Customers are saying

Customers commend Chromecast Audio for its ease of use, excellent sound quality, and reasonable price. Many appreciate its seamless streaming capabilities and compatibility with other Google devices. While some users wish for a longer range and a built-in battery, the overwhelmingly positive feedback centers on the device's ease of setup and superior audio performance compared to Bluetooth alternatives. The convenience of using WiFi for audio streaming is also frequently highlighted.

    Great sound, easy setup

Installed easily to my older Onkyo home theater system that I had stored away for a long time. I purchased a mini toslink cable for that extra bit of audio clarity. I prefer to cast audio in guest mode using the Pin # as I dont always have my phone connected to wifi. A few apps require a few extra clicks to see the google cast audio. Overall it's an excellent inexpensive device to bring new life to older home theatre speakers

What's the point for Apple users?

    Posted .

It doesn't work with iTunes or any Apple music app, which makes it useless for Apple users unless you want to do nothing but stream Spotify. The range isn't very strong either, which made my setup pretty annoying. That being said, the sound was great and the functionality of casting was neat. It's just not useful for me, so I'll be looking elsewhere.

    Better than expected

Installed this in a HTD system and it was easy to connect to the WI-FI network. Set-up was easy and it worked really well. No streaming issues with Pandora. The built in antenna was excellent, it sits on a shelf above a refrigerator behind a door and no issues connecting to the router in the basement. I did have to buy a 3.5mm "Y" with RCA jacks for the left and right channels. It only came with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm pin plug headphone jack. No big deal.. Recommended.

Totally go hands free with the Chromecast Audio. .Cast spotify, saavn, youtube, iheartradio and google music to your Chromecast Audio. Streaming is easy and set up is easy too. controlling your music just from your mobile phone is great tech. And for the price, no one can beat this Google product.

Turns the vintage stereo into a modern stereo

I had been using bluetooth receivers and recently purchased two of these to use with Google Play music. I have one using a Toslink cable running to a tube pre-amp and then to my Vintage Yamaha. Great sound. No complaints. The other one feeds a Luxman R117. Very easy to use and the sound is great.

Had this for years - it has worked with no issues. I guess it really has no moving parts so should work :) I like these and have them on all of my stereos in the house.

It doesn't take much to set these up and get multi room audio working, the only issue is you need to remember to launch the app from within chromecast or it doesn't seem to let you stream. If you use apple music this is not for you, stick with something that does Airplay, but for Spotifiy, Pandora, or Google music this works great!

Good sound easy set up - no volume control

My Stereo is across the house from my office, but the "B" speakers are in the office. I used to have a cable running from my desktop computer to the stereo in. I tried Bluetooth, but I was too far away for a good connection. So, I tried this. Setup was easy and quick. The sound is very good. But, there is no volume control! So when the phone rings I dash across the house to turn down the stereo, then run back, etc. Not good. Also, I don't see anything about this being secure. It's on my wifi, how is it protected from hackers? I'd tell a friend to wait and see what evolves.

After seeing the Sonos line I liked everything but the price. The Chromecast Audio allows me to use the equipment I already have for better sound for $30.00!

I received one of these as a gift from Google - what an amazing product for very little money! Easy to setup and works flawlessly! I immediately went out and bought three more - one for each of my kids in college! We have Slingbox, so they all can watch our Directv programming for free via the internet. It is now SO much easier to do via Chromecast - they can easily send the feed to their TV wirelessly and can keep the laptop near them to navigate the onscreen remote. They absolutely love it! It is worth every penny!

I love this device. I have the Chromecast for TV on all the TVs in my house and I bought this to hook up to a set of computer speakers that I had sitting around. I can set up any number of apps on my phone to play music through the speakers now, which is invaluable to have for parties or just listening to music. I love it, I would recommend it to all my friends and family (and have given them as gifts in fact!)

    Good, But Limited

I have a radio automation program that I wanted to feed the audio output to a downstairs audio system. Chromecast works perfectly for feeding audio from the Chrome browser, but not a dedicated software program. I thought that Chromecast would show up as a virtual soundcard that I could use as an audio output, but it didn't. Again, it was easy to set up and works fine for playing audio from a Chrome browser, but didn't suit my needs.

Works Great, BUT NOT if you don't have WIFI

    Posted .

Let me say, I really love the Chromecast AUDIO (This is not a video device). The audio is better through WiFi and with the digital audio connector than using bluetooth. You can cast AUDIO from your phone, tablet and your computer (haven't tried yet) with the Chrome Home App. BUT the BIGGEST CON for me is that you CANNOT use this device unless you have a separate WIFI connection. If you have a hotspot on your phone-That will NOT WORK. Essentially you NEED FOUR (4) Devices to make this work. 1) Wifi separate from anything else 2) phone, tablet or computer with Google Home app 3) Chromecast Audio device 4) Speakers with amplifier to get the sound. GOOGLE really needs to fix the ability of this device to use your phone's own hotspot, or at least allow me to project my music directly from my phone to the device. Best if you leave it docked at your house for premium streaming audio with a digital connector. Not much use otherwise.

Does what it's supposed to and is easy to use. I have the Chromecast Audio connected to an old school Yamaha receiver in my garage with 2 old school Technic speakers. I connect to it with my phone and jam out while working in the garage. Easy to set up.

I am constantly listening to music on pandora and not having to turn on a TV or burn out my tablet/phone battery to listen is great! I have a cheap set of speakers and just play music. I am definitely considering get a second one to do muti-room playing.

I turned my old receiver into a smart receiver for $35, much cheaper than a new Sonos setup, also made a group with my Vizio soundbar, probably going to get another one for the patio. I have used it with IHeart and Google Music
