If you can still find one of these little gadgets get it as it will make your self powered speaker come alive and right into the 21st century. I have connected to a power amplifier and a pair of speakers. I added the set up to the Nest Home App and now everyone at home can stream they iPhone and I pad music through the speakers. It is very easy to do. Too bad Google decided to discontinue the Google Chromecast audio. It was one of their better products.

Chromecast audio is a must have for any audiophile who has dreamed of a whole house audio system. Zero lag means you can walk through the house enjoying your tunes at a reasonable volume without feeling like you are time traveling. The wife loves that I don't have to crank the volume in one room (making it uninhabitable) to enjoy it 3 rooms away. If you are like me and have multiple antiquated stereos with aux/rca connections, pick up one for each system and blow the dust off. You won't be disappointed.

No problems hooking this up and casting to it. Sound quality is very good. I had hoped that I could use it to cast *everything* from my laptop to klipsch speakers and eliminate the cord, but it apparently only casts from chrome. And if you open a Youtube video in a different tab, you have to again select to cast from there. That's why I gave it only 4 stars. Also, to use it as a digital input on my receiver, you need to buy an additional $20 cable which is a bit disappointing. But, all in all, it's a great device for the price and I'm glad I have it.

Worked very well with my audio receiver and can transmit music wirelessly to speaker in other rooms. Only drawback is can't send youtube video music to this device.

I use this to add standalone speakers to my home group. Easy to setup and the sound is crystal clear without any playback problems.

I have 7 speakers through out my home. Great sound, very easy, inexpensive way to bring music to your whole house. Occasionally loses connection but overall excellent.

We are very happy with this product and grateful to the suggestion of it by the Best Buy associate. We are now able to split audio between our family room and the rest of the house, and our Google home works great with it!

If you are a member of one of the streaming music services, this would be pretty good. I have a boatload of local music so this didn't really work for me. Couldn't stream from my laptop except through a web browser and 1 song at a time or though google play. I do have some music though Google Play but 97% is local. I could have uploaded it though Google Play Music but that is just a pain. Couldn't play anything from my S7 Edge either unless I uploaded the music. Again, no. I bought this due to the discount and easy set up but did return it. Iy was useless for me.

I love these these things. Got two of them to go with my google home speaker so that I could cast away. My thing is have no old speakers laying around.. so the only speakers I have are bluetooth speakers and when using these I am now wiring wireless speakers... I wish maybe there was a bigger market of speakers to go with these. Also I would like to be able to join and remove speakers on the fly rather than the connection get killed every time I adjust a group as well as adjust speaker volume individually which I I think is a major need because not every room has the same acoustics.

Easier to use than I thought. Not very expensive. Definitely recommend.Bought the chromecast video last week.now this for my stereo.

I bought this speaker to replace an NFC/Bluetooth audio receiver I had plugged into my home audio system. That old device would frequently have poor audio quality and would easily cut out if I moved with my phone between rooms (even if I was still within 20 feet). This chromecast audio works like a champ. No matter where I am, the connection is always solid and the quality is fantastic (since it's all over wifi). Plus it's way easier to cast from any device without having to pair new ones. Works great with the new Google Home too.

works with my Bluetooth speaker, easy to use with android phone of my google home. I use it a lot with my big sony party speaker xb7 for outside parties.

The only problem I have with it is I can't figure out how to make it work with Apple Music

I'm really happy I go this device. Having audio out and not having to deal with the HDMI of a regular Chromecast allow me greater flexibility of playing music around the various amplifiers in my house. And it was on sale when I got it!

This product is great by Google. I love that you can make almost any audio speaker smart and function wireless. The clarity of sound is not the best when you compare it to the Sonos ecosystem. However, with the money you save it is worth it.

Chromecast Audio is a cheap option for streaming audio into a stereo system. While not as easy as Sonos or with the features of it, it does do it for a fraction of the cost. This device also has optical audio out as an option, the light comes out of the regular headset jack so it requires a special cable. This device also allows you to link multiple chromecasts together to have a unified sound system throughout. While not as robust as the Sonos, it gets the job done. Five star for the price and what it can do for that price.

Easy to set up. Uses wifi instead of Bluetooth. Small and can be easily hidden behind speakers. Had speakers wasn't using but can now.

I was at first skeptical of its usefulness, but as I started acquiring Google Assistant enabled smart speakers to stash around my house, I decided to get this for my Soundbar to get a more immersive whole home audio experience. It works just like a Chromecast for video, casting from compatible apps, but can also be easily controlled for playback of almost any app that can stream to a connected smart speaker. The best experience also includes having a Google Assistant connected speaker nearby for control of playback without your phone.
