The Chromecast Ulta 4K is an excellent device for casting to a smart television.
Please note: the Chromecast Ulta 4K may not be right for you if your TV's best resolution is 1080p HD; in that cast the Chromecast 3rd generation will fit the bill (I use both Chromecast devices).
The instructions are clear and the setup is minimal. However, please keep in mind, this Chromecast device is designed for 4K streaming and has a different power supply setup than the non-4k Chromecast devices: the Chromecast Ulta 4K uses an A/C power adapter connected to a micro SD cable. The power adapter plug has a connector for an ethernet cable used to connect the Ultra 4K to a router for fastest possible speeds.
So, be prepared to route cables to a power plug and router (if you choose ethernet over wireless).
Casting is setup through the Google Home app.
Once installed, the displayed image is sharp and clear.
During the two months I have used the Chromecast 4K player, I have had no issues.
I recommend the Chromecast Ultra 4K player for those who have a television capable of displaying the 4K image.

I bought this to replace my first gen Chromecast since I now have a 4k TV. Although there is not a massive amount of 4k media available, the content that does exist (mainly Netflix and Youtube) looks amazing. Also this unit is much faster than my old unit so even if you are not doing a lot of 4k streaming it is worth considering for the performance boost alone.

I am a long time chromecast user. I was hesitant at first to pay twice the amount for something I already owned. I am glad I bought it! It is so much faster and does have the lag issues that the first gen has. It works great utilizing my 5ghz wifi. I would suggest not using the 5ghz if the chromecast is not in the same room as it will get a weaker signal.

For the sale price on Black Friday, you can't beat the price and what the Ultra model has to offer. Except for the unknown processor specs that no one seems to know about, the other specs speak for itself, 4K, HDR, wifi, ethernet, etc. It's sure to please anyone who watches any amount of tv. I would recommend the Ultra to anyone.

I've had both of the most recent iterations of the Chromecast. They are both faster than the original but this one is noticeable faster than either of the 1080P versions. I bought it for the 4k but its much quicker too!

I picked this up on a black friday deal for my new 4k/HDR tv. Looking foward to casting 4k content. Primary reason for purchase is to get around the limitation PS Vue has where you can only stream from one PS3 or PS4 at a time. With this, my family can cast content in the family room from PS Vue mobile app while I use the other PS4.

I really like the Google - Chromecast Ultra. The picture is excellent, and it is very easy to use. This little box, will make any TV old or new, a smart TV. I like being able to cast video from my phone to the TV. I would buy the Google Chrome cast Ultra again.

I got the original chromecast back in 2015. I kept it because it was easy enough to stream stuff from the computer and my phone. My parents were able to stream stuff too. So its very user friendly. When a 4k version came out, it was an east upgrade choice.

I already owned a Google Chromecast, but I now have a 4K TV so I wanted to the Chromecast to be able to handle 4K.
It works perfectly. My Sony TV has Android TV as its OS, so the TV itself is basically a chromecast. However, the youtube app buffered non-stop, even on HD videos. 4K videos were impossible. It seemed to only be youtube. VUDU and Netflix are all fine, but youtube seems to have a problem.
I got the Chromecast Ultra kind of as an experiment. It is attached to the TV so it is the same distance to my router. There is an Android app (Fast Speed Test for Chromecast) that will tell you the speed your Chromecast gets, and both the Sony Android TV and the Chromecast Ultra are getting 50+ Mbps, so plenty fast for 4K.
The Chromecast Ultra plays 4K 60fps videos perfectly. Smooth and clear. The functionality of the Chromecast has always been good, and that hasn't changed. Using your phone to pick videos is very handy.
The one thing I don't like is the power cord. Previous Chromecasts just had a micro USB power. You could plug it into your TVs USB port, so you didn't need to have another power cord hanging off the back of your TV. I assume the additional processing power needed for 4K videos required more power. One advantage is the power cord now has an ethernet port in it. So if you have ethernet available near your TV you can use it rather than WiFi if you WiFi is too slow.

I have both the regular Chromecast and now the Ultra. I like them both. I like that the Ultra supports Ethernet and also supports better HD resolutions. Easy to set up and use. I have had no issues with using to to cast from my PC or my phone.

Have the normal chromecast for my bedroom tv and was very happy with it so when I saw a 4k version I had to get it. Hooked it up easily to my living room 4k set and have been very happy with the performance and my viewing out there ever since.

I've had a Chromecast ever since the first generation came out. I've been wanting to get this one since it came out, but I was always hesitant because of the steep price point ($69). I knew it would be worth it since it's the 4K version... but still. I finally ended up getting one around the Thanksgiving specials for $49! Not bad! Well... I love it and it just works. It's fast, it's solid and everything that I stream that's 4K looks great. I'd definitely recommend getting this... but maybe wait until it goes on sale.

We've used the first generation Chromecast for quite some time (three of them), and finally got a 4k TV, so we bought the Chromecast Ultra. Excellent picture quality, and I like that we can connect via Ethernet cable in addition to WiFi.

Connects to TV with ease and has built in Ethernet port. Use this primarily in a conference room for employees to connect to for streaming purposes during conference. Has multiple options for streaming, entire desktop, screen or tab.
Less experienced users would find this easy to use once they have Chrome and know how to Cast using chrome. Also, used this personally to stream Google Services like YouTube TV which is an amazing service.
Cons: No remote, have to use your phone or computer to control.

I've been wanting a Chromecast for a while. Decided on the ultra. Don't have a 4k TV yet, but want to futureproof. :) Easy to use and looks great. I plugged it straight into my stereo HDMI to output to my stereo and the TV.

This is a great device but only if you have a 4K screen with a sound system. It is about 40 bucks more expensive than the normal Chromecast, so if you don't care about 4K, probably go with that one. Otherwise this is a powerhouse when it comes to streaming and resolution

This is a good upgrade on the standard Chromecast which is already a great product. Runs as smoothly as my Amazon Fire TV (installed in another room) and outputs fantastic HDR 4K quality content. Highly satisfied.

I have used Google Chromecasts for years and I love them all. This one is the 4K version and it is perfect, image is clear and I have not experimented any issues at all ever. The device looks good, it’s small, connecting cable is long a pity to reach the power supply and it has a magnet in the back that keeps it tidy. I mean, the device goes in the back of the TV anyhow but they sure thought of everything when designing this one.
I have mine connected to the back of the surround sound system that connects to my TV and it works like a charm.
To connect the device is super easy as it walks you step by step using the google app and the promps on the TV as you set it up. One of my favorites things about this device is that when the device is on standby mode it displays pictures and small videos of amazing beautiful places all over the world and it updates pics and its OS weekly.
If you need something simple to cast TV shows, DitecTV Now, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube videos and other simple tasks, this I your device for the right price.

The original Chromecast was a game-changer! But if you are like me, you have an upgraded router in your home that is AC, broadcasting at 5G speeds.
The original Chromecast does not work on 5G and does not support 4K video, so the 2 MAJOR features that you likely want are only supported on the Chromecast Ultra 4K Streaming Media Player.
Not only is this baby faster, but you will also notice that it upscales to 4K MUCH FASTER (think about how fuzzy something looks on the screen for the first few moments of video), so fast in some cases that you don't even see the fuzzy screen at all!!
This item is also very portable. I even have one I keep in my backpack for when we travel. I will plug this into the TV in the hotel room and then setup a 5G hotspot using my Windows 10 Samsung Galaxy Book and the next thing you know..... all my content is right there on the hotel TV!!!
More and more apps are supporting Chromecast or Screen Mirroring, so its easy to get your own personal content from apps on your phone like ESPN or CBS Sports, so you never miss a game. Finally, if you still have an old TV in your home that is not a "smart TV", all you need to do is plug this into the HDMI port and the USB port, and your troubles are over!
I struggled with whether this is worth the price difference from the original Chromecast, but once I saw the difference, I can honestly say that it is worth it. Don't forget, they usually have a great Black Friday deal on these at BestBuy, so that will be a great time to pick a few up!!
I hope this helps. Enjoy your new 5G 4K!!!
