This is a great easy way to add multiple speakers to you home.

If you are an Apple/Mac user, do not purchase this product! Not compatible with Apple Music. Even with approved applications like Slacker Radio, you have to press play AFTER EVERY SINGLE SONG. I did not do due diligence and assumed it would work. What a waste of my time. "Don't go there! It's a TRAP!" :;-/

I can use it to stream music. I was so interesting!

After installing some outdoor speakers I bought a Chromecast Audio device to stream Youtube music. Turns out you can't cast Youtube to a Chromecast audio device. I assumed the regular Chromecast and the Chromecast Audio could stream all the same apps. Not the case.

it would need to connect with bluetooth for this to be any good I am not gonna use this at home it would be in my car , at work... basically anywhere I do not have WIFI so I will be returning as soon as possible.

While it supports a lot of streaming services and is cheap, the analog out sounds like all the instruments are squished together. Also, the device artificially introduces gaps in between songs - not cool! Audio out of the TOSLINK is so-so. Don't expect high quality music out of this device. "The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the low price is forgotten ", as per a famous gent whose name escapes me. You have been warned...

When it worked, it was okay: sound quality was rather poor when directly connected, a little bit better when connected with the optical out (that is a great feature, I must say). At some point, it stopped showing up in my cast devices but I didn't dig it out from behind my stereo (my fault) in time to file a warranty claim and now of course it is too late. Google refused to replace it. It is cheap for what it does but look elsewhere for longevity. Then again, maybe can't expect that much from a cheap and cheaply made device.

Based on the product description, I thought I would be able to stream my large collection of MP3's from my laptop to stereo system. The Chromecast Audio is not compatible with Windows Media Player. It also will not play songs unless they're from an online service, or uploaded into the Google Play library.

Seriously misleading. Cannot connect easily to 5 Ghz networks and does not stay connected to the network. Cannot use with an iPhone Apple Music. Limited applications available on the iPhone. Impossible to set up. I've been trying to set up this device for the past twenty minutes and it continues to disconnect from the network. Seriously I hate this thing.

Utterly deceptive. Box says "cast your favorite music" and supports iPhone, but it does not support iTunes! I bought this as a gift for my wife and she can't use it. Gift fail; returning immediately.

Don't buy any of the Chromecast line I've got gen 1 gen 2 and audio an none of them work properly.

Google wants you to pay $10 per month for casting music from YouTube, YT audio, and Google play.
