Customers commend Chromecast Audio for its ease of use, excellent sound quality, and reasonable price. Many appreciate its seamless streaming capabilities and compatibility with other Google devices. While some users wish for a longer range and a built-in battery, the overwhelmingly positive feedback centers on the device's ease of setup and superior audio performance compared to Bluetooth alternatives. The convenience of using WiFi for audio streaming is also frequently highlighted.

Forget the Bluetooth! Forget the wires! Save time and money. Fill your home with sound. This product utilizes your wireless network to accomplish this. You can purchase multiples of Chromecast Audio and connect each one to various amplified speakers throughout your home. You don't realize the need for it until you use it. A nifty little invention. Thanks Google! -- (Hint: If you use the Google Mini, it requires the Chromecast Audio device in order to play content to a remote speaker. The current Google Mini doesn't utilize bluetooth for streaming audio.)

Using a few of these scattered around the house can create a really great sound for a small dollar investment.
Had a bunch of computer speaker systems lying around and figured I'd see what I could do with 4 of these. No high end components no big investment. I am really pleased with the result.

A good value for multi-room audio

I got a few Chromecast Audios to hook up around the house to make a Sonos-like multi-room audio experience. Chromecast Audio did not disappoint. For the price it's perfect. Works well on Android and iOS and even from the Chrome browser on Windows.
I gave it five stars because for $35 it is economical to add to your existing audio system, powered speakers, or other amplified speaker system. The Chromecast UI and experience may not necessarily be Sonos-like in some ways, but once you get the hang of it and setup some multi-room profiles, it's very easy to use.

Chromecast audio is easy to set up and use. Unlike your regular Chromecast, you don't have to worry about finding a HDMI port or finding a screen to connect it with. For this, all you need is a speaker and if you have an audio receiver with an optical input, the sound quality will be real amazing.
The only small con is that there's no native support for casting audio straight from your PC to the Chromecast. If you want to play your music from your PC, you'll have to use a media hosting server program like Plex.

I wanted a device to be able to stream music to a set of studio monitors mounted in my living room. I really didn't want a blue tooth device as I wanted to avoid audio compression. The Chromecast Audio allows me to stream media via wifi completely on its own and will play an entire playlist while you're doing something else on your device. It's definitely worth the low price. I'll be purchasing another one in the future.

Solid audio streamer from many Android and iOS apps. Docked one star for fidgety setup: I had to do set up a few times and still get some inconsistentcy when trying to stream from my older iPad, but that could be because I have an older iPad!!
Highlights: streaming from iOS, Android, synced multi room capable with more than one unit and the Google Home app. Most of the bugs are worked out. Can stream from TuneIn, Pandora. Cannot stream from Amazon music. Getting there Google!!

I bought four of these to use around the house. The multi-room feature has been awesome! My father has a different streaming unit that rhymes with Bonos. IMHO those systems work and sound good, but are in no way worth their high price tag. These units deliver high quality music to stereos I already have! I am using two of my four units with optical out, and the other two use phono out. All of them sound great! I can't believe these are so cheap! Absolutely Perfect!

This thing is amazing. I set it up at my work, a gymnastics center, and now I'm just sitting here turning on music to practice to from across the room. Any volume adjustments or if a bad song comes on I just pull out my phone from my pocket real quick.
It's a breeze to set up and sounds amazing. I just leave it set up in back of the stereo and have had 0 problems.

Great device for whole house audio streaming

So I've been dipping into the Sonos pool looking to have whole house audio -- while I like their products, they are insanely expensive and I already have great speakers in my ceilings in several rooms of my house. I was looking at buying the Sonos Connect which would give me the whole house audio experience I was looking for with my existing speakers when I discovered Chromecast Audio. Sonos Connect cost $400 with tax. Chromecast Audio? $35., They do the exact same thing. I installed Chromecast Audio in seconds, connecting it to my Onkyo receiver, and was streaming Spotify throughout my entire house. $35. If you have a great amp and speakers and don't want to do bluetooth to your receiver or plug it in wired, Chromecast Audio is for you. I can now sit on my deck this summer and control what I play and how loud I play it from my phone. I think Chromecast Audio is a Sonos Connect killer and I own Sonos products that I love.

I have this plugged into my stereo and powered through USB on the stereo. It sounds great and is very convenient to use. Once I have started a playlist I can turn off the phone and it will continue playing.
Within the Chromecast app there is configuration for the dynamic range of the speakers. If you set this too low it will sound tinny (like a small bluetooth speaker) on good speakers, too high and it will be garbled on poor quality speakers.

This chromecast is great if you have an older or 'dumb' stereo system without any other smart devices connected. It allows you to stream almost every music streaming service from your phone, tablet or computer, and switching sources is about as fast as changing stations.

I had been using two Chromecast Audio devices to connect my Spotify account to our family room and bedroom stereos. I was pleased with the setup and performance of that arrangement, so I began researching whole house solutions to stream music. Sonos was the obvious first choice, but I didn't really care for the sound of their lower priced speakers. Since I wanted music in five additional rooms (seven total), the Play 5 was beyond my budget.
Do to the idiosyncrasies of Bluetooth, I wanted a WiFi based solution to provide sound to the additional rooms. The Chromecast Audio device is easy to connect to your existing network with the Google Home app on either iOS or Android. There an audio jack on the device to allow you to connect the Chromecast to any powered speaker with an audio jack. Once connected, you can name each Chromecast then use the Google Home app to assign the Chromecasts to groups like "Whole house", "Upstairs", "Bedrooms", etc. Each Chromecast can be in several (or no) groups. Through Spotify, I just select playback to the group of my choosing and the music streams seamlesly to the rooms I've picked. I was able to find speakers that I liked as well or better than Sonos that are now connected as a whole house solution. Everything sounds/looks great and I was able save several hundred dollars in the process!

I originally intended to just buy a Chromecast video. But since there was a sale for 2 Chromecasts for $50 I bought one audio and one video. I used to stream to a Bluetooth speaker all the time. But now that this is hooked up to my home stereo I always use this. Super easy to set up and the sound quality using it is amazing! There is even an option for 'high dynamic range' which makes it even better.

I bought this specifically as a low cost solution to play high resolution audio. I got Spotify on my phone (make sure you select "extreme quality" in settings when downloading music and download your music on an SD card), connected Chromecast to my receiver (using optical cable) and was done in 5 minutes. I liked this so much I bought another one for my bedroom.

I already own regular Chromecast, but when i wanted to listen to music only i had to leave the TV on, now with this new one and i can use the Optical to my receiver, it sounds great and easy to use just like regular Chromecats, i compared to regular one and i think the sound is better quality. Got to get optical cable with 3.5mm out to regular optical input for receivers separetaly

I bought this for an older ipod compatible Bose speaker my wife uses all the time. She was previously using a bluetooth adapter but, whenever she would get a text or notification, it would dim the music and play the notification sound. The Chromecast is great because it only plays the music and lets the other notification sounds get played by your phone. It also has no range limitations like a bluetooth connection would (say you are playing music and then go upstairs with your phone for something, it would cut off and you would have to restart the app).
I have read that multi-room audio is coming for multiple chromecasts which would basically make any speakers in your house work like a Sonos setup regardless of the make of the speakers (Bose with Sonos with Beats with UE...) No more getting stuck in an ecosystem.
I highly recommmend this.

Great for controlling the music from your tablet or phone without having to go to the stereo. I waited a long time for this to come around and it works great. With the December update, you can group audio chromecasts and have the same music played in multiple audio systems in your home. Great for those days when you are moving around the house from floor to floor!

I now have 3 Chromecast Audio devices in my house. I bought more when they went on sale and Google added the ability to group them to do concurrent audio in multiple rooms on multiple devices. When it works, its great. No lag between them so they are all playing music together.
However, there are still issues and not just with the groups. I use Plex as my main music app. When streaming audio, it plays great and the quality is better than using Bluetooth. I have issues when my phone screen times out and there are times the app loses connection to the Chromecast audio and it can be annoying getting it to reconnect. There are times I need to force close Plex app, Chromecast app or occasionally have to reboot the Chromecast itself. Not the end of the world if you have some technical capability but for the non-technical user, this could be extremely frustrating.
I'm sure there will be updates to fix some of this and at the end of the day, I really enjoy the product for what it does. As I mentioned earlier, I think its a much better solution than bluetooth where the quality can sure be lacking at times.

Music sounds good when using it....better than bluetooth. Still some bugs with these though. There are times I'm casting music and turn my screen off. The app I'm using says I'm not connected and the Chromecast app says I'm still connected. When using my music streaming app, it won't let me reconnect again. Need to force close both apps and sometimes even reboot the Chromecast before I can connect.
