even has the capability to scan without a computer to a USB memory drive. The best part is it's wireless but also comes with a USB cable if you want to hook it up directly to your computer. The touch-screen is easy to navigate and the unit has a 100 sheet auto document feed. I did a trial scan of some recipes and saved them to my laptop in a RECIPE file. Next I scanned a variety of about 20 invoices using the auto feed and every sheet ran through perfectly. This scanner is perfect for home or business and I plan to use it in my home office to keep everything neatly organized in computer files. I am very impressed with how simple the instructions were and easy to download the software to be ready to start scanning and get organized. No more piles of receipts and invoices, everything is neatly filed on my computer. Whether you are scanning 3x5 recipe cards, invoices or 8x10 documents, the paper width can easily be adjusted to the width needed. There is also a scanner maintenance tab where it shows step by step photos for cleaning the roller. I can't say enough on how easy this document scanner is to use from set-up, using, storing and cleaning when needed. I am totally impressed with the quality, the construction, how easy it is to operate and the overall look and size of this Epson ES-580W. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Working from home just got easier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.============================= >>>>> Bottom Line Up front: <<<<< ============================= The Epson WorkForce ES-580W document scanner does everything right. It’s compact, easy to use, handles multiple paper/document sizes with ease, has TWAIN driver support and best of all – IT IS WIRELESS! Scanned documents can be single OR duplex – Black and White or Full Color – regardless of the input provided – the ES-580W’s image quality was spot on. From the office and productivity style workloads that I used it for, its pretty hard to beat. What I liked: =========== - Small foot print, and super easy to get setup and going on a basic level - Colorful responsive 4.3” touchscreen - High quality, fast document scans, regardless of document size/shape - It’s WIRELESS!!! - USB port for direct access What I didn’t like so much: ====================== - while sturdy – still feels a little to light and plasticky to me - lack of detail on mobile app name/installation/usage - you MSUT install Epson Smart Scan Software to unlock full device potential =============================================== >>>>> Personal Observations after a regular usage: <<<<< =============================================== If you’re in the market for a document scanner – chances are you have a lot documents you need to scan A LOT of documents - quickly, accurately – and OFTEN. I can definitely say that this was the case for me. I have traditionally relied on larger/commercial grade document scanners in my office environment of ‘yor – however as we all know – the ‘RONA” has fundamentally changed the way a lot of us “work” these days. I haven’t been able to use those fancy commercial document scanners stored away at the big office for months now – so I have been relying on my Multi-Function Laser “All in One” – to do all the heavy lifting at home since then. Enter the Epson WorkForce ES-580W document scanner. Initially, I didn’t know what to expect given, the compact size of this unit - particularly compared to what I was accustomed to using traditionally at work. For starters, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Auto Document Feeder handled the 50-100 sheets of documents that would feed throughout my day. I have a lot of presentation style slides, and contract type documents I am constantly scanning and sharing/collaborating with members of my team – and while my traditional Multifunction all in one would handle it…it was a cumbersome process, that wasn’t exactly the most time efficient. – the ES-580W on the other hand…. made it significantly faster and easier thanks to its 4.3” touch screen and wireless access from ALL of my devices across my home office (and then some … more on that a little later). Thanks to the TWAIN drivers, uploading the scans directly into Photoshop for the times you may need to made some creative adjustments to any images you’re working with. That being said, my use with the ES-580W was mainly for 50-100 mixed photo document scans for sharing with other as previously pointed out. For those purposes – I couldn’t ask for more than what this Epson has to offer. Images were crisp, clear and in no way any different than if I had used my Multifunction’s built-in scanner – only the ES-580W did everything I normally do in a fraction of the time. I was a little skeptical with the duplex scanning functionality – seeing as how you can some times run into issues with them “misaligning” the images as it passes through the auto document feeder – but I am happy to say that wasn’t the case in any of the documents I was working with. BONUS – I also found that the ES-580W worked really well to scan receipts and invoices as well…. I consider myself a huge organization guy – borderline OCD – and I traditionally file all my invoices any receipts in my trusty 6 drawer filing cabinet that is dedicated for just that. I have been telling my self I need to digitize my records and invoices, and man was I happy when I saw that the ES—580W handled all the odd shapes of traditional receipts and mixed sized documents with ease. Interestingly, EPSON makes similar devices that are marketed for just hat purpose, but the ES-580W seems to excel for work AND play – so to me it is the better value. I didn’t heavily use the USB functionality to make direct scans from there – but if you’re the type that is constantly moving large workloads/documents on mobile thumb drives/external storage – I imagine that will be huge for you. The 4.3” inch touch screen made using the menu’s easy – and for the most part, set up was painless and quick. Epson did a good job making the ES-580W being one of those things you don’t really need to read the instruction to get it set up – you can just plug it in and get going, or it will tell you what you need to work right on the display. Speaking of software - If there was some room for improvement – it would be nice if the the packaging or setup guide had a little more detail regarding software installation instructions. While it included very rudimentary instructions, and made a mention of installing the desktop “Smart Scan Software” – it made NO mention of the name of the Epson mobile App required for use on mobile devices – for reference it is called: “Epson Smart Panel” – on Android - which is not the same as the desktop software. It would be nice if Epson made mention of the name in the instruction or at least kept the software name the same – because if you search “Espon” in the App store you get at least 3 or 4+ hits of legitimate Epson software products. While the Desktop “Smart Scan” software was super and easy to use, it is key to installing to get the most functionality out of the ES-580W. The mobile “Espon Smart Panel” has a very clean, well-organized layout – however not all of the functionality is available in the mobile app interface when I compared it to the desktop software. Regardless, it made running scans and work loads from my other PC's, tablets, and mobile devices a breeze...it was fun to see what I could do. Mainly, though, for me having the ability to have team member collaborate and run scan when working with me in my home office that much better - so if that is something your finding yourself doing - a wireless device is a must. ========================== >>>>> Closing thoughts: <<<<< ========================== The Epson ES-580W is hard to beat from a home office perspective. It scanned all the power points, slides, worksheets, spreadsheets … receipts .. invoices… etc, etc – without skipping a beat. The Auto document feeder never jammed, and the resulting scan quality was great. The time the ES-580W has saved me from my traditional routine more than justifies what Epson is asking for this device, at least from my point of view. Yes, it is a little on the “plasticky” side – but what isn’t these days – the light wight and small foot print more than makes up for it. I can’t recommend this device enough if you’re looking to add a solid document scanner to take your “work from home” routine to the next level.

It does NOT handle 100 pages...more like 35!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read tons of reviews before deciding to buy this Epson scanner. Got it home and after one day, I had to go back to Best Buy and purchased a different one instead. I bought this scanner in particular because it said it could scan up to 100 pages. I would have been satisfied if it could do 80, or even 70, but it didn't even come close. At best, it could handle about 30-35 pages without having a paper jam. Anything more, and I'd get a paper jam and would have to remove some pages. I used standard 20# paper, and I fanned it as per the instructions. I even called Epson and described the problem to them. They said it sounded like it was a defective part. It also would grab the paper and ruin the originals, both with roller marks and indentations on the top and on the sides. I bought the Epson Receipt Scanner instead, but ran into EXACTLY the same problems!!! Epson said that it uses the same mechanism. The rep assured me that I wasn't doing anything incorrectly, and again said it sounded like a product defect. So that was 2 scanners I had to buy and return. I eventually kept the Epson FastFoto scanner. However, I ended up spending $150 more. The FastFoto doesn't handle 100 pages either (as advertised), but at least it handles more than 35!

A compact fast and accurate professional scanner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the fastest, smoothest working scanners that exist today, the Epson Workforce ES-580W scanner. It came well packaged, yet was easy to get out and setup. The accompanying guides made for a quick read since they are easy to understand and well-illustrated. The setup is easily done via the wireless-duplex-touchscreen. Instructions advise you to download the appropriate software for computer or phone and list the sites they are available at. Scanning can then be started from the unit itself, a computer or a smart mobile device. It will connect either via wireless or the included USB cable. I saw no difference at all between the two. You can directly load the output to a variety of places including the computer, cloud, email etc. It offers various output formats and will scan individual or large amount of items from its loading tray. I have set many pages on the tray and watched it scan with nary a concern, unbelievably fast. I wanted to see what would happen if it jammed and cross folded a document. It stopped and on the screen showed me how to resolve it in mere seconds. The output files are really good, sharp and colorful. I had been using a major manufacturer’s multi-function unit for scanning and as good as that is, this is massively better. This is a compact unit – about 12 inches wide with extendable input and output trays. The power switch is on the face and the unit is quickly ready to work. Scans Like Champ!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an office must have!!! My wife is a CPA and telecommutes one day a week. She scans all kinds of financial documents all the time! At home we had a flat scanner and that is just not practical when you have 10, 15, 20 double sided bank statements ect. I also can work from home from time to time and bridging the paper world into the all digital world can be a real pain but the Epson Workforce ES-580 wireless scanner really makes some strides in making that easier. Set-up was easy as far as putting the unit together. The Epson comes with a usb cable if you wanted to connect it that way but the wireless part is really awesome feature. It makes it easy to set up where ever you need it with out having to carry a cable around. It doesn't have to be in close proximity to the computer. Keep in mind you still have to have a plug in near you though. I also really like the small footprint of the unit on my desk! Fits right in to my crowded office environment and looks sharp as well. I had a little trouble setting up the regular drivers from Epson’s website. The scanner was not connecting. I think it was because I have a dual band router and the desktop was on one band and the scanner on another. Make sure your computer and the Scanner are on the same band! I became impatient and just decided to do a direct wifi set up with my computer. Super easy. Got it all ready and scanned 10 double-sided documents with color logos on the stationary. IT BREEZED though them. Super-fast! The scan speed alone really impressed me but then the Epson software popped up on my computer and I was really excited. Getting documents scanned in is one thing but what is the format? Where does it save the documents to? Then I have to go find them and attach as an email or copy and paste into word to put into a work binder excreta… Well the Epson software box popped open after the scan and I had at a single click very useful and commonly used document management at my hands (see pic). I could save it to my HDD sure, but it had a box I could click to do an attachment, or to send to drop box, or Evernote, or Google drive, MS Word or Excel!! You can also customize where you send it! It also has a limited trial for receipt management. Super useful tools that really enhance productivity! Those are all the places I would send the docs anyway! I sent the documents to MS Word to see the quality. The scan was crisp and clean and the color logos were true to color. The documents scanned and looked presentation ready. Fast, awesome quality scan with super intuitive software makes this a winner for sure! If you have to still work in a paper world and transfer into the digital world this Epson Workforce will make life soooooo much easier!

Easy To Set Up & Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touch Screen a scanner was pretty easy to get up and running. It only had 3 pieces and was quick to assemble. You plug it in and are guided through the process. In fact the most complicated step would be connecting to your wifi which most people have done with multiple devices... Some of my favorite features included the ability to rapidly scan two sided documents or even something as small as a business card. The document feeder can hold as much as one hundred pages. It was also quick to send scans to your favorites thanks to shortcut keys. The Epson Scan Smart software .is easy for the novice user to figure out and quickly start using. The touchscreen was also easy to read and scroll through due to its 4.3” size. It also offers quick access to frequently used cloud storage accounts. The practicality of this device for home office use can’t be beat. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

A scanner worth having!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say Epson really has made a remarkable product. The ES-580W has actually surprised me. Usually scanners have been a pain connecting to older OS. It was very simple to put together and connect to the computer, my phone and the wireless network. The menu is quite self explanatory when setting up. The touch screen is a welcomed addition and doesn't require repetitive pressing to select a command. The size of the scanner makes for compact usage for those with limited space. If you drive, it is very travel friendly. Scanning up to 100 pages at a time is very helpful when I was scanning old documents. The great thing is you don't have to be a computer wiz to use the ES-580W. The functionality of this space saving work horse is worth having in your business arsenal. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-580W Wireless Duplex Touchscreen Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Makes scanning a breeze!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love so many things about this multi use scanner! It makes it extremely convenient that I can scan things using my to my iPhone, tablet, or computer. It also makes it very useful that it is wireless and a touchscreen so it’s easy to navigate through the options to perform the tasks that I need to get done. It scans up to 100 pages at one time quickly and effortlessly, so I’m able to leave it while multitasking instead of having to hand feed a page at a time. It’s also easy to share documents using the scanner, and I can save them to an USB drive, upload to my iCloud or my email. It also has added bonuses and features such as auto crop, blank page deletion, background removal, dirt detection and paper-skew correction with Epson Image Processing Technology. One of my favorite things about the scanner, is that it has Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection which helps prevent missing pages, and staples that get left in papers which sometimes accidentally happens. It was super easy to set up the scanner, and I also love the size, shape, and look at the scanner. It has a streamline and professional look and it’s also the perfect size so that way it doesn’t crowd up too much desk space. I’m very happy with the functionality and performance of this scanner! Easy setup!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wear multiple hats in my home office to include homemaker, teacher, business owner, and student. In looking for a scanner I wanted something that would scan quickly, effectively, and quietly. I chose this Epson for the speed, double-sided, and wireless capabilities. To start, setup is a breeze, even for someone who isn't particularly technically savvy. Once you download the software on your computer, setting up the wireless connectivity is done step by step for you. Setup took me about 5 minutes from start to finish. I have been fairly happy with the scanning capabilities. The quality far surpasses my standard printer/scanner/fax combo that I was previously using. Furthermore, it scans documents considerably faster. One thing I was looking forward to, was being able to scan and open documents as editable word documents. While the quality of the PDF is great, the consistency of quality in the word documents is subpar. I've attached two pictures of the same document, one scanned as a PDF and one scanned as an editable word document. As you can see, there are some variations in the word document. Still, the capabilities offered by the scanner are far superior to what I was using previously. If the word document function was improved, I would have nothing but positive experiences.

Excellent Scanning Device with versatile features.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson Workforce ES-580W Wireless Color Document Scanner is an excellent document scanning device that is well suited for home or office use. This Sheet-fed 1-pass duplex color document scanner comes with an AC adapter and power cable, SuperSpeed USB Cable, a 100-sheet feeder, and 2 Start Here Posters and Notices documents – both in multiple languages. The document scanner has 2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 inputs on the back - a USB A-Type for connecting this to a device via a cable and a USB B-Type for connecting a USB drive for storing scanned documents. The key features of this scanner are: • 4.3” Touchscreen • Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Connectivity • 600 dpi Optical Resolution / 1200 DPI interpolated resolution • 3-color RGB LED light source • 30-Bit Color and 24-bit Grayscale output • Up to a 35 ppm/70 ipm (images per minute) scan speed. • TWAIN Driver Support. Additional specifications include: • Can scan up to an 8.5 x 53” document at 600 dpi. Lower resolutions can handle larger 8.5” lengths. • Daily Duty Cycle of 4,000 sheets. • OS Support includes Windows 10, 8, and 7, as well as Mac OS X 10.11.X to 10.15.X • Included software is Epson ScanSmart software and Presto! BizCard® OCR (internet connection required to download) Usage impressions: This Device is an extremely easy to set up and provides excellent value and functionality. The setup is quick and only has 3 steps on the Start Here Poster. Much like any printing device, one of these steps is to remove all the shipping tape from the device and the other is to download the software. The primary connection method for the device is via a wireless connection. The system can connect to Windows and Mac devices as well as Android and IOS devices. For the mobile OS devices, you must download the Epson Smart Panel App from either Google Play or the App Store The device you are connecting to must be on the same wireless network as the scanner and it will be found by the software package. Within minutes I was connected via a windows laptop and ready to scan. Once connected you can initiate scans from a computer or smart device just place the originals and set the scan settings in the app and hit scan. The first test I ran was 2 notebooks that my wife wanted to scan so that she could share this information with relatives. The first notebook was 115 pages and they all fit without issue in the sheet feeder of the device. A few clicks and about 3 minutes later I had the entire notebook in a PDF document ready to share. The second one was actually a few more pages and I split that pack into two and again it had no issues with the scanning. In under 10 minutes, I had 3 PDF documents totaling about 500 pages ready to go. Quite impressive and the single-pass duplex scanning of this device really speeds up to process of scanning and it reduces the chances of the device jamming as the paper does not have to be reoriented. The sheet feeder is rated at 100 pages and can handle mixed sizes of paper for quick scanning. When using originals of mixed sizes, the manual states to order the scans with the widest sizes toward the back of the sheet feeder – which means they will be scanned first. Other options besides scanning to a smart device or a computer include scanning to a network folder, scanning to email, scanning to the cloud, and scanning to an external USB device. For scanning to a network folder, you must first set up the network folder which can be reached by SMB. FTP, FTPS, WebDAV via HTTP or HTTPS, or WSD in Windows 7 and higher. The device can scan for shared drives across the network via the SMB protocol. For email, you must configure additional settings to an email server. For Cloud, you must link the device to your Epson Connect account. USB device scanning simply requires you to plug the drive into the back of the device via the USB A-Type connector. In addition to scanning documents for storage in electronic format, this device would be great for those that get checks and need to scan them in for deposit. Another use case for this device is the scanning of photographs, however, this is one area where this device can have trouble and the manual explicitly states that they can be damaged by the machine. To do this they recommend using an optional carrier sheet – basically a sleeve to protect the original. Unfortunately, these sleeves are quite expensive. The manual further recommends using a flatbed scanner for photos to get the best color reproduction. They also make other products for the scanning of photos. The device has an MSRP of $399.99, which is a good price for this scanner. It would be a great price at $349.99, and a steal at $299.99. Overall, this scanner has great versatility and capabilities. This document can allow one to archive in electronic form many documents that one may have in paper form and thus saving you physical storage spaced in your file drawers. Pros: versatility, Speed, connectivity. Cons: Lack of direct photo scanning, possible need to use expensive carrier pages.

Quite simple to set up and begin scanning. It is as simple as, unpackage, connect the top feed cartridge, connect the power, a couple of easy acknowledgements on the ES-580W 4.3” touchscreen, download the Epson ScanSmart software to our ZenBook, and scan. It is really that simple. I set the ES-580W up to communicate, wireless, with my ASUS ZenBook 14. The package does come with a hard wire to connect your Espon ES-580W to your computer, tablet, or notebook however I chose to connect wirelessly and it was simple and works great. The scanning speed and end-result is impressive. I was accustomed to using a flatbed scanner and as you may know these do take a little time and effort to complete any scanning project. I loaded the ES-580W with 10 sheets of documents w/graphics and two pages that were just graphics with a lot of detail, b/w and color. The ES-580W interacted with our ZenBook quickly and the speed and accuracy of the scanning was incredible. I repeated this process multiple times and the ES-580W performed flawlessly. 10 pages, 1 sided, in 18 seconds. The scanned documents/graphics are excellent, you could not see the difference from the scanned items to the originals. I scanned a lot of documents, documents with b/w graphics and colored graphics, and graphics with a lot of intricate art in both b/w and color and the results were great every time. Lots of options for saving your scanned items. Example: Touch the “Computer” button, computer you chose to send the scans to, 1 sided or 2 sided, and press scan. From the Epson software you can save the scanned items to your computer. The same procedure is applied if sending to a Network Folder/FTP, Email, Cloud, Memory Device, or WSD (if set up). A couple of touch controls on the 4.3” touchscreen and your good to go. The ES-580W is compact yet powerful.
I would recommend this to a friend
