This was for my daughter for her tv in an apartment bedroom. She wanted good sound, small and with a remote control. This speaker was ideal, plus other speakers this size were portable and so ran on a battery that would constantly need charging, where as this one just ran on external power. Also, she likes the Bluetooth so she can listen to music on her phone. For her purposes, this works perfectly.

The speaker was purchased to be used in the kitchen with Alexa. I mounted it on the wall right under the cabinets. This speaker is small in size but can get very loud. It was surprisingly loud and over exceeded meeting my expectations. There is a lack of bass but I did not expect it to have much being a more affordable speaker and I wasn't looking for anything more for it's purpose. If you're using this for a TV, it will out perform your TV Speakers by far. If you're looking for a home theater sound and feel - look elsewhere.

First thought I had in opening this... You're kidding me, right? It's 1/3 smaller than the length of the box, it's really the length of two desktop speakers if you sat them bottom to bottom, glued them, and called it a Sound Bar. But once it's on and you're playing something, it delivers good sound for a small room (if you're using this in a large room, you'll be disappointed... but for a bedroom, garage, or other small space, it does the job.) The presets are not that great, STANDARD sounds the best. CINEMA cuts the bass out for some reason (with no audible change in the high end), and NEWS is useful if someone is sensitive to bass sounds and you need to keep the volume up (cuts all bass sound out... sounds tinny, but like I said...) The bass response is similar to a comparable Bluetooth Speaker, honestly. Bass is all about displacement, and with a speaker this small, you're just not going to have much air to knock around at all. There's a bass channel hole in the back on the left side, so it does have a dedicated speaker for it, but this isn't going to shake windows or vibrate objects exactly. Again, if you're using this in a bedroom, it's alright. You'll be happy with it.

At first, I was skeptical of giving the Insignia Sound Bar a try. I thought it wouldn't sound as good due to its short length compared to other sound bars. However, i quickly realized that the length should not effect sound quality dramatically. So i decided to give it a try. For $43, the audio is clear and bass is good quality. Both important characteristics i look for. Although it comes with RCA cables, i did not need to use it. Instead, i had a digital optical cable lying around, so i connected to the back of the sound bar. This made setting-up on an old TV, painless. In addition to an easy set-up experience, there is a remote. The remote has a good connection range and is responsive from the couch. Overall, Insignia Sound Bar delivers great quality sound, easy to set up, and comes with a responsive remote-- What a great value for $43.

Used on DirecTV universal remote. Small, affordable

Purchased to use on a Samsung TV with DirecTV cable box. Initially tried plugging the audio cable into the back of the TV and it didn't work. Then we plugged the audio cable into the DirecTV box and it worked fine (had to switch the samsung TV settings to accept an "external audio") With some patience and persistence, I was able to program it to my DirecTV universal remote model RC66 using code 11564 (after trying several codes and looking up the codes on the DirecTV website). Also had to use a follow-up code 993 by following the instructions shown on the review photo. Once that was done, everything worked! Also we tested that the Bluetooth worked well from an iPhone. We bought this as a reduced price Open Box / inspected and everything was included. The footprint of the device is small - small enough to "nest" within the front of the x-shaped base of our Samsung TV. We purchased it because our TV speakers had become somewhat damaged and needed some basic audio function that was slightly better than our TV. It is basic sound quality - slightly nicer than the standard TV speakers, and appropriate quality for the low price.

I picked this up on sale at Best Buy for $39. I was looking for a compact soundbar to put in my bedroom to use instead of my tv speakers. Yes, it’s not near as good as my vizio soundbar w/wireless subwoofer that is hooked up to my Vizio m series tv but it’s defintely better than the tv speakers on tv in the bedroom. I love how compact it is as well. It also has Bluetooth which is nice. I use it when I run on the treadmill and I want to listen to music on my phone. I read reviews before I purchased, and I have been pleased so far!

Nice piece of engineering - structurally, functionally, and aesthetically. Simple to setup and use (including remote). Good for use in small to medium size rooms (say up to 16x16ft). It surprisingly has good low and mid-range sound and performs well as the volume is adjusted upward. It definitely surpasses anything you might expect considering it's price and it's compact footprint. The 8watt per channel speakers should not be a deterrent. Although it is marketed primarily for soundbar applications it actually performs as well as many blue-tooth speakers in the $50-100 range that I have purchased. The key to proper use, as with any sound amplification system, is to make sure the input volumns (source devices) are set to optimum levels. I highly recommend.

I bought this speaker for a 32-inch TV in my office. I did not want to spend too much but did want to improve the sound quality of my TV. This was a great solution. The speakers are small and very reasonably priced. Easy setup and decent quality sound for the price!

I initially purchased this because it was half priced. I’m impressed with this speaker especially for its small size. It fits very well with my unorthodox setup. I mainly watch cable TV and DVD movies. Because the TV’s speakers are downward firing (as with most flat screen TV’s), the sound is a bit compromised because the TV is in the middle of the room sitting on a short stand. The speaker sits in front of the TV fitting nicely because it is not wide or tall enough to interfere with the picture or remote functions (The TV sits at eye level). The bass is not too impressive because of its small size but is still noticeable. This is good for a small to mid-sized bedroom (I’d estimate about 150 sq. ft.). Included is an RCA cable and RCA to 3.5mm plug adapter for those two types of audio outputs. The Bluetooth function works perfectly so far.

Wow. After my BOUZ cable input jack died (it lasted 13 years and the radio/cd still work), I searched for a new sound amplifier that wouldn't break the bank. I got this on sale, but would buy anyway. So, as an expert I didn't read the instructions and didn't look at the remote to see that I needed to set up the source...I thought the included rca cables didn't work and bought an optical cable. Anyway, (doh) here's the skinny: sound is enhanced with settings for standard, theater (bass +/treble+) and news (spoken +). Sources are optical audio cable, rca cable and bluetooth. With tv sound on and theater chosen you get a bit of surround sound. Good volume and sound reproduction. Does it give the same incredible tinkling definition of my old school BOUZ cd player? No, but for under $80...dang. Buy it. It's good. (oh and it's nice and small and low key)

I purchased a smaller TV for the kitchen but the sound on flat screen TV's is horrible. It sounded like it was coming out of a tin can. Since this was in my kitchen, space for the soundbar was a major factor. I found this little sound bar and it is PERFECT! It only takes up a very small space. The sound is excellent. In addition to using it for my TV, it also has blue tooth capabilities, so I can use with my Ipad as well. I highly recommend this, especially for the price.

I bought this to add to a small flat screen TV I am using in my kitchen. Since I didn't want to loose counter space I mounted the TV to an articulated wall bracket so I could turn it to view it from the kitchen and adjoining dining room. Since I use it in both rooms I could not use it with a sub-woofer soundbar like I use in my living room. This soundbar is easily mounted with a bracket attached to the back of the TV. Although the bass is not as full as with a sub-woofer system (obviously) the soundbar itself is much louder and has better sound than the TV speakers and provides better fidelity. I like that the soundbar "follows" the TV position as it is located just under the TV.

Had to buy another external sound source as my new Benq monitor didn't come with speakers, and my old external speakers wouldn't hook up to it. That's fine, cause I walked out of Best Buy with sound far better than I was expecting for its size. I really like it for watching movies, as the sound really accentuates the frequency range without drowning out one end of the spectrum. I'm sure there are better sound bars, but for the price and size, this thing holds up. Projects very well at minimal volume, is a great representation of proximity clarity one gets while gaming with a headset, and doesn't take up too much space. Comes with a remote control to boot.

We're using it for a bedroom where it's not that big. It's helpful and good to have, especially as our TV's volume is so low. As with everyone, I would recommend the optical cable to help. If you don't need heavy bass and just want louder volume, then this should be good. Get it on sale!

A superb little soundbar, works like a charm.. plug and play, with surprisingly good sound, excellent volume on it. Have this in our bedroom to give our TV a much needed umpf in sound and it does, has a small footprint too and can even be wall mounted if needed. For the price we paid, I would def recommend this soundbar.

This is a good little speaker. The sound from our tv comes out the back, so we put this in front and now the sound is much clearer. This is for a vacation home, so we didn't need/want anything other than improved sound. It was easy to set up. The Bluetooth is nice. Lets us play music from our devices easily.

I am not an expert in speaker and sound technologies and with that acknowledgement this is a review from a casual listener. To me the speaker is an economical option that sounds better than our TV speakers and provides adequate sound for the large room where the TV is. No doubt higher end speakers will have better sound but this speaker meets my needs at a reasonable price. I do like the small size of the speaker and that was one of the considerations when purchasing it. I gave it 5 stars because it delivered on my expectations for price, sound and format.

As a college student, I needed a sound bar that fit my price range. The Bluetooth is great but the range from phone to sound bar is limited and will cut out if you go to far (from an apartment living room to the bedroom.) The sound is incredible but the bass is intense and causes the bar to slowly move (it's fallen off my entertainment station a few times.) I also recently bought a 4K TV and unfortunately the soundbar isn't recognized on my TV. So now I just use it for music which is okay since my TV has great sound. All in all, you get what you pay for. It gets the job done and I would recommend it to college students or anyone who lives in a small space. If you want it for the ultimate movie or gaming experience, I would recommend saving up for a better quality soundbar. This will not get the job done.
