Comparison of Jabra 85t and Bose QC Earbuds

Context: I've owned the Elite 65ts for 18 months and, in horse race fashion, the Bose QC buds for the last 2 weeks. Overall, I'd characterize these as "very good", though I am still undecided on what to keep and what to return. Breaking it down, on the 4 dimensions what matter most to me... Sound: The 85ts do not have the expansive sound stage of the Bose QCs, but they do have a very capable equalizer feature that allows me to contour the sound to my tastes. For recent music produced to modern standards (typically more bass and top-end), the Bose contour works fine and the QCs are the clear winner; rich, expansive, perhaps "grand". For deeper catalog, older music with a very flat contour, the 85ts (with equalizer tuning) are notably better; the Bose can get muddy and there is nothing you can do about it. Existing reviews for both products notwithstanding, I call it a wash. Bose can change the game by adding a simple equalizer function Noise Cancellation: This is my first experience with NC, so my expectations are modest. Comparing the two, the Bose QCs are maybe 15-20% better at cancelling the rest of the world, but I don't think that difference will be noticeable in everyday use. Fact is they both do a great job of isolating music from environment (at least in my usage), and I am thrilled with both. Form-Factor: The 85ts are smaller, both the buds themselves and the case. Feel like the build quality, again case & buds, is comparable. I wasn't inherently put off by the size of the Bose, but the wings on the ear tips didn't add the stability and grab I expected. All told, I like the packaging of the 85ts by a significant measure. Small, and it just works for me Comfort: Both are more comfortable than my old 65ts, but the 85ts are 1-2 ticks better than the Bose. After a bit, I forget then 85ts are there, but there is enough pressure from the Bose to always know they are there. For both, they feel very secure in my left ear and somewhat secure in my right ear (but not loose enough to go one up on ear tips size). I don't use buds in an active circumstance, so it's a toss-up on security of fit Ultimately, I'll decide based on sound, and that's where the mix of results/observations will make it hard. The Bose sound stage is fantastic, the 85ts a little less so, but the ability to contour the sound through an equalizer is important to me. Maybe I'll keep both :-)

I bought the Elite 85t on sale for $150 and have found it to be an excellent value at that price. As with any other earbud, it all begins with the fit. If you can't get a good fit, the sound and noise cancellation will disappoint no matter the earbud. Fortunately for me, the 85t fits very well and provides good isolation from the outside world. The sound is very good (using the AAC codec) and can be EQ'd using the app. ANC isn't the best but it's not too far off and more than acceptable. I recently used them on a 5 and a half hour flight and was quite satisfied with the noise cancellation and sound quality. Battery life is good and I get 5+ hours on a single charge with ANC turned on. If your flight is longer you should carry another set of earbuds so you don't have to wait for a recharge. I always carry two pairs of earbuds when traveling. On a recent flight home lasting 6 hours, my Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds ran out of juice so I switched to the Elite 85t to finish the movie I was watching. If not your primary earbuds, the 85t makes an excellent backup. For sound quality, I prefer the Sennheiser MTW2 but I don't travel with them because the noise cancellation isn't as good as the XM4 and they are not as comfortable as the 85t. At $200, the 85t is a good option. At $150, the 85t is a bargain.

Amazing sound, however this is my third jabra pair. I had the 75s for a while and the left ear bud went out on me. I purchased the 85ts hoping for a longer life span and have had to replace then due to the same left ear issue. Negatives aside. These earbuds, are amazing, the software is just enough to pass in my book and the main selling point for me was the noise cancelation, phenomenal, legitimately changed my view on sound cancelation. The battery life is very respectable, I tend to get just over 6 and a half hours of constant use before needing to recharge, and the case charges the buds very quickly. The case also supports wireless qi charging, adding to the convenience, I am able to charge from the back of my phone without issues. The side buttons are very customizable and functional. Also I have had 0 issues working out in these, sweat and rain have been no issue, additionally the ears fit well in my ears (your mileage may vary) but they have never fallen out of my ears while working and running. The audio passthrough feature is also very useable and clear. Overall, I am very pleased with these earbuds and dont plan on upgrading them for a very long time (assuming the earbuds dont break again).

I’ve had multiple Jabba earbuds and they keep getting better. I use these to work from home. They are very comfortable with great sound and microphone picks up my voice for calls but not outside noise. Only negative is that over time the battery life drops to about 4 hours before having to charge but that isn’t a huge concern because I’ll charge them over lunch

TLDR : The earbuds are great for what you are paying for which is around almost 200$ including tax for IOS and android. If you are an IOS user I would recommend you shell out a little bit more for airpods pros since it's often found for 200$ (excluding tax). If you are an android user then you will have no problem using these earbuds. I have to make it clear that these earbuds work perfectly fine with IOS and android, you can also customize its sound through its app as well. If you wanna save some money the 75t is a good option, from my research it seems that the ANC between 85t and 75t is marginal. Background : My experience with audio is sennheiser HD600, HD5xx, sony wh-1000x-m2, sony wh-1000x-m1, powerbeats pro, beats studio wireless, audio technica m50x, airpods, airpods pros, and more that I cannot recall. Been an IOS user for 7 years and currently using Zfold 2. Size : It does come with different sized eartips and my recommendation is to just try everything out for long periods of time and see what is comfortable for you. I cannot speak for everyone ear size but stock works perfectly for me. Sound Quality : I will not be getting into the nitty gritty details but I personally believe that most consumers will not notice the difference between most truly wireless earbuds unless it is compared against headphones. If it's too bassy or its missing bass just get the app (like most other earbuds) and increase or decrease the bass. Build Quality : Nothing more to say really than its just plastic. Most earbuds are made of plastic anyways. It does have some water resistance but it's not recommended for showering, for swimming, and etc. Some do consider using earbuds for showering and it's not recommended for any earbuds with any type of resistance. I will say that the case has a nice plastic feel that I do not know how to explain. It's not as slippery as the airpods and the airpods pros if that's a concern. It does not stick out of your ear and you can tell by the images. Battery : For my personal use case it is enough to last a whole day including the charging case. I do play music at very high volumes and individual earbuds will last me around 3-4hrs because I am always nearly maxing it out with something consistently playing. Features : Wireless charging case, water resistance, ANC, ambient mode, quick charge for buds, and app for earbud. Things I Don’t Like : You have to use the right earbud if you wanna use a single earbud. The controls seem to be finicky depending on the application you are using. Pressing into my ears is not that comfortable but I will mention that it does not require too much force. I would prefer it if it had more battery life because I hate charging. I believe that yes one can charge right before you sleep but things can always have more battery life if you are traveling for long durations of time. Note : The app allows you to track the last used location of the earbuds. I do not believe it gives you exact location but it does tells you incase you lose it.

Overall, I am very happy with the Jabra - Elite 85t wireless earbuds. They are very comfortable, stay in place very well when I am exercising and have great sound. I really like the hearing profile process to match the sound profile of the earbuds to your hearing. These also have good ANC, after you find the right size tips, so you get a good seal. The only negative I have is that the battery life isn't what I had expected. When just using them for music, with ANC or HearThrough turned off, I get the advertised battery life. Having the microphones active definitely takes a toll. When using these for long Zoom calls, with the Sidetone feature turned on (so you hear your own voice when on a call), the battery life takes a significant hit. I'm getting two to three hours when continually using them for Zoom calls.

What's to like: audio is really nice (I'm not an audiophile, but I preferred the soundcore dot 2 & yes, the amazon echo buds); wireless charging case (25 hrs); long single charge for buds (7 1/2 hrs with ANC turned off); great ANC and hear thru, connects to two devices at the same time (good when going from phone to tablet/PC - plays audio only on one at a time). great for phone calls. Cons: Left bud is not mono mode (big minus for me-bad in the office); they fall out of my ears if I'm working out. Buttons on the buds cause pushing into the ear. I have bad luck with buds (falling out, losing, breaking), so I tend to bargain shop instead go for the high end buds. I have found audio quality buds on par with these (Mpow, Soundcore & Soundpeats) that cost much less, but you do you...

The Jabra Elite 85t are one of the absolute best TWS on the market. These are neck and neck with the Sony WF-1000XM4 depending on your usage. These buds fit very similar to the AirPods Pro, with the oval eartips sitting just on the outside of your ear canal. This makes them very comfortable for long-term usage. You may need to use a larger eartip than what you are used to to get the best and most comfortable seal (I am generally small but found the large tips to be the best on these; they fit similar to Bose eartips). These 85t sound good enough in their stock tuning, but are blown away by the likes of Samsung, Sennheiser, and Sony. However, these are easily the most feature-rich set of true-wireless earbuds on the market. The Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode were the best on the market until Sony beat them with the XM4. The Jabra Sound+ app is what every headphone app should strive to be. It is intuitive, reliable, unobtrusive, and loaded with useful features. You can EQ the earbuds, set ANC and transparency levels, use the Find My Earbuds feature, rename, the buds, and so much more. The crown jewel of the app is the customizable buttons. You can tune every combination of button presses on each earbud to be exactly what you want. These are still the only earbuds in which you can control play/pause, skip track, back track, volume levels, ANC/Transparency, and voice assistant all from the earbuds. Not only are the buttons infinitely customizable, but they are always accurate. Tactile buttons are much easier to use than touch controls when dealing with an area you can't see (like the side of your head). I hate the trend of touch-controls on audio gear, and Jabra is one of the only ones left fighting the good fight. Sony, Samsung, Sennheiser, Apple: please listen up! We are six years into TWS, and Jabra are still the only ones providing multipoint connectivity. With the 85t, I can stay connected to my laptop and phone at the same time; no need for the Bluetooth disconnect/reconnect dance! This is truly a game-changing feature, and other earbud manufacturers need to jump on this. It truly makes life so much easier. While these earbuds are best-in-class for fit, customization, ANC, and features, there are a few areas of improvement for the Elite 95t. I wish Jabra provided a true 5-step EQ like Sony does. While I don't like the stock tuning of their WF-1000XM4, I was able to use the app to make them sound more to my liking (on the Harman curve). The Jabra app has an EQ, but it's not as easy to use for fine adjustments and audiophiles won't feel at home like they will with Sony. I would also like to see Jabra address the lack of independent usage. While this isn't a big deal for me, I know lots of people who like to use only one earbud at a time. The Jabras are still using an antiquated master/slave connection, which means you cannot use the left earbud by itself. Finally, Jabra should add higher-fidelity codecs like aptX HD and LDAC. AAC is fine for iPhones, but I wish my 85t were able to take advantage of the more advanced hardware in my Android phone to deliver the best sound possible. Finally, I wish Jabra were able to make the earbuds stick out of the user's ears a bit less. The 85t are a bit bulky and these earbuds are impossible to use for sleeping (I have to go to the Galaxy Beans for that). Overall, I can definitely recommend the Jabra Elite 85t to people who want want great noise cancellation and comfort while being able to tinker with every setting possible. The multipoint connection is a standout feature for those with multiple devices. Audiophiles may want to look elsewhere, as the 85t sound good but ultimately cannot compete with sets such as the Sony WF-1000XM4 (with EQ), Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2, or Moondrop Sparks. However, for everyone else, the Jabra Elite 85t should be a top pick. Well-done Jabra, and I am looking foward to the 95t!

The ONLY thing keeping me from a 5 star review is the water resistance on these. The sound quality is wonderful, ANC is exactly what you'd expect at this price range, and the mic has always picked up my voice crystal clear. Unfortunately, one accidental trip through the washing machine has rendered this $200 purchase absolutely useless. While the earbuds survived the washing and 4 day drying out period, they no longer accept any charge from the case. Contacted support to see if the water resistance rating would hold up as a valid reason for a warranty claim and they classify this as "improper care" of the item. Probably a fair stance, but really bummed that one accident ruined these magnificent earbuds.

These are excellent Buds. I’ve used them for over 3 weeks before writing this review. Initially, I was a little disappointed when I received these because the BestBuy product description said they’d have a mono mode available for either earbud independent use. It turns out that was a feature Jabra decided to not use. For the record, that is my ONLY gripe about these headphones. The music quality is amazing and phone calls are clear. The music can be completely customized by the app to be tuned perfectly to your liking. The bass is solid, but not overpowering when you have fitted the right size ear tips to get a good seal. The ANC is amazing — better than my AirPod Pros and in my opinion better than the Bose Quietcomforts that I bought and returned. I like that these are much less bulky and sit in the ear and don’t make you look like you have a malignant growth coming out of your ears. The oval ear tips make these more comfortable than the 75t’s in my opinion. It’s a solid upgrade and the wireless charging case make it so much more convenient to keep the case charged. I highly recommend, but Jabra - if you’re listening - please give users the option of having independent earbud use! They’d be practically perfect with that one missing feature.

I got the Jabra Elite 85T as a warranty replacement set for my Sony WF-1000XM4, Best Buy didn’t have another set in stock. I used to have an Elite 75T set before that and really liked them alot so I knew that Jabra was good alternate. The Elite 85T sound great, the noise canceling is very effective, the battery life on them is great, and they look good. The only negatives are the pairing was a pain in the butt, the bass is underwhelming when compared to my old Sony's, and the EQ customization isn't as wide as my old Sony's. Overall, they're a good set and I like them.

I really like the quality of sound and comfort plus they block out outside noise pretty good! The downside was the volume level was too low for me. I like my music loud and it helps when I'm in excessively noisy environment like riding my motorcycle. Unfortunately sony beats jabra on that issue. Step up the game jabra!!I ended up returning them due to volume being low.

I'm writing this review after using these daily for about two weeks. And while I was a little disappointed at first, I've really come to enjoy these little guys. From the outset, the biggest concern I saw was the sound quality. While mids and highs were pretty clear, bass packed a punch. However, after a couple weeks of burn in, changing the tips to the next larger size, and tweaking the in-app EQ, these really sound fantastic. Currently listening to The Strokes "The New Abnormal" which I find to be a good demonstration of the buds range and abilities. This album sounds fantastic with these. Functionality is quite nice. Sometimes I like that they have real buttons on the side, sometimes I don't. Overall it works well, but sometimes I find myself really pushing it with effort and is uncomfortable in my ears. Truly a small complaint though. The build quality of the charging case could be more premium for the cost of the buds...buy that's being nitpicky. Dual connection between my iPhone and my windows PC works almost flawlessly and is a game changer for work flow. Listening to music from one source, hopping on a call on my phone, it all transfers pretty smoothly. There are some little nuances that annoy me from time to time - clicks and sounds when removing one bud and sometimes falling out while chewing are easy enough for me to overlook. ANC works surprisingly well. Truly impressed because my expectations weren't that high. I have Sony WXM3's for reference on ANC, and while it can't reach quite that level of ANC, it's still quite impressive. Battery life rocks. I've gotten an easy 5 hours with ANC, and 6 something without, so it seems like Jabra was spot on with their estimate. In the end, the little things can be overlooked and probably addressed mostly through firmware updates. Solid 4.4/5.

I like these! I also have the Airpod Pro earbuds, and these are so much better. They connect better, sound better, and are more reliable. I have used Ant, Motorola, Bose, Apple, and other brands of earbuds and these stand out. They don't do a great job in noisy environments when used for hands-free talking, but I have not had a set that does. Battery life is good, and they stay in my ears. I fly a lot, and they do a great job of cutting background noise. I have purchased two sets. One earbud from the first set got lost, so I purchased a second set without a second thought. There is one issue I have found. I have tried to use these as hands-free for video calls on my MacBook Pro. They constantly mute the audio for some reason. That is the only reason I keep my Airpods. Highy recommended!!!

With the different-sized ear tips, I was able to get a good fit, even though they are an unusual shape. Seem to get good sound on phone calls with the mics, and Google Assistant doesn't have any trouble understanding me. I'm no bass head, but as I'd read in a few reviews prior to purchase they are a little light on the low end, but the customizable eq profiles in the app allow an easy adjustment to taste; unless you're looking for Beats level bass, in which case these likely won't be for you. But the audio is clear and the tweakablility is there. When using the physical buttons on the buds to trigger Google Assistant, the transition opening the mics is a little jarring and can take a little getting used to; I would liken it to when your ears pop in a pressurized airplane cabin. This may be fixed by a future firmware update, assuming it's something that is fixable... Speaking of which, I wish there was a better way to update the firmware (this likely won't need to be done very often, so this won't be a continual inconvenience). I like to keep the buds in their case whenever I'm not using them (generally to keep them from loss/damage), however, the buds need to be paired to use the app to download the update, and from what I can tell they can only be paired when they are out of the case. The instructions also inform you that the update process will affect their use, so you probably don't want to be listening while they are updating; which just leaves you to put them on a table next to your phone instead of in the case while they are downloading the update, only to then put them back IN the case to finish the process...? I'm sure there is some reason for this, but it seems like you should just be able to update them in the case. This is clearly nitpicking, though. Overall I am happy with these buds and would recommend them.

Coming from the 75t’s I can say these are a good upgrade. Sound quality is amazing and the anc is on par with the ear pod pros. But the bass isn’t stupid strong anymore which I miss because I’m a bass head. They don’t feel like putting ear plugs in your ear they feel like AirPod pros but better sounding. And the ability to charge the case wirelessly is a plus.

Great sound good fit. Impress with the app very personal feeling. Has a great low frequencies response case feels good quality. Only downside is no independent ear bus use. You can't use the left earbud by itself. I bought the Sony WF 1000 Xm4 to compare, see which one was better. The only feature of the Sony had was the left earbud use however it glitchy and required additional settings to work correctly. So i chose the T85s!

Amazing headphones. The quality is great. Fits my ear perfectly fine. Noise canceling is on point. Definitely an upgrade from previous models. The bass is unreal!!! Gotta have these.

Great pair of earbuds, with some minor annoyances

Excellent pair of earbuds, the sound is pretty good, connectivity is great, they are small and the case fits well in my pocket. Unfortunately I have had some issues with these earbuds. The tracking feature is practically useless, it only shows where the earbuds were last connected.,. Sometimes. Another problem is over time, they don’t sit in the case properly which resulted in them failing to turn off and charge. I’ve had 3 pairs of Jabras and this happened to all 3. I do think these are great earbuds but it’s sad that these negative features will bring down my rating.
