I thought I would try this out as an alternative to a bluetooth receiver for my radio/speaker system. However, it really would only play through the few Google apps associated with the product. Also, the cord provided to connect was not long enough to tuck the device out of the way.

Works good but has dropped off of network a couple times.

Not really impressed, workable but could have been better.

I have several google homes and minis in my house already but when I threw this Chromecast into the mix I've had nothing but issues. I've rebooted and reset everything and every time I connect the Chromecast I have the same problem.

Inexpensive option for upgrading your older stereo. The installation went well. However the software interface needs work and it was flaky. Returned it and invested in Sonos speakers. Sometimes you do really get what you pay for.

In the case of Chromecast Audio (now called Google Cast) you get much more than you pay for! I bought two for $55, connected one to the stereo downstairs, one to the stereo upstairs, and I now have whole house streaming of whatever I want to play on my Android phone, iPad or Google Play Music app on my computer. It would cost $700 to buy two products from another company to do the same thing. You can stream from the most popular music streaming apps and for the few that don't currently support Google Cast (like Amazon Music) you can just cast whatever is playing on your Android phone through the chromecast app. Also, I downloaded Google Music Manager on my computer, which lets you export all of the music on your computer into the cloud, so I can also stream my own music collection through Google Play Music. In the near future, multi-room streaming will work on speakers with Google Cast built in, so I'll be spending some of my savings on portable speakers so that I can have synchronized music playing throughout my home AND outdoors. Love it!

As of today, apple won't let you broadcast your music via the chromecast. It would only work if you have Spotify premium or other third party apps

Works only with premium subscriptions of YouTube red or Spotify. Audio mirroring with chrome desktop browser is not great, with lag and frequent connection drops.

This is a good product, but is not needed if your sound bar, etc. is Bluetooth enabled. Also, at least for now, it only works with certain apps.

Disappointed it was not compatible with iTunes where most of my music is located. If your app is supported it worked well.

Hard to set up. Has to be used with google app. It might work better with Android phone and google equipment but it is not great with IOS

i tried connecting to my wifi but eventually gave up, will try again when i have time to finesse with it.

Not a good option for listing to music and very much limited application. Hence returned.

I was excited to see this product as it connects to my Bose speaker system with the 3.5mm connection and that it would go on my network as a wi-fi device and use wi-fi to stream music from my Mac Retina laptop using iTunes. But, I found that the device would drop occasional a random second or so of music - so it made it horrible - a nuisance - and unusable. Tried many fixes but nothing could overcome this problem - so returned it.

Got this trying to turn my studio speakers Bluetooth, only issue is it’s not compatible with Apple Music. Smh

I recommend only if you are using one room with one unit and not trying to join multiple chrome cast

So many things wrong here. First, contrary to the packing you cannot set it up with a Mac. iPad or iPhone, but not a Mac. Instant irritation. If you do set up with an iPhone, it wants to send a *lot* of information back to Google. If this wasn't enough, the sound quality was incredibly poor, and it dropped out frequently on my network. **Epic Fail**

it doesn't allow me to stream youtube to the device. it only works with google play. that is why i give it a 2 star.

This is an awesome idea, and I thought with it being google, it would do it well. I was wrong. The package says it works with Spotify and iPhone, so I thought it would work with Spotify on my Mac and Spotify on my iPhone. They both connected and I could play music, but it would make it about a minute into a song and just stop. I took it back the next day and got my money back.
