I bought this computer to hook up my Sky track golf simulator. By far one of the best laptop, computers I’ve ever had. Really simple to use even for someone that’s not very computer savvy. Definitely glad I made this purchase.

KEY FEATURES
144Hz Refresh Rate / 1920 x 1080 Resolution
I7-12650H CPU (10C / 16T)
16GB DDR5 RAM
512GB nVME SSD
INITIAL CONFIGURATION & INSTALLED APPS
Gigabyte should be commended for their restraint in installing unwanted and unneeded bloatware on their machines. This is a prime example of less is more. With limited SSD space (512GB installed), the only Gigabyte installed software is their Control Center software. It isn’t the same as their Control Center software for their Aorus line, consider it a basic, more stripped-down version. Still effective though. It has just enough features and allows users to easily tweak video settings, screen brightness, and monitor system vitals.
One unique issue I had that I have not encountered in ANY other new laptop or desktop is a weird permission issue that I could not get resolved. The laptop prevented me from installing certain apps and services. I thought it was a Windows issue, but pouring through the settings, registry, etc. I could not find the issue blocking certain apps and services. A reinstall fixed the issue and I have not encountered the errors since. Hmmm.
On a positive note, the Gigabyte didn’t require the heaps of driver and system updates that plague a lot of other manufacturers after a new release. Just some basic drivers, an nVidia update, and some security patches. No fussing. Excellent.
DISPLAY AND KEYBOARD
The keyboard is basic, but functional. It does not have anywhere the customization potential as the Aorus line from Gigabyte. Further, it also doesn’t have the same quality tactile feel that the Aorus line has.
The same thing can be said about the display. It is a 15” full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Entirely adequate for general gaming but is not a very high-quality piece of gear. Color accuracy and reproduction is way off and only gets worse as the images get brighter and whiter. Gigabyte has very limited image management baked into the device, consisting mainly of brightness controls. Unfortunately, whether using the keyboard shortcuts for brightness or the Control Center software, the adjustments are so coarse that you can not get a decent brightness level for calibration. It is either too dark or too bright. I will post images of the color reproduction in my review. Of the laptops I have, this is the most inaccurate display in terms of color reproduction of any of my other devices.
UPGRADEABILITY
Thankfully, Gigabyte has allowed the end user plenty of upgradeability options. Both DDR5 RAM sticks are upgradeable. The laptop comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and Gigabyte states the machine will accept up to 64GB of 4800MHz DDR5 RAM. This G5 also has 2 nVME slots. One slot accepts a Gen 4 x 4 nVME drive, the other, only a Gen 3 x 4 nVME drive. Not ideal, but I like having 2 slots. I would say keep the existing Gen 4 x 4 drive as your primary boot drive, but it too is on the low-end of Gen 4 performance. I have several Gen 3 drives that come VERY close to matching this drive’s throughput. A good, high-quality 1TB Gen 4 drive would be a worthwhile upgrade, which would come close to doubling data throughput.
BATTERY LIFE
This laptop has one of the worst battery lives of any of my laptops. Trying for decent performance with good battery life, I picked the Balanced power scheme in Windows 11. I also opened the Gigabyte Control Center and tweaked the video performance to Power Saving. This completely disables the discreet nVidia GPU (RTX 4060) and relies solely on the Intel integrated graphics. Even with these changes, I was lucky to get 2 hours out of a charge. This wasn’t even gaming. It was just general use. Gaming would have pulled the battery down even faster.
GAMING PERFORMANCE
Enough bashing on this poor laptop. How does it game? Did it redeem itself? Afterall, it has some great specs (i7-12650H and an RTX 4060 graphics card). To get the best gaming results, I used the Gigabyte Control Center to manually tweak the video settings to performance. This offers up all the available CPU and GPU resources for gaming. Did these parts save it and earn my respect? NO, they did not. Why?
In a nutshell, it all comes down to thermals. The laptop is not able to remove heat fast enough to keep the CPU and GPU running at their prime. How do I know? It all started at the Horizon 5 benchmark utility. This laptop was only able to muster a pitiful 72FPS with a low 35% GPU utilization. I would and could easily tolerate this if it was 72FPS on Ultra settings. Nope. 72FPS was on all Low settings. Thinking this was a mistake, I hooked up a 2nd monitor to see the Gigabyte Control Center’s information while I had Forza running. Just opening the game, not even playing it, spiked CPU thermals to 82C. Doing any little bit of gaming brought temps into the mid to upper 90s. WAY TOO HOT. That explains why the poor GPU utilization in the Benchmarking. The CPU was being throttled back due to heat and the GPU couldn’t use any more of its potential.
I have other laptops, with lesser hardware installed. Lesser CPU’s and lesser GPU’s. Yet, they can easily average close to 120FPS on High and Ultra settings in Forza. Not this Gigabyte. Its fans are howling like banshees on my desk, yet thermals still climbed too far into the 90’s.
This trend continued during whatever game I tried on it. COD MW2, Fortnite, Rocket League, Starfield. This laptop can play them all, but not at the same quality and FPS as its competition. Not even at the same quality and FPS as my Gigabyte Aorus laptop.
CONCLUSION
Is this a laptop I can recommend? No, unfortunately, it is not. Gigabyte’s competition can turn out better results with lesser hardware. Not that the Gigabyte has inferior hardware, it just has an inferior cooling solution. Even my similarly spec’d, Gigabyte made, Aorus laptop produces far better results than its sibling here.
Unfortunately for Gigabyte, this isn’t a simple and easy fix. This isn’t something a faster nVME drive or 32GB of RAM can fix. Sorry Gigabyte, this is not a laptop I can recommend for gamers.

This Gigabyte laptop packs a lot of features into smaller price for a dedicated “gaming” laptop. The build is solid, and it comes with a decent screen, 15” 1920x1080 144hz screen. It is a full laptop with lots of I/O ports. WiFI 6, BT 5.2, USB A, USB C, min DP, LAN, micro SD, and HDMI. The main stars of this laptop are a mobile RTX4060 GPU and a 12th gen Intel I7-12650H CPU. Both can power games quite well. The default of 16GB of DDR5 RAM is also enough to run about any game. The 512GB M.2 is a good starting size for storage. It comes with Windows 11 Home.
I compared it to an Intel 13th Gen 4050 laptop and the Gigabyte beat it by ~1/3. The Gigabyte scoring ~2500 and the other laptop ~1700 in 3DMark. The Gigabyte comes with a good amount of power for a laptop. It is not powered by USB-C, but a barrel charger that connects in the back of the unit. It has HDMI and min DP, but does not have full HDR on the built in screen, or for external connections. Windows only allowed HDR for streaming. I used both HDMI and the mini DP port to run on an 2650x1080 75hz monitor with no issues. Picture and sound came through fine. Being a full laptop, it’s a bit on the heavy side, but it has everything built in port wise, no extra dongles are needed to connect to anything. LAN, and USB ports are there to accept what ever is needed. Hardware wise, the unit can adapt to your needs. The keyboard has a numpad, but with the size of the device it’s pretty cramped for all of the keys, but it’s always good to have a numpad. You can easily change the color of the keyboard backlighting through all RGB colors.
For software, good on Gigabyte for not including any bloatware. A standard monitoring/adjusting features software system is all that’s included along with a Gigabyte screen background. Nothing to remove or turn off. The WiFi 6 connected fine and close the AP had throughputs or 105-112GB where the LAN port got 111-117GB sustained. Everything is standard Win 11 and easy to setup. To use this machine in gaming it needs to be cooled. This is done primarily through 2 fans, one for the GPU and one for the CPU. Each can get up to 5000 rpm, which can make the laptop pretty loud. The heat is pushed out decently and the keyboard never got so hot I could type on it. Sustained gaming may cause some heat issue to slow down the unit. Using the built in screen on a desk may have some issues with heat. But, when I closed the top, had it elevated off the desk, used an external monitor and BT KB+M, I did have any issues, just noise, but the heat was sent out the back decently it seemed. The speakers are standard small laptop speakers and sounded average. The camera worked fine, but does not include a way to cover it.
Upgrading the laptop is something Gigabyte made easy. I upgraded the RAM to 32GB, and added an additional 2TB M.2 in the second slot. 13 screws and the back pops off. No plastic retainers. I lifted from the vent holes on the side and came right off. The Memory is in the middle and easy to replace. The empty M.2 slot is next to the installed one. Gigabyte includes the M.2 screw needed to secure it, also very nice. Once in, the BIOS recognized everything and after a second reboot everything was good. Upgrading to Win 11 Pro went smooth as well.
For an entry level gaming laptop, the Gigabyte G5 KF5 has a good amount of power. The 12Gen intel CPU, and 4060 GPU can power through about anything. It has plenty of ports and wireless capabilities to connect to anything you need, easy to upgrade, and a decent price for it. It doesn’t have HDR, but without an HDR monitor or TV it may not be an issue for you. Noise and heat are really the only drawbacks and can by mitigated somewhat depending on your setup. Overall, for the price it’s a good machine whose positives are far greater than its negatives. It should be more than fine we any gaming sessions at the price.

Gibabyte’s newest laptop, called the G5 KF5, is overall a very good, very capable machine. I wouldn’t consider it an entry-level laptop, But it would be one notch higher. Capable of running pretty much any game out today, or running multiple programs, spreadsheets, videos, presentations with out a problem.
Screen: 15.6 FHD (Full High Definition) is pretty big for a laptop, crystal clear 1080p resolution resolution, everything looks sharp and vibrant.
GPU: The Graphics Processing Unit also know as a Graphics Card included here is a RTX 4060, more than capable of running any of todays games, I would put it around the same processing power as a Xbox series X, and maybe even slightly higher.
CPU: The Central Processing Unit included is an Intel i7, a very capable processor at handling any game or task, or programs.
Ram: 16GB of of DDR5 Ram (8GBx2) is plenty to play any game out now, no worries here.
Storage: You get 512GB of storage here, 512 is the bare minimum a gaming machine should have to be honest. You could try to upgrade the SSD in the future or you can buy external external menomory to add more space.
Misc: The laptop itself looks and feels very premium, it is made of high-quality plastics, very well designed, and overall just very eye pleasing, at this price range it would be hard to find a better looking quality laptop with everything you’re getting for the price.

Gaming laptops seem to be going generic these days as they all sport the same processor and graphics cards. So what makes the Gigabyte G5 KF special?
First lest look at the specs. The G5 KF sports a 12the gen Intel i7 cpu and an Nvidia RTX 4060 gpu. Making this computer on of the faster gaming laptops in the market today. Also it has a 144hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution for its 15.4inch lcd screen.
And while this is pretty normal for gamers, what sets it apert are the number of ports available for me makes it stand apart. This is coming who has a gaming laptop without an sd card reader even. First this laptop has three USB ports two of which are USB-C 3.2 while the other one is a USB 2 port. It has the standard HDMI output but one top of that it also has a display port thereby giving you more options for connecting to an external monitor. On top of that it also has the standard mic and audio ports and an ethernet port as well.
This model comes with the standard 16GB RAM but can be increased to 64GB RAM. Memory is also at the standard 512MB which for me is totally lacking for gaming but sufficient for basic office use. But you can always increase storage. I understand that there is a second NVME for expansion. There is no expansion slot for a SATA SSD. Unfortunately, there are security seals in two screws for this model and I am afraid that this may void my warranty.
This laptop has Windows 11 installed right out of the box. What pleases me is that it comes with almost a stock version of Windows 11 save for Gigabyte’s control center which enables you to customize some settings and also monitors your system.
I really haven’t maximized this computer yet as I do plan to replace the storage to 2TB. But as of now this computer is a performer and I highly recommend this laptop.

Pros:
Plenty capable out-of-the-box, and there’s an available PCIe M.2 slot to add a second drive to store games.
Memory is upgradable, as well.
Display is very good for the price, but it’s Full HD, 1080p. Screen is a nice matte finish, which also means it’s not touch-input compatible. Touch displays have shiny, reflective glass that I don’t care for on a laptop.
The 4060 is perfect for gaming at or near max detail settings at that resolution even with newer games like Hogwarts Legacy. The high refresh rate with v-sync eliminates screen image tearing while maintaining accurate input timing.
Wifi is quick (anywhere between 250-750 mbps download with Speedtest on a crowded 1 gig home wifi network), but I don’t have a wifi 6 router to really see what it’s capable of.
Cons, actually more nit-picky than anything:
Battery life is fine if you’re web browsing or working in Excel or Word; the integrated graphics handle those tasks much more efficiently than the discrete Nvidia chip does. As soon as you fire up a game, battery life drops. That shouldn’t be a surprise, as gaming causes more load on all components, including the cooling system.
Speaking of cooling, the fans can get loud while gaming. I have a cooling mat from my previous gaming laptop that helps a lot with this.
One oddity that I’m still trying to figure is the charging port on the back of the chassis. Plus, there’s no USB-C charging; charging happens through a proprietary round plug.
The charging block can get hot to the touch when the laptop is under load. Not too surprised here, either.
I picked up a Bluetooth mouse because I hate using a touchpad for anything but the most basic tasks. That’s not the laptop’s fault, more of a personal preference.
Those small points aside, the build quality is on par with just about any mainstream manufacturer out there. Plenty of ports, relatively thin profile and light weight make this a great value when priced under $1k. There’s very few options available with the specs on this laptop at the price point.

Great Gaming and Graphic Laptop

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, speed and overall performance of this laptop. The first thing I noticed was the aesthetics once you open it up. The keypad has a nice design on it and the keyboard is backlit with a very calming blue light which is adjustable for brightness. The keyboard also has a 10-key on the right-hand side, which is perfect for work as a bookkeeper. When working (or gaming) for a few hours, the laptop stays fairly cool on the bottom compared to some of my others. The two best features of this laptop are the responsiveness/speed and the graphics, both of which are excellent. The keyboard and keypad respond immediately to touch and keep up with the amazing processing speed of the Intel i7. The graphics are vivid and true to color, which is critical when designing, and purely enjoyable when gaming. Overall, this laptop is powerful, durable, fast and has extremely high-end graphics. The only negative I have found is the battery status indicator. When charged 100%, I disconnected the charger, and it immediately went to 95%. Then, once I started using the laptop, the remaining time would go up as the percentage decreased. I'm sure it's adjusting for the type of usage, but at 88% it said 1 hour 45 minutes remaining and at 61%, it said 3 hrs. 9 min remaining. I can get 3-6 hours at least with fairly heavy use so the performance isn't bad, I just can't rely on the indicator. I use the % of battery life, rather than the remaining time, to estimate the time left before I need to charge it. This is a very small complaint among all the exceptional features.

So far, a pretty good laptop which does what I need it to do. It is fast, good processing power, plenty of memory, sufficient external connections, great graphics, excellent picture, light and feels sturdy. I updated to Win 11 Pro, which made a lot of difference considering I am using it as my home office laptop. On the negative side, the built-in speakers are not all that good (although I mainly use headphones, which is fine), and the keyboard is not of the best quality (it warps a bit if you push harder on the buttons). Also, the battery life since a bit less than the specs, but I am using it plugged-in most of the time. Overall, it is a very good laptop for the price I got it (while it was on sale).

Nice Gaming Laptop, This thing gets loud like a mini vacuum and the CPU will thermal throttle, I would get a cooling pad or do a Re-Paste for better performance. The 75W TGP fits the profile of the laptop nice. The one that shipped to me came with FB01 BIOS and I have had no issues, all other drivers came up to date. Not a big fan of the DTS: X Ultra Audio and the speakers are ok at best. The key board is nice and I like that it has a NumPad. The overall build quality is good and its light but if you going to game I would plug it in because battery is only 54Wh. The WiFi in this this is awesome, it comes with Intel WiFi 6E and I'm getting up to 450ish mbps over 5G. Only played a few games so far until I get a second drive. Starfield with Beta Update DLSS3 FrameGen on around 90FPS Average Medium Settings. GIGABYTE AG4512G-SI B10 : 512.1 GB M.2, Samsung 8GBX2 DDR5 4200. It does not however have MUX Switch. Its advertised as MUX2 and as far as I can tell is controlled by the Clevo Control Center(Not Gigabyte Control Center)Performance option on.

Coming from a different brand gaming laptop that I liked, this Gigabyte G5 KF5 truly is awesome. Little on the thicker side, but not too bad and moderate in weight compared to most gaming laptops. Sleek black shell color and subtle design is pretty cool. Display is super big, sharp and bright, an so smooth with the high frequency fast response! Nice big keyboard with number pad which is nice and the trackpad is a great size for me as well.
Gaming has been very fast, and benchmarks and actual gameplay even a little more smooth with great rendering (Witcher and God of War ran great). Excellent also for my Draftsight engineering app and a home architect program as well. Speakers are good and loud in my opinion as well.
Battery life I'd say is a bit of a weakness as always for gaming laptops, but pretty typical. Plenty of ports along the left, right and back as well. My Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, and headset also has worked fine without issues. WiFi connection has been as fast as any other computer in my house. Very powerful and reasonably priced gaming and multi-purpose machine...I'd say give it a try!

The G5 KF5 is a great mid ranged gaming laptop.

The G5 KF5 is a great mid ranged gaming laptop.
It's much lighter than most other gaming laptops in it's range. With a 15.6" FHD screen, this laptop is small enough to be portable
but also large enough to still put out a nice gaming experience. At about 4.5lbs it's light enough to sit on your lap and play,
or carry around pretty much anywhere. It even has a slimmer profile at 0.89 inches tall. I really like the smaller lighter design,
it really brings back the idea of a laptop being portable.
Even though the cooling system takes up less space than other gaming laptops, it's actually pretty efficient.
With the exclusive WINDFORCE cooling technology, there are 2 fans with 59 blades each, 4 heat pipes and 4 exhaust vents.
I was able to play some high performance games for hours without degradation of play or overheating. The GPU temp
remained between 75 to 77 degrees Celsius the whole time. Under 80 degrees Celsius is considered a normal operating temperature.
Anything over 90 degrees Celsius could be damaging for your system. The fan was on during most of the play at the higher settings, while it's not silent it is quieter than most other gaming laptops.
(( please keep in mind that most gaming laptops draw air from the bottom surface of the laptop, so you should always make sure those vents are free from paper or fabrics, as those items can get sucked up into or against the vents, blocking the normal airflow. If this happens your computer could overheat. - make sure to use a flat solid surface to rest your laptop on or make sure it's propped up in a way to keep those vents clear. If I am using the G5 in my actual lap, I always place it on a book or board first, and never directly on my jeans or other fabrics like a couch or sheets.))
The G5 KF5 comes with an i7 processor and 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD which is a good start on processing power and performance.
The GeForce RTX 4060 is NVIDIA's successor to the RTX 3060 which was a solid mid range GPU. NVIDIA has made a huge improvement
with the 4000 series RTX cards by adding enhanced AI features. Through their MAX-Q technology suite NVIDIA can push a higher level of
performance out of their GPUs, bumping your computers performance and battery life over what would normally be expected.
The AI fueled features include:
DLSS 3 which can improving visual performance and FPS up to 4X and acoustics and battery life by up to 2X
High Efficiency On-Chip Memory vastly improves power efficiency with double the bandwidth, over 10X the capacity, and improved clock gating.
Ultra-Low Voltage GDDR6 Boosts GPU efficiency with the lowest voltage graphics memory ever.
Tri-Speed Memory Control Enables the GPU to switch to new, lower power memory states dynamically.
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical over the dramatic claims Gigabyte and NVIDIA were promising
with this laptop, but I was pleasantly surprised once I got the chance to actually play around with it.
First off, I would like to say that in its default settings this laptop does a good job out of the box, but with
changing the settings to maximum performance, it does a lot better.
Through the system settings and graphics card settings you want to change your power mode to max while plugged in
and you will also want to change the preferred graphics processor to NVIDIA. From here if you want to take advantage
of the MAX-Q features you need to enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in the Windows Display settings.
Some games that are capable of using this feature will do it automatically, but others will need to be set up to do so.
So for those you’ll also have to turn on the “Frame Generation” settings in the actual games settings. in some cases
you'll further have the option to set Reflex to additional “Boost" or change how intense you want the DSLL 3
enhanced visuals to be.
While playing Cyberpunk 2077 on one of the highest graphic settings - "Ray Tracing: Ultra" my FPS went from
48FPS to 83FPS with Frame Generation turned on. The game played fine in both modes without graphical tears,
glitching or slowed down/laggy performance. At 83FPS the game looked great and continue to handle just as well.
I was also able to get similar results playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with "Ultra+" graphics enabled
I was able to go from around 60FPS to over 110FPS.
Everything I played on this laptop played great at virtually any graphic setting I wanted. Obviously one can
increase FPS by downgrading the visuals, and as this is not a 4K screen, some visuals would be lost pressing the
machine to perform that high, but it is capable of running at higher than expected FPS and graphical settings.
Now, not all games out there can fully utilize the all the features of MAX-Q and it's DSLL 3 technology.
As of right now the compatible DLSS 3 games are:
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Atomic Heart
Black Myth: Wukong
Bright Memory: Infinite
Chernobylite
Conqueror's Blade
Cyberpunk 2077
Dakar Desert Rally
Deliver Us Mars
Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed
Dying Light 2 Stay Human
F1Ⓡ 22
F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch
Frostbite Engine
HITMAN 3
Hogwarts Legacy
ICARUS
Jurassic World Evolution 2
Justice
Loopmancer
Marauders
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Midnight Ghost Hunt
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Naraka: Bladepoint
NVIDIA Omniverse
NVIDIA Racer RTX
PERISH
Portal with RTX
Ripout
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Scathe
Sword and Fairy 7
SYNCED
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
THRONE AND LIBERTY
Tower of Fantasy
Unity
Unreal Engine 4 & 5
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Also just another note to mention is that the higher FPS is AI enhanced, so I'm not sure if that might create
a millisecond of "lag" in visuals and reaction time. I didn't notice any delay in my gameplay but it is something
to consider whether or not you want to enable this for certain games if it becomes compatible with games like
Call of Duty or similar intense shooters.
I was also able to play the following games (at highest graphics qualities) with these FPSs:
Destiny 2 - 100FPS
Horizon 5 - 111FPS
Fortnite - - 100+FPS
Call of Duty - 75FPS
Halo Infinite - 80FPS
Assassin's Creed Valhala - 80FPS
Honestly, everything I played looked good, and played very well. I didn't experience any freezing of
the system nor did I experience any glitches or bogged down gameplay.
I also ran several different types of benchmark software. All of them came back with decent scores for
a mid level gaming laptop.
3DMark CPU Max Threads 6943
VRMark Orange room ranked 10990
PCMark 10 ranked 7053 after adjusting and 5704 in default settings
3DMark Time Spy ranked 9258 after adjusting and 8466 in default settings
3DMark Speed Way ranked 2252 after adjusting and 2015 in default settings
NovaBenchmark ranked 3101 after adjusting and 2699 in default settings
UserBenchmark ranked 110/102/110 after adjusting and 95/101/95 in default settings
Gigabyte has been around since 1986. They have been one of the leading manufacturers of Motherboards for many years and
have combined business relationships with ASUS and they own brand AORUS. These are some of the worlds leading companies in laptops,
PCs and gaming systems and components. So, it's not a surprise that the G5 performs so well at it's level.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen different in this laptop would have been a 1TB SSD instead of the 512GB.
At 512 you can only install a few good sized games. If that's all you play, then the 512GB will be fine for you. Otherwise
you will find yourself constantly re-downloading and installing from your game library if you stay with the 512GB.
Luckily for us the G5 is upgradeable. It comes with (2) M.2 2280 slots for storage with a MAX capacity of up to 6TB
and if you are curious the RAM is upgradeable to an impressive 64GB of DDR5-4800 (2 slots as well)
Unfortunately you do have to remove the whole bottom plate, on the laptop but it's worth the small amount of time
if you are interested in upgrading.
I really love the lighter design and performance of this laptop. The RGB keyboard can be set to virtually any color. It has
an RJ45 port (still the best option for online gaming), MicroSD slot, 2x USB C port, mic and headset jacks, 2x USB (3.2&2.0)
a Mini DP and HDMI ports, (basically all the essentials most anyone would want.)
Overall I think this laptop is a very capable gaming system, and I am very pleased with it's performance.

Gaming and laptops used to be two words that would never go together. The form factor of a laptop was never indicative of the performance needed to have an enjoyable gaming experience. However over the last decade or so with the increase in technology, laptops have become a viable option if you needed to game on the go without being married to a desktop. SSDs and laptop specific dedicated GPUs really deserve the credit for the increased capabilities of these gaming laptops.
Speaking of SSDs and GPUs, this GIGABYTE Gaming Laptop is equipped with a 512gb SSD and NVIDIA RTX4060 GPU. The SSD is able to handle the speeds necessary to reduce program boot times, but may leave something to be desired as it will not be enough satisfy any serious gamer as game file sizes are ever increasing and after a few months of ownership you will be left to chose which games stay installed on your laptop and which ones need cut from the team. In a digital age, it is fairly easy to remove and reinstall games, but it may prove to be an inconvenience. Similar to the SSD situation, the 4060 Graphics Card is adequate for moderate gaming, but will fail to wow you. While playing most modern games on higher graphics settings, you will see 60-70fps, which isn't horrible. The 4060 has minor generational upgrades over its 3060 predecessor, however the performance difference is negligible. To be fair, the 3060 was a much improved GPU over previous generations, but the 3060/4060 GPUs are intended to be cost effective entry level GPUs and it shows.
Something GIGABYTE definitely nailed though is the amount of connections (2 USBs, 2 USB-Cs, a LAN port, SD Card Slot), and their locations. I have a couple other gaming laptops that have the power connection in the middle of the right side of the laptop and it is an absolute pain when working on wall power. This GIGABYTE power port is in the middle of the back of the computer. THIS IS WHERE EVERY POWER PORT SHOULD BE! I really hope other companies take note of this.
Overall, this GIGABYTE Gaming Laptop is a decent entry level laptop. It will get the job done. But it will leave you wanting more. There are other products out there in the same price range that will outperform this laptop. However I have yet to get my hands on a laptop who has a layout that makes more sense than the way this laptop is laid out. If you can get this laptop at a good deal, I would definitely snag it. But just understand that this laptop will always be the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Great value gaming machine. Expandable, but loud.

Bought this machine to run Starfield primarily almost as a portable alternative to an XBox, and it's doing great at that. My one complaint is that the fans make the machine sound like it's trying to fly off. For around $200 I went and doubled the ram on mine and added a 2tb storage driving. It was nice to be able to add more internal storage without having to reinstall Windows thanks to the extra m2 slot, so points for expandability. For clarification, Starfield ran great before either upgrade. Battery life is sufficient, but not great. Though the screen is only 1920x1080 resolution, it's a nice looking display. The machine gets points for not being terribly heavy or awkwardly shaped, and for the keybaord and touchpad being relatively high end among non-mac laptops.
Overall the machine has been quite stable and works well for my purposes.
