This is a great little netbook for the money. It's got just as many or more features than some of the more expensive makes and models. Probably not a bad idea to upgrade to 2GB of RAM.(Haven't yet, but plan to) The HD video playback can be a little jerky. Keyboard is small and takes some getting used to but is sturdy and feels like good quality. Multi-function trackpad can be a little tricky too, but also takes getting used to. Decent speakers and battery life. Windows 7 Starter not as restrictive as others have made it sound like. If your in the market for a netbook, give this one a chance.

The Gateway Netbook is a great tool for those that travel or just want a PC that's a little more portable. This machine does exactly what it is designed for.

Pros: Very portable and yet very powerful. I upgraded to Win7 Home Premium and 2GB RAM. The RAM compartment is easily accessilbe and took me less than 3 mins to upgrade. I use the netbook with the Hauppauge TV tuner (the one with the hardward built in, not the USB stick) to record FIOS cable TV. Recording and playback without any glitch. Link to my regular Laptop CD/DVD drive and play movies or install programs from CD without any problems. SWEET!! Cons: Wish BB has the other colors in stock. Fingerprints on glossy black cover are somewhat annoying. Touchpad takes some getting use to since it has no "border".

    Very Good for price

This is my first notebook and it is up to expectations in terms of internet surfing. It is not designed to multi-task so if you have more than two apps running it will go slow. Keyboard has large keys which is comfy. Looks nice with its outer shiny surface. Speakers are a bit low and whoever designed this thing put them at the front under surface of the device, which makes the sound hit your lap instead of your ears!!!! Overall, very good for price. I am satisfied with my purchase.

    GREAT LITTLE THING!!!

The great thing about this computer is its expandability. I put 2GB for RAM and it works like a champ now. One thing that I'm not so happy about is that it comes with Windows 7 Starter, this OS is so basic it makes me mad, you have to pay 76 dollars to upgrade to Home Premium. I mean, the starter edition doesn't even let you change your wallpaper, there's microsoft for you. Other than that, I love it!!! I went back and got a white one for my wife.

Great price, I looked around at a couple of stores Office Depot, Staples, Office Max and Wal-Mart they all had a 1GB, 160 GB Hard Drive with XP not Windows 7, for the same price $299.99, but I I got a much better deal at Best Buy. Best Buy matched their on price online and I got my Gateway for $269.99, plus Webroot Spy Sweeper virus program and Geek Squad for 6 mos, this brought my price back to $299.99, but I say it's still a great deal. It also came with Windows 7. Great deal Best Buy!

I really enjoy the convinces of carrying it almost 7 days a week. The speed varies on your location ,that my opinion.I suggest using where wifi is available or home network is available. No need to start a new broadband account.entertain others across the town or around the world using the camera is what I enjoy.Again connection to the internet varies where you are.Have fun

    Gateway support is AWFUL

The netbook itself seems OKAY. The battery life is good! The internet seems slow at times and the system itself seems a bit slow at times. For some reason I can't burn DVD's, so I am not able to create a recovery disc. I went back and forth with gateway support for a week (at least 10 emails) to which they were no help, offered no solutions, and just asked me to repeat steps to troubleshoot I had done and documented for them in the past. Finally they suggested they send me a recovery disc, which I agreed to ( this of course does not solve the problem that I can't burn DVD's) but at least I will have a recovery disc if I need to redo my hard drive. Well after I gave them the information to send me the recovery disc (which of course I provided them before) they told me they dont have any discs at the current time and to contact them back in 2 weeks. I will never buy another gateway product!!!!! and recommned that you don't either unless you want useless support!!!!!!!!!!!

    Gateway vs. Acer

If you're looking for a prefect notebook like experience than this shouldn't be your first choice. Some pages don't look good or "work" when displayed on this netbook. Some video and graphic applications will lag and get goofy. If you're looking for a great book reader, internet lunch companion, picture viewer etc... than this is perfect.

I was looking for something to use while I was recovering from surgery. This machine is lightweight, great for me using while reclined in bed.The keys are large and very comfortable. I actually like it better than my full size computer keyboard. The screen display is crystal clear with HD clarity! I absolutely love this netbook and would highly recommend purchasing this machine.Great job GATEWAY!

I bought this netbook just to surf the web and check email when I am away from home. Works just as I want it to. It connects great, and has great speed for such a small computer. I highly recomeend if this is all you want it for.
