Improved sound and battery life from previous version. And also splash proof. Very portable and has a larger footprint to keep the unit from being pushed over easily.

These are great bluetooth portable speakers. I previously owned the cheap Insignia bluetooth speaker and the JBL Charge 3 is just miles ahead, it is not even a fair competition. The speaker is loud and clear. I spent about an hour testing it out with multiple speakers at the store and these fit my criteria of music (hip hop/r&b) much better. The JBL Flip 4 has better mid range sound but the bass is not quite as good (still better than competition for size). These bump loud and I want to get more of them in order to have a full stereo sound with the JBL link.

My fiancée had a jbl speaker that would no longer charge so I decided to get him an upgraded once for Christmas. It was between the charge 3 and he flip 4. I was skeptical because of the size of the speaker as it doesn’t seem as easily portable. It makes up for that with everything else it has. The sound quality is amazing as well as the bass that comes out of this compared to his old one. He loves the fact that it will charge his phone. He has used the speaker every day at work since he received it and the sound quality is just as good as the day he opened it.

This just what I needed for my family and I since we are always doing thing out doors and I have had smaller blue tooth speaker but always still need that extra loudness so I went with the jbl extreme3 and it's perfect for the price and sound!!!!

It has good sound quality and goes very loud. Somewhat large but still easy to travel with. Charges easily in USB or wall mount. Bluetooth works perfectly.

This purchase was an upgrade from the original JBL charge, which I also loved. The charge 3 is small enough to throw in a backpack or weekender bag, but big enough to deliver powerful sound with enough bass to sound full. The ability to charge a device with it is incredibly useful and even when doing so, the battery life is great. I caught this one on clearance, since the Charge 4 was just released, so it's an especially good value. I have not looked into the upgrades on the Charge 4, but the Charge 3 is a great speaker.

Great for outside by the pool, yard work, garage, anywhere you want to listen to your music or talk radio. Nice feature is that it charges your phone too. Last long time and usually I forget to charge it and still has plenty of power left.

This is the best speaker I've purchased. The sound is amazing and it's water resistant. It's Bluetooth capability is great and it holds a charge well.

For a small speaker it delivers great sound. It connected to my iphone without a problem. Love that its battery powered and portable.

This really is a great "little" speaker! It's not the smallest out there, but it is still relatively small, although it packs some volume and decent bass when you need it, indoors and outdoors. Perfect for packing on day trips, use at outdoor soccer events, and listening to tunes indoors. This has larger drivers than many other name brand speakers of similar sizes in the general price range, and JBL has always been known for delivering nice, deep, rich bass tones - no disappointment here. Highly recommended!

Most Bluetooth speakers I’ve come across sound tinny to me. I was very impressed with this little guys bass and the fact I can *charge* my phone while using the speaker. Holds its charge real well. Bought it for use out in the field.

I've tested a lot of portable speakers out there and this is defiantly one of the better ones, battery life is great, it's water proof and sounds really good, my only complaint is that it could use more treble, it goes louder than the charge2 but I think the charge2 is a better sounding speaker.

Great sound quality. I purchased this speaker for my 16 year old son for Christmas so he will stop using mine. The sound quality is amazing, long lasting battery and fast charging time. The price can be shocking, but its worth it.

This Charge 3 is awesome on its own. Plenty of volume and very clear sound. I use it paired with my JBL Xtreme and the two combined provides a very dynamic sound that fills up my entire backyard and pool area. Highly recommend both!

I have been researching blue tooth speakers for a few months. Narrowed it downd between the Bose Sound Link 2 and the JBL. The sale price is what sold me on the JBL. Sounds great with full base and crisp and clear higher sounds.

The sound quality of the speaker is ridiculously good and the small subs on the sides are great at getting those low bass tones but it leaves the subs exposed so it can be easy to damage it if dropped. The usb port on the back is extremely convenient so I can charge my phone while im outside listening to music but honestly the maximum volume was suprisingly low for the size of the speaker but I guess it’s because the size of the long lasting battery that’s built into it. I myself needed a louder portable speaker so I returned the speaker unfortunately but if sound quality is important to you then I would recommend this speaker most definitely but if its volume that you need I would recommend looking into some other speakers.

My kids always seem to "borrow" my gadgets. So I thought I'd get something nice for myself that I could keep away from them. Haven't tested out the waterproof on this yet, but will get its use in the summer when I have the pool open. Great sound inside and outdoors. I use it with my droid phone to play music via bluetooth. I also connect this to the headphone jack of my projector when I play movies for the kids. Great sound for both those purposes. I like the added bonus feature of it being able to charge other devices. Great product.

I bought this speaker while working out of town. Staying in a hotel room can get a little boring and got tired of listening to music on my phone. I bought this speaker and do not regret it one bit. I have used it at parties, tailgating for football games and occasionally at home. You can use it at the pool or on the beach as it is IPx7 rated for water. The battery has the best life and sound of any of the Bluetooth speakers I checked out, and there are many. You can use it as a speakerphone as well as charge your phone off of the speaker.

Overall this is a great speaker. Well built and is well worth the money. You will not regret your purchase, I have had the Charge 3 since August. I will do my best to list what I found to be the pros and cons of this portable bluetooth speaker. Hopefully this is helpfully. Pros: -Battery Life - Long -WaterProof - You can get this thing wet. -Charging Station - It will charge your cell phone -Loud -Sound Quality Cons: -Wish there was a skip button on the speaker - You can only pause, play, & control volume from the device.
