The regular Googlecast would buffer once in a while. Since I had already wired the room for ethernet this work perfectly! Future proof for 4K as well.

My Toshiba was getting Disney + but now will not....no matter what I do about installing the app, deleting the app, unplugging my tv and/or router. this device works like a charm. I plugged it it, followed the directions, and now I can "cast" my apps from my iPhone to the tv.....fabulous!! I got to see Hamilton!!! My grandchildren can now enjoy Disney + again. Moral of the story...there are more ways to skin a cat....and a 70 year old woman can learn how to do stuff if clear directions are given!!

Chromecast Ultra

No issues to report, and environmentally smart packaging. Great integration with a smart home setup. Faster than the first Chromecast, and has great graphics.

Not for everyone

With the Chromecast Ultra, you will see better quality videos (it's really dependent on your internet connection, but the Ethernet support really helps in my case), a faster response time to connecting, and I've noticed my phone's connection tends to drops less with this upgraded version. Cons: 4K content is lacking unless you are willing to pay extra. The regular chromecast is sufficient for most people. Note: The Ultra gives you the option to use an Ethernet cable or WiFi, but I would definitely recommend using an Ethernet cable unless you have very strong WiFi. The 4K content or HD content can take a lot of bandwidth.

Controls are simple, and Google Stadia connection can be displayed on the screen. Would benefit, however, from having a remote to control programming without having to use a smartphone.

It's a smart TV device that let's you "cast" content from your app to the TV but your phone doesn't do the heavy lifting of loading the content, the Chromecast does which is understandable. Have a nice day! It's WAY too expensive for the uptick in resolution and color output. The Chromecast with Google TV is much better value than this. The only reason to get it now is because of Stadia functionality which is already in the Chromecast with Google TV as of Fall 2021.
