I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to systems like the Sonos, and this fills the role nicely. The one problem with the Chromecast is the need for an Internet connection (i.e., able to get out to the External World) in order to stream audio from a local server: it would be nice to be able to set this up on a trivial network (e.g., at a party, etc.) without needing a full pipe.

I have configured 3 of these throughout my house, each wired to a different stereo. After fiddling with the locations so as to ensure wifi connectivity they work fine. My gripe is the difficulty of using these to play local files from a windows desktop. Sure there are workarounds, but it's like jumping through hoops just to do something seemingly so simple.

This is a great device that will make any old stereo new again.

Inexpensive, easy to set up. First one runs HOT, exchange for another one. No issues at all. I used a AudioQuest optic adapter going to a small DAC, sounds much better than using the 3.5mm audio out from unit.

I purchased this device and later purchased two additional devices because I have found that this particular streaming music solution is very reliable when utilizing multi room streaming capabilities. I have one in my bedroom, one in the main room, and one even in the bathroom. My app streaming music programs are seamlessly received in all three rooms with zero discord; meaning, there is no delay from room to room and the sound is streamed simultaneously in unison. I have found this capability to be lacking thus far until this product. I'm very happy with this product and I would gladly recommend this purchase.

Received a Google Home as a gift and this little gadget was a great helper! I were able to wirelessly connect our Klipsch speakers to the Google Home and hear our music throughout the house! Much less expensive than new speakers!

Great product to stream your phone music to your home stereo.

Audio version! This little guy works very well with so many apps out there. Just plug in the 3.5mm into any audio source (speaker system). Then use various apps to connect. Only thing that's no good is how Spotify on a computer (desktop or laptop) requires you to connect to the Chromecast on your phone's Spotify app first, only then does Spotify work with it on the computer. It is important to note that this is entirely Spotify's fault, though, since it is their software. So 5 stars all the way for the Chromecast Audio and its capabilities! Note, the regular (video, not audio) version is completely different in terms of what and how it connects to various electronics. This audio version is for audio only (duh). No HDMI or anything, just a 3.5mm wire.

This is my second Google Chromecast Audio. Both work like a charm with my Plex media server and deliver music where and when I want it. Best value in wifi audio.
