I think this would have been better if there was more support for different apps or even just adding Bluetooth to combat this. It is still good for what it is though which is to allow a person to take their old speakers and allow them to have music streamed to them rather cheaply. Google casting features a very small list of apps that are allowed to stream to it. A lot of them are paid subscription services with a free radio/ad option which usually suck. Additionally, you can use apps like Allcast which have an in app purchase to unlock full workings inside that allow local media to be cast. If you are trying to do a Sonos system with your own speakers throughout the house this is a much cheaper alternative. If I had more speakers and rooms I wanted to play music in throughout my house, I would go to this setup before investing in a Sonos system. Right now I would not recommend this to someone unless they are trying to replicate a Sonos system and know what they are getting into with app support.

chromecast adds great value to our family entertainment

I was hesitant when I first learned of this thinking it was an unnecessary device. Boy was I wrong. I hooked this up to a Bluetooth Speaker (JBL) and now have full control of my music through my Android phone. And the "ok Google" voice feature is pretty cool...

this item is a perfect gift and it helps stream music.

I bought the Chromecast audio to create a whole house surround system with 2 Google home assistants. The set up was a little more difficult than anticipated needing to purchase a cable to make the connection to my stereo. If you are looking to create a less expensive alternative to sonos this is worth considering.

Connected mine to my older JVC home stereo amp. Plugged in the phono input and plays through the speakers throughout the house. Able to play music from my music app on my phone and tablet. On my stereo I have to keep the "app" volume down so it doesn't distort, but able to control the volume on the stereo.

No issue and reliable. Very easy to setup as well.

Breathes new life into my BOSE SoundDock 10. Which was already amazing for what it is and how long its lasted, but using it in unison with my other multiple audio systems gives the most seamless reliable hi def "surround sound" in the entire house experience ever. Neighbors can kiss my kiester 8am-10pm

I got this to hook up to my Sony gtk-xb7 to add it to the rest of my Sony/Google cast multiroom setup. It works as expected. The only downside, and what kept me from rating 5 stars is that when plugged in to a 2.1amp USB (like what is on the XB7) it gets a ton of static, so I have to plug it into a standard outlet with the wall wort it came with.

Quick and easy setup for connecting speaker to a Bluetooth device.

I bought two of these. Only one is still in use but it gets used quite a bit. I stream my google play music to it since it is hooked to my surround sound system. My only complaint is when I leave the house my phone will no longer control it when I come back. Sigh First world problems...

This google music cast works great with my older Yamaha receiver. It plugged right into the aux input and just a couple of steps later I had it connected to my Uverse internet wifi. This wifi google cast device is WAY better than any other connections like Bluetooth to rca, I've used in the past. I highly recommend.

I didn't think this little puck would be able to get wifi in our backyard because of how small it is, but it actually works fine. It's a little delayed due to the weak signal, but it's nice being able to cast to our backyard speaker system instead of connecting that directly to a phone or radio.

I use a couple of these to pump through a distributed audio system in my house. I've had a couple issues with the setup. The unit would disappear and I had to do a few hard resets to finally finish setup.(WiFi is not an issue in the house.) After that, they've been good since. Great for streaming music at a great price.

This device accomplished exactly what I was expecting and it was real easy to set up. I would’ve given a 5 star rating but I had some issues the first couple days with the device connecting up to Android phones in the house without being prompted to do so. Once our guests with Android phones left, Ive had no issues.
