Perfect device for streaming everything
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got rid of my satellite provider and upgraded my Internet. I got this Chromecast so I could just stream shows. I am using hulu, Netflix and comcast app to stream shows and movies. I don't miss satellite TV at all - this device works perfectly. I can also stream a screen shot of my cell phone onto my television and can play games on my phone on the big screen. Great little product - my son has the Apple TV - Chromecast does everything that his does at a fraction of the cost.

Great gift idea
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An inexpensive alternative to pricier smart boxes. Easy setup, allows easy casting of phone/tablet/computer content from chromecast apps. Android friendly, semi-Mac friendly. I have an older mac laptop (first generation Macbook Pro) which is no longer compatible with Google Chrome browser, so unable to stream content from computer. Check apps and system requirements of your devices, but otherwise a solid product.

Cheap and great entertainment device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Chromecast is a great device for watching Youtube and Netflix. Easy to set up and works with my android phone flawlessly (also works with Apple devices). You do need a home internet connection to make it work but once you set it up you can start watching immediately. The video support works on the app side and does not work with every video or audio app on your devices, though there are many apps that support it. The Chromecast is a cheap way to get youtube and netflix on your HDMI TV.

This Product is Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. You take it out of the box, plug it into the HDMI port, sync with your WIFI, download the application of your choice(For me it is HBO Go or Netflix,)and start watching. I used to use my laptop for Netflix, which is such a pain. I would have to plug it into my HDMI port, log into Netflix, click play, then run back to my bed to watch it. Now I literally can do all of it without moving. For the money, this device is well worth it.

Google Chromecast... What can't you do with it?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Chromecast is a great media streaming device that allows you to mirror items from your tablet, phone or computer with ease. Some programs such as Netflix, Google Music, or YouTube allow you to directly stream. For $35, you cant ask for else! Google and app developers are consistently developing new ways to use this brilliant device. The device also works with Apple's IOS for iPad and iPhones. The only requirements for PC or Mac is the usage of the Chrome Browser.

Just What I Was Looking For
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this device primarily so I could subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, etc in order to supplement my meager yet super expensive cable offerings. I am not a gadget minded person but this was easy to install (simply plug it into your USB slot) and set up. I like that I can move it from television set to television set depending on where I want to watch TV. Remember though that this is only for HDMI ready sets. That being said, it does exactly what I hoped it would do. The quality of the streaming is great; movies flow like they're supposed to. Downloading and subscribing to the app I wanted (Netflix, Hulu, etc) was all I needed to do after plugging in. You can control the device from a tablet, smart phone or computer. And the price is unbeatable. I'm going to get another device so I don't have to keep moving the device from set to set. It's much cheaper than scrapping my current sets for newer models that are internet ready. I can't speak to quality or compatibility for all TVs and that's why I just rated it good and not excellent. I've only had the device for about a month and that's not enough time to attest to its quality.

does what it's supposed to do.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.google chromecast is a cool idea... whats not to love about it. instantly (almost) watch what's on your phone, tablet, laptop, etc...right on your tv. it's super easy to set up (anybody can do it). it does have a little bit of a lag time for the first connection each time..but then streams seamlessly. only drawback is with all the hdmi things available these days...your tv runs out of hdmi inputs.

Play your movies and videos wirelessly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first chromecast I purchased was so easy to setup and use that I purchased additional televisions, friends and family too. Follow the instructions and the device is easy to setup and use. I placed a second one on the other tv so I could swap the cast to the other tv when I need to change rooms. Great bargain and I highly recommend it. Several apps work with the device such as Netflix and HBO GO. I only wish the TWC app had a chromecast option for all their On Demand content.

Google Chrome Cast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this device during Black Friday sale for $24 dollars. This item is awesome. On my iPad I can watch Hulu, Netflix, and few other applications. On my android device you can beam anything. So I can watch TV from any application on my android device, it does not have to be chrome cast compatible. This small inexpensive device will replace a smart TV. I have multiple TVs and I just plug it in and play. Note: this device does not work in hotels over wifi.

Works great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had heard of these for a couple of years but didn't think too much about what it could do. I finally picked up one to augment my over the air TV reception. It work great right out of the package. In addition, I moved it from my TV to my amplifier/receiver so that the sound would be broadcast through my home speakers. You can cast just about anything displayed in Chrome (or other browsers). There are also a few sites that are blocked from casting videos...

Streams movies wonderfully
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant about buying a streaming device, I'd tried streaming a few years ago and did not have good results. I was pleasantly surprised that the Chromcast was easy to set up and everything has been streaming seamlessly. I've mirrored videos from my computer, tablet and phone without a problem However, I've had trouble casting from my Samsung 8 Tablet, but not from my Samsung phone. i've only had it a week, but I'm very happy with the purchase.

Great alternative to a smart tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a tv a few years back that is still in perfect condition, but I was sick of using an HDMI cable to watch Netflix thought my laptop. The Chromecast option turned out to be well worth it! Easy to control and set up. Love that my phone is the remote and that I can still use my phone while using it as the remote. No picture/sound distortion. Only downside is buffering when your internet isn't fast enough (but that happens no matter the device).

Good initial product. A few steps left
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been eager to try a streaming dongle for a while. The Chromecast was the first one that I wanted to spring for, being that I am an Android fan. I picked this baby up and set it up immediately. As with most modern computer-oriented setups, the initialing process was pretty simple. Here comes the problem...the apps available for use to stream from your device to the Chromecast are plenty, but none for pulling movies to stream from your own library. Apparently buying the Chromecast is not enough. They want you to pay for other apps that will let you stream from your library...or you could just buy movies from Google apps. The one I ended up with was a cloud service that you pretty much have to upload into in order to stream effectively. To conclude my assessment, I like the technology but do not agree with the inability to watch the movies you have bought or downloaded onto your personal device.

Terrific option for television viewing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased Google Chrome cast after dropping my cable TV. Great idea. This little device allows me to view my Netflix movies and Hulu television shows without plugging in anywhere. Just fire up my laptop and there it is on any television set in any part of the house. The best part: one small payment replaces a big monthly payment. Can't get better than that.

Amazing full feature device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this mainly for fun, but it has come in handy a lot. Casting screens from computers is really easy and iPads work to with the app. My Moto E is sadly not a screen cast supported device, but maybe soon. I also got Netflix Streaming because this and the adult content is lacking but kids are in luck. YouTube works well and I stream music videos along with other things. So overall, its an amazing device, and better than its more expensive competition.

Great streaming device for the living room!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After getting a smart TV, I held off on purchasing a Chromecast or any streaming device since my smart TV could handle Netflix, Youtube, and Hulu, but once I picked up and started using a Chromecast, the "always on" nature of the Chromecast is the biggest positive. I don't have to wait for my smart TV to load up its interface, I just open up a video or application on my android smartphone and cast it to the screen. Very simple and very effective.

goodbye roku
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Chromecast looking for a replacement for my frustrating roku HD. I have found that replacement. The Chromecast is the pinnacle of simplicity. I use Netflix, YouTube and Plex and the performance on all of these platforms fat exceeds that I became accustom to. A nice side effect is one less remote on our nitestand. I will be purchasing another unit for my living room to have tighter control over what my children are watching also.

Easy installation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Chromecast easily connected to the HDMI port on my TV and I was streaming videos from my phone in less than 6 minutes! I love the ease of which I can stream TV series from Netflix - start the marathon! The kids love the device and now I am being forced to by another Chromecast as they have commandeered mine. Looks like I'm buying at least two more for their TV's!

No Risk Media Player!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works exactly as described and does exactly what it is supposed to do! I bought this on sale for $30 and it also came with a special offer of $20 in Google play credits! I essentially only paid $10 for this item but it works so seamlessly I would of been happy to spend $50! Setup was easy and "Chromecasting" onto my television was a breeze. I mainly use it with HBO Go and Slingbox. It workds better than I imagined. I definitely recommend.

Great streaming video
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Chromecast handles streaming vídeo from services like NetFlix very smoothly with a clear picture and no choppiness. Music streaming from services such a IHeartRadio also works well. Its Screencast capability (display of smart phone screen on TV, which I believe is still in beta test stage) works, but still leaves much to be desired. Screencast picture quality is sub standard, slow to transfer and blocky until the entire screen image eventually transfers. Not suitable for streaming any video content that is stored directly on the phone. Music sent to the TV via Screencast from files stored on the phone sounds good. I found it to be fairly simple to setup. It links in well with my Samsung flat panel TV via an HDMI port and my TV will automatically turn on via its AnyNet connection with the Chromecast when the device is activated. All of the above comments are related to testing the device using my Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD 64 GB smart phone. It is no longer at the pinnacle of the smart phone pack, but it is not a slouch either. Chromecast is definitely well worth the price for use with streaming services that are programmed to work directly with Chromecast. The only thing that kept me from rating it five stars is its poor Screencast capabilities. Would have given it 4.5 stars if this web site would have allowed it.
