Needed a CD player for the car which did not have one. Good sound quality through the headphone jack into the Aux In in the car. Buttons are small but easily accessible on top of unit, since I have an area in the console where it can sit flat. Only used it a few times so far, hopefully it will last. Can't evaluate battery life yet, but wish it came with a 12V adapter.

New auto's no longer have CD players. However they do have audio input jacks. Purchased this and a 6 ft audio cable. Connected cable to line out of the CD player and audio input jack of my new Buick Envision. Selected Auxiliary on the infotainment screen. Works perfectly. Now I can listen to my CD library again.

I was looking for an inexpensive, but sturdy CD Player that plays CD’S, CW, CRW that provides functionality of skip control and sound protection. This CD Player was highly recommended by various surveys. By the time I purchased this-I already knew what I wanted. I tried going online and I saw the reviews of this product-I was impressed.

This is very handy and very helpful for my wife to listen to songs as she does other things. She sings with a group and needs to know the words.

This is exactly what I need for listening to music right before bed! When I'm done, I just pull headphones off and snooze. I love the lock feature so nothing can disturb the settings!

read all the reviews. Knew issue with not being able to return to where you left off, and it not being able to fast forward thru a track. You have to start thru the track and listen until you can find your place. Not sure there are reasonable priced players that do that anymore. You can set it to play first 10 seconds or so of every track, until you find the track you left off at, which is time consuming. I've not tried that feature, though the booklet does say that setting eats up battery life. I don't worry because I have an adapter from an old Sony Walkman which was amazing, or I use rechargeable batteries. Be that as it may, reading the booklet was not easy given it's print size; I had to read it twice to understand everything, which is not usual for me. I use my player solely for audio books due to visual issues. I did read about skip problems, so enabled that function. However, with it on, the lightest brush, or movement, and I do mean lighttest, including reaching over but not touching the machine, caused it to shut down. And then you have to restart and hope you saw where it was, track wise. That was unexpected and a big disappointment. I discovered however, illogically, that if I did not use the anti-skip feature, the problem went away. Bought it the beginning of August and used it every night for 8+ hours for the first 2 weeks until my first library download came in. Like the machine. Very good sound quality for books, which is it's total use. Cannot address any other useage. I considered the 10.99 machine, and buying 2, but have had very limited life spans with them previously, and if I opened both, the warranty period would be an issue. Any way, decided on this, and opted for the 2 year warranty @ 6.99. Looked at the more expensive model, but the only difference I could find was the radio, and do not need that. Was very impressed with the more recent, at that time, responses from Insignia when people had problems, difficulties or were not satisfied with their purchase. Made me feel more confident in the product,

I bought a Insignia portable CD player 18 months ago and it is still working perfectly. I purchased this one as a backup for the one I currently use as I have been so pleased with the quality of this device. I use it while I am exercising at the gym to listen to book CDs and it never skips even when I am jogging on the treadmill. It also fits into a pocket nicely and I can listen to it while I do housework or work in the yard. The price is very reasonable and I would highly recommend the Insignia portable CD player.

This product was purchased to work as a "replacement" CD player on a Bose Wave radio where the CD had failed. Since there is a line out for a 3.5mm jack on this little machine, it can connect to the radio through the aux. It sounds really, really good that way. The controls are very intuitive and built around the LED display. The included manual explains in detail how to work all the programming buttons, too. Also, there is an option to work off DC power and since I still have a changeable voltage Radio Shack adapter from a portable cassette I used to have, I was delighted to see that it fits and works on this at 4.5 voltage. Why buy a CD player? Sometimes you just wanna play your CD's (Nightwish gave away "Decades" at their recent concert) without the extra effort of starting up a tablet or firing up a computer or laptop to play them that way. This is completely worth it for the price and I received mine for $5.00 off with a gift certificate. Good job, Insignia!

Bought this to be a stand-in for a CD player that had spun too many times, anyway , good CD player, nothing too amazing except the good anti-skip buffer and my model does have a line level out, if you want to connect to a stereo receiver/amp. Haven’t used it heavily but under moderate use it holds its own, though has one downside, which was that it didn’t come with an AC adapter for the wall socket, which you would think it would, as I hate using batteries. But that was easily remedied by going to Amazon and buying one, matching mA and voltage input. I’ve had it for a couple years , no trouble. Hint, matching mA and voltage levels for the ac adapter is critical, as it will mean either good long product life, or a shorter one. So anyway I think I just splurged for a Audiovox multi volt selecter model. Plug fits great into the insignia CD player. That’s about all I have. To my knowledge the CD player may or may not play cd-r discs. Read literature online for details, always research before a purchase!

Good Sound For Budget

If these are being phased out, it's unfortunate. Insignia has been one of the more reliable manufacturers of budget portable CD players. Aside from a few mild inconveniences, this produces good sound through my over-ear Bose headphones. AS LONG AS THE ESP SKIP PROTECTION IS TURNED OFF! It must be disabled every time you play a CD as its default setting is on. Even though, ironically, the product booklet guide advises against having it on too often due to battery drainage.
This is a very sensitive player that must be played without movement on a sturdy flat surface. Not recommended for joggers or for any kind of kinetic movement.
Recommended for sedentary use.

I purchased this CD player because you no longer carry the cd/mp3 player I usually get...please bring it back! I listen on mine EVERY day & love traveling with it. Some of us have books, music on cd & mp3 that we own, borrow from the library and/or purchase and need the portable player to listen. The Insignia is just what we need. Hard to find one that's comparable in size, quality.

What I needed

I purchased this item to permanently reside in my 2016 Smart ForTwo. In their infinite "wisdom" the car's manufacturer left out a CD player since "obviously" only Bluetooth technology is used by all drivers now! (Gerrr!) And no, I couldn't put a new stereo in the car as the original system's configuration has the unit separated from the dash on a kind of "stalk". Looks cool but doesn't allow for switching out for another stereo.
So, I bought this CD player, a cup holder bracket to hold it, an audio cable to connect the player to the media plug-in of my radio and a cigarette plug-in power adapter. It's a somewhat strange looking set up, but I can FINALLY listen to my CDs again.
So far the player is working as anticipated and the price suited my pocket book.

I wanted a small portable CD player to listen to my meditation and dharma talks, etc. in bed or anywhere. I will be taking it with my fave CD's on vacation. The sound is good. I would have given it 5 stars if it had come with better headphones. The rigid, unadjustable head piece is designed to curve behind lower part of head. This is uncomfortable when I am laying in bed, and it pushes the earphones to one edge of my ears, causing me to increase the volume. If I don't move, I soon forget about it, focusing on what I'm listening to. Still, a bit annoying.

I bought this to replace one I used to use many years ago nobody had any I could look at except for Best Buy. I work only a couple of miles from Best Buy so it was easy for me to stop and pick up it seems that it will work just fine for portable use however I use it on my job through a Bosch job site radio, if the radio is not coming one day i just use the player all you need is a aux cable and your all set,the player comes with batteries but I opted to purchase a 4.5 volt plug so i wouldn't keep changing batteries.

Works perfectly and sounds as good to my ears as the component CD player on my system that passed away.
I was hoping to run it using its wall wart to save on batteries, but it apparently can only be used to recharge them. The packaging was not clear about this but seemed to imply that I could.
I'd have returned it if I tried it during the return period.

This CD player replaced my very old Sony walkman which quit after many, many years. It is the third one I've tried, and I am happy with this one for the ease of use when I listen to books at night. I can change discs, start and change tracts without turning on a light, since the controls are simple and easy to remember. The only problem is the battery use which is not good. I am trying to find the right plug-in charger to avoid burning through 2 batteries every 8-10 days.
