Great product

I do not have a Smart television and no longer desire to pay the money for one. I used to use a VGA cord to hook up my Mac to my TV in order to view movies on the television. The Chromecast now allows me to continue doing so wirelessly. I can not only stream from my Mac but from my iPad and smartphone as well. I just love it. I have even convinced several people to purchase one as well.

Gift for geek friend

The cost is really good for a small piece of technology. It is useful, especially if you want to use Netflix or Hulu from your laptop, tablet, or phone to your TV. Better instructions are needed.

I also use it as a way to have an additional monitor on my computer by "streaming" a static image tab from within Chrome. It works well enough but I did not see anything in advance indicating it was limited to 720 screen resolution.

Good try but needs time to add more apps

Fire Stick has to be plugged into an AC outlet but Chromecast is connected to my TV usb power. Chromecast tends to run hot though. With bot the Fire Stick and chromecast, I could sideload XBMC or TVMC. I prefer the Amazon with the real remote vs. using my smartphone. Got both for under $30. The Roku 3 is more expensive and I could attach a HDD. I did not try the Roku Stick.
