I bought this alarm clock for my son and he loves it..

It was harder to set up then I expected, once established it works BUT twice it has lost time - the wrong time was showing & the only way I know to fix was to unplug for awhile, this is not good for a clock radio - good thing I am not using it to wake up. Plus it does not respond to me at times almost returned it last week

Easy to set up and get going. Love the colors that keep changing and are not too bright.

I did the “guy” thing. My wife wanted a new alarm clock, so I set out to buy her something with all the cool features. I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of looking, and ended up talking myself into this one. How cool that you can set the clock by talking to Alexa, right? Yeah, not so much. Look at the date I bought it versus the date I finally wrote this review. Like 10 months? So we’ve seriously given this thing a lot of chances. And now I’m ready to make a solid declaration about it: This is a terrible, terrible device, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Listen, we’ve all seen or experienced the many cool things Alexa can do, right? I mean she’s powered by Amazon’s artificial intelligence engine, and Amazon is pretty much the hands-down best at AI. So given that Alexa can handle some really complex, complicated tasks, I ask myself why she can’t deal with something as mundane and simple as basic alarm clock functions. We have other Alexa devices in our house and my wife routinely interacts with them with great success. But this clock? Not so much. Not one time in the entire 10 months has she been able to set the clock on the first attempt. It takes 4 or 5 tries to get Alexa to activate and listen and decide she wants to set the clock. My easy-going wife is routinely ready to drop kick the thing by the time she gets it set. But that’s not even the worst part! For 10 months I have experienced my wife trying to turn off the alarm in the mornings with voice commands. It is absolutely ridiculous. She will have to try many times before it finally stops the alarm, and then the alarm will just spontaneously fire back up again and she will have to start the process over again. It’s almost like there are multiple alarms set, but we have confirmed many times that isn’t the case. Oh, also, the super fun nightlight ring thing at the bottom? Seems like a fun thing, right? There’s a app to control it. Wait, an app? Is this thing controlled by Alexa or not? Very unclear. But apparently the colorful super-bright light ring is not. But in our case it is also not controlled by the app. And there’s no button we can find to turn it off. It will just come on sometimes and then stay on all day no matter how hard we try to turn it off. I kid you not, there have been at least 15 nights where I have covered her clock with a blanket so it stops lighting up the room like a disco ball. At first I was frustrated with my wife - just go into the app and turn it off!! Here, I’ll show you the user manual! It’s really easy! So she handed her phone to me to try. Absolutely none of the light controls in the app had any effect on the light whatsoever. I’m reading along in the manual and following it to the letter, and it simply doesn’t work. And then at some point the next day - POOF! - the light goes away. No idea why. It just does. Anyway, I’m finally writing this review because I have ordered her a different clock. When I showed it to her she asked “and this one doesn’t make me talk to it?” No, dear. I’m all done with Alexa clocks.

Have had this for several months now, and really want to like it because of the functionality it provides, but it simply is not reliable. Some days it works great, plays music from Amazon Music with no problems, then others it just freaks out and can’t process anything. Recently had music going for half an hour, then it started becoming more and more delayed until it was making 1-2 sounds short sounds every 30-60 seconds. Then no way to stop it other than restarting it. Disappointing, because it was exactly what I was looking for. And I have rebooted, tried different WiFi signals, different settings, etc. Same result. Based on the reviews, others have had better luck.
