Customers are saying

Customers commend Chromecast Audio for its ease of use, excellent sound quality, and reasonable price. Many appreciate its seamless streaming capabilities and compatibility with other Google devices. While some users wish for a longer range and a built-in battery, the overwhelmingly positive feedback centers on the device's ease of setup and superior audio performance compared to Bluetooth alternatives. The convenience of using WiFi for audio streaming is also frequently highlighted.

GREAT Device for Whole-Huse Multi-Room Stereo

After Google cancelled this item, I searched all over, and eventually purchased 12 from various sources. It is an essential piece of tech hardware for setting up a whole-house multi-room stereo -- the pictured dongle plugs into any speaker, or speaker pair that can accommodate a 3.5mm audio plug. I have 12 stereo speaker-pairs connected to my 12 Chromecast Audio units, and have music in every room! I can use ANY source of audio that is played on my PC (internet Radio, my MP3 Collection, iTunes, ..., etc). I use an obscure Casting protocol (DAS), that enables me to create speaker groups, and manage the audio stream. I am hoping that Google reincarnates these, or releases a new & improved version.

Have used an HDMI Chromecast for many years, and got the audio for a receiver with no HDMI port. For the services that play nice with it the Audio works great. However, regular YouTube will not work with it. Downloaded the YouTube Music app, and was disappointed to find that in order to stream to it you need a $9.99 subscription plan. Works with most audio-only services, but check to ensure it will work with the services you plan to use.

I really can't think of anything wrong with this device. Hooked it up to my home theater system...now I can tell a Google Home device to play music on this device and have it play through my sound system. Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Made my 15 year old Sony STR-DA5200ES a smart receiver. Love it!

we only took it back because it was popping with our stereo, we intend to go get another one soon when they can get new shipments in. It was a very very easy to set up, couldn't have been easier! Both of our Android phones found it. If you use TalkBack, it is a piece of cake! Couldn't be easier, kudos to Google!

I love these little things! I got two to plug into my speakers at home in different parts of my house and they work seamlessly to play music in my whole house. With another program on my computer I can stream Spotify to the chromecasts, other computers in the house, and even Bluetooth all at the same time and it sounds awesome!

What an awesome little device this is! I bought it for my girlfriend, who has an older stereo that she would plug her phone into via the aux input to play her music. With this thing, she can connect her phone wirelessly and it sounds just as good as when plugged in. A great addition to any older stereo!

I have purchased a total of 6 chromecast and chromecast audios to upgrade 3 TV's, two Bose Sounddocks and one old 70' s receiver. They work great as grouped speakers for audio and for streaming. Use with Audial, Spotify, Pandora and Dscast for music has nearly been flawless. Sometimes there have problems with Home requiring a reboot.

    Works great, one small complaint

Replaced a bluetooth audio device connected to my home stereo with this Chromecast Audio. We already have a Chromecast connected to our TV, so we're familiar with them. This works great, but has one small quirk. After a while of streaming music from our phones or tablets (haven't noticed any consistent time frame or conditions, but haven't tried very hard to figure it out either), the phone or tablet will stop being connected to the Chromecast Audio, BUT the music (like Pandora or whatever we are using) will keep on playing through the sound system. When we notice it is when we hear a song we want to know more about and we look on the device to see what's playing. Then the information on the device will no longer be accurate. If we reconnect the device by casting again, then things start over again. It's very weird, but we still have music playing, so not that big of a deal for us. And if while you are in that strange disconnected state you want to stop or pause the music, the Pandora on the device isn't controlling the music coming out of the sound system (weird, I know--we're not sure how it's working...), so the only way to stop the music is to shut off the sound system. For all we know, this could be something to do with Chromecast Audio, or perhaps just our sound system/wifi network, or maybe even with Pandora....

I love my new Chromecast Audio. I use it in the garage, for the most part, when tinkering. Very nice for when having a party and you want music throughout the house or even outdoors. I would have given it 5 stars if I found a way to play the downloaded music on my phone. Instead, I use Google Play Music. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

This little hockey puck is amazing. I love the ease of setting it up and actually using the product. The capabilities of multi-room audio because of the Chromecast Audio is an amazing feature. It needs to be talked about more often. Please note: if you plan on using this to stream Spotify, you need to have a Premium account through Spotify.

I have several speaker docks and was looking for a way to play music throughout the house. I easily cast pandora from my iphone. the sound was very good. However I did need to restart the chromecast several times, if I paused pandora for to long, it lost connectivity. Also sometimes I could not connect from my ipod . It did not recognize the chromecast.

When I heard what Chromecast Audio was able to do, I couldn't wait to get one. True enough, it turns any non-bluetooth device into a bluetooth device! I can use my phone and connect it to whatever I want to play or listen to. Also connects to other Google devices. Awesome. Totally worth it. Highly recommended.

If you already have speakers, buy this instead of Sonos. It costs like a tenth of the price and performs nearly all the same functions. Great product.

I use the Chromecast audio to stream everyone’s favorite playlists in the office. Coupled with the Google Home mini, we have great tunes all day long, plus we can still use the Home Mini to answer life’s most-important questions (like where’s the closest Korean BBQ that delivers) while our music still plays.

I have been using Google Chromecast audio to add the ability to stream/cast music to my older "dumb" speakers. This device works well. It's easy to setup and I have no trouble casting my music to my existing speakers. Basically, it does what I wanted it to do with little fuss.
