    Sound great

I have had issues with previous versions of the jaybird staying in my ears. The J3s stay in just fine, no weird wrapping around my ear, no need to clip the cable, just pop them in and go. They are great with the Comply ear tips.

Sound is terrific but earbuds keep falling off

I would have loved these if the quality of the earbud stems had been engineered properly. The replacement buds keep falling off, even when the device is just dangling around my neck. The sound is terrific but I couldn't even use them while in the dentist chair - the stems kept falling out of the replaceable part of the earbud. They are basically unusable.

    Don't buy these

I'm honestly shocked that these have gotten such positive reviews. They're not particularly comfortable, won't stay in your ears well, and don't sound particularly good. The bluetooth connection also stutters several times an hour. On top of all of that, my pair wouldn't charge. Tried charging them through my computer and 3 other USB charging boxes. Tried multiple factory resets. Tried troubleshooting on google -- only to find dozens of people having the same issue, some on their second or third pair. I took these back to Best Buy and spoke to the guy in the headphones department about them. He said that Jaybird is known for having quality control issues; if you get a working pair, they're great, but there seem to be a whole lot of defective pairs going around. So, long story short, I'd stay away from these. And if you're really determined to buy them, don't buy them straight from Jaybird -- get them at a chain so you can exchange for a different brand if you get a lemon.

    Won't Charge

I was excited to purchase these headphones because I was tired of running with earbuds that never seemed to fit my ear correctly. I used these headphones for a couple runs and they worked great, then one day they stopped charging. I thought something was wrong the charger I had so I bought a new one. It did not fix the problem. I have now tried contacting support multiple times to figure out the issue with no response. I have tried multiple outlets, plugged the headphones into my computer and car outlet with no luck. Now the headphones are dead and a waste of money. Disappointed in the quality of this product and the lack of customer service.

    WAY too loud messages

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

There is no way to turn down the pre-set volume on the Jaybird messages. Everytime (you will not know when to expect it) the battery changes from 90% to 80% to 70% you get a deafening message. Each time they turn on or off or try to connect OR come into range of a previously paired device you get a jolting deafening message. Do not recommend. Response from Jaybird, "Sorry the volume of our messages is too loud for ya"

    Chatter and Skipping

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am not one to write reviews, but feel my experience needs to be shared since the glowing reviews are what caused me to purchase the X3s. I LOVED my Blue Bud X headphones. I used them regularly for 4+ years. They wore out. I never had any skipping or chatter issues...ever. I'm not sure if I happen to get a 'lemon' set, but I'm returning these X3s. I can deal with an occasional skip, but having my iPod (same iPod as with the Xs) in my pocket while doing yard work and at at the gym, the skipping was continuous. I tried different pockets, and turning my iPod around in my pocket...nothing helped. I'm of average build, but apparently the distance from my head to my pocket is outside the maximum wireless range of the X3s. My Xs never had these issues with it located in my pockets. I am not going to wear a strap on my arm every time I want to use wireless headphones, and I don't have that many chest-pocket shirts. I also made sure my iPod had the latest software version. I was very pleased with the music control app and the setting options that the X3 app has. The sound/music quality of the X3s was improved from the Xs. The fit was fine, and they didn't fall out. Again, maybe its just a bad X3 pair, but I'm very disappointed because my Xs were awesome.

I'm terrible with keeping track on these wireless earbuds. I've gone through 2 of these, one lost, the other chewed up by my dog. I've bought these things 3 times, and everytime I have no buyer's remorse.

3 HUGE flaws on these headphones

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off I watched and read alot of reviews on these headphones and expected them to be flawless. I've found 3 huge flaws about these headphones that have made me really frustrated about the product. 1. The headphones do not stay in the ear. I have the wings on and have used the foam but no matter what when there is sweat in my ears, the headphones slip out. I have to constantly push the headphones back into my ear. I have tried wearing the headphones both methods behind the neck as well as hanging around the neck. 2. The charger cable is horrible. To have a proprietary charger means that if you lose the charger you are essentially screwed. I've gone on business trips and have forgotten the charger. Unless you know someone else with a Jaybird X3 charger, you are basically without sports headphones. 3. The foam earpieces break. Literally within 2 weeks of my use of the foam ear pieces they ripped in half rendering them useless. I contacted Jaybird about them but refused to replace them. Overall I would not purchase this product ever again and I recommend others to consider purchasing another product especially at this price point.

    Great Sound, not very durable

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Got these on sale and they were great why they lasted...all 23 days. The sound is really awesome and would give 5 stars on that alone but there are a couple of things that detract from it. 1) The fit wasn't the best, but that could be me...2) The proprietary charger really sucks and 3) they stopped working after 23 days. My only guess is that they are not as sweat proof as it claims.

The ear buds won't stay in my ears

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It doesn't matter how fantastic the sound is if the ear buds won't stay in your ears. I was very excited to to have the freedom of wireless ear buds to use while exercising, yard work, and other activities where wires get in your way. However, I spent more time trying to keep them in my ears than I ever did fussing with wired ear buds.

    Great Sound, Horrible Connection

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought these after all the glowing reviews, both here as well as across a lot of audio and fitness sites. Tried them out after I bought them and they sounded great ... but then I used them for running and everything changed. My audio dropped out constantly, due to a bad connection from bluetooth. To the point where it was basically unlistenable. After doing more research online about this issue, it sounds like this is fairly common and the only solution to fix it is to let all the cords dangle (i.e. not wear the headphones in the "sport mode" way that the actual instructions tell you to). This makes using these for any activity pretty annoying. I will be returning mine and looking for an alternative. My other bluetooth headphones have not had problems - but this was my first foray into sport-type earbuds. Previous ones have been high-end over-the-ear.

    Doesn’t stay in ears

Upon exhaustive reviewing of Bluetooth earbuds, I decided to go with the Jaybird X3 headphones. They sound good but don’t stay in my ears properly. I tried all the combinations with the accessories (which was an exhaustive task) and unfortunately none of the combinations worked. I watched videos and tutorials to see if I was doing something wrong. I wasn’t! Unfortunately, until I tried all the different combinations, the 14 day return policy ran out. They would stay in my ears for a short period of time but after I would move around, they would come out of my ears. Now I’m stuck with these headphones and can’t use them how Iintended to use them. I intended to use them to work out and do yard work so, I couldn’t go through the combinations quickly.

They'd be great, if you could power them on

I walked into a Best Buy store today excited to purchase the Jaybird X3's after spending almost all day watching YouTube reviews and reading online about them. After getting home, I unboxed them and I tried to pair them with my iPhone 7 but they would not power on. I followed the quick start guide and nothing happened, I even tested the charging cradle with another micro usb cable but still no power. I spent at least an hour trying different troubleshooting steps but it was all pointless. This is very dissapointing as I was really looking forward to trying these out. Now I feel skeptical exchanging them for a new pair as they may come defective too. In the meantime, I've purchased the Bose Soundsport headphones and I gotta say I'm quite impressed with the sound and they actually TURNED ON!

    Do Not Buy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These are the worst. They will break. They will stop holding a charge. They will loose the ability to charge. Do not buy these wireless headphones. If you purchase them, do yourself a favor and get the 2 year protection plan from Best Buy. Jaybird customer service is the worst. They will make you jump through hoops, and it will take weeks to get a replacement pair. Once you get a replacement pair, those will break as well. I've been through this, so have many others. Just go to support.jaybird.com and read through the reviews and Q/A or visit Jaybirds Facebook page and read for yourself. This is a terrible product (and grossly overpriced). I can not believe the sales person at Best Buy recommended them as "my best option."

    Missing some key features

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased these headphones in September 2017, so I've had them for 4-5 months now. The first thing I noticed is that you can't skip songs using the the controls on the headphones, which is a little annoying if you want to be phone-free. I think that's a feature you definitely want to include on wireless headphones. The second is that my "ear clips" either always fall off my headphones or stay stuck in my ears when I take them out. This is incredibly frustrating because I always need to be conscious about not losing them. I've never had a set of headphones where I constantly need to worry about losing a functioning piece. After 4-5 months of use, I finally decided to write a review because the above mentioned points are things I would have liked to know before purchasing. All that being said, quality is pretty good - especially for the price - but the high risk of losing functional objects of the device outweighs that.
