I have a 1985 HK490i and I've managed to connect the Chromecast Audio so I can play MP3s and Spotify from my phone through it and through two Pioneer CS 403's from 1986. I'm a volume person and the sound crushes the Sonos Play 5 and Play 1 that I bought and returned 2 days later. My only complaint is configuring it and the Chromecast app. It can take a bit of time to configure things and you might have to repeat the config process every few times you use it which is really annoying.

With some setup involved with the app and connecting to the device, once that was taken care of I was able to access my music library that I stored in Google's Play Music app (psst, they allow you free uploading of 40,000 songs, free). It has been amazing turning my older high quality speakers into a great streaming system. Expect good sound quality but not great. For $35, its worth it. The Marvell DAC inside the device is a good one you aren't getting a Sabre, Wolfson or Burr-Brown. You get what you pay for.

These are great for hooking up an extra amp/speakers with good quality streaming capability. Wish they weren't discontinued.

got this to add a little bass to my current Google home speakers. Bought a used subwoofer and hooked this up to it. Works like a charm.

Purchased two of these and they have been wonderful for integration with Spotify on several existing wired speakers. The multi-room audio feature is wonderful!

It is a very good product released by Google, which eliminates the use of aux cables and also helps in using the speakers with no bluetooth compatibility.

Easy to set up and I was able to listen to music in a short period of time. Google offers help screens and addition information on line.

Since Bose ST has limited music service supported bought this to hook up to listen YouTube music and guess what it worked awesome

Only works with limited programs. Can't stream your own music or any radio program you want severely limited choices. Would not buy unless opens up to music from my phone or computer.

While I did have to buy a separate y splitter, this has been easy to use and love that I can stream my music to an older, non BT receiver. Works great!

Stick with airport express. Much more stable connection and much easier to use. Plus you can stream anything you want unlike chromecast.

This is a great thing to pick up if you have a nice speaker that you want to be able to cast audio to with the Google assistant.

The dongle is very easy to configure, quickly connects to the network and has great range. A good way to bring legacy audio equipment into the digital age.

I wanted to stream audio to sonos and watch a movie at the same time, but it is too slow and has a delay. For only music isvery good!

I had this hooked up and setup online in minutes, I can walk anywhere around the house with my phone in my pocket (even the deck) and it never misses a beat.

Unfortunately I think Google has discontinued this product. It was perfect solution for streaming audio to older receivers

Now that you can add multi devices to cast to different rooms or the whole house, this lets me choose which type of speakers I can use in each room.

I have speakers built-in to the walls and ceiling throughout my house, this was great so I can wirelessly play music to my speakers from any room.

Awesome purchase...just added this to my old Onkyo receiver (had to purchase a 3.5 adaptor). Now I have surround sound in my living room.

Great product. Streams from wifi coverage. Better coverage / distance than bluetooth. Please note that it does not work with Amazon Music at this time.
