Chromecast is an incredible device! There is a loto of channels and apps available in Play Store, including those aimed at children, documentaries, fitness, food and more. But there is no remote control, and every set needs a smartphone to do it!

I ran into some problems setting this up. I actually stopped and came back a few days later and the issue had resolved itself without me doing anything else. I'm not sure if that means a bug was fixed or what but now that it's working I love it !

The media focus of the Chromecast is a really solid reason to buy it. However, I struggled to find useful applications of the features of the device as it is now. I Think compatibility is the biggest issue, but is easy to overlook with the cool features available to users. I enjoy streaming video and launching my media on my TV (though a media server compatible with Chromecast is necessary), and using this device. Overall, the potential and the functions of the Chromecast are worth the $35 to me, though it is not a replacement for an Apple TV, Roku, or Boxee like device.

This little gadget works well. Picture quality is great. No lag when watching videos. Easy to setup and connects to smoothly to mobile devices. I can't wait for developers to add more apps.

My Samsung TV has smart functions but it is terrible, freezing and crashing all the time. I bought this to replace my TV's "smart" function. It has been great. Searching for YouTube videos on my phone is faster than using the TV remote. I can also cast my phone screen to the TV as well.

You can't go wrong buying Chromecast for $35. At this price its a fantastic device. Setup was quick and easy. Within a couple of minutes I was up and running. Sending video from YouTube or Netflix (via my Windows laptop, iPhone or iPad) is super easy and works 95% of the time. The best part is that it directly connects to those streams so you can use your phone or laptop for other things (or switch them off). Currently it only supports YouTube, Netflix and Chrome browser. This is pretty much the only negative. Sending a tab through the browser worked but the video quality was poor. Support for more apps will likely happen over time. Buying it at this price is a no brainer.

I was a skeptic. I have a friend who had problems watching videos or t.v. programs and them getting hung up, or having to buffer. They did not have the problem on their computer. They also have a family with a multitude of electronic gadgets so they are guessing there is a lot of interference. I am not techy so can't begin to guess. I just want my stuff to work - now! So far we have not had any problems like that. Yay! We have a 55" screen t.v. and I am surprised how clear the video's I watch are! Fantastic!!!! I still have not watched a t.v. show on it, but I don't foresee a problem. I am very impressed at something so small and simple to hook up working so well!

I love the chromecast. I just don't like I can't seem to stream in 720 and have to bump it down to 480 in order to get smooth playback on my tv. I have super fast internet so I'm not sure what is work. I guess I will have to play around with it.

If you have a regular TV, one which is not SMART or cannot access apps via the internet this is a good accessory. I am able to use both my iPhone as well as an Android phone as a controller. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't own a SMART TV or uses a monitor to access the internet.

I've brought two Chromecasts so far one for business and one for home usage. After the purchase I couldn't be any happier, setup was a breeze and its as quick as can be for a $35 device. I primarily use it for Youtube videos and ESPN both of which work amazingly. Streaming content from a web browser is also a breeze but you would need a pretty decent computer in order to stream a tab (cast a tab) without seeing any lag. I usually cast a tab with a desktop (4gb RAM, Intel Pentium 2.0 GHz) and it casts pretty well but sometimes when I try to do something else it lags during video playback. Overall A+ device, and its only getting better with updates from Google.

This is by far one of the best purchases I have made to use with my TV. If you have a spare HDMI port this is the way to go. I can stream youtube, HBO Go, Netflix, and more right from my phone straight to the TV. Now thats amazing but what really makes this product even more worth while is the fact you can still utilize your phone to send texts, read emails, surf the internet and it does NOT stop the streaming. The only way it will stop if its disconnected, you close out the app(netflix, hbo go, etc..) or take a phone call. Overall I recommend this as its so light weight and portable you can use it anywhere that has a TV with HDMI and internet connection.

This device has the same quality of any other hardware that has a Google logo on it. Simplistic quality. With a very active development cycle, more applications are being added every day to work on the Chromecast. This is the 3rd Chromecast in my home, and probably looking to purchase a 4th!

The premise of what the Chromcast is for is amazing. To be able to cast whatever you are watching on your tablet, phone, etc. directly to your TV screen is something we all would love. YouTube, Netflix, Amazon...the possible cast platforms are nearly endless - that is unless you have an Apple device. Unfortunately it wasn't until after our purchase that we realized the abilities of the Chromecast are very minimal when it comes to an Apple device. Luckily we are a multi bran family and have several android devices as well. If it weren't for the inability to work fully with my Apple products I would have definitely given the Chromecast 5 Stars...perhaps soon I will be bale to :)

My daughter has an older TV but wanted a device to do more streaming. Our friends raved about the inexpensive Chromecast device. It works well but we had to buy a converter due to no HDMI port. Now it works well but at a much higher cost.

It will work as advertised once installation completed successfully. But I am just going to warn people who aren't tech savy that the installation can be a bit intimidating because this ChromeCast is NOT compatible with every router out there . I got Linksys Router and the installation bogged down and it requires user to turn off "Access Point" on the router setting... imagine if you don't know what an access point is... If you have an iPhone or iPad, get the Apple TV ($89), no complicate set up is required and it works flawlessly with Apple production. If you have an Android device, then this might be something you want to tackle... but watch out for router incompatibility.

For the price, a great little device if you have Netflix and don't have a Smart TV. Setup takes less than 5 minutes. Download the Google App to ipad, android device or use Google Chrome browser on a PC/laptop. You can wirelessly stream anything from the Chrome browser to your TV. I bought two. .

Before I used a 15 feet HDMI cable but now I use this. This is best for streaming internet, online videos or showing your screen/desktop to the TV. You have full control of the Chrome browser not like other device which can stream to the TV but very limited. This has option to stream your whole screen or just the video on web, I can mute the sound on the laptop & still has sound on the TV. I have not used this streaming from my tab or phone though. But remember, your Chrome browser must be running to use it & this is not a replacement to really put your laptop screen on the TV, I tried it on doing a document, I can see it on the TV but I can't see the mouse pointer.

I've used it a few times. It has its days. Sometimes I can play a movie of off my phone and watch it fully but other times it either disconnects by itself or gives me a hard time to reconnect.

This is the perfect companion for a phone or tablet. It turns a regular TV into a Smart TV, saving yourself from all the bloatware and sloppiness of the Smart TVs. There's no reason to even think about it, because this device literally pays for itself. The apps that support Chromecast is growing each day, but don't be mistaken. You need to have a subscription to the services in order to stream content to the Chromecast. It is an awesome device it really gives great picture especially with an android phone as for iPhone it's kind of hard to use because there's very few apps that correspond with chromecast
