Great printer so far. Set up was very easy via the app. Adding the printer to my work computer took longer than expected but only because the directions weren’t clear. When adding it, it prints out a page with a number code needed that is only valid for 2 minutes. So be close to the printer when adding to another computer It looks great with the linen cover that comes with, printing fast, great looking pages. I have forgotten the cover being on, instead of paper being loaded and ready, but once you put the paper in it, it prints out right away. Great pride it and happy with how it doesn’t look like a normal big ugly printer. Would definitely recommend

I am very happy with this purchase. I primarily use it to print homework assignments that my child's teachers send to me, while we are quarantined at home. The printer was super easy to set up, and it is easy to swap the ink cartridges. But the primary reason that I got it is because it looks great on my shelf when I not using it. At the retail price, I do not think it is the best value; there are many cheaper alternatives out there with the same (or better) specs. But, when the HP Tango went on sale, I purchased it immediately.

Love this printer. Bought it on a whim. It doesn’t take up much space so I can store it on the bottom of my bookshelf. I like the linen cover keeps the dust out when not in use. Works great with AirPrint on my iPhone 12 or via the app. The picture print quality is nice too. No complaints at all with this printer.

I have owned this printer for my schooling and work needs. It prints crisp, clean pages and pretty fast too for an at-home printer. I absolutely love that I can scan any pages to my iPhone or my iMac with ease, or send via email. It's perfect for my needs for work and school. The added bonuses are when not in use, I can hid the printer and also never running out of ink. Too many times I would go in store and there is no ink available to purchase. I have already received my ink via mail before I ran out. It's so convenient that it makes my life that much more easier.

I had sworn off printers. Too expensive, too complicated, and always out of ink. Then Covid-19 happened, and suddenly this new to homeschooling mama needed a printer. What to do, what to do?!? Well, I got the Tango X and my opinion on printers is forever altered. I love it!! Fairly priced, EASY to use (even from my phone), and the printer orders it’s own ink when it is running low. Hubba Wubba - this printer has everything!!

A New Take on Printing and it's Cute

I think I like this compact and cool Tango X printer from Hewlett Packard. I say I think, because to be honest, it’s pretty radically different from any home printer I’ve owned or used. First the Good: · It’s really small. A lot of printers, including the one I was using, but is now sitting in a closet, are much larger. · It’s cute. It really is. It’s pretty quiet too and even has a more quiet mode. · If you get the Tango X (as opposed to the Tango), it comes with a cool binder sort of case, which all I can liken it to is a very large book binder. When the printer isn’t being used and you’d prefer to have your printer look well, less like a printer, you just lower the paper holder top and close the binder (which also serves as a paper tray for pages as they print). And voila, there sitting on your desk is something that looks like a big book. · It prints well (albeit slower than many printers, but just the same, everything I’ve printed looked great. · It’s “App” based. This means no more worrying about downloading printer drivers. Ever. Just download the HP Smart App to your phone (or computer – more on that below), set up an account, connect via Wifi and you’re ready to print. · You can print from anywhere in the world as long as you’re connected to your phone or tablet. · It works as an AirPrint printer (Apple iOS speak) which was seamless. · You can choose a Skill with Alexa or Google Assistant and just say, “Alexa, ask my printer to print (insert what you want printed - like a grocery list) and it really does. · It scans – Well sort of (more on that too). The OK, I’m Not So Sure: · Setting up with your phone or tablet is really the way to go with this. Setting up your home computer isn’t as easy. We use Windows 10 at home. You go out to the Windows Store, Search for HP, then the Smart App, download it, sign in, then you need to connect the printer. It walks you through finding the printer, but that in itself wasn’t easy or intuitive. It kept finding a printer which wasn’t the right one, but was a Tango and it took a call to HP to figure it out. Now, that was on a Dell PC. This being an HP Printer, my HP Laptop of course connected via the HP Smart App instantly. With a bit of effort, I now have two iPhones, two iPads a Dell PC and a HP Laptop all connected and printing. · Scanning: This printer doesn’t “actually” scan. It uses the App on your smart phone or tablet to take a picture of what you want to scan, then you print the “scan” from your phone or computer. I’d prefer to be able to place a document in the printer, have the printer scan it and then send it to my computer or email. · This is not a printer for someone who prints a lot. There is no traditional paper tray. You can load about 50 sheets in the top of the machine, but if you do and you think you’ll print from outside the home, that means you can’t use the cool book binder thingy or it won’t print. · It’s not a fast printing printer. If you need speed, this isn’t the printer for you. · As an addition to this, the print cartridges are small and there are only two, which is kind of good. One for colors, one for black. At the time of setup, you can join the HP cartridge replacement program where you put a credit card on account, based on your anticipated printing volume, and the printer keeps track of how many pages you’ve printed and determines when you’ll need new cartridges, which they send to you, for a fixed monthly fee. I’m not a heavy printer at home, so I am now paying $2.50/month for approximately 50 pages/month. We’ll see how this really works out. All in all, I think this is a great first attempt at a totally App controlled, able to work with Digital Assistants (Alexa-Google etc,), print from anywhere in the world which actually looks good printer. If you’d like to have a truly “smart” printer, that takes up very little space, that actually looks good by itself, but even better when cloaked in its book binder case and you don’t have high volume print needs, this is the printer for you. If you have high volume print needs and you need something that prints fast, this isn’t the printer for you.

I replaced my old larger HP printer which had a scanner/fax machine, with this gem. It’s compact, which means it doesn’t require a full size table. I’ve place mine on my living room entry table and it blends right in.

Love this printer!! At the end of the work day, you get fold it up and looks great... no bulky printer out in the open. I may purchase a slim scanner, since it does have that capability. That’s the only setback!

Cmon who can’t resist the style of this printer. One downside with the cover it takes more space. Not necessarily a tray to hold your pages securely. I would of bought instead without the cover. Photo prints are gorgeous! Prints only come out borderless. Not a big deal. Will see how long it’ll last... Not many options but just for a quick simple casual printer. It’s a go-go!

I absolutely LOVE this printer! It is much smaller than your typical printer, yet better than the larger ones in many ways. The cover for the printer is unnecessary but nice none the less. Set up was a breeze, I used my iPhone and the coinciding app. Installing the ink was a snap, literally, it snaps in. I used all of the 5 included photo papers quickly as I had to learn to use the app and the first 3 photos were cut off or aligned incorrectly, user error on my part. But I must say the photos are beautiful! Seriously, they are professional quality. The ink was dry instantly. It printed the SnapChat filter flawlessly too. I immediately ordered photo paper from Best Buy to start printing more photos, no more paying for crappy ones at the local drug stores, I can now print them right from my phone in the convenience of my home. You can print documents from you phone or computer as well, which also look great, no bleeding ink. You can sign up for the instant ink with HP and get 50 pages per month for $2.99, that's the lowest plan, but you can print as many photos from your phone as you want and they don't count against your page number for the month. Its kind of confusing but I signed up anyway because the first 2 months are free so I figure I'll know if I like it by the time my free trial is up, worth a shot since you get more free ink!

Portable Printer Must Have Private Wi-Fi

Initial guided setup through the HP Smart app was no issue. Plug it in, download the app, connect the printer to Wi-Fi and it is ready to print. The printer even has indicator lights sync'd with the app to guide you through installing the ink and loading paper. Build quality is pretty good. It is plastic, but it has a good mix of colors and textures. The fabric cover is also nice. It has a large multicolor indicator LED for status info. As printers go it looks very nice. Print quality is on par with other printers. Photo prints on the included sample pack of HP photo paper were of really good quality (although much warmer, with a red tint, when compared to how than they appear on the phone). It also prints reasonably fast for a compact printer. I will also note that the ink cartridge is small, but I wasn’t surprised since this a compact printer. My main reason for not giving the printer a higher rating is that it really isn't that much more portable than other printers and has a disadvantage when compared to them. The fabric cover looks nice, but it is not actually attached to the printer and is not really a case for transporting it. There is no place to store the cord nor does the cord come with a simple strap to store it neatly. The printer works great when on a home Wi-Fi network, but it is a pain to use when you are on public Wi-Fi or without Wi-Fi. It has no USB port and Wi-Fi direct was a chore to use on my Android phone and didn't work at all for my Windows 10 computer or iPhone (this a major issue for a portable printer). I also have an issue with is the creative marketing that appears on the box and I imagine in some sales literature. To be clear “scanning and copying” remotely via the HP Smart App means the app takes a picture using your phone and sends it to the printer. This is not a scanner, just a plain old printer. Basically any HP printer that uses this app can do this and it is not good for professional scans or copying. It is a decent printer, but there are lots of those. It has many compromises for a slight advantage in portability and aesthetics.

If you print things casually at home, this is the printer you want. They got it right. I've had lots of home printers over the past 20+ years, and this one is a refreshing change. Looking at it from every angle, setting it up, printing, copying, I just think, "hey that's a great idea!" It takes a very small footprint. The device has almost no physical controls on it, it runs from the app on your phone or computer. It doesn't have a power brick, you just plug in a normal figure-8 power cord. It doesn't use a paper tray -- you just open the lid, which also acts as the paper feeder. It catches your printed pages on the gray cover thing, or I just positioned a box on the floor in front of it and that works just fine if you have minimal desk space for it. Setting it up through the app was surprisingly easy. It instantly found the printer, no waiting around. I didn't have to sit there and watch a "searching…" countdown. The app shows you how to load the paper and ink, and it knows when you've done it. Documents printed quickly and clean. Then I used the "copy" feature. It used my phone's camera to scan an image, and I thought, "wow, what a great idea, if this works!" Sure enough, it found the page I wanted to copy, and it even squared it up automatically. The copy came out pretty good; not letter quality, but for sure good enough for a copy. I printed a picture off of my phone -- the printer knew when I loaded 4x6 paper and printed appropriately. The pic print came out just as good as other contemporary inkjets, so I'm happy with that. It is really minimalist, but it has the features that you really need and it does them really well, and it's super easy to use. When you don't need it, you can tuck it away easily, it's cloth cover is a really nice touch. However, I'm a maximizer, so there's a few features I'd hope to see in the future. First -- I (gasp) drove a cup hook into the side of the printer, punched a hole in the cover, and with a piece of cord I now have a page catcher so it takes even less space on the desktop. Also, there's a lot of missing opportunity here for mobile users. If this had rechargeable batteries, USB or SD card memory, and more focus on direct printing, it would be awesome to take on the road. I do have a trip this weekend, so I'll put the "print anywhere" feature to test! All that said, this printer is highly recommended for the casual home user. I'll probably get this printer for my relatives who always need tech support :)

    Impressive & Compact Home Printer

My initial impression was that this is a very minimalist, attractive looking printer. It’s definitely geared for home or home office. The appealing wrap-around linen cover makes it look like a large book of some sort when it’s not in use. The Tango X works best with phones & tablets and not desktop computers. I attempted to print from my desktop without success. Before setup, it’s best to download the HP App and create an HP Connected Account. Initial setup didn’t go perfectly according to the instructions, but it was still largely painless. Most print jobs are surprisingly fast and crisp looking, with one exception. Printing a full page black & white photo took so long, I stepped away and had plenty of time to make a cup of coffee. The Smart App is very helpful & will also let you know when paper or ink is low. The only negative: there is no USB port or other way of connecting directly to a device. So, if there is a connectivity issue with WiFi, you’re down for the count. Also, a minor issue, but the little tag with the HP logo on the linen cover has a tendency to catch on print jobs which causes a back-up on the following pages. Overall however, this is a good choice for a home printer.

This is the best printer I’ve ever bought! It’s compact and takes up very little room, and yet works better than any other one I’ve had!! So happy with everything HP!! It was SO easy to set up and connect to my phone! It prints beautifully, and copying and scanning with my phone by wireless sending couldn’t be more simple!! It’s sleek and attractive for my office too and the cover is a great addition. The only thing I’d change is a cut out for the plug (in the cover) so it can close while still plugged in. But, this is still a fabulous printer!!
