I bought this sound bar when it was on sale but returned it because I needed more bass. It's probably pretty good for a small bedroom but doesn't have enough bass for larger rooms.

Buyer Beware!!!!! DO NOT BUY this product. JBL will not fix the issue and best buy could care less. Product works fine for the first 6 months, then makes popping sounds and loud screeching sounds. DO NOT BUY!!!

For the money not worth it, brought it back after two days. Have JBL speakers from 5 years ago which still sound great. This system sound not even close to those older speakers. JBL quality is not up to par with what I expected.

While I apppreciate the bar, sometimes it loses connection - actually often - and it can sound a bit tinney. I have seminwireless jbl speakers that I love from 15-years ago - the quality is way better with them.

Good sound, but remote is so small, I fear it will get easily 'misplaced'. Also wish there was a 'volume indicator light bar for visual indexing of volume....

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. The SB400 has a learning remote built into it. So you can actually control the SB400 with pretty much any remote you have lying around, using the instructions in the manual. On the other hand, the TV can only show OSD info when the soundbar is selected as the source, showing material from sources connected to the soundbar inputs. So to do this, select the HDMI input on the TV to which the soundbase has been connected, and on the soundbar, select source that is connected directly to the soundbar inputs. If you have questions or concerns regarding our products, please submit a case request at www.jbl.com/support-contact.html and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to assist you.

Great sound for the value

I purchased this item to upgrade from my standard TV speakers. The setup of the item is very simple, To setup the wireless sub-woofer also is also very simple and easy to do, and it can be done with one person, but I feel done easier with two people.
The sound from the sound bar itself is great. The individual speakers that make up the sound bar allow you to experience different sounds within a movie that you normally would not hear from standard TV speakers.
The sub-woofer is awesome. It has individual setting on itself that allows you to increase the the woofer sound and that makes a huge difference. The sound itself is just amazing and you can really appreciate the sound on Blu-ray disc.
Over-all for the value of this item it is well worth the money. The sound I feel is great and the woofer makes action movies really come to life.

Wasn't really impressed with the way it handled sound from DVDs or cable. It sounds amazing pumping music through it, but something got lost in the translation from movies and shows.

I bought an LG sound bar for less than half the price to put on my TV in my office. This JBL bought for my family room. The JBL does not produce as clear a sound as the LG and it doesn't have as many remote control features as the LG. I'm very disappointed in the JBL overall and would recommend buying the LG $199 sound bar instead.

Amazing Sound but pair with a Harmony remote

After doing plenty of research I decided on the JBL SB400 system to replace the underwhelming speakers on my new Samsung UHD TV. Many of the "newer" soundbars only offer optical connections between the soundbar and the television, whereas the JBL SB400 offers both (3) HDMI inputs and (1) HDMI output that supports ARC (plus the optical connection). This is something that is usually only offered in higher priced systems. I have to say the sound for TV watching, steaming movies, and music is amazing. If my review was just based on sound, it would get 5 stars. However, my review is not based only upon the sound of the system - it's also user experience and usability which is where the SB400 falls a bit short. And why I'm only giving this system 4 stars instead of 5. First off, the remote is horrible. You can buy a $150 no name brand system and get a better remote. Come on JBL really?? Second, the system offers Bluetooth music streaming, however there's no button on the remote for it, so you physically have to switch it on the unit itself - so that's a limitation. Also, with the remote being of such poor quality and features, I'd strongly recommend purchasing a Harmony universal remote to control everything - which is what the salesperson at Best Buy recommended and I'm quite happy I did.
