It works with my smart phone and my tablet. Streams movies from apps in clear HD. It also mirrors phone and tablet to screen. I have other more expensIve devices and find that this works as well if not better. I really am impressed with this device.

Its easy to setup on some networks. Tried it with hotel WiFi but (apparently) it doesn't work if hotel has splash screen. Once it gets going its easy to do and pretty responsive with Google apps and Netflix. Plus they're going for less than $25 now.

easy to use and set up but is falling behind. requires another device to send info to the tv and control it still. the Amazon firetv stick is a stand alone item with more features in the same price range.

There are 2 real choices in streaming, Chromecast and Roku. The chromecast uses a tablet or smartphone as the remote and is usually less than $35. The Roku 3 has a really nice remote but is $99. I have both. They are both great at their price point.

The biggest advantage to this product is the fact that your phone is the remote. I can't stand having more remotes in the house. It's so quick and easy? I use this and not my smart tv apps anymore. Why? Its that much faster and easier to use. As far as installation, product is a simple dongle. Plug it in and go. The only thing is the lack of apps is very annoying. That said, the new beta chromecast for the app, allows you to cast your screen from the phone!! Making your tv your computer monitor essentially. So you can do and see anything on the big screen anyway now.

I have easily streamed content from my smartphone, Android tablet, and from my Windows laptop. Works great. Some content I did have some problems with it not liking higher resolutions though from my laptop.

Google chrome works better than I expected. No lag and the quality of the picture is fantastic. I used it with my phone and either surfing the web or playing games on my Tv . Nice real Nice..

I love our Chromecast. We have a smart TV in our basement, but an older one upstairs. With the Chromecast, we basically have two smart tvs and can bypass having to use the apps on our Blueray player (which is so much slower than the Chromecast).

We chose Google Chromecast to access Netflix on a secondary TV. Setup was simple and we were online in short order. Based on my research prior to purchase, Chromecast met our expectations.

The Chromecast is a great device, it allows you to stream from any tab on your Chrome browser on your computer. It also allows you to stream YouTube videos directly to your TV, the best thing is that you can browse for the video from any device and then "cast" it to your Chromecast. I've got the device plugged directly to my TV using the HDMI port. I would definitely recommend this as the number of applications on it is constantly increasing, you can also use NetFlix HBO, and other channels.

I opted for the older mode as I have have several and never had an issue with the other ones. Works just fine for me, hulu Netflix you tube or what ever I'm trying to cast. If the get wonky just do a reboot from the app and your good to go.

I love this device. We can cast video to it from any of the 3 smart phones in the house as well as the Windows desktops, Android tablets and Windows laptops. The price can't be beat. Google often gives free content and credit just for owning one.

This little device is not a necessity, but so handy. My brother is a cellphone junkie (music videos etc). With this device instead of me crossing my eyes to see a video, I can cast it to my television!

I use chromecast for a TV in my bedroom mainly because there is no cable outlet and I don't want to pull a cable across room. So it seems cast intenet video from laptop to TV is a good alternative, I mostly watch videos on internet anyway. The installation was simple. To make it work on laptop, I also installed Chrome browser, then installed chrome extend, chromecast does not support other browser types. Once I clicked the cast tab on Chrome browser, I am able to watch anything showing in browser on TV. After watching videos for a while, chromecast apparently slows down, sometimes jam and requires reboot. I know it's a problem with chromecast because the video showing in laptop (which never stops during the whole TV cast process) works perfectly all the time. So I figure this is either some kind of compatibility issue or the internal memory in this little device is not large enough. By the way, Chrome browser is not supported for ipad or other pad device. If you watch videos from websites other than Youtube, Netflix, etc(there is a dozen APP selections available for tabular device), then there is a good chance you won't be able to use chromecast when traveling overseas, because youtube could be blocked in some part of the world. So if Chrome browser with cast extention don't support tabular device, then these devices are basically useless if you want to cast realtime financial news on TV monitor. The device is innovative, but requires more work.

This is a fun device that allows me to watch streamed movies on TV. The only problem was in trying to get my TV's audio to work. We figured it out and it just takes a little adjustment with TV settings. It definitely is worth the small cost in money.

Overall it's a sleek experience for those applications which have integrated support. Screen casting is clunky. And if you are on an enterprise network (like most universities) this will NOT work unless you set up a hard-wired repeater (range extender). This creates a new network to connect the chrome cast to - but generally this is against policy, and will cost around $60. I find that it was worth it, you decide for yourself. This problem is not limited to the chrome cast however, most streaming devices that access wifi will have this issue on enterprise networks.
