    Great headphones when they work

I'm on my second pair of these in two years. When the headphones work it's great (they still need to release an update for the loud assistant and prompts), but they seem to have a very short life cycle. The first pair of headphones I had began to crackle continuously out of the left side ear. After going back and forth with support (was probably told ten times to do a factory reset) they finally took them back and gave me a new pair - these first ones were ten months old. My second pair is about eleven months old and now the bluetooth connectivity has stopped working. Every device it has worked with will still "pair" the device, but no long transfer any audio. I've factory rest this device multiple times already, but to no avail. Hoping support will work with me again, but a one year life cycle for $100+ headphones is unacceptable.

Sudden Death; GET GEEK SQUAD PROTECTION

I've owned several pairs of wireless "sport" headphones. Three of which have been Jaybirds. My first set of Jaybirds were the first generation of "Freedoms". They lasted over a year, but died a sudden death. That is to say they simply stopped working suddenly with no hope of repair. I was OK with this as I worked out and traveled with them heavily for over a year, and was mostly satisfied with the lifespan given my daily usage. I then purchased my first set of X3s, but they lasted less than six months and died a sudden death. My third, and final set of Jaybirds, another set of X3s, died a sudden death after only two months. There are numerous complaints on Jaybird's website with similar issues from people who work out with the X3s several days per week. Unfortunately, the best part of my last two pairs of X3s was the Best Buy 2-Year Geek Squad Replacement Plan. Here's the wrap-up on the X3s: Pros: The shape, size, weight and battery life are all superior for wireless headphones in this price range. Range and speech / voice are also superior. Sound Quality: OK at best. If you're an audiophile, then you'll likely be disappointed as there is not much low-end, and the mid - highs lean towards the "tinny" end. If audio quality is not a priority for you, then you'll be satisfied with the X3s. Cons: I'm not certain why my last two pairs of X3s died suddenly with only a couple months of use. Most owners with similar issues share a common trait: we tend to work out with them several times per week, and most of us believe the X3s short out either through the charging contacts or with moisture build-up in the ear piece. Either way, they simply DON'T LAST under regular rigorous work-out conditions. Summary: I'm done with Jaybirds for now, and made the switch to the Bose Soundsport after being bitten three times by Jaybirds. I'm new to the Soundsports, but here's my initial impression: Pros: Sound quality is exactly what you would expect from Bose, and far superior to Jaybirds. Battery life is great, although the Jaybirds still have the Bose beat by a about two hours (6 hours with Bose vs 8 hours with Jaybirds). The "Bose Connect" app is very innovative and seems like it will be useful with features like "find my headphones". The charging port uses a common micro USB that connects to a sealed port. This is great because the Jaybirds redesigned their charger to be a proprietary set of direct contacts that snap into a proprietary charging cradle. This always seemed like a cumbersome design flaw with Jaybird as the exposed contacts are designed to conduct electricity, and I simply don't see how regular sweat wouldn't eventually become problematic. Cons: The Bose "appear" slightly more clunky than the Jaybirds, but they're very comfortable and the size to weight ratio is right in line as they are very light even though they "appear" slightly larger. I can't say how they hold up to my tough exercise routine yet as I've only had them a couple of days...But, I'm excited to find out.

      Hi Leostriple,

Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback with the design, fit and audio quality of the Jaybird X3. We are sorry to know that you've experienced power/charging issues with the buds. We understand how you feel and recommend that you reach out to [email protected]. We will do what we can to help improve your experience.

Also, here are suggestions that can help prevent the issue from occurring.

      • Computers are the best and safest method, as is anything 1 AMP or less.
      • Car chargers produce a much greater power supply and should be avoided.
      • Over-charging the battery will quickly reduce the life of the headphones, so in addition to monitoring the power supply, limit the charge time to 2.5 hours,
      • To get the most out of your battery it is recommended to charge the buds when the low battery status is indicated.
      • Avoid charging your headphones after exposure to sweat.

I bought this after after reading several reviews of this having good Bass, and it is exactly like that. I was planning to go for Bose but they are like another 20$ bucks more. This prized lesser than Bose, I went for it. My recommendation go for it.

I have the LG hbs750s and really liked them but didn’t like the way they felt on my neck. I decided to try the Jaybird even though they were twice the price. The jaybird are the best sounding in ear headphones I’ve ever own but with one catch, they only sound great when they stay in your ear which is the problem, they won’t stay in my ear. I mostly wear them at the gym and I find that I’m constantly readjusting the earpieces, and on top of that, the set of foam tips that fit my ears only lasted about 100hrs before they cracked and were useless! Now they are just an expensive pair of below average headphones.

    Sounds great...for a minute

These wireless headphones have outstanding sound quality. And then they just stop working. Period. All in all mine worked for less than 15 minutes the first time I used them. The LED went dead and then they ceased charging all together. Followed the instructions & did a "factory reset" to no avail. To say the quality just isn't there is an understatement. The bright spot in this whole experience was, for a pleasant change, the customer service at Best Buy. I don't know what happened at my local store but there has been a paradigm shift for the better! I was able to exchange for Bose headphones with absolutely no hassle. So we'll see how it goes with Bose!

Great fit, Great Sound, Died in under 30 days

Let me start by saying I had to warranty out my JAYBIRD X2 four times. They continuously died within a month, and the last pair died within 4 days of getting it. I bought the X3 only because of the sound quality and the fit. However, again I am let down. This first pair of X3 had the right earbud go out completely in the first month of using them. I can't believe Jaybird charges so much for such an inferior product. I will be returning. They have a lifetime warranty because you need it, over, and over, and over, and over again.

I’ve been wanting this for so long. I’m so happy I waited for the amazing price. These are amazing you won’t be disappointed. Packaging is so beautiful and so many wearable options to use this. I love the customization. I wanted to love the Bose Soundsport. These outweigh them BY FAR and a much decent price. Sound quality is very good. I’m satisfied. I hope they last. Good job JayBird!!!

They worked fine just uncomfortable for me. 4 Stars is only because the inside of my ears are so small even extra small earbuds hurt so I had to return these for a set of bone connection headphones.

    Thumping Sound was Annoying, Uncomfortable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I did all the research to find the best headphones. Just about everyone said these were the best sports headphones you could buy. I'm not sure who left the reviews, but my guess is they work for JayBird because my opinion is completely different. If sitting still and not moving, they sound very good. But when I move around or barely tap the rubber wire between the ear buds, there would be a loud "thumping" sound. When I wore them golfing, with every step I took there was the same thumping sound every time the wire hit my shirt. I even pinned the wire to my shirt, but the sound was still there. I could not imagine how annoying these would be on a run. You could turn the volume up high enough to drown out the annoying sound, but it would have to be on high. I played 4 golf holes with them before I couldn't stand it anymore. When I took them out of my ears, I noticed how painful they were. Now it was the first time I wore in the ear canal headphones like these, but I didn't want to put them back on. I am just so surprised after reading all the reviews that no one said the same thing about the thumping sound. I wasn't going to write a review, but felt like people need to know about this issue. The packaging was great and so was the sound which is why I gave 2 stars. But if you are using them for exercise or moving around, it would be negative stars. I didn't have any issues with charging or battery problems like other people have mentioned. I gave them three different wearings, but came to the conclusion they weren't for me. If you need them for sitting around the house, they may be good. If you plan to use them for exercise, forget about these.

Not Sweatproof!!! Avoid Product and Company!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I normally don't write reviews but I do when I feel to warn others about a product. I received this bluetooth headset as a Christmas gift. I was very excited to give these a try (my first premium ear buds) as I have wanted to try Jaybirds. These are amazing when they work. The sound stage is amazing IMO. However, after 3 weeks of use for 3-4 times a week while running, it would not turn on. I believe it is an issue with moisture from sweating. I tried troubleshooting methods I saw on their forum and those offered by customer service but none worked. I should have taken heed to the other reviews suggesting to stay away from this product as it is not sweatproof as advertised. I even owned a pair of Mpow bluetooth ear buds (small fraction of the cost of the X3) that withstood a moisture beating from sweat and even accidentally being in the wash. I have reached out to customer service for help in getting a replacement (as it is certainly still under warranty). The first rep gave me suggestions to troubleshoot and said if it did not work to provide info to pursue the warranty claim. Troubleshooting didn't help and when I provided my information, a second rep made more suggestions instead of following up about the claim. This person even suggested using another micro usb cable to charge but the X3 uses a propriety charging cable. I have gone down this rabbit hole of talking to multiple customer service reps before and will not be a victim again. Jaybird has ripped me off and stolen my money. Unless your intention is to use in dry conditions and deal with bad customer service, avoid this brand like the plague and don't believe the hype. This product gets 1 star for the customized sound EQ and the output. I recommend going with another brand like Bose or even Mpow.

So obviously I bought these for iPhone. I was looking forward because I kept hearing great reviews, but only a 3-4 months in and they are gone. Very disappointed , no matter how much I try they don’t stay connected to my phone. It keeps disconnecting and disconnecting. I have tried everything from resetting the jaybirds, letting the baterry die out. I even tried them on other phones and nothing, it just won’t stay connected via Bluetooth. I contacted their support to see if I can get them replaced and they just gave me the run around. Extremely disappointed. Took me a while to finally come write this review but I’m doing it because they are not worth the money. Try something else.
