If you haven't bought a Chromecast, you should......Now.......I agree with what most folks say about Chromecast. It's easy to set up, very portable, and you can do LOTS of things with such an affordable device. But there are a couple of things that don't get mentioned very often that folks should hear more about. The first is the claim that you can cast chrome tabs to your TV (which is only half true). This is a very powerful feature because it allows you to stream any video you can watch online, and watch it on your TV. What nobody mentions, though, is that this feature is NOT available on mobile versions of Chrome (so you can't do this with your tablet or phone). I can't understand why Google didn't make this more compatible with android devices (like their own Nexus devices), but they didn't. For what's worth, rumor is that casting chrome tabs from mobile devices will be supported in the next version of Android (5.0). And don't worry, you can still cast netflix, hulu, Youtube, pandora, Google Play movies, and local videos and photos from your mobile device. This lack of mobile tab casting will only really affect you if you watch a lot of movies on Vudu or Amazon Instant, or other websites that stream video (like PBS online). The other thing that's not often mentioned is that the chromecast needs to be plugged into a power source, either a standard electrical outlet, or an empty USB port on your TV. It's not a huge deal, but does affect the portability of chromecast if, like me, you don't have an open USB port on your TV, so it's plugged into that difficult to reach and almost completely filled power strip that lives behind everyone's TV. But those two issues are minor. This is a fantastic device that is well worth the money. Sure, it doesn't support as many apps as Roku or Smart Tv's, Blu Rays, etc. But it gets you everything you probably need, and its user interface is extremely easy to use. If you have the ability to cast from a laptop, then the chromecast will do everything those other devices do and more.

I used it a couple times to stream some YouTube videos took a little time to load but ran well with no lag which I was worried about because I have dsl. I'm anxious to see how it does with tv shows and movies. .

This is a no brainer for anyone with a smart phone or tablet. Being able to cast your favorite apps with a press of a button is awesome plus the Chromecast is portable so you can take it with you.

Chromecast works great at streaming movies and TV shows from my laptop. Lets me catch up on missed episodes that are available for streaming. Use it on my TV in the bedroom that doesn't have wifi.

This product is great. I had a little difficulty setting the Chromecast up, but that was not the devices fault. My wife & I were in a resort and wanted to watch a Movie that I had bought on my Tablet. The resort had a great large screen TV with the HDMI input, but terrible Internet. Fortunately,I have a genius son who does multi-platform programing and he came up with a work around which may help others. Scott had me start up the Hot Spot on my Sprint LG G3. The device & my tablet immediately connected and we watched the movie fine. unfortunately some Hotels & resorts have weak internet service and/or configure their routers to block streaming devices. In some cases you have to pay extra for VPN service, even at high end hotels. In these cases I bring my own travel router and the Cell Phone hotspot work around gets the job done in all situations I have faced so far.

works great as advertised. sending video from chrome browser on chromebook is very jittery (but it is advertised as beta). A new/updated version came out shortly after I bought this with. Supposedly faster.

It's great to stream the popular shows on and quick. Can connect to any hdmi port easily. Has a feature called cast screen to show your phone on the TV but it's in beta version. Does not work with certain versions on smart phones. Overall very satisfied

I have purchased the chromecast and I love the idea of it but, I just wish it would do a little more like support playing content that you downloaded to your device. But overall it's worth the low price of $30.

I was looking for a way to use my TV in my home office as a monitor when I'm on my computer. I found the Chomecast with some help from a salesperson at BestBuy. At first after installing it as instructed, I couldn't achieve what my goal was, even thought of returning it until I realized I had missed a final set as to initiate the signal from my computer. Now, the only thing I really see this accomplishes, is that I can stream online videos onto my TV, i.e. YouTube. As far as for taking what is on my laptop screen (work files) to the TV as a giant monitor, I have yet to figure out.

great option for transforming any flat pane TV with an HDMI port into a smart TV... plug this in, set up connection to your WiFi, and your TV can play any video or movie you can see on your tablet or smartphone

It's surprising that this little device can do so much and perform so well. I plugged it in and within a minute I was watching movies and videos using my iPhone as a "remote". The video and audio quality is beyond belief. I highly recommend Chromecast.

Very cool. I was previously familiar with Roku, which was ingenious in its simplicity...but for some reason didn't include YouTube except in Roku's newest devices (I suspect this is because of an evil plot to force you to upgrade). Chromcast is awesome!

Got a Chromecast and had the little unit up and running a few minutes after getting it out of the packaging, so that was easy. The device is limited but its also cheap and reliable, works well for what it does.

I've never been blown away by something that costs so little as i have with this little device! it works like magic! recommend any one who's not tried casting screens to simply buy this if they want a risk free attempt into this amazing technology.

Love my chromecast and all the FREE apps that are buzzing around the internet. Its a breeze to install and setup. Best yet it's very portable and with the option to use a tablet, phone or computer this little gem is super flexible. Highly recommended.

It does take some basic technical knowledge to use but is well worth the features you can add to to any TV with an HDMI port. Of course you have to use Chrome on your computer and phone to "push" the content, but still very cool gadget for the money.

As easy as pick, pay, go home and connect. Simple to use. Among all the devices out there of the same type, meaning Roku, Apple TV and Chromecast, this is the cheapest alternative and it just works. Easy.

Super easy. Totally addicting. Why do I have cable when I have this?!? Great having the beautiful pictures on my big flat screen instead of a black square in the room. Music, movies, tv shows I can't wait until people start making more apps to use on this!

I will be the first to admit I was a bit hesitant to get the Chromecast. I have wanted it for a while to use to stream my wrestling from my comp but I thought from what I heard it would be inconveniencing when it came to managing it. When I got it home I was surprised at how great it works! Note: there is a big update when you first set up, but it is well worth it. I actually stream even better off my phone (Galaxy Note 3) than my comp which is nice and even when I use my phone it doesn't take my phone off sleep. I can still do whatever I want while it's playing. They recently also added "Cast Screen" which is awesome as long as you have good wifi ( I have Frontier so not so much) but I am still able to mirror pretty much anything off my phone, tablets, etc. now which is a great selling point since I don't have a smart tv. This is well worth the 35 bucks!

Love being able to play youtube videos, netflix, etc. from my phone or tablet right on my tv!! Had a timeout connection error when I first installed it but read that rebooting it on your phone/tablet, etc. will help and it did, now I have no problems.
