I really like this laptop so far (3 weeks of use or so). It comes with Windows 10 S, but that is easy enough to upgrade to regular Windows 10 with some simple searches on the web. The price I paid couldn't have been beat. The machine is fast (SSD), has an i3 instead of a lesser Intel processor, and the battery life seems pretty good to me. Wish it had more than 4GB of RAM, but so far not a real issue (would be even faster in switching between tasks). Some folks complain the screen isn't that great, but I'm OK with it (and price was more important than a great screen for me). Wish it also had more than the 128GB SSD, but you just can't load it up with all sorts of stuff. I'm just using it for a trip to read email, so it will do fine. I've used about 1/2 of the available disk space so far. I would buy this again at a great price!!!!!

I bought this machine for a co-worker because he asked me for advise, and I must say even I was impressed by the speed of this thing to do simple tasks (me personally own a gaming laptop).
This laptop is perfect for those who want an office/school PC without being overpriced or too slow (i3 is the mínimum for me in the low but good end specs), the only ‘’drawback’’ is the 4 GB of RAM and for some the 128 SSD memory but those are fine for the price.

DON'T RETURN THIS LAPTOP JUST YET.....

This was a gift from my husband. I have been using a Pavillion dv7 (quite the workhorse, but time to be retired). i, too, was extremely disappointed with the Windows 10s; piece of garbage and too controlling. Packed it up to return to Best Buy the next day. Then i thought "why can't i install Windows 10 in this thing"? Being a new machine, i was not going to attempt it. So, off we went to Best Buy and talked with a geek tech. he agreed, this will be a short-lived model: 10s has too many complaints. they were going to charge me $50.00 to change it, so i said i will try my self and then went home. Googled how to install Windows 10 on this laptop, followed directions, and I set this up to my liking all because of the info sharing on Google. i love this machine now! i am not a techie by any means but if i can change the settings, a 2 year old can. The windows install is free. Also, you might want to remove the Tablet Mode, depending on your use of this laptop. SO HAPPY i had enough brains to think this threw before i returned it. see attached photo for easy instructions to switch out of Windows 10s.

I usually use a laptop when I'm travelling to access my company's system. Since it didn't require much processing power, I was using an AMD ATOM netbook for the last 8 years. But since then the Office 365 and Windows 10 became heavier and the Atom wasn't handling it very well. This HP laptop was at a great price. It is lightweight and very fast, with the 7th gen Core i3 and SSD drive that require less battery power. The thin bezels on the bright panel make it look more expensive than it really was. It's 14" with a 13" body. It is very aligned with the Microsoft Store because you get every drive update from there - even the BIOS update (wich is something important that not every regular user know how to do). I didn't check its upgrade capabilities but it will work well for me as it is. Couldn't be happier.

Bought as a replacement for an old laptop. I wanted a Solid State Drive, but didn't want to spend s lot of money. Bought this and it works great. It's very fast, and I am very pleased. Would definitely recommend for someone that just doesn't need something that is top of the line and expensive.

Best bang for the buck!

I've owned or used many desktops and laptops over the past 25 years of varying price and quality.
I must say, that this may be the best bang-for-buck laptop I've ever used.
The 14 inch screen is large enough see with my 63 year old eyes, and the machine is small and light enough to carry in a bag when traveling.
The keyboard is superb. I hate rattly, clicky-clacky computer keys, and this machine uses a soft-touch keyboard which is quiet, and easy to use intuitively.
Battery life is excellent. I often leave my machine on the coffee table without charging for several days with no problem; I use it a lot in 30-45 minute increments and the battery just seems to last and last.
Set-up was easy, and there doesn't seem to be an excessive amount of bloatware.
The speaker sound was the deciding factor for me in the purchase of this particular machine. The sound is OUTSTANDING! Clear and crisp for playing both videos and music. No need for my desktop speakers unless I'm going to play guitar or mandolin along with the music.
I have no clue how it works for gaming since I don't.
I CAN say that for photo editing, etc its more than adequate.
The machine is fast and doesn't heat up in my lap
Bottom Line: If you need a general purpose laptop that's big enough to see, small enough to carry, powerful enough for what most people use it for, with intuitive (and quiet) keyboard excellent battery life and is just very comfortable to live with, this may be the one for you.

This smaller laptop seems to meet my needs adequately. It doesn't have all the bells & whistles of many other more expensive laptops, but it does the job I was looking for. It's fast enough considering we have satellite internet, which isn't always the fastest anyway. Not sure I would purchase the Windows 10 S Mode again, but it does meet the needs in a less expensive laptop for what it's used for. We've owned a lot of HP products & have always been satisfied.

I've only had this for a week, but it looks great in terms of speed and ease. Looks like a good laptop for the price. I will be using it basically for writing and browsing the internet. There was a lot of MS bloatware though, that I got rid of. Other than that- looks good.

I got this in the past week and I love it!
It's got everything that I need for a great price.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new laptop & you're on a tight budget, like me.
The first thing I did, which a lot of other reviewers have recommended, was turn off the S Mode. That way I was able to download apps that I've used before that aren't from Microsoft. That is a MUST for me.

I had an almost 8 year old Toshiba laptop that was heading south FAST. Besides, I needed to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10. I don't do much on the computer---email, banking, shopping, surfing....nothing heavy duty. This unit is spectacular. The solid state drive is really SUPER fast. I did ditch the Win S home and instead went for the classic shell.....a great move because you can download much more than Home S allows.....Opera, Vivaldi, etc. I am extremely happy with this purchase

Bought it when it was on sell at Best Buy for $250. It has windows 10s installed when you buy it but I switched it to windows 10 and it’s good for the price. I’m a student and needed a laptop to be able to study on campus with. Works great and starts up very fast. Great for searching the web, listen to Spotify, YouTube, use programs like word and excel and all the basics. Needed a computer for my programming class and was the best decision I made!

I usually buy a laptop with a 15" screen but this one turned out to be just fine, good screen size and graphics. Only issue I have was the 4 GB memory but I've added 8GB so now it runs fast with 12 GB. This is my first solid state drive and will see how it holds up. Wish it had a bigger drive since updates seem to take up more space but I guess I can get a bigger one if needed. Overall not a bad little PC for my home use.

I bought this laptop for college and it does everything I need it to do. It’s fast and lightweight which is very good for taking it to and from class. The design is very sleek and modern. I’m glad I bought this laptop instead of a MacBook and saved hundreds. I would absolutely recommend this laptop for college students seeking a laptop for an affordable price.
