I really like my Fitbit Charge HR. Tracking steps and heart rate seem to be spot on, and I like seeing my sleep patterns as well. A couple minor things I wish were better: - High winds really mess up the stair flight counter. Walking across Chicago, my Fitbit has tracked 50 flights of stairs in 5 minutes. - The battery life isn't great. They say you get up to 5 days, but in reality it's probably closer to 3-4 days, depending on use. - Wearing while sleeping, the LED light can be annoying if not positioned perfectly on the wrist. None of these are deal breakers for me, but they were enough to rate the product 4 stars instead of 5.

Review on the Charge HR: Well Ive used this for 10 days now, the HR function is nice. I did have a few times that i checked my HR and there was no number or not moving. and then I wonder if its cal burn will also be off. i know couple of times where I checked my HR and it said i was over 124 but then when you looked at the app HR chart the highest it would show was 100. Step count seams to be the same as my flex was. I think it has a better accuracy. I like the watch style band. I'm wearing mine up higher on my arm. I did notice last night that my arm is sore and is red not sure if it's a rash or not sore to the touch though. End of day calorie burns seams to be inline with my flex over all I believe. Unless you need the phone options and a GPS then get the surge. best value is the charge HR in my opinion. For an extra 20.00 over the charge. It's a great value. It’s nice to be able to see during your work out the number of minutes your heart rate is in the fat burn zone or cardio or peak HR. I would buy it again.

Battery life is good. Fitbit chat rep said it was water resistant enough for a quick rinse as long as it's not submerged...Fitbit later responded to an earlier email with the same question saying it won't. Support seems to be sketchy. I do crossfit. Some days it counts flights of stairs even though I never take stairs. Step count seems to be a bit off. Can't push a shopping cart and count steps despite what the website says. Heart rate is pretty accurate when placement is prime. Sleep monitoring is not always as accurate. App is easy to use. Overall it helps me rate my activity for the day....if I burned enough calories or took enough steps. I feel like it has made me more accountable for my level of fitness

I got two of these, one for myself and one for my girlfriend, primarily to help her stay motivated in getting fit (which she tells me she wants to do). When I showed her what it can do and how it works, she got very excited about it and enjoys using it and all of its features, though I'm still trying to show her that she can track her calorie intake (I just think she's afraid of those kinds of numbers). I wear mine most of the day, as it is more accurate when using my heart rate. I even wear it while I sleep, and though I wake up on my own at a usual time, I do like the alarm feature that wakes you without making noise. It's also useful outside of sleep. If you make use of all its features, pairing it with a phone, this flashy piece of tech is definitely worth purchasing!

I love the digital readout on the Force compared to the Flex. Well worth the money! And all you have to do is tilt it up to you like you are reading a watch and it displays the time. It automatically tracks my sleep too. I don't have to start and stop it. The HR is a nice feature so I know if I'm actually in a fat burning range as well. This was my 2nd of these. The first one I couldn't get call notifications to work on, which was another major reason I bought it. My phone is always on silent it seems going from one office or meeting to another. Now I know when I'm getting a call and who it is right on my wrist without having to get my phone out. This one works like charm, but I did buy a two year protection plan on it, since manufacturer only covers for one. I gave it 4 stars because the only place it lacks is it is water resistant, not waterproof like the Flex.

I was looking for a wrist device that would give me both Heart Rate and time options. I was not sure how much I would use the other features, but for the first 3 months I have used the HR, Steps, Sleep, Silent Alarms, and Weight Tracking. Recently I have started using the Food/Callorie tracking. I was torn between the smart watches and running watches. After a while, I decided I would like to be unplugged more from my Galaxy Note 4 while I am working out. It has helped to be more relaxed and focused during my work outs. The only thing that I would add would be water resistance up to 3 meters or something so that swimming/showering would not be dangerous if you forget you are wearing your watch. Great device, and after hearing from friends with smart watches (great devices)... I would buy the FitBit HR again given the choice.

This is my second Charge HR that I have owned. I had to replace my first Charge HR 1 week due to syncing issues. However, within that first week, I had already started to appreciate its ability to track my sleep, heart rate, steps and calories. I had looked at other smart watches and trackers but liked they way this one felt and the features it contained. I am normally not a watch person due to the weight of them. However, the Charge HR is light enough that I don't really notice it. Plus, I only have to charge it every couple of days which makes it handy as well (especially traveling a lot). I also liked the App that you use with it as well. If the food is not readily found in the database, you can scan the item, manually add or take a picture and submit it. Anyways, if your looking for a device that is reasonably priced and meets your health tracking needs, try this one.

After having the Fitbit Force for over a year I found issues with the style band. I always got it caught on things and it came off. The same band is still in use on the current generation Fitbits in the price range below the HR. The HR uses a standard watch style clasp and is very secure. I no longer worry about losing mine while at work or taking coats on/off. It functions as expected. Very accurate tracking of steps, stairs, sleep and now heart rate. I like this added feature. The web dashboard is nice and it's integration into My Fitness Pal makes tracking your diet very easy. The makers at Fitbit addressed the issues with the first generation and delivered a solid product.

I absolutely LOVE my Fitbit Charge HR. As I'm trying to lose 30lbs in 2015, nothing helps more than being able to track my progress daily, weekly, monthly and in real time. I.e., a simple task such as after New Years shopping-- who would've thought my heart rate was in a close to cardio range where I nearly doubled the amount of calories burned versus simply taking a walk around the block? Excitement increased my heart rate which ultimately put me in a manageable calorie burning session. My favorite part is the app. I compete with friends and family to take the most daily steps and often find myself running in place sometimes just to try to beat them lol. Also bought the Aria scale...I highly recommend it! Nonetheless the only drawback is after charging you have to reset the heart rate monitor bc it times out or something. And sometimes you have to restart the app or the band to update synced activities. That's the only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me.

I highly recommend the Fitbit Charge HR. After reviewing several brands and types of activity wristbands this make and model is by far the best for me personally. I purchased the color black so that it would go with everything I wear. I also purchased it in a size large even though a medium fit. The large allows for me to wear it looser like a bracelet which I like better. If I want to track exercise I can just push it up on the arm further or tighten it up if necessary. I wear it all the time, day and night. I only remove it to charge it or to shower as this device is not waterproof. The device comes with a convenient USB charging cord which I just plug into my telephone adaptor or computer. It charges pretty quickly in about an hour and a half. The app on your phone will tell you how full the battery is. Some of the activities that this model will track on the actual wristband are: steps taken, current heart rate, miles walked, calories burned and floors/flights walked. It also has a clock feature and an alarm feature which gently vibrates at the time I set the alarm. If you download the app associated with this device to your phone you can reorder the tracking of these activities as they cycle through on the device display as well as sync the device tracking information to the app. Also on the app you are able to set your goals regarding steps. If you hit your step goal for the day the device will start vibrating and you will see fireworks on the display of the device. Plus you will get updates on your phone when you meet your goals. You can also track your weight, exercise, sleep habits, food intake, water intake. You can also track your calories eaten and start a food plan. The device will send you messages as well when your battery is low and needs to be recharged. When I go on a walk I will use the Track Exercise feature by starting the stopwatch. This is done by holding down the button on the side of the Fitbit until it vibrates. It will track your pace, route and heart rate zones which you can view on the app. I love the track sleep pattern feature as well. If you wear the device to bed you can view your sleep habits on the app. You start by setting a sleep goal like say 8 hours. I knew I didn't really sleep too well but didn't realize how often I was restless or awake during the night. You can view the tracking information on the app. You can view it in week mode or you can select a specific day to see a graph for just that previous night which indicates exactly what time you were awake or restless and for how long. I also receive badges by completing goals. For instance I received the Sneakers badge for completing my first 10,000 steps in one day. The Penguin March Badge for completing 70 lifetime miles and yet another badge called the Redwood Forest for completing 25 floors/flights in one day. That is a lot of fun. You can also set challenges and stay motivated by competing with friends and family. I haven't used this feature yet but it sounds like a lot of fun and I look forward to using it as soon as my friends are connected. Really the features of this device seem to be endless. I find something new that I love about it all the time. I really love all the graphs and information I can view on the app. But I am just that kind of person who loves to analyze data. Get your Fitbit today. It's a lot of fun.

Traded up from the Fitbit flex. I feel it does better at tracking steps. Showing your heart rate and Call ID are great features. The only downsides is it is not recommended to wear when showering and the bands are not changeable to other colors.

Overall, if you are considering grabbing one of these, the answer right off the bat is go for it. This is a great tool to help you in your quest to get or stay fit. As compared to the Surge (which I also considered), the Charge HR is a better size and $100 cheaper. If you want to track your routes through GPS, there is actually a specific feature in the app that allows you to combine data from the tracker and your phone to get a complete picture of your activity. So the only reason to buy the Surge is if you must have the few "smart watch" features like music control and text messaging. Personally, I think if you are going to have your phone with you anyway, you might as well just use it. You can decide for yourself whether the heart rate tracking is worth the extra $20 vs. the regular Charge, but for me, it was. I've had my Charge HR for about a month now, enough time for me to appropriately evaluate it. My official rating is more like 4.5 stars, but since that rounds up, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. The Good: - Accurately counts steps (which is typically your main reason for buying one of these trackers). In my experience, it is very accurate. With the added convenience of a screen (unlike some other popular trackers), I can actually watch my steps being counted as I am walking. Some have mentioned that it gets "stuck" sometimes and appears to not be counting, but on occasions where I have seen this happen, it always adds a chunk of steps shortly after being "stuck." My guess is that it is recalculating the speed you are walking at, and it is making sure to adjust its count appropriately. - Accurate and automatic sleep monitoring (not as in-depth as some trackers, but definitely adequate). There is no hassle of putting the tracker in "sleep" mode. - Accurate heart rate monitoring. 95% of the time during activity where I am interested in my heart rate, this feature works great. On occasions where it does not show current heart rate, it is due to the fact that my wrist (and as a result, the tracker itself) has been moving around a lot. I think this is acceptable and unreasonable to expect otherwise. If I really wanted to, I could wear the tracker tighter (and Fitbit suggests higher up on your arm), and I'm sure it would work 99% of the time, but it meets my needs as is. In order to get the heart rate to show again, all you have to do is hold your arm and the tracker still for 5 - 10 seconds. If that's not going to cut it for you, then you might as well wear a chest strap. Heart rate has shown almost flawlessly during non-active situations like sitting at my desk or walking around normally. - In-depth app with additional motivating features (competitions with friends, achievement badges, etc.). - I'll specifically give credit for allowing their app to integrate with non-Fitbit products. For instance, I have been using a Withings Smart Body Analyzer scale, and my daily weight AND body fat percentage measurements automatically port over to the Fitbit app seamlessly. I was afraid I would have to be constantly using two different apps, but that's not the case. Awesome! - Stylish and comfortable. - Customizable on-screen interface. You can pick which stats show up and in what order. You can also customize what double tapping on the screen does (vs. clicking the button on the side). - Caller ID works well in my experience, and also gives your wrist a short buzz, alerting you if your phone is on silent or vibrate and not in your pocket (caller ID can be turned off, if desired). I keep my phone on vibrate most of the time, and on several occasions, I would have missed calls had it not been for the wrist buzz. This is nice if you keep your phone in a pocket or coat where the phone's vibration is not easily felt. - Decent battery life (about 4 - 5 days), fairly quick charging (1 - 2 hours). The Bad: - As a modern rechargeable electronic device, I expect an accurate battery level indicator. The device itself does not have one with the exception of when it is charging. In order to see battery level, you have to go into the app, which will prompt an automatic synchronization. Even the app only shows three levels of battery - Full, Half, and Low. It would be nice if I could see a percentage so that I can better plan/decide when I want to take it off to charge. - No idle alerts. As other trackers have, it would be nice to have gentle reminders to get up and move for when you are sitting idle for long periods of time. Since the device keeps time and has vibration alerts, it seems like it would be a pretty easy feature to add. - The number of stairs/floors climbed feature only works sometimes (extra floors are often counted). Since this isn't really anyone's main goal, this isn't such a bad problem, but if the device has the feature, it might as well work properly. The Fitbit website actually has an extensive explanation on how the device calculates floors climbed and why it might show extra floors, and the explanation makes sense to me. Based on what I've read, the device looks for changes in atmospheric pressure to calculate altitude changes. My guess is that the winter weather and/or my clothing is interfering with accuracy. Since it is winter, I've only tested this feature wearing long sleeves where the device is under my sleeve for most of the day. I am guessing that the varying pressure of my shirt and/or coat against the tracker is making the device think that atmospheric pressure has changed. The only other thing I can think of is the fact that my office building is situated on a slope, so walking from one side of the building to the other actually results in getting farther away from the ground, and it may be picking up those changes. The flaw actually speaks well as to the design of the tracker since it is able to sense these changes. Since I haven't tested this feature without long sleeves or during more normal temperatures, I will reserve judgement. It's a neat feature, so hopefully it works better in other conditions. As I said, overall, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks in my opinion. I recommend it.

We love our fitbits. Both my husband and myself have one. We both started with the flex but hated having to pop the little thing out to charge it every time. So we updated to the regular charge. However Im a paramedic so I am active at work lifting things etc and it was forever popping off my arm and at one point was lost. I kept retracing my steps till my phone showed it was reconnected and I knew the general area to search. I think the band for the charge and flex are a very poor design. The charge HR however is like a watchband and very secure. It tracks your heart rate in addition to all the other options on the first two designs. The reason I took off a star and really wanted to take off 2 stars is that now that I have the charge hr it requires recharging every 48 hours or less sometimes. The flex and regular charge lasted 5-7 days. It drives me nuts that I am always having to recharge. Of course the one day I was in NYC and we were walking EVERYWHERE it decided to lose its charge . Fortunately my husband was still wearing his regular charge and smirked and boasted almost 15,000 steps . I should tell you that this is MY second Charge HR because my first had the same issues losing charge quickly and FIT BIT said that it shouldnt lose charge that quickly and sent me a replacement. Sadly the new one is the same... I love the fitbit but can't recommend the Charge HR without warning about the frequent need to recharge. Perhaps some people wouldn't care. I find it obnoxious.

I love having my fitbit and love the options it comes with. I waited until fitbit had the heart rate capability for monitoring during workouts and that seems to work well. It keeps track of steps, distance in miles, sleep, calories burned and has the capability to track calorie intake but I don't keep up with that as well. Definitely challenges me to reach my 10,000 step goal every day and exceed it. The only concern I have is the first time I wore it, it quit on me 10 minutes into my workout. I was going to exchange it but the next day I got it to come on again and it's been working ever since (about 2 weeks). It also doesn't always track my sleep...not sure why. Other than that it's been great!

I really like my fitbit charge HR. Especially the fact that after my run I can monitor my heart rate as I cool down. One issue I have is that my mileage after a run is slightly off. And I know this because I am a runner and I run a lot so the trails have mile markers that I use. The other issue I have is that fact that you can not use this in water. Most others brands I used before I could use in my pool. Love the colors. Love the app that includes challenges with friends and the awards you can get. Sleep tracker is great. Love checking every morning to see why I still feel tired. Really like that the wristband has an actual locking clasp so I don't have to worry about it falling off while running. Will definitely buy another if and when this one breaks.

I LOVE my fitbit Charge HR and I would never give it back, but it is not perfect and I don't want people to expect it to be. There is just no way it could be. There are some issues with stair counts being higher than they actually are. But I push a lot of doors open and swing my arms a lot when I walk. Sometimes I wake up and there are some steps taken that I haven't taken yet. BUT what it gives me is so much better! If you are going to spend the money on a fitbit you are much better getting the HR, my aunt has the regular Charge and vs mine she wishes she had the HR! It is very much worth it. Tracking sleep, heart rate, distance, calories, it is all amazing. The app/dashboard is great and super easy to navigate! Totally worth it!!

I like this Fitbit product for the most part, but am disappointed in the short battery life. I need to charge it every other day. I had a fitbit One before this, and that battery lasted a week. Not a very accurate heart rate monitor, either, unfortunately. Nowhere near a regular heart rate monitor like a Polar. Great for tracking steps and sleep, though, so for that I would recommend it to others. Really like the alarm feature, too.
