Halo vs BeatsX vs AirPods vs Bose Soundsport

Jabra Halo vs BeatsX vs AirPods vs Bose Soundsport Positives and Negatives of Jabra Halo - Sound is average. I’ve heard better and worse. +0 stars - Wind-noise reduction is a bit better than most (Platronics is much better though). (+0 stars) - noise cancellation is average (again, Platronics and AirPods beats them out) (+0 stars) - water resistant IP54 rating is great. (BeatsX and others don't have this… AirPods are said to be just sweat resistant) (+1 star) - Magnets in earbuds are too weak and do not hold together (BeatsX which does a better job) (+0 stars) - neckband is not comfortable and often slides to the side (BeatsX much much much better) (- 1 star) - earbuds tend to fall out (BeatsX and AirPods are much better) (-1 star) - 17 hrs. Talk-time (more like 15 in real life) and 15 hrs. ( more like 14 hours in real life ) of music playback is above average (I get about 7 hours of music listening on my BeatsX). (+2 stars) - BT range 33 feet is average. Does drop connection more often than I like (BeatsX and AirPods does better and has the Apple BT chip embedded). (+0 stars) - Cost is reasonable (however, Bestbuy has BeatsX on sale for $109 and is a much better product … worth the extra cost) +0 stars Halo TOTAL = 2 stars SUMMARY COMPARISON The biggest strong point for the Halo's are the great battery life. Other than that, its hard to justify getting these. In a perfect world, for business purposes, I have found that you need more than one pair of BT earbuds (one in use while the other is being charged and preferably different ones that have different strengths and purposes). The Halo's are Ok for the price but BeatsX on sale is a much better value. In my case, I don't use my Halos anymore. I use a combination of AirPods and BeatsX. The combination gives me all day and evening coverage on battery. The BeatsX has quick fuel function if needed in a pinch if my AirPods are depleted. The BeatsX are way more comfortable than the Halo. The Halo are annoying most of the time as they often fall off my neck, pinch, or the earbuds fall out when I turn my head. I also have a pair of Bose Soundsports (first generation). These are the best sounding out of the four. I use these for running because they are sweat proof unlike BeatsX (note: Apple states that the AirPods are sweat proof also… I run in those as well with great results… they have never fallen out while running… a little nervous to use them riding my bike without 3rd party ear clips) (also note: Bestbuy cannot offer protection plan on the BeatsX or AirPods since they are an Apple product - bummer). There are two problems with the Bose. 1.) they stick out too far (think of Star Trek's Lieutenant Uhura). I don't care about the looks as much as the wind vortex created when running and especially when riding a bike. Very hard to hear the music even at the loudest volume and just plain annoying. Sitting still or lifting weights has no issues. 2.) believe it or not, out of character for Bose’s great reputation for quality, the SoundSports are not designed to last (at least the first generation). The rubber around the earbuds unsealed / unglued and started to dangle after 6 months of light use. The rubber control bar started to malfunction as well. The collar/clothing clip is absolutely great but easily lost (my broke). You can replace for $5 but Bose should have included an extra one or two in the box. Perhaps Bose has worked out these issues on the second generation. Thankfully I purchased the BestBuy protection plan. Highly recommend the protection plan if going with the Soundsport. BEST USES FOR HALO: - ok for business conference calls (although Best Buy sells Airpods or Plantronics Voyager 5220 Bluetooth Headset are in my opinion much better options for calls). The Halos would keep falling out of my ears or off my neck during business calls (not acceptable) - ok for music listening but BeatsX and especially Bose Soundsport sound much better. - cost conscious consumer STILL SEARCHING FOR EARBUD NIRVANA: - Unfortunately after trying many earbuds, I found there is no perfect earbud that does everything I want it to do. I was looking for something comfortable that stayed in my ear, sounded awesome with rich base, had a long battery life, quick / easy / seamless / and 60ft BT connectivity, water and sweat resistant for working out, great wind and background noise reduction / cancellation that sounds like your in the office during a conference call when your really in your car, etc. etc. For me, this required multiple devices. AirPods for in-office business calls and to take on-the go. BeatsX for listening to music during the day when the AirPods are being charged. And Platronics for critical business calls in the car or loud environments. Normally I keep the Platronics in the car, put the AirPods in my pocket , the BeatsX around my neck and head out the door. That covers me all day in various situations for sure. FAVORITES IN ORDER (if I could only have one and excluding Platronics which are specifically for remote business calls): 1. AirPods - absolutely hands down my favorite (yes, I was very skeptical at first). Short battery life but workable with the charging pod. Would absolutely be ecstatic if these gave me 4 hours of continuous battery life. The BeatsX don’t sound that much better so the AirPods are good for music also. (Note: If you are in a loud environment the SoundSport does a much better job at blocking out external environment sound… the BeatsX does this pretty well but not as good as the Soundsports.) I can use AirPods for working out (Apple says they are sweat resistant and the BeatsX are not). They look a bit funny but you can put one earbud in instead of both to minimize onlooker stares if it bothers you that much (and doubles the battery life if you just need one AirPod for mono use (i.e. phone calls). Also they flawlessly connect with the iPhone and have great range (the BeatsX connect without issues about 80% of the time… still good). The best thing about the AirPods is the portability. I can stick them in my pocket easier than the BeatsX. The AirPods are the most versatile of the bunch and best all around solution (and can be purchased at BestBuy). If I had to have one, AirPods would be it. 2. BeatsX - my second favorite. What would make them better? I wish they sounded as good as my Bose SoundSports. I also wish they had 10 hours of batter vs 7. I really like the comfort (don’t even notice they are on my neck). The apple BT chip is great. The BeatsX paired along with the AirPods is a great solution. 3. Halo - I don’t think I would buy these again. If you can afford the extra $40 to $60 I would definitely go with the AirPods or BeatsX. The battery life was awesome, but they sounded mediocre and are very uncomfortable.

These are the lightest, best sounding headphones in my opinion. The range is awesome. The only problem I have is they sometimes slide off the back of my neck, probably because they’re so light and I move around a lot.

These are easy to set up and use whether you're tech savvy or not, so a good gift for someone who may be older or not into gadgets. They sit comfortably around the neck and I like how the earbuds are magnetized. It's super convenient to just pull the earbuds apart to answer a call! No fumbling with buttons or taking out your phone. The Bluetooth connection is strong too. You can wear these with a hoodie or outerwear and it won't drop the connection even if the receiver gets covered. Another bonus is these are rather inconspicuous looking unlike other "around the neck" headsets which can look kind of dorky. The call sound quality is top notch and I've never had anyone complain about not being able to hear me, even when I'm in a noisy environment. They hold a charge for a LONG time! I can go days without charging. The button dedicated to a voice assistant is an awesome addition as well because you can truly be hands free. With all those pros, there is one biggish con- sound is not good for music. The music is too low even when the volume is turned way up, which is odd because voice calls are perfectly loud, but when it comes to music playback it's dreadfully low. There's no bass or treble to speak of either. I had to remove 1 star for that. I think they are worth it if you can get them on sale like I did because they do provide a reliable, convenient, hands-free experience. But if you are a sound snob, don't bother.

I've tried about five or six different brand Bluetooth and these are the best. Battery life is above all the best feature. Of course they are comfortable too. Only downfall is that they aren't very loud and sometimes they fall out of my ears. Maybe larger earplugs would help. I broke my first pair and I'm on my second.

This Jabra headset has awesome audio, either on phone calls or listening to music the sound it's clear very nice. Battery life is great. My only complaint is on the design. Cable for the headphone is long enough, no problem there. But the back of the headset is quite bulky (it holds the battery back there of course), not too ergonomic and not flexible at all. Can't lay down with them on. And very often they slide back and have to pull them forward frecuently.

This is my first wireless headset and I'm glad I bought it. The sound is great and it has a great battery life to it. Being wireless means that there are no cords that hang down to get in your way. I have an iphone and it shows the battery level right by the headphones emblem so you can see where the charge level is at and if you need to charge it. The controls are easy to use and are easy to get familiar with in a short time. It has a few different size earbuds you can switch between depending on the size of your earhole. You do need to keep the extra in a place you can find them easily, and if not, you'll need to order some new ones s most places don't carry replacements. What will take getting use to is that it's a collar and at times feels like it's constricting around your neck, and not in the good way where you need a safety word. It is stiff but flexible enough to where you can adjust the bands in and out. Overall, I do recommend them.

Great battery life as advertised or even better... Great for long days at work. I paired this device with a Samsung galaxy s8+ and every time it will ask if I wish to use volume sync. I'm not sure if this is because of Samsung or the headset and it can be annoying having to turn on every time. Volume is not the highest nor is the bass, but it's definitely not the lowest if you're willing to compromise for a long batt. life. Companion app shows a semi detailed information about batt use and also a percentage along with an estimated time before you need to recharge. Other options are also available through app. Comfortable to wear, although I have noticed the neck band falling off or sliding back when I'm not using a collar shirt. Great for making calls no breakage in sound nor in voice input. People cannot tell if I'm using headset or just doing it old school through phone. You will definitely get the best value for your buck!!!

I use around-the-neck headsets because the vibrate during ring feature means I dont miss calls in noisy environments. I previously used a LG Tone, which worked well, but the earpiece wires broke after 1 year. Time will tell, but the Jabra wire design seems less likely to break. The Jabra costs less than my previous headset. Sound quality is good and voice quality is good for people I call. The magnets that make the earpieces stick are a great idea. You can answer calls by simply pulling them apart and placing in your ears. The only downside is, no one's neck is shaped like this headset. It works fine but tends to twist offcenter over time. This can cause the earpieces to not stay stuck together which means you can't answer a call by pulling them apart. Over all, they are worth the money and just miss being great.

Headphones function and sound well. Great battery lift too. The reason this gets a 3 star, is that they won’t stay on my neck. At the gym they kept falling off to the point I stopped using them.

My main purpose of purchasing these Bluetooth headphones was because of the battery life and the ability to handle 2 cell phones (personal and work) simultaneously. The are also able to withstand water & sweat. They are lightweight. Music quality is what is to be expected from in ear headphones. Talk quality is great even in noisy environments. Just like other Jabra Bluetooth headset/headphones.

Sound- they are ok, above average than most headphones out there. Battery- the Best!!! Last for days without being charged and only takes a few hrs to charge. In ear- comfy, and they stay in. Calls- very clear, in and out. Controls- very easy to access and feel which buttons are being pushed... Neck band- awefull- if you tend to move alot these are not meant for you, as I have learned. They fall off, and don't even notice it. The magnets that the earbuds have to hold together around your neck are not strong enough. I have almost lost them twice because they have fallen off because of movement, there is no way of securing them around the neck, the design of these headphones need to be improved so they can stay on your neck no matter what. Ex. LG's.

I love the sound and clarity of the device! The battery last better than most that I've used in the past. However, the way it hangs around your neck is awkward because it wants to shift and fall off the back side. It needs some kind of clip on it to keep it in place. It does not shift when I wear a shirt with a collar but I don't wear a collar most of the time. Definitely needs a clip!

The headphones sound amazing and they feel great on the neck, sometimes I forget that I am wearing them! Battery life is the best I've experienced on wireless headphones I've owed previous (LG, Sol Republic, skull candy, jbl). The only issue that I have is the range, headphones cut in and out when inserted in my pocket, other than that, they are legit!

This is my favorite in-ear bluetooth headphone by far. with the app on my phone i can see how much battery is available. I use it on my MacBook pro and on my Samsung galaxy S7 Edge. both connected at the same time by the way. listening to music is pretty awesome the voice is very clear the bass is strong enough for me, not like on-ear or over like sony or beats. but its enough. and the mids are also good. it's very comfortable i use the whole day. oh and I'm a big guy about 230 pounds so its no problems for the neck part. phone calls nobody could notice that i was on a headset. Now my favorite part of this halo smart is the battery. I did a little test " i charged on the usb port on my MacBook pro " started with 0% battery, after charging for 15 minutes i had 41% of battery already lol, at 30 min 61% battery, 45 min 69% and after 1 hour 84% and after 1 hour and 40 minutes it was 100% if you are not sure to get it, just do it lol. oh the connection is good. i had a cheaper Jabra that would have connections problems even if i put the phone on my pocket but not this one this one is really good. this is like 2 weeks of use. if anything changes i will come back.

I really like this headset a lot. It's comfortable around your neck, it's lightweight and flexible has good battery life and the sound is good. It also looks good around your shirt or tucked into your collar. The only thing is that the ear buds were kind of cheap, but that's an easy thing to deal with.

I was looking for something that would be good while walking but still had good call quality while outside. I originally picked up a set of Sony extra base but the call quality outside was a little lacking and the lack of control from the headset made me return them. I was not expecting these to sound as good as the Sony headset, but I was pleasantly surprised. These are just as good in my opinion. I really love the sound these produce they truly sound amazing and are close to a set of Bose in ear wired earbuds. Call quality outside with some wind in the background seems fine the caller said I was still clear and they couldn't hear the wind. People really cannot tell I am on a headset. The unit is very comfortable to wear all day, but I have a couple complaints on the the magnetic connection. 1 they sometimes come loose. 2 every so often when the ear buds are on the neck piece it will catch and pull the hair on my neck. I really like the option to have the headset connected with two devices. I have it connected to my iPad and iPhone. There is a bit of quirkyness to it though. I have experienced the audio cut in and out for no reason. If I disconnect from either device this stops. It works okay otherwise. Overall I am impressed and very happy with these headphones, and if it were not for the issues above I would have given 5 stars.
