    Color changing bar light will not turn off.

    I have tried everything. I've turned it off, unplugged it and re-set it. Sometimes it will go off on it's own but then turns back on whenever it feels like it. Hard to sleep with a light show every night!

      This is the notification light. All you need to say is Alexa tell me my notification. Or, disable the notifications in the Alexa app. iHome

    Never worked well initially, now inoperable clock

    The Alexa component did not work well as other units. Had to yell and still commonly mistook my voice commands. Now seven weeks later the clock function is not working at all.

    Alexa is very limited, not like Echos. Alarm is very quiet. Turning up alarm also turns up Alexa voice volume, which gets very loud. Doesn’t play well with other Alexa devices.

    when you set an alarm sometimes it works in the morning, sometimes it doesn't, the only time it works is when I set the Google alarm that morning.

      I would like to better understand your issue. The iAVS16 is an Amazon compatible device, not Google. Once you've established a connection with Amazon through our iHome AVS app, setting the alarm is as simple as a voice command; example "Alexa, set the alarm for 6am."

    Worked for one week then only useful as a regular clock. I would not recommend spending your money on this.

    Opened box and set up, all seemed great but Alexa was slow to respond. After about 2 weeks of use, Alexa and the light stopped working. Product will be returned.

    Good, but should have a tuner

    If you want to wake to a radio station, you are limited to iHeartRadio. Our preferred station isn't there. While Alexa can play the station, you can't use Alexa for alarms. For the price, it should have an FM tuner. No battery backup for the alarm. Not a true replacement for a clock radio. Sound and other features are good.

The iAVS16 supports all but a very small percentage of Alexa's functionality (and that gap continues to narrow). We anticipate the services noted above will be available soon!

    I'm excited to be using the new iAVS16, because of the Alexa feature built right into it. For me, it's convenient and way better than the other iHome models out there. I had one of the old models, and the screen was fading away so I thought I should check out the iHome website to see if any other systems came out; there it is, first Alexa alarm clock for iHome. Overall I think it's a great alarm clock. But, I'm not trying to be biased here so ill tell you the cons about it. The system is a little buggy because it's a new speaker and all, but they recently came out with a new firmware update, and it fixed some of my problems (If I encounter any serious problems I will update this review).

    Not very smart. Just a clock with Alexa.

    I bought this with intention of having an alarm clock with voice-commands. Let's get to it. CONS -You can't ask Alexa to play Spotify(3rd party devices not allowed?) -Because of this I feel the extra "customizable" buttons are obnoxious, make it looked cluttered and could be 'hidden' in the design better? -You can turn off the colored lights but the button lights are set to BRIGHT AS HECK ALL THE TIME. -As far as I could find, I can snooze alarms with the button, but turning off the alarms(no further snooze) requires voice control. (Why not both?) -getting a Playlist/song/artist to be registered in the iHome app is a mess. Go to Spotify -> select playlist -> go to iHome app -> make sure current song is showing -> hit add to list -> go to a different menu somewhere else to make sure you got the right one on there. It requires faith.(Probaly stemming from 3rd party issues) -The stupid light. It won't turn off if you have a preset color for your custom button. I used the physical button to change the setting to off but the light stayed on? Terrible. Still trying to figure out how to turn it off. Maybe I need to close Spotify..who knows? A $150 speaker should be able to turn off the lights with the button. -Zero battery backup. Even on the simple clock function. Wonderful. -Alarms are controlled and only accessed by Alexa which is fine I suppose, it just means you have to go to Alexa app to view them or talk to her. And if you don't use the Alexa service, it's essentially a bluetooth clock. PROS -play Spotify for your alarm. (But it's a preset playlist and if you want to change the song after you wake up, you have to push the forward skip button on the alarm itself. You can't change the song, because it thinks it's an alarm. So you stop the alarm. Go to your Spotify. Pick your new song. Hit play. And listen to that....Wonderful. ) -It shows you the temperature outside. -It's $150. For a BT speaker, a clock with weather and a gimp Alexa. You can buy all of these individually for cheaper. Probably. Im guessing here. At the end of the day, I feel like this is a useless middleman between the user and Alexa. There may be technical limitations, but it's not a Smart Alarm Clock. I've had mine for 4 hours, and am about to return it.

      Spotify works along with other music services (like iHeart and Pandora) are available with a free account. Amazon Music is also available to all Amazon Prime members for no extra charge. In addition to that, you can stream music on your purchased music from your mobile device using Bluetooth or over WiFi using our iHome AVS app.

      The alarm can be activated and snoozed via voice command. In addition to using the snooze button on the top of the unit.
      We are always trying to improve our product. Currently, the product does not have a backup battery.
      Please do note that alarm data is stored locally on the product and will trigger even if WiFi is temporarily disconnected.
      However, if wall power is completely unavailable to the iAVS16 alarms will not trigger.

    Great in many ways but major drawback

    I love that I can combine two items on my nightstand into one. The Alexa feature works great—very responsive and no problems with Alexa understanding me. The audio is very good. I have a lot of high end audio equipment, and while this doesn’t really compete, for what it is, it’s very impressive with crisp treble and adequate but not overly done bass. The light bar provides an element of interest. I was really happy with this purchase until night came and I dimmed the clock to its lowest level. While the screen dimmed adequately—almost to the point of not being seen, the light from the buttons on top lit up half my bedroom. The only option is to completely turn off the display, which means I can’t check the time during those moment that I wake and in the middle of the night. What were the people who designed this thinking? Also, at this price, it should have a light adjustment feature that adjust the brightness based on the room lighting. FInally, they needed to include better instructions. You just get the basics for setting up with no instructions for manuevering through the app.

    Very happy with this Alexa alarm clock

    We just added the Alexa Echo to our house a few weeks ago, and my wife saw this alarm clock with Alexa functionality. It's not cheap, but it seemed like just what we need. Setup is easy as with other Alexa products. It took a couple of days to figure out what functions are managed on the device, the iHome app, and the Alexa app, but that was no problem and it is all smooth now. The sound quality is very good. The clock is attractive, and has cool multi-colored lights like Alexa Echo, but better. Weather, time, sports, music are all available at my bedside now. I like it a lot.

    Read the previous reviews after I had purchased so I was expecting to execute a speedy return to the store. Many of the issues mentioned by others were either taken care of with subsequent software updates or not there in the first place. My unit works perfectly. Keep in mind that you are using one company’s technology in another company’s product. That scenario will always lead to a few things that could be easier to do. If you want this unit to work properly, you MUST download both the Alexa and iHome apps like the instructions say. Once you do that, lighting scenarios, volume for alarm vs music or talk volume can be adjusted. There is a function where you can dim the display at a pre-determined time and then bring it back to full brightness during the day. I’m short, read the instructions, have some patience and enjoy the unit once you have it performing to your personal preferences. I recommend this product if you are in the market for a high-tech alarm clock. Hope this helps your decision making.

    Great Concept - Not So Great In Practice

    I have had this for 2 years and have meant to review multiple times. Only now that I'm working from home consistently are the inconveniences starting to impact my productivity and prompt me to write this review. I REALLY wanted to like this product. When it was released I was THRILLED to finally have an official Apple product with Alexa integration that would connect to and control my other Amazon Alexa devices. I had planned to purchase one for my room to play with it a bit, then purchase the same device for each of my kids rooms to act as alarm clock and night light. For the last 2 years this has only been a glorified alarm clock in my room. * This cannot be added to multi-room music groups in the Alexa app. It only works independently as a speaker, so there really is no connectivity to other devices. * This does not play Apple Music (say what???). Yep. MAJOR disappointment there. I have an Apple Music subscription and cannot listen to commercial free music on my device. I have to listen to Amazon Music (or iHeart Radio, Pandora, etc.) with commercials. * Alexa freaks out. It responds randomly when nobody says anything even remotely sounding like "Alexa" and then doesn't respond when "Alexa" is said multiple times to activate voice control. I can't tell you how many times I've yelled at this thing to activate voice control. * It randomly stops playing music. I've been trying to listen to music in my office for the last hour. It has stopped and had to be restarted 3 times. The info still scrolls across the display so it think it's playing, but no sound comes from the speaker. I know I bought a first generation more or less, so I have started to look for an updated version that may actually do the things I wanted this to do. Hopefully something exists. But I would not recommend buying this device in its current state.

    Do Not Buy!! iHome Gave Up on iAVS16 Issues!!

    I have had this device for over two years hoping that iHome would fix the audio lagging issues, wake word problems, random crackling issues, and music that randomly pauses, however, they have given up on updates. They claim that the issues will be resolved and even included them on the spec page. A year ago, they mysteriously deleted the info. and never released another update again. The last system update for the speaker was May 2018!! They promised to fix a lot of issues, including the voice calling, and never followed through with it. I wish they fixed these issues because I think this could be one of the best alarm clock ideas ever; they failed miserably. I am going to try to sell this off and buy the new Amazon Echo Show 8.

We are always looking for ways to improve so we will make sure to submit your feedback to the right department. Keep in mind; we are a third party Alexa provider. Alexa does not release all of their features to other companies who use their technology (such as voice calling). The random crackling is also an Alexa App issue, which we do not control. We control the iHome AVS App firmware. Many of your complaints step from the Alexa App. We need permission to add this feature to our units. In addition, the iHome AVS App was last updated on 9/20/2019 for iOS users and 8/30/2019 for android users. Please contact us so we can help you operate your unit properly.     Try something different.

    Love the idea behind this clock. However, functions don't work as they should. 1st issue is. Dimming I always set it on DIM 2 and then it will automatically put itself back up to full DIM (which is bright). So in the middle of the night when I wake up the light is on. 2nd issue is when I snooze the alarm the lights on the bottom will start to flash and continue to flash until I tell Alexa to stop. (which shuts the alarm off). Extremely annoying to have to constantly adjust the DIM and can't even snooze the alarm due to the annoying lights. When I first got it, it didn't do the light flashing on snooze. I don't know if an update was done or not but no way to figure out how to change it.

    Unit was awesome out of the box. Until the alarm started sounding the next morning and couldn’t be shut off by voice because it lost connection. I moved the unit to within 10 feet of the router to test its ability to stay connected. No use. The unit wouldn’t even stay connected for five minutes. Returned to store after contacting tech support and finding out it would be a few days until someone would email me back from ihome with help. We exchanged this unit for 2 Amazon dot products that work flawlessly. 4 days later I received a response from ihome stating the unit must be in a WiFi dead zone. So my review is this...... Don’t buy. Don’t buy. Don’t buy.
