Excellent value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromecast is neat for several reasons, including its small size, plugs directly into an available hdmi port on tv or display, can be powered from an available USB port on the tv or the included power supply. When using iOS device, an icon appears in the window of an app capable of streaming to the Chromecast. For complete streaming capability the Apple TV is still the better choice, but at a third of the cost, the Chromecast is an excellent choice and is probably even more compatible with android devices.

Love the Chromecast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I love all google products and usually stick with them due to their reliability. With that said, the Chromecast did not disappoint. I stream so many things straight from my phone. The set up is pretty easy. I did need to read the directions. I also really like being able to stream videos straight from my browser. You do need to install Google Cast on your browser, but then you are good to go. I am even able to cast saved videos from my computer or flash drive. It's been the best money spent! I don't see a need for the more expensive adapters. Great product!

Great streaming stick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a gift for a friend and she loved it! Said it was easy to setup with a smartphone, has a wide variety of apps to use, and does not drain the phone battery much when in use. Main uses are for Netflix and WWE Network, as well as Amazon prime instant video. In my own opinion, I think the chromecast is better for people who use android devices, although it works with iOS devices as well, but if you use apple products, you may want to try Apple tv(costs more). Overall, chromecast is a neat little streaming stick that is priced to sell and performs well.

love it

They Upped Their Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now that you can screen cast everything from your Android device Chromecast became the best and best value streaming device on the market. We had 2 Roku's and 1 Chromecast already and were looking to another device to our lineup. With the ability for anyone to stream from their personal device and the extreme markdown over Black Friday, Chromecast was a no brainer. It's way so simple to install and setup. Our kids are even able to cast to it when they want to show us they've done or founds on their tablets. If I had any more TV's with HDMI hook ups, I'd buy another one.

Easy Setup But
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchase the Chromecast so that went I stay at timeshares, I can use this device to stream my movies rather than carry a stack of DVDs and it weighs less than Apple TV. I found the Chromecast very easy to set up and it worked easily using an HDMI splitter. My "but" comes in with trying the stream from iTunes. In order to stream from iTunes you need to first convert the movies or videos that you own. If your movies are on Flixster or similar site, streaming is a snap.

Great For Streaming Content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The chrome cast is really great. I own a bunch of them and they really come in handy if you stream a lot of content through nextflix or hbo go etc. or if you just like to watch youtube videos. It works pretty seamlessly with either iOS devices or android and setup is pretty easy too. They just added customization too so you can see weather and news stories etc. All in all its great for what it does streaming content to your tv, but it definitely has the potential to grow.

Hoping to cut the cable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm hoping to be able to give cable the boot! I am not tech savy in the least but I was able to easily set this up by myself. It streams Netflix and Hulu right from my phone. My daughter has had this for some time and likes it, it's so reasonably priced I gave it a try. It's also small and portable so I can take it with me or use it on another tv. I'm not sure if Apple TV or Roku have more features than this does, but for the price and convenience I think this is a deal. Now if I could just figure out how to get HGTV ... Cable you'd be history

This item is a godsend
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never cared about devices needed to watch Netflix or videos on your TV since I had a PS3 that can do that. My sister, however, bought an Xbox360. You cannot stream Netflix using an Xbox360 unless you pay for an account (I'm not going to get into how dumb that is) To prevent them from having to hover around a computer to stream movies, I found this neat little gadget. I didn't think much about the device at first, but because the price was easily affordable I went and bought one. Right out of the box, all you do is: 1)Plug HDMI cable into Chromecast device and your TV's HDMI port 2)Plug the power cable into Chromcast device and power strip (or wall) 3)Go onto Chrome on your PC, and visit https://cast.google.com/chromecast/setup 4)Follow steps provided on the site Then your done, and anyone can send a video to play on the TV. Just start the Youtube or Netflix show and click the button to start streaming it to the TV. That's one of my gripes, I couldn't find a way to password it so some wise guy doesn't just send unwarranted videos to the TV. The other thing is that the power cable is a bit short, thank god there was a power strip right next to the TV. Other than that, it's easy to setup and pretty cheap. I would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to buy a cable to run to their computer to stream on their TV or have the misfortune of owning an Xbox360.

Excellent for what its currently capable of doing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this little nifty google device from BB. Its a great little piece of hardware that was very easy to setup. It works well with Netflix, HuluPlus and Youtube currently. I am really impressed with the picture quality it renders and flawlessly. The biggest drawback of this device is that it is limited to just 3 apps right now. Youtube, HuluPlus and Netflix. Google has and excellent device on hand and they could be the market leader of living room entertainment by opening the SDK to the developers. More apps is what this device needs. Still an excellent, inexpensive little device to throw movies on the big screen.

Good entry into smart TV devices.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product for someone looking for a smart TV solution who doesn't have a smart TV device already. If you already own a roku box or an apple TV or even an internet connected DVD player or TV, this device won't do anything new. At least not at the moment, but there is potential for developers to find novel ways to use this device. The installation was a breeze, youtube videos worked out of the box. And using the chrome extension I was able to stream content from the internet, including hulu and amazon video on demand content. This is not the best solution if you are planning to use it to stream a lot of content stored locally, or if you are planning to use it as a set top box, since you will always need either, your phone or your computer to get it working. Even then the phone is only able to stream netflix, yotube and google play content. If you are in the apple ecosystem the Apple TV offers a better experience, but the device is considerably more expensive. This is a good product for the price and hopefully it will develop into an even better product in the future as more services become available.

Does what it claims well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does what you can basically already do with your Wii,Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, etc* BUT MUCH SIMPLER No need to turn anything on mess through menus or whatever. Just change to the input your Chromecast is set on, and use your cellphone or computer and that's it. load up Netflix on cell, and just hit Chromecast button and it's the same exact controls you are used to. no need to fumble with a controller, your phone is always with you! Need to show a website or a video? just do tab streaming from your computer! It works, works well, and is CHEAP.

Great product at a great price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a Wi-Di or Miracast type device for mirroring your gadget's screen through a direct wifi connection, this is not what you are looking for. This device requires a connection to the internet , and it basically streams content from compatible apps like Netflix, Hulu +, Vudu, Google Play, and a few more directly from the internet to your TV and gives you a control GUI on your device. The list of app's support is growing everyday and this product performs very well for most people. It also works in a limited capacity with an app called All Cast to send personal videos and music stored on your device, but it is an early release of software. You may get mixed results depending on what device you have and what version of Android it is running. Overall it has worked great for what I use it for, and it's versatility will grow as more apps incorporate support for it. At $30 or under you can't beat the price. If your tv has HDMI & USB (to power it , or it does come with a plug adapter), you can make a dumb tv smart enough to watch netflix and other streaming services.

Great streaming device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a super handy tool, especially for the "cord cutters" out there. I watch everything from HBOgo, Netflix, and Hulu through this from my iPhone or iPad, and the only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is the sometimes slow connectivity time. It's definitely not enough to discourage me from using it or recommending it, but at times when you want to watch that game from ESPN 3 that you only have from the app, connecting quickly is a big deal!

Easy and straight forward installation & use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was debating between this, the Roku stick and Amazon stick and this one won out, main reason price and compatibility. My LG G3 has miracast built in to the OS and with the chromecast app I can do screen mirroring with little to no lag! Since most of my newer movies have digital downloads and pretty much all of the players for them (Disney, Flixter, Amazon, Google Play, etc...) are chromecast compatible I don't really "need" a blu-ray player on my bedroom tv. plus catching this on sale for $10 less than normal was a big incentive!

The best thing to happen to your TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Forget HDMI cables, forget buying an additional bluetooth keyboard because your laptop is wired to the TV and too far to reach.... buy Google Chromecast! This is my second purchase within the year!!! I have one for the family room and 1 in my bedroom. Simply plug it into your TV, connect it to your wi-fi and start 'chrome'casting from your laptop/tablet/phone directly to your TV. Now its so simple to watch movies, youtube etc directly on my the big screen! You can even browse your webpages from Google Chrome on your TV!

Easy to use, works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromecast is surprisingly easy to setup and use, but I think it's partly a function of being a regular Chrome browser user. I think that people who have only the pre-installed browsers may find the requirement for Chrome annoying. Once setup, the casting icon will broadcast anything on my Droid phone or my computer with no real issues. The one downside is that it does not work natively with our Amazon Fire. But that is a minor inconvenience for me.

perfect for Netflix :)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this because I don't have cable and I wanted to be able to watch netflix on my tv. I didn't have much of an expectation past that but I found it was really convenient to use with my smartphone (Samsung galaxy s5). It also works with my other apps like Songza and youtube to make my tv pretty lively :). And even when it's not playing my stuff the random wallpaper makes my tv look like a nice center piece with art. :) not bad for the price. Better than an Xbox live membership. (If only using netflix and streaming tv)
