I have used the non-HP, off brand, cartridges in my HP LaserJet color printer, always trying to save money and get good quality. However, I find it's not worth the time, effort, money, waste to buy the HP-compatible replacements. HP cartridges are reliable. I have never had problems with them, whereas with the non-HP cartridges, they have failed in the middle of a printing job or the computer chip on the cartridge failed to be recognized on my HP printer.

The new HP print cartridge works perfectly. It’s the black color and it simply pops into the slot the old cartridge was in. The printer goes through some configuration actions and prints a test page.
