    Only one flaw

First, this is a fantastic device. Literally the ONLY app that does not currently support ChromeOS/Android is Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud and a lot of games. BUT if you use Office 365, etc, etc, etc, then get a Chromebook that also runs Android. But what about THIS Chromebook? Yes, you can buy cheap plastic underpowered Chromebooks, depending on your needs. But I travel every week, and I'm a 225 pound middle aged klutz. I NEED T-6 Aluminum and Gorilla Glass. I have carpal tunnel and CAN'T use a mouse anymore. Even "touchscreen" Windows laptops NEED a mouse now and then. Not this baby, and it's FAST. Boots FAST. Shuts down FAST. Doesn't spend hours every week downloading and installing updates the way Windows does. I'm a professor, author, and podcaster (I use Audio Evolution for Android.) I USE this thing ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Like my Pixel XL phone, this Google built device runs CLEAN Android and ChromeOS, with no OEM "bloatware" and other shackles. This Core i5 machine runs circles around my Core i7 Windows laptop. Super high quality build and performance. ONE defect, and one reported all over the world--the left speaker on many units and warranty replacement units blows after a few weeks. And Google refuses to admit that they know it's a problem. I use headphones and UE Boom2 speakers anyway, so laptop speakers aren't a feature for me. But it's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. But ignore the haters. This is better than the Surface Pro AND iPad "Pro." Those devices STILL aren't really "Virtual Machines." THIS Pixelbook IS. And yes, it really folds over into a true tablet, although some people, especially women, may find it a little heavy for a tablet. And the edges and corners are a little sharp for holding in your lap. On the other hand, so is a Lamborghini. You could say it was designed by and for Sheldon Cooper. Let me put it another way--I've been using "computers" since 1976. My philosophy is, "The machine was made for man; not man for the machine." This is by far the best computing/Internet device since the 2005 iMac running Mac OS X 10.4. Is it cheap? No. Is it cheapo? Nope! PS: Because Chrome and Android run on top of Linux, you CAN tweak the Linux on this device to run just about anything. I don't do it, but apparently it's pretty easy to do.

I don't usually write reviews, but found others' reviews to be so helpful when making this decision on my own that I wanted to add my two cents! In January of 2018, after 7 years of using iPhones, I switched my 6S for the Pixel 2. I was so enamored by the phone and it's operating system that I actually started to get frustrated with MacOS when using my 2015 MacBook Air. I don't use my laptop for much - I don't game, I don't edit music or videos. I basically need 1) a web browser, 2) Microsoft Office (maybe), and 3) somewhere to store my photos and music. After switching to the Pixel 2, I switched all of my pictures from Photos to Google Photos, and all of my music from iTunes to Google Play Music. Although I'm not fond of change, and had been using Apple products since 2011, I found the transition to be very simple (if not somewhat time-consuming), and now actually prefer Google's version of Photos and Music. Because I had already done these transfers, all I had to do was log into the Pixelbook with my Gmail account and all of my stuff was accessible via apps and Google Drive! Ultimately, I decided I didn't need everything that came pre-loaded onto MacOS, and that I wanted a laptop that was lightweight, speedy, had only what I needed, and worked well with my phone. The Pixelbook exceeded my expectations. While it took me a week or so to get used to ChromeOS, I absolutely love the device. It's extremely portable, it's fast, and I haven't had a single moment where I felt it was lacking something. The keyboard is great, and I love having the touch screen as an option. I'm still not quite used to Office 365, but since Google Docs/Drive are available offline, I really haven't needed to use Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. While these applications are slightly limited in comparison to the full software, I have not felt as though there is anything I couldn't do. The Android apps are also not perfect, but I'm confident that Google is working to straighten out the kinks. My only negative thought is that the full retail price is way high. I do not think it should be the same price as a MacBook. I got the 256GB SSD on an in-store sale at Best Buy in July 2018 for $750.00, and it was worth every penny. I'd recommend setting a Google Alert and buying when the device is on sale! You won't be disappointed.

    Amazing product

Got rid of a Windows laptop, ipad, and galaxy Tab S3 and bought this Pixelbook. No regrets. This thing is amazing. The keyboard is lit and has an excellent feel. 256 gb lets me download plenty of movies on Google Movies to watch on trips. The screen is amazing and clear. And I love the thin profile when I have it folded as a laptop. The availability of Android apps makes it complete. I have Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and can use it for work if I wish. Best decision ever.

    Nice Product with Limited Capability

I've had the pixelbook for a few months now with the intent of this being used for school. Unfortunately Google and Microsoft aren't completely compatible. You can download Microsoft Office Apps, but they are a very limited version of the real thing. There's no way to use the internal storage on the device, it either routes you to save things on Google Drive or Microsoft cloud. I can't access either from work. All documents on created with Microsoft Office can be received and saved on the device, but can't be edited to it's full extent because you'll have to open it using the Office Apps or convert it into a Google Sheet, Doc, etc. Beyond the issues trying to get documents edited, it doesn't work very well with card readers either. This hinders the ability to check work email or sign documents from the device. Also this device is highly reliant on the internet, therefore if you don't have internet, most capabilities won't work. For me, this ended up being a huge waste of time and money, but now that I've invested in it I'll have to make due. I can confidently say this has discouraged me from future google devices until, at the very minimum, you can get the full version of Microsoft Office and not just the apps.

My Mac died so I needed to get something that took care of my everyday needs (email, word, excel...etc) and this thing works perfectly for it. It is very light and it is very fast! Highly recommend.

I was skeptical at first, but honestly this laptop does everything I need and more. I feel pretty confident with my purchase and it's going to help me at work. Grateful I bought it.

Be prepared to beta test (as usual)

Bluetooth randomly turns off. Instant Tethering with Pixel 2 stops working. Otherwise, this pricey laptop is usable. Pen is not worth the cost. Thick and not effectively used in apps. Circling things to search for gets old and could easily be replaced by a finger (it IS a touchscreen after all).
