Breaks in less than a month - no customer service

I purchased a pair of these headsets and in less than a month, they died. When I tried to recharge them, they wouldn't charge. Totally dead. I contacted Jaybird customer service and now, more than two months later, I still don't have a refund nor a working set of headphones. Garbage product. Garbage customer service.

    good, but keeps breaking

I have personally owned three pairs of these and have had to return each pair due to some part of the earbuds breaking. The first time, the right earbud broke and wouldn't play any music. The second time, the earbuds would not turn on unless they had just been taken off the charging cable. And the third time, the right earbud broke and has some brown stuff leaking out the side where the fin attaches. Idk what it is. However, when the earbuds are working they are great. They sound great and the app that allows you to change the sound is awesome and I can use it to change the sound for whatever music i'm listening to. I think they earbuds would be worth the price if they didn't keep breaking all the time. (i go to the gym 4-5 times a week)

    Sound is great, but...

Sound is great, but the headphones don't really last hours. I had mine fully charged, I wasn't at high volume, and they didn't even last 2 hours. I don't know if I got a default one, but if I did, I'll just grab a different set. If the new ones don't last what it's advertised, I'll let you guys know ;)

Worst Bluetooth connectivity!!!! With phone in my pocket, these drop Bluetooth frequently. The only reason I gave these any stars is that the sound is good. This is my second pair of Jaybirds, the Jaybird 2 was good, these to summarize are "crap"

Could not power on after initial use

I had high hopes. However, it was not great. I wanted to use them for running. I wanted to use the over ear configuration for this. I found it complicated to get this set up. I never got to a point where I thought they were not complicated to get in. And they did not stay in. But that is the least of it. I ran a Ragnar. Did a sweaty 7 miles. Worked fine. Did a foggy, swampy 7 later that night. I turned them off half way through because I acquired a running buddy. The next day, I tried to turn them on and could not. Thought I had not turned them off. Tried to charge with multiple cords, chargers, and power sources. No response. No lights. No charge, but they got real hot. Two legs without them. After resting for 24 hours, I plugged them in again. They charged, but still will not turn on. Not very sweat proof. Not going to cut it. Going back.

    DO NOT LAST 8 HOURS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

They promise an 8 hour charge life and that’s completely false. They last about 3 hours. The headphones go through 20% of charge in about 20 minutes of straight listening to music. Bought with the intention to use for snowboarding and with a charge of 2-3 hours max, it’s a total waste of my $100.

When it works it is great

Instructions were poor and printed in light gray 3 point type. Using it outside it skipped frequently with my phone in close proximity. Apple Watch had no trouble connecting. When I contacted the I received no advice and a LONG form to fill out. If the skipping keeps up I'll throw them away.

Not comfortable and ear tip comes off in ear

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So I have worn these for a couple of months to make sure I could do a good review. First, they are not all day comfortable. I wear them for an hour workout or a flight and my ears hurt. I have tried the different sizes, no luck. 2nd the ear tips come off in my ear. I seat them so they don't work themselves out, then the tip comes off in my ear when trying to remove them. The option of putting in loosley and then the buds work themselves out of my ear. Finally, the battery maybe lasts 5 hours at best when solid listening to music or a movie. The required charging adaptor is a pain...always worried I will lose it and be stuck with dead head phones.

    My jaybird x3 experience

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off I started reading reviews online and watching reviews on YouTube. All of them said they were great for the price and were one of the better wireless earbuds on the market. I chose these because of price and foam tips. Well that's all these earbuds have going for them. I was excited and when I got home I set them up to fit me right and then played some music. At first they did impress me but I didn't listen to in depth. The next day I went running with these earbuds for the first time and they were losing connection left and right. I couldn't go 5 min without it losing connection. I got home then thought it might just be a bad pair so I exchanged it for a new pair thinking they was the problem. Well the new pair was worse. I couldn't go a minute without it losing connection. Needless to say I have never been so disappointed in a pair of earbuds but these for sure were the worse earbuds I've ever one. Never again will I buy jaybird.

Falls far short of all marketing claims

Now that I'm on my third set of these, I feel a poor review is warranted. These headphones don't meet any of the claims made by Jaybird. The Bluetooth connection is terrible, particularly when worn over the ear with the inline controller against your neck. If you use these outdoors, expect constant signal dropouts, even with your phone on an armband eight inches away from the controller. Forget about carrying your phone below the waist. I've confirmed this with multiple sets of X3's and multiple phones. Jaybird claims eight hours of battery life. I get five in the best case scenario. As soon as sweat starts penetrating the inline controller, this is reduced to a couple hours at best. THESE ARE NOT SWEAT-PROOF, despite Jaybird's marketing videos showing athletes with sweat literally pouring over the earbuds/controller! If you sweat, expect these to last about two months, then you'll need to wait three weeks for Jaybird to send you a replacement pair. I'm now on my third pair, and I would consider myself a very typical active outdoor user. I am very careful to wipe them down and let them air dry after every workout. First, the LED stops working, then moisture inside the inline controller starts to short things out, and you'll get static and rapid battery discharge. The battery will discharge overnight while turned off. Then they'll die completely. This same process has happened to two pairs in a row for me. Since Jaybird won't give me a refund, my luck will be up when the warranty ends in a few months, so I'll be selling this final replacement pair, and swearing off this company entirely. Regarding fit/comfort, the earbuds do fit well, but for me, only in the over-the-ear configuration. The cable is flat and grippy, which means when worn under-the-ear, the cable will drag on your neck when you get sweaty and tug the buds loose from your ears when you turn your head. They do sound good, but unfortunately with all of the other issues, this doesn't matter. For headphones that are marketed exclusively for active outdoor use, these are totally unacceptable.

    High Hopes, didn't deliver...

After a few months of almost daily use, the left earbud failed. After some back and forth with customer service, they sent me a replacement pair. Again after a few months of almost daily use, they started having issues turning on. I have concluded they are not actually sweatproof as they claim. Since they will not work anymore I will be cutting my losses and trying a different brand. When they did work the sound quality was great and I liked the app with customizable EQ settings.

Ear tips fall off with normal use

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After wearing the X3 ear buds for several months the ear tips do not stay attached to the ear buds. This is a very annoying problem! I am tired of loosing ear tips secondary to them not properly adhering to the metal post on the ear buds. In addition, my ears are getting sore from the constant digging in the ear canal to retrieve an ear tip! This is occurring with both the silicone and foam ear tips in all sizes. And i do utilize the wings and i have been very diligent in keeping them dry and clean. is is so very disappointing after spending the extra money on a "quality" pair of ear buds!
