Nearly perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent performance to price ratio - bought it on sale for $599.99. Sleek looking laptop with clean and elegant design. 2 USB and 1 USB-C ports - wish it has a couple more USB ports Keyboard is very responsive with good tactile feedback. Multi-point touchpad is nice and responsive but a tad on the sensitive side.

Extremely user-friendly!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to operate (user friendly), has many functions that help to make me work more efficiently like touchscreen to swipe or go back on a screen... helps speed up my work. I also love to play music on this, great Harmon Kardon crisp sound. My favorite feature is that it is just as light as a MacBook.... so thin.

Excellent Capacity, Horrible Audio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a machine for photo-editing when I'm away from my studio and my desktop PC. This laptop is more than capable of running Adobe CC and other fairly intensive software. I work in Photoshop most of the time and I didn't miss the SSD speed at all. With 12gb of ram and the latest i5 processor, the difference was hardly noticeable. The real problem for me is the audio... which is really awful. Terrible. My music is extremely important, especially when I'm working. When I saw Bang & Olufsen below the screen, I expected great things and the deal was sealed. Big mistake. The built in audio enhancement cancels bass response, creating a hollow and metallic sound. My audio engineer friends call this "out of phase". You cannot disable this. You cannot substitute the audio driver (manufactured by Conexant) with the Generic High Definition Windows driver, which would more than likely fix the problem. As a point of reference, my headphones are the Bose Quiet Comfort series, and a pair of Sennheisers. There are a quite a number of posts in various forums about the HP/Bang Olufsen audio issue. Thus far, HP has offered no solution for this. This is a deal breaker for me.

Sleek, fast, and affordable with student deals
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is fast and has over enough storage for all of my school work. I never had problems with viruses and it lets me know how I can make the computer faster. Updates when I'm not using it so I don't have to wait for it to be done and the picture on this is perfect. I love the tablet mode also because it is great for reading text books.

Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this computer. It is not only beautiful with the LED light up keyboard but the fact that it doubles as a tablet/touch screen is great! It is also made of metal and seems to be constructed well. I am very pleased. Only thing that I didn't like is the lack of paperwork/manual that there was. As someone who had a 10yr old laptop prior to this one, I had no idea how to use this one and had to look up online what half the keys meant. Not to mention I probably still don't know about half the features this probably has! All in all though, very pleased with the purchase.

Price for quality is not as good as competitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off, I have built gaming laptops and desktops from ground up. Off the shelf, this product performs very well. However, when I purchased 2, one of them had a faulty keyboard. We had to return for replacement. This is the one-in-a-thousand defect. There were no issues with returning the item. I give BestBuy a 5 star for customer service, but this is not an evaluation of their costumer service and instead an evaluation of the product. Therefore, I will continue with the performance evaluation. The performance evaluation for price ratio is the only thing of concern. There is another laptop competitor, ASUS, that has exactly the same specifications. The only difference is that HP laptop does not have a USB-C port while the ASUS does. Additionally, the charging port is less secure than the ASUS competitor. I physically tested these before purchasing. I would have purchased the ASUS competitor, but since i purchased this at a deal that was less than the on-line advertised price of $700, I went with this device. I recommend purchasing Asus - Q504UA-BHI5T13 since it is cheaper at full price to full price comparison and is EXACTLY the same specifications and hardware components.

Let down from HP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer has been nothing but a headache for me since I purchased it in April 2016. I had to factory reset it at least two times due to compatibility issues. When the mother board crashed, HP did replace it but then it came back to me still not working because they didn't complete the rest of the updates causing the hard drive to stop responding. Its about to be sent out for the third time to be repaired. I really wish they would just keep it and refund me some of the money. As someone who has only ever used HP for laptops, this was a big disappointment.

gets the job done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This will be a slightly limited review, as I haven't really done too much with this laptop yet. First off, I will say this laptop feels solid. Definitely feels like it is well built and will last. So far, the most I have pushed this laptop is installing iTunes and re-downloading my music while web browsing and watching YouTube videos. While doing this, only 4gb of the RAM were being used. Fan was pretty quiet as well. The screen is nice to look at too! crystal clear! Only cons I can see so far are 1) no cd/dvd drive. I picked one up at bestbuy for $38. 2) from a full charge, after about an hour the battery drained to 60%. This was all while syncing my iphone, watching youtube vids, using Microsoft Word, and the brightness on 100%. This combination may have contributed to that. Haven't tried gaming on this, but from some games I have looked at, I don't think they would run too well due to the limited graphics capability. Can't speculate there though. I bought this laptop as a general use for now, with the possibility of going back to school. So far, it is meeting my expectations.

Good, but faulty battery

Excellent quality! Great features!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the quality of the architecture. This is a lot of computer for the price. The few user complaints I have read relate to the windows 10 installation. It may take much longer than you might expect. I recommend patience. It is worth the wait! Monitor size, back lit keyboard, transformable from laptop to tablet, quality sound from Bang and Olufsen speakers on board. Great system!

Has some Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a great laptop especially for a college student, however, it has some issues with the touchscreen part. I bought this laptop back in July before classes started, had it all ready to go for classes and then one day it started messing up. It was like something had started touching the screen by itself. Best Buy told me the touch receptors in the screen were likely messed up and allowed me to go back and exchange for a new one. I got the same laptop thinking it was just that one, since this new one didn't have any issues for about 3 months. Now it does the same thing, acting like something is touching the screen. It opens all kinds of applications, makes them smaller, zooms in and out on a page, just because of the touch receptors inside. I don't even use the touchscreen when using the laptop so it's not because there are fingerprints on the screen. Great computer but I would recommend getting one without touchscreen.

Worst Computer I Ever Owned -- Bought 2 Both BAD!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this ENVY computer to replace an aging HP Pavilion I have had since 2009. The first Envy was problematic right from day one. It crashed frequently, the Internet froze and the pages could not be closed. During restarts it took over 10 minutes for the computer to be back up and running only to display an error code and tell me it had to RESTART again! This happened several times. I returned the computer to Best Buy and they discovered the hard drive was bad. Thinking it a fluke, I bought a second ENVY, same model. When the Geek Squad attempted to transfer my data from the first ENVY to the replacement, they could not do it. The data at that point would have been lost. Thankfully, they were able to pull the data from my 2008 Pavilion for the replacement ENVY. The replacement worked just fine for 48 hours, then it too started exhibiting all the problems I had experienced with the first one. But the replacement took BAD to a NEW LEVEL. When I shut the computer down in order to reboot it the ENVY REFUSED TO TURN BACK ON!!!! For more than 30 minutes I kept pushing the power on button, but the computer would not turn back on. Two hours later it came back to life on its own! Needless to say I am returning this second ENVY computer to Best Buy and getting my money back! I purchased this computer based on the many positive reviews that have been posted. BUT, THIS COMPUTER HAS PROVEN TO BE THE WORST COMPUTER I HAVE EVER OWNED. I intend to replace it with another HP Pavilion. STAY AWAY from this one! As for the Geek Squad Services. All went well with the first installation. However, when they were enlisted to transfer data to the replacement things did not go so well. I had asked them to install 3 different software items for me. During the second installation, Microsoft Published was not correctly installed and I had to reinstall it myself. They did install Microsoft Works, but failed to install the software for my printer. Beyond that they have somehow corrupted the file system on my 2009 HP Pavilion! It is now inoperable! This is the same computer they had to use to transfer data to the replacement ENVY when the first one died! I intend to hold them accountable for this! I cannot in good conscious recommend either this ENVY computer or the Geek Squad personnel.

Terrible problems with sound/mic software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My laptop hard drive crashed and I needed a new computer ASAP - online learning and teaching is my primary use for the computer. Due to Covid, there is a very limited choice in machines at the moment, but the HP Envy was recommended to me with a lot of enthusiasm. Aesthetically, I liked the computer. It looks clean, I loved the fingerprint scan to unlock the screen, the backlit keyboard was great, and the ease of use was fantastic. The issue is that on the second day of owning it, the computer would tell me that no microphone or speaker software was installed. I had been using Zoom and Teams and both had been working fine; I restarted the computer and had no issues. But, then, after about twenty minutes of use, I'd have to restart. This made it completely useless for the purpose of teaching online. I exchanged it for a new HP Envy only to run into the exact same problems. I finally returned the second one and bought a Dell elsewhere. I'm disappointed that a computer I really liked had such a terrible issue, and that no one at Best Buy seemed aware of it.
