I read numerous recommendations and they all pointed to the predecessor of this model (still available). This is a new model which came out in the Spring of 2015. It is the first update of the most highly recommended dehumidifier on Earth, in about two or three years. Since the update, this new model has overwhelmingly taken the crown from the previous version due to a few engineering tweaks, such as strengthening the handle and relocating the intake and exhaust vents. The tank, when full, was a tad heavy so they trimmed its capacity by a pint or two. The previous model was applauded for its longevity and this one appears to be headed there too. I will get back to you about that in five years. My 3-bedroom house used to get pretty "swampy" in the fall months. Now it is as dry as I want it. This saves a lot in both AC and heating costs. Best Buy matched a slightly lower price and delivered in two days with free shipping. The shipping upgrade may have been a pre-Christmas special.

It's been running for several months now in the basement. I am using a small hose for continuous draining (no buckets to empty). it is much quieter than my old dehumidifier even when compressor is on. Fan turns off couple of minutes after compressor when desired humidity level is reached.

I've had many dehumidifiers over a 40 year span. This Frigidaire 70 pint model has to be the best. It is so quite I have to keep checking on it to make sure it is running. I have it in the basement and it is doing a fine job. I just hope it last longer then the other models I have owned.

I needed a quiet efficient dehumidifier for my bedroom and this one worked out perfectly. Fantastic product! My bedroom smelled better - less musty, and the humidifier is quiet, but pulls a tremendous amount of water from the air in a very short period of time.

Very quite running, seems to work very well. No complaints.

We purchased this dehumidifier for our basement. Works great and is very quiet. Good product offered for a great price. Had it shipped to our house for free as well.

So far so good with this appliance--relatively quiet and draws out a lot of moisture. Has an outlet to attach a hose for drainage. Best thing: You can pre-set the controls for humidity and power levels, and if the power is cut off it automatically restarts with the same settings when the power comes back on; which means you can plug it into an external timer and control the time(s) of day it will run.

Quietly removes 70 pints of humidity overnight (approx.10 hours) in a large finished basement( 50'x12' ). Would be 5 stars except for sloppy disposal of filled canister and terrible reliability based upon previous short shelf life (3-4years) of three similar units and recall due to fire hazard. Most dehumidifiers are manufactured by the same company, Midea Corporation. Dehumidifiers purchased from the 90's through the 2000's should be checked for recall status at dehumidifierrecall.com or the parent company website. They offer a cash rebate or new replacement model; customer's option. Takes about ten minutes to complete and removes a potential life threatening incendiary device .

I'm a tad disappointed by some earlier 5-star reviews touting the quietness of this unit, because while running it really makes quite a sound. Not "just like a window fan on low speed" but more like "someone running a hair dryer a couple of rooms away" only not as shrill. It may not wake you up, but it won't help you fall asleep either. :-) As for the dehumidification it achieves, gotta give it props. Our neighbor walked in after letting it run a full day, and exclaimed, "Feels like Arizona in here!" At the 65% setting, I almost never have to empty the bucket. Whereas, set to 40% or 45%, that sucker fills up fast (so use the provided external drain if you intended to go bone dry!).

Quiet operation. Very efficient. Easy to use. It is doing very well at removing dampness in my basement that has occasionally gotten a wet floor after a very heavy rain.

Great dehumidifier so far. It's powerful but yet still quiet enough to run while watching TV. Only con is pulling the bucket out to empty. There isn't a good place on the sides to get a hold of the bucket to pull out.

Very happy with this dehumidifier. Recently remodeled part of my basement and wanted to make sure it stays dry in humid summertime. Good performance. Ease of use. Good price point.

Just started using this dehumidifier. Purchased to replace a 25 year old unit and it seems to be doing a good job. Runs a lot, but that's to be expected when it's first started. Time will tell if it will be as good as the one it's replacing. Small water tank.

Very happy with the unit. Purchased a new house and needed for the basement. I empty the tank on average 1.5 times per day, so I know it's doing it's job and taking moisture out of the air. It's not quiet by any means, but I've heard louder dehumidifiers so I can't complain.

I had a moisture problem in the crawlspace of my new home. It's a very large and deep area and with the wet winter we had, there was a lot of water that couldn't escape. The humidity was over 70%. I put one of these dehumidifiers in the crawlspace and in a couple of weeks it was reduced to under 40%. It was pulling about 5 gallons of water a day from the crawlspace. I leave it on 24/7 down there and it's maintaining a reasonable 35%, still removing water, but not nearly as much as the beginning. This unit did everything asked of it, and I would recommend it to anyone.

We have a 1500sq ft basement, it has no trouble keeping the humidity down under 40%. Don't care for ease of taking out the bucket but is a nice unit. We did go with an extended warranty as units before this last about 1.5yrs. We shall see how long this one lasts.

Because of allergies decided to get this humidifier to take the moisture out of the condo and it works great In one day emptied it 2 1/2 times and it brought the humidity down to where the air conditioner can handle it for at least a month to the levels that are healthy.

Still working 2 years later.... Excellent unit that usually runs 24/7. I use an external pump to route water from the basement outside. Negates the need to empty the tank. Alerts to clean filter and empty take (if used). Recommend extended service plan if used often. These units do not always last very long. Fairly quiet. Works well.

Very pleased with this purchase. Not too loud, acts as white noise while sleeping. Pulls humidity out of the air very quickly. Easy to understand instructions. Casters let me easily move it to different rooms. Good deal and BB price matched.
