I have the original Chromecast dongle with audio and video but the video quality was not good. I can't be certain why the difference between audio only vs audio and video. Probably a combination of less bandwidth required for audio only in addition to product improvement. Regardless I have much better performance with this Chromecast Audio and am very pleased.

Very nice unit, inexpensive and works great. Sound overall good. If you have picky ears you might be bothered by the sound quality. Not as nice as my USB DAC from my computer. the high end is a little annoying to me. It just sounds a little harsh. For the money I can't really complain. I will keep it for an extra system in the kitchen. I think most people will be very happy with this.

Now I have wireless speakers. Added utility to the old speakers.

I have a TV chromecast, which I love, so I am not surprised that the chromecast audio is equally wonderful. Setup takes just a few minutes and could be done by a chimp. Would have given 5 stars if it worked with a few more streaming services or played songs directly from my phone w/o needing another app as middleware (allcast, BTW), but I knew what I was getting into when I bought it.

This thing allows me to play music from Spotify on my phone on real speakers without using wires. The only thing I don't like about it is that it won't work with YouTube. You have to use a Chromecast video for that. I thought maybe it would just cast the audio and show video on the phone still but that's not an option.

I bought this item so that I can use it along with my Google home in my studio. and this was the best decision I made. It works all the time, without having any problems. When I buy or get more speakers in my house, I am definitely going to buy a Chromecast Audio with it.

Allows for any speakers to be made “smart” and receive music from any chromecast enabled services. Handy for older speakers that don’t have Bluetooth or smarts built in.

Run this into a receiver that has a good DAC with an optical cord, and you'll be in for a treat. Sound quality is excellent. Best $35 I've spent in a long time. I have not tried it with the analog 3.5mm cord.

Hands down the quickest way to find something to watch and get it on your TV. No boot time. Phones are always quicker than any set top style box. Good number of supported apps. Amazon is there only hold out.

These definitely solve a lot of issues when you can't easily run cables between equipment.

Works great. Note, though, that although you can group Audio Casts together (to play concurrently across different speakers), you cannot simulcast using both Audio Casts & Chromecasts (for video).

Reason that I got this Chrome Audio is that I just want to listen songs from youTube without turning on TV or seeing bad ads. THIS DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT YOUTUBLE, so it's considered useless to me; I could play my favorite songs via my current ChromeCast without spending $35 and a trip to BestBuy. Anyhow, I just wanted to drop few lines to let folks who want to do what I just mentioned above know limitations of this device and save time and money. For now, hold on your purchase until Google enhance/update this device. Thanks.

Great supplement to my older bose system that kept me from having to purchase a more expensive bluetooth connector to the wave system. Works great.

All my friends have this so I wanted to give it a try, it works great I gave one as a gift to a family member as well.

It's a great product, I'd just wish you didn't have to upload your music through Google Play in order to stream saved music on a device.

These devices are awesome, I love the multi room support. And for the price, you can't beat the value.

I love the hands-free function using my cell phone to listen to music from speakers. It's just awesome.

I hooked this up to old receiver in my garage. It works well for streaming Pandora.

Works just like it was stated to do so...connection was easy and fast set up
